All was well until the lighting units began to short out after less than a year. The sockets were burning out because the factory-supplied halogen bulbs get too hot. This is a design defect, I'm not blaming the store, although they denied knowing about any such problem with these units. When I ordered the needed replacement parts from Manhattan Lighting, the manager charged my credit card immediately, but did not tell me that he only places an order with this distributor once a month. So, weeks went by, and wondering what was going on, I called, and then the store manager admitted that my order was not submitted because he needed to accrue $12,000 worth of orders to get his desired price-break discount, and mine was only the first. Frustrated, I found an online supplier (Lumens.com), and did a "live chat". While putting me on hold for one minute, the associate phoned the manufacturer directly, then had the parts delivered to me within a week (for $32 each vs. $43 each that ML charged me). This is a perfect example of why internet shopping is putting brick-and-mortar stores out of business. Now that I no longer need them, my replacement parts finally arrived at Manhattan Lighting seven weeks after I ordered them. Lame, misleading customer service, and, for me, the price of an education.

If you have looked for lighting in central NJ you know we lack the national chains. We have a bunch of mom & pops and of course the big box stores. They are terrible. We stumbled into Manhattan Lighting today and found the perfect fixture for our kitchen and as a bonus a new dining room pendant light. We walked in and had immediate assistance to sort through a large selection. The salesroom is jammed and cluttered with tons of product so be prepared to spend some serious time. In the end we found two very cool fixtures. We got what we thought was a decent price. When I got home I searched online for the exact products we bought and sure enough, we received an excellent deal. I guess I am the first to review. This place is definitely worth a visit if you want contemporary lighting. Install is next week. If we have any issues I will update. Recommended.

I was nearly finished making some renovations to my master bathroom when I decided that I wanted to…read moreinstall recessed lights. My shower door guy urged me to do that before he installs the new shower door. So, I needed an electrician who could install my lights lickety-split. My contractor's electrician, who did the wiring for the heated floor, was too busy to install my lights. Therefore, late Sunday afternoon, I came to Yelp to find a good local electrician, who had the ability to do the job this week. Lucky me: I found Jason Klein. I was immediately impressed with his many great reviews. I used the Yelp platform to create a project SPECIFICALLY addressed to Jason. I explained my urgency to complete the lighting installation this week so that my shower door can be installed next week. Jason responded via Yelp's platform almost immediately. Wow! He said that he could do the project on my timeframe. Long story short, Jason's crew showed-up a little before 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, and they finished before noon. The guys installed 6 new recessed lights (3 in my bathroom and 3 in my closets). They were polite and they did a great job. The icing on the cake is that they were very neat: they wore booties inside (YES!), they laid-down tarps on the floor (Thank you!!) they covered the clothes in my closets with plastic (WooHoo!!!) and they vacuumed (Doing my Happy Dance!!!!). Throughout the process, Jason stayed in contact with me by phone/text, so I knew what was going on and exactly when his guys would arrive. I'm very pleased with Jason Klein Electric and I will definitely use them again. (I'm renovating my kitchen next.) (As an aside, I'm a bit dissatisfied with Yelp's tool for creating "Projects." I thought that I had selected a specific electrician from whom to request a quote. I included my phone number in the details. I was disappointed to find that my Project had been shared with others, who also responded. Some of them did not appear to be licensed electricians. I sent an email to Yelp's Privacy Officer inquiring as to whether that was appropriate. No response yet. No matter. I won't use that Project tool again.)

Two young employees arrived. I asked them to spread a tarp since there would be drywall dust and…read morebits of debris as a result of the planned work. When they put down the tarp, I noticed it was VERY dirty, with tiny pieces of drywall debris on it. I asked them to remove it and then shake it outside. When they lifted it from the floor, I saw that the floor was coated with white drywall dust. So *both* sides of the tarp were dirty. Lack of attention to detail and lack of respect for the client's home. Not ok. At some point I suggested we cover the granite countertop where one of the employees was working to protect it from damage in case a tool should accidentally drop on it. Instead of accommodating my (reasonable) request, he resisted, saying "Nothing will drop". Not ok.

We met at our house for measurements…read morethen we discussed design, layout, budget, scope, etc. Bora demonstrated the layout via 3D images so we were able to visualize the finished space. Despite our many requests and changes, he was always patient and gave us quick turnarounds every time. We picked the kitchen cabinet/KITH, countertop/quartz, and variety of tiles at his beautiful new showroom. We actually called the headquarter of KITH cabinet/https://kithkitchens.com/ to find out their official kitchen store in Union county and they said 'My house kitchen'! I also compared the costs against several other kitchen stores and he had the best prices. His partner Alex, owner of Dano Development, led the remodeling project of our kitchen, bath and home. He was very communicative, thoughtful and professional and we couldn't ask for more! Bora and Alex worked together well and finished the project on time and stayed within the budget. We were so worried about our remodeling project at first due to our friend's bitter experience. However, in the end we are very happy with the experience from the beginning until the end and we have a dream kitchen and home now!
