They gave me a reasonable quote right away and said they could have a technician there within an hour. The technician called me as soon as he was on his way, and his ETA was only 15 minutes! In the meantime, we found out that one of the roommates could come let us in. I called back to cancel, fully expecting to still pay a $89 service fee since the technician was already on his way and almost there. To my surprise, they told me not to worry about it and canceled everything at no charge! The entire experience was so easy, and every interaction was quick, friendly, and professional. Even though I ended up not needing their services, I was genuinely impressed by their kindness and customer service. Truly night and day compared to other locksmiths I've dealt with in the past. The fob of my Honda CRV key had broken so I called them to get/program a new one. I offer to have…read morethem use the old blade, but the technician says that it's the same price to program a new electronic piece with or without a new blade. Fine... So I asked him to make a new blade. It doesn't go in as easily as the old blade but whatever. Fast forward 3 months later. I notice that my key sometimes takes a bit to lock or unlock the car. One night it doesn't work at all and it takes 45 minutes of trying to get into my car. Also, at this point I notice that the poorly-copied blade doesn't open the physical lock on the door! When I call Chicago Locksmiths about this, the technician says it's Honda's fault with the door and that the car key battery is probably dying. He was surprised when I told him that the old blade worked with the car door. So the following must be true 1) They made me a fob that only had 3 months of battery life or something is wrong with the transponder in the fob they programmed. 2) New blade was not properly cut. Update: They offered me a partial refund, cut the key into better shape, and reprogrammed a new fob. All done very quickly and conveniently. Came to my house to do it.

I paid the service fee for him to come and measure the lock I needed, as well as have him re-key another door. It's now been 3 months that I've been waiting for a simple phone call for someone to call me and say whether or not they will be able to add a lock to our sliding glass door. 3 months and not a single person at Keller Lock & Safe has been able to call me back and let me know if it's possible. Paul is the person who has come to measure twice (both times being hours late) and even when I've gotten ahold of other people, they always direct me back to him saying I need to connect with him to find out if a lock can be installed. I would have called someone else months ago except when he originally came over he broke our door and said he would fix it when he came back the next time. We scheduled the appointment for last Monday for him to come and give us an estimate in installing new locks on a two unit building (17 locks; it's not a small job). He showed up on Monday and we went over everything. He took down notes and I thought ok, this might work out after all. He said he'd get back to me with a price in a couple of days. Great! I am excited because he seemed like a nice guy. A week went by and I called to follow up the following Monday. At first, he didn't sound like he even remembered this job and then he said that his computer broke down so he couldn't email me the estimate. I told him to just to text me a bottom line quote. He said he will as soon as he get home. Nothing. Called again on Tuesday to follow up and he said he will get his partner to send me something by 1 PM because his computer still doesn't work and he got home late last night. It's now 1:40 PM and I have a feeling that this is not going to work between us after all... He didn't pick up his phone and I left a voicemail asking if he plan on getting back to me. I understand we can get busy (I also run my own business and I am a one-woman shop) but this is absolutely ridiculous! At least he could have just called and give me a reason why he couldn't get the estimate to me this third time around. NOTHING. Maybe they are great when they actually show up to do the work but as of now, I am extremely disappointed at the flakiness and the lack of professionalism this company have shown. I am counting the no. of calls I've made to get that initial estimate sent to me and it's over 6 calls of following up from me. I would never recommend them to anyone else unless they like to have a frustrating experience or need more drama in their life.
