Brewery with vegan options. Has a large patio as well as an indoor hall. It has vegan options like a Rueben sandwich, sausages and a snitzchel. Not great but good if you're there with friends.
The vibes here are really cool. There's a lot of different types of seating both in and outdoors. The pretzel was great and the currywurst was delicious. However, service can be really slow. Had to wait more than 45 minutes for one wurst with a side of slaw which was surprising for how small the plate was.
This is always a great experience. Great food and beer! We usually eat inside at the community tables but they have a huge area outside. Service is always friendly and helpful.

This was a bit disappointing for me as I was recommended this restaurant while I was in town and very excited. I sat down at the bar and was not greeted for a couple of minutes but figured it would be fine. Ordered a beer and it was pretty good, however the bartender did not really want to offer any help when choosing the beer. I mean for a place called biergarten you wouldn't expect them to have more cocktails available than beer. Which is how i summed this entire place up, a cocktail bar pretending to be a german bier house. I think through my entire hour and a half here the servers spoke at most two or three words to me. The only people i saw the bartenders speak to were other employees that were hanging out at the bar on their off day. Not one how are you? Or do you need anything, i had to flag down any server for anything. This was also after dinner rush so it was not busy. It really was strange. Ive been to many german restaurants/ biergarten type places and typically your servers are almost too nice. Also besides the stained glass window, there was tecno-pop house music in the backgrounds that definitely took away the fact I was in a german style place. I ordered the dill pickle schnitzel. My food was great. Probably the most redeeming quality of the entire visit is the food was well worth it. I think if you want to come with a large group and only talk amongst yourselves, this could be a place for you. But for me I was left wanting just basic service needs.
I really, really liked this place. You order at the counter and then they bring your beer and food to you. The inside seating area isn't massive but there is a large patio--the biergarten--out back. The interior is dark wood everywhere with gorgeous stained glass behind the bar. If a fresh pretzel is on the menu, we are getting it, and the one here is enormous and delicious. The beer cheese that is an optional accompaniment actually tasted like beer and was probably the best beer cheese I have ever tasted. Everyone hates on bologna, primarily because of the unbelievably disgusting gloppy Oscar Meyer stuff, but when it is done right, it is delicious. The fried bologna sandwich here, which comes with tick cut bologna, melted swiss cheese, shaved onions, and mustard aioli on marbled rye is superb. Get this sandwich and show the world bologna is a real food. I had to try the dortmunder beer, partly because of the bartender's recommendation but mostly because of the ridiculous name, and I loved it. It was flavorful and refreshing. This was a very good experience.

The patio bier garden is completely covered in cold months and is dog friendly - even the GIANT dogs! If it's a German food you want you can get it here: schnitzel, wurst, and... you get the idea. Find their menu online. Kraft brews are plentiful, and as many micro breweries do, Gemüt has a mug club arrangement for frequent customers. Friendly staff with plenty of bench style seating, indoors, and garden picnic table style seating outdoors. This is a great place, and lively, to talk with friends and meet new people. Fantastic for happy hour and for winding down the work week.
Went here for a surprise birthday dinner, as my partner read that the best burgers in Columbus were here. I have to say, the smash burger was pretty spectacular. It's exactly what I wanted out of a classic burger. Great burger patty size (not thin like some smash burgers), and great meat to cheese to bun ratio. The pickles were divine too. I didn't have bacon on mine, so can't speak to how that adds to the burger. My mom and sister had the mushroom burger which they loved as well. The sides were awesome too, the fries had the perfect crunch and the spaetzle was so comforting. We had the apple fritter for dessert. This was the one that was a let down for me- it just wasn't for me. I love apple desserts, but this didn't hit the spot for me. It was a little messy and I didn't love the way the batter was fried on the apple. Really, this is a personal preference thing. The restaurant is seat yourself, with options to sit outside on their patio or inside. Service is very quick and staff very friendly. We will definitely come back for burgers and to try the schnitzel!
Located in Olde Town East, Gemüt is an awesome restaurant and brewery. Inside, it feels and looks like an authentic German beer hall and the Biergarten in the back is fantastic! They have a great selection of beers on tap and the food is on point! Another great place to stop for your Oktoberfest celebrations!
Rainy Saturday so we opted for beer hall rather than beer garden. 5 of us all pleased with the food. Order yourself near bar. You are given a number flag for the table and food brought when ready. Nobody checked on us. Food was hot. Spetzel was my favorite. Gruyère cheese made it 5 *. We've been before when in town and will be back.

They have a great patio, I wish it would have been a little warmer for this.I started with Spatzel's and added bacon and French onions. Oh my these were so good I would get this every time I go. They beer selection was great, and everyone was so friendly that worked there. It was a great time for sure.

Stopped in for a few beers on a Sunday morning. Had the Dortmunder and a Peach Radler. Tasty. I believe the beer was $7 for a .5l and the Radler was $10.50 for a .5l. Was easily able to get a seat- entered through the patio. Had a variety of small tables, picnic tables, and benched + a gazebo with a table. I didn't even go inside and was able to order drinks to my table via the qr code. Didn't try the food as I had just eaten but everything smelled great. Back patio had some children's toys for kids to play with so good for families. read more

Worth the trip. Excellent outdoor seating and plenty of German eats (meat and vegan). The service was a little wonky--my friend's dish got served to the table next to ours, and we watched it growing colder for five minutes until a server walked by and the people brought the mistake to their attention. But, my friend ate it without complaint when it finally made it to our table. The beer was tasty, as was the vegan schnitzel. I wished the vegan schnitzel portion was as big as the meat-version (it was probably 2/3 the size), but the flavor was great. Pro tip: bring cash. The credit card service fee was a bit much. read more

Steeply overpriced for a flavorless hotdog in a mid bun with way too much mustard for a hotdog already coming with sauerkraut. Yikes. Yall see how much mustard they put on this thing??? Good lord it was thicker than the damn sausage itself. I rarely leave reviews but I needed to leave a review for this one. I was really hungry and it still didn't taste good. The spaetzel was alright though I find it hard to mess up since it's basically Mac n cheese. Don't go here if you're actually looking for food. The stained glass was pretty though it's fake. And the food came out instantly but it was a little concerning. read more
Not actually sure what this building used be before becoming a brewery. It is nice they kept a lot of the original architecture here. They have a nice patio and service is good. They have one big TV in the dining area and you would have to sit sideways if you wanted to watch a game. Beers were good, The pretzel wasn't anywhere near the best I've ever had. It was fairly hard on the outside and not too soft on the inside. Cheese dip was good, however. Decent size parking lot. It was my first time here and look forward to coming back to try more brews and food. read more

WOW! First of all, what a beautiful place. So tastefully done and everywhere you look there is something amazing. The service was awesome, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beer was delish, the food was even better. There is an outdoor area for kids to play with and my 2&3 yr olds both left saying how fun it was. Everything was ok. No cocktails just beer. I guess I got "German Village Taxed" which means restaurants feel like they can charge you more just because you're eating in a so called "exclusive" area. The Short North does it, Dublin Bridge Park area does it, Italian village does it etc. I came here for HAPPY HOUR and it's assumed that with Happy Hour there's some sort of discount or special but not so much. Ain't no way two happy hour appetizers and ONE Beer Should be $47 but this is what it was! $7 Beer was okay, $16 pretzel was decent with the $2 Upcharge for mustard and $2 Upcharge for Bier Cheese, $14 very small wing dings had a good sauce flavor but the "caraway ranch" and "bleu cheese" were indistinguishable from one another and WATERY. Service was fair so I left a tip and there you have it $47. Give em a go but expect to be "GERMAN VILLAGE TAXED" and if you go for "HAPPY HOUR," it's so expensive you might as well order an ENTREE instead read more
Paprika Schnitzel w/ kasepatzle & potato salad is the way to go! Well that was todays choice! Consistent good food and service even though this visit I waited a pretty good bit for my check. Pretty decent turnaround from ordering to be table as well. Inside is an old firehouse transformed into a German restaurant. Done alfresco on the patio, grab a bite to eat at the bar, or family style bench seething, or outback. Inviting atmosphere, friendly service, and the only issues I ever have is deciding what to order. Definitely recommend a meal or grabbing a beer here. read more
Love love this place. Olde Town East, the location. We've been here 2-3 times, and I just wanted to say some nice words. Gemüt is in an old firehouse, and there's a parking lot next to it. The food is really good for us. We're vegetarian/vegan, and there are a couple sandwiches that can be made vegan with meat from Seitan's Realm. Service is at the bar, and you grab a number. They'll deliver the food to your table. Water is self serve, and the beers come in 16 or 32 Oz. The beer garden is absolutely awesome. My favorite spot, so far. The pretzel. Have to get this pretzel. Get the Düsseldorf mustard. read more
Pro: food and space! Grow: ordering process unclear for first timer. I was in Ohio this past week and this brewery was just across the street from my Airbnb! I decided to give it a try for dinner and loved the food. This is a brewery/ restaurant and has both an indoor and outdoor space. I loved the outdoor space as it was covered and bright. There is a self serve water station and overall was a casual vibe. I was a bit confused about the ordering process and eventually realized I had to order at the bar! Food: I had the pork schnitzel with a side of veggies and a type of pasta! Absolutely loved it, the schnitzel was crunchy yet tender and the mushroom sauce complimented it well. I did feel it was missing some acid so I asked for a wedge of lemon. The lemon definitely brought it up to a 10. Both of the sides were perfectly cooked and overall felt like a warm meal made by someone who loves you! I did not try the beer but the food was good! I would definitely come back. read more

Before I moved out of Columbus, I had made a shortlist of places to check out before I left. This was top of the list - and I soon found out for good reason. Few places in the city where you can get the ambiance of a beer garden with the authenticity of quality German food. Schmidts is the only thing that comes close - and while the food there is better, the patio here is unbeatable. In such a pretty part of town that I hadn't really had the chance to explore all that much, A bit on the pricier side, so I opted for a smaller dish but it was still plenty filling - a generous portion of Kasespatzle with all the fixins'. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area - but honestly, just go out of your way to get this one checked off YOUR list like I did mine! read more
Have to say Gemut was a great Saturday Night Stop. New place on our radar but great experience. Just NE off I-71/Parsons, North of Main. Huge parkingh lot next door too. Historic building from roughly 1890, but nicely updated inside. Large community tables inside and great patio out back (a few tables in front too). We stopped for Drinks and Appetizers but ended up having dinner. Have specialty drinks, wine and of course their own beer. Highly recommend a flight with Dunkel, Golem Pilsner, Coffee Stout, and favorite Helheim Helles. (Not an IPA fan so stayed away from Hoppy options). All four (5 oz. each) were great but Helles and Dunkel were the best. Dinner we did Wiener Schnitzel. Great piece of Veal, opted for poach egg on top, with Potato Salad and the Kasespatzle (egg dumplings). Authentic and so Tasty!! highly recommend that combo. Everything here is order from the counter and they will bring it to you. Not a problem at all - staff was super attentive and fast. Helpful in ordering food and drinks too. We got there early, so no problems with a table, but it was crowded by the time we left around 7:30. Can't wait to go back and try the other beers and food. read more

We decided to sit in the outdoor biergarten, and it was a fantastic choice. The space was inviting--kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and most importantly, BIER-friendly! The atmosphere accurately captured the authenticity of a traditional German Biergarten. Ordering was a breeze. You could place your order at the bar or use the QR code on the table for a seamless experience. We opted for the QR code, and within moments, our drinks arrived. 1 Pils and 1 Helles - both were light, refreshing and full of flavor. With such an extensive beer list, it's impossible not to find something that suits your taste. We stopped for brunch, which is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I ordered the brunch burger--it was a bit messy with the egg, cheese, bacon, pickles and kraut sauce, but absolutely worth it! My wife chose the Gravlax and Cakes, which was nothing short of amazing. The dish featured potato pancakes topped with crème fraîche, salmon, egg, pickled onions, capers, and dill--a super German and super delicious. Overall experience was fantastic. The service was quick and efficient, and the food and drinks exceeded our expectations. With a birthday around the corner, I think a membership to the Wodens Hunting Club would make a wonderful gift! read more

Vegan options were both delicious and not boring. It's so hard to just find a veggie burger most of the time, so I was stoked to see a vegan Reuben and a Veganwurst on the menu. There was A vegan schnitzel too but we didn't try it. My wife who has eaten a ton of meat Reuben's in the past loved the vegan version. It was 1000x better than the vegan versions she's had before. 10/10 The beer was also delicious and the beertender let us try several and explained all the German beer varieties to us. We are from Colorado so we love beer but are used to more IPAs and sours. read more

We were starving, and the food still couldn't taste good. Geimut is a German joint with really interesting architecture-- stained glass windows and arched roofs-- and a distasteful menu with equally distasteful prices. I don't mind spending a penny on a good meal, but the prices for a sausage or some wings or some schnitzel was absurd. Absurd, I tell ya! The food came out instantly. Immediately red flag. The currywurst had absolutely no bite to it. How do you mess up a sausage that bad? It's like they peeled off the casing ?!?!? That's how dry, gritty, and soft it was. Unacceptable. Meijer brand microwave sausages have a better bite than that for $2 instead of $17. SEVENTEEN DOLLARS. Rute's was bland and it looked like someone accidentally dumped the entire bottle of mustard on her dog. The buns were dry, were not toasted nor warm. The meat to bun ratio was 3:1. Ridiculous. The curry flavor in the currywurst was diluted, like it showed up to class but never took notes. Relish was unappealing. The singular point this place gets is the cool architecture and the Kasespatzle, which was actually pretty good. Had nice flavor in the Gruyère. The pretzel was alright. Didn't have that signature pretzel chew. But the beer cheese ! Let me tell you about the beer cheese ! That beer was NOT cooked down, I could probably still have gotten tipsy off of it. That was 50% lager, 50% mild cheddar. That was beer soup. read more

10000/10 ambiance, food, and beer! Definitely a top recommendation for anyone visiting/living in the Columbus area. Being a classic German restaurant, I was happily surprised and impressed with the vegan options! The Vegan Rueben paired with the Curry ketchup was delicious. I will be going back to try the other vegan menu items. read more
I accompanied my husband on a work trip to Columbus and dined here per a recommendation of his co-worker. We enjoyed the experience a lot overall. The food was very good but not excellent. The stamps here with the large stained glass windows was lovely. The servers were friendly. When you come, you'll order at a counter and the food is brought out to you. read more
