Visited because we were in the area and pleasantly surprised. They have their own 14 beers on tap along with 6 visiting breweries to round out the offerings. We tried 10 out of 14 of their beers in 2 flights and it was a solid selection. Food was limited but good for a brewery. The worst "Jerk" chicken wings I've ever had, some suspicious blue cheese, and an attitude from the bartender that made it even worse. The jerk tasted like there was cinnamon in it. The blue cheese was separated and gross. I arrived for a comedy show, when I asked where the show was the bartender said "we'll tell you when it's time." Twenty minutes later and the show had begun seating and she never bothered to mention it. If I'd have sat, I'd have been far in the back. Overall, they were too understaffed and overworked to accommodate a $30 comedy show. There was a long line of folks trying to get drinks and the two of them couldn't manage the folks who were expecting service at their seats. Despite paying for a ticket, the vibes were off, and I skipped the show to go somewhere else with friends. This isn't my first negative experience as Nostalgia, but it will be my last. read more

I wandered in waaaaay off hours (2 pm on a Saturday afternoon) but think the relaxed, multiple-options for indoor/outdoor seating, cool, industrial feel, and friendly/knowledgeable people at the bar will be great any time, day or night!! Make sure you look over all their tempting offerings carefully... I picked my perfectly acceptable choice (peanut butter porter?) and then proceeded to see about 3 or 4 that would have been equally good/better? Not sure when/if I'm ever going to venture into another brewery w/out my favorite export beer connoisseur (impossibly hard...too much NOSTALGIA, even in a brewery we never visited) but it's a nice spot!! read more

I have been passing Nostalgia Brewing for half a year and have been meaning to try it. The outside is so welcoming with their sign. When I walked in, I felt very comfortable because of the environment they have set. It's very casual and has a lot of space and seating. There was a retirement party happening when I was there so that just tells you how much space they have! I appreciated that they have a variety of games for you to play while you are there having some drinks and food (Battleship, Guess Who, Apples to Apples - to name a few). I am actually not a beer drinker, but their beer list isn't too overwhelming. They have enough options for all types of beer drinkers and some crafty names for the beer, such as Marty McFly. It just makes you want to drink it! They also have cocktails and wine for anyone who is not a beer drinker. My friend and I got two flights and they are $10 each. Not badly priced at all. The mead is NOT a part of the flight. The beer and cider is okay. Nothing stood out to me, but nothing was terrible. We also ordered some food; tater tots, buffalo wings, and an Italian sub. For what we ordered, we waited a long time for it. Probably 30 minutes. The food was average. The tots were not really crunchy. The wings were okay - it had a quality of frozen wings you'd buy at the store. I appreciated the baguette they used for the sub. I think that was my favorite part. A new brewery. Nostalgia has a good selection. The owners had run Multiple Brewing in Nelsonville. It takes the place of Pigskin Brewing. Still new but they have a good variety. Bar is long and has many places you can sit at it. Patio is another nice area. The tables all are outside. It may be new but they have several of their selections already. My favorite was the Creekside. It's about $5.50 for a pint. This is crispy and smooth. They do have lots of beer on tap. It's some of their own along with many guest beers. Finally got to try some real food here tonight from their expanded menu! In addition the patio is open so come out and enjoy the nice weather with their new full menu! The prices are surprisingly low. We each got a sandwich + a side for about 8-9 dollars. Granted the sandwiches were arguably small-ish (for Americas ha) but still an amazing value for what you get. ITALIAN SUB - This was good, spicy to me, but good. The perfect amount of tangy. Only problem with this was that I ordered it without onions and there they were. I think this had to do with the servers working the floor but I'll get to that in a minute. As a side I got their soup of the week -- beef and barley. Yum! The beef was high quality but could have stood to be drained better before being added to the soup -- there was a lot of grease floating on top. POT ROAST SANDWICH - Yum, just as good as the mini slider. Amazing quality meat. My partner got mac and cheese as his side... not bad by any means but nothing to crave. As for the service comment I made, this is the third time I've been here and the third time I've felt like they were understaffed. For the entire inside, the bar, the entire covered patio, AND the uncovered patio there were 2 people on the floor. I have no beef with either of the employees working tonight -- it was very clear they were in high gear. Management should definitely add some staff to the floor though earlier on in the night (we saw one additional staff member come in at 8pm)... for the sake of the customers and their employees. Nostalgia was super cute. I loved their old-school "theme", and the seating was really comfortable. It was a bit hot with all of the windows and walls open mid-summer heat-wave, but the Mac & Cheese was delicious, and they had a great variety of beer types to suit most beer drinkers' needs. NOTES: -Located in a Designated Outdoor Recreation Area - so you can take your beers outside and enjoy a little bit of sunshine if that's your jam! -There's a huge parking gargage about a block and a half's walk away. You'll walk through the middle of the outdoor area (and it's cute fountain and bridge), and it looks adorable. -Most of the available walls were open for air flow when we were here. -Good variety of different types of seating. There's bar seating next to the taps, picnic table seating, and some tables with four armless chairs indoors. All of the outdoor chairs have arms. -They have cans to-go too. Smaller selection than what they have available, but it exists. -QR codes available on tables to view the menu up-close if you're not in easy viewing of the menus. -Nostalgia Brewing has themed cocktails, their own beers, and a selection of wine too. It isn't just beers here! PROS: -The "old school gamer" theme here is adorable and nerdy. There are Pac Mac draft handles, giant Star Wars character cut-outs, Tetris bricks on the walls, and the entire place uses a "pixel" font. -We both really, really liked the Pretzel Bites. Their beer cheese is SO good. I highly recommend planning to eat these while they're still fresh and delivered to your table. As soon as they get cold, they get rock hard, but while they're still warm, they're amazing. -I was super, super, duper excited to have a Mac and Cheese Skillet. SUPER excited. I got the Mac & Cheese Skillet with Chicken, Bacon, and Ranch (with a request to hold the Bacon). It was just as delicious as expected, and it had a nice, smokey flavor that was a great addition. So creamy and delicious, and I only finished about half of it. My tablemate didn't finish all their food either. Those are some big portion sizes! -Service was very, very friendly and attentive. Our server stopped in constantly, was happy to refill my soda and our waters, and was very friendly. They knew a lot about the offerings - which was helpful because we hadn't been here before. CONS: -The beer flight plate/container feels a bit cheap. (Well, it is. It's just PVC piping put together.) This doesn't necessarily affect my experience, but I hope Nostalgia ends up getting the funds to be able to upgrade these. A flight board can really be a defining characteristic of a brewery, and theirs is okay and functional - but I hope to see it looking more on-brand someday. -All of their beer has a slight metallic taste. We both think it's likely just Gahanna's natural water taste. It doesn't affect the beers too much, but it's definitely something you can taste. -We weren't super impressed by any of the beers. None of them were bad that we tried (none at all!) and they were totally worth trying, but when we were walking out and trying to decide which cans of beer we wanted to take home, we couldn't really find one that seemed worth having more cans of. Hopefully we'll fall in love with more things on their next rotation. (The ones we were really excited for were tapped out this time around.) read more

This place was perfect for what we needed - a convenient place to gather near the yoga studio which could accommodate a group for lunch on a Sunday morning. The owner was nice enough to let our group in before their actual opening time. It took a while for guests to arrive - and we had the whole "patio" (temporary walls put up with heating lamps - did a great job for December!) to ourselves. Casual picnic table seating with a water station available to get some self-serve while we gathered. The menu was very limited. But apparently it had enough so that everyone had something they could eat. For me - who only eats salads - I was pleased they had a simple salad which I could get chicken added to. Hubby got the Italian sub. They were clearly not equipped for a group our size - but everyone got a drink and everyone got food. My salad was fresh and the chicken breast was moist and flavorful. Hubby's sub was fine. Pricing was fair - given the type of food they serve. I think the location, overall, is great. The Creekside parking garage is close by - as is street parking and the city lot. I'm sure it's nice on a summer evening. Will I be back? Nope. I don't drink. And even though I was told they are adding another salad to the menu, I think the draw is more for the drinking crowd - and not people like me. I'm going to preface this review with a warning, I was not a big fan of Pig Skin Brewing, and Nostalgia is located in the previous space of Pig Skin. When we arrived I was struck at how it almost looked exactly like Pig Skin. They did not change much except the tiles behind the taps that are now suppose to look like a cassette tape. I get what Nostalgia is going for, I mean it is in the name, but I feel that it is a little bit of a weak presentation of it when entering the brewery. We visited on a Friday during happy hour. We saw that they had happy hour, but we couldn't find the list of their happy hour specials until we requested the bill and it was like a bookmark almost. It came out with the bill. I took a picture with the hope that at least it would help future guests know what the happy hour specials are. When visiting a brewery for the first time I always order a flight of their beers. I got Dawg Pound Brown, Coconut Crag, Mix Tape, and Chocolate Midnight. We also ordered buffalo chicken dip, which was suggested by the bartender, and not on happy hour. Each beer I sampled did its best to wet my palate, but I was underwhelmed by one after another. I desperately wanted to love the Coconut Crag, because I love coconut, but I couldn't even detect the coconut. I was disappointed. The buffalo chicken dip was edible, but it didn't wow us either. I have read other reviews that rave about Nostalgia. I think this is a great example that everybody's taste is different. So try Nostalgia out for yourself and see what you think. read more

Plenty of indoor seating as well. Great beer selection, something for everyone! My sisters took me here when I was visiting over the weekend. They had a nice patio area where we could sit outside and safely away from others. We were here for awhile and enjoyed a couple flights along with the buffalo chicken dip. I really liked their beer selection (have something for everyone)! The food was ok. The venue was spacious and makes for an awesome patio venue during those summer/fall days and nights. Since we were coming just for drinks, I don't have any specifics on food quality/variety, but the beer variety was decent. There were around 12-15 options for craft beers, which seems like an okay selection, but like most craft beer places, the beer prices seem way overpriced. Some beers were priced up to $9. However, service was good. Our bartender was nice and attended to us as needed. Overall, this is a nice summer/fall area when in Gahanna, and also a good spot to grab an after dinner beverage. read more

Nostalgia Brewing is a great brewery located along the creek side in Gahanna. If you are looking for a night out with dinner and drinks, I would chose to go somewhere else for dinner first. I ordered a pretzel and a hot dog with a side of mashed potatoes. The pretzel and the hot dog were both just alright, nothing special about them. The mashed potatoes did taste as though they had been in a hot well all day and had a slightly soured taste to them. I would not let the food affect your view on Nostalgia, while they do have a small menu, it's still primarily a brewery. The food is just there for your convenience. The beers and customer service on the other had are OUTSTANDING. I got a Peanut butter porter called no wrong way and it was easily one of the best beers I've ever had. They are all very reasonable priced at $6 a glass! So do yourself a favor and stop in for a cold one here! read more

A few of us decided to check out Nostalgia on a whim. We knew it was new so we ignored the signs of a poorly run business. There were maybe 5 other customers on a Sunday night-- it was dead silent. After about 6 minutes, no one greeted us. So we went up to the bar to order drinks. It was Cinco de Mayo, so I asked the bartender if there were any specials for Cinco de Mayo. With an attitude she asks, what do you mean? I said, "like any specials on Margaritas?" She said, "yes, we make margaritas. If you look in the menu its right there." I repeated myself, "do you have any specials?" She responds in a serious and annoyed manner, "how much more special do you want it?" I thought maybe she was confused or having a bad day. So I was trying to explain it more. So I said, "specials, like deals? On Margaritas? Because its Cinco de Mayo?" "As it says in the menu its $6, so its $6." So I responded, "so, no? You dont have specials then?" She points towards outside and tells us, "You can order from your table." I can excuse ignorance, but disrespect and an attitude are unacceptable. It's a shame. I cant even review on the quality of the food or drinks. Because for that to happen, we actually would've needed someone to take our orders. And I did not give this woman any attitude, because I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she truly was ignorant of what "specials" and "cinco de mayo" means. Coming from a family who owned a few restaurants, I know any reasonable business would appreciate feedback so they can improve on their service. My feedback for Nostalgia: 1- have a sign in the front that says seat yourself, or have someone to greet the customer. 2- hire friendly, capable workers. read more

Let me first say that it pains me to lower my review as I want nothing more than Nostalgia to succeed. My first experience was great but since visiting on numerous occasions, I can't stand by my original review. Service is either great or awful. Sometimes drinks come in less than 5 minutes, others 15. Sometimes the beers are filled to the top, others a solid inch short of a full pour. Nostalgia is under new management from the owners in the spring so I hope they can turn this place around operationally. Additionally, the theme is super weak. So I replicated my order from the first time of being here... order a flight, cinnamon chipotle wings, and slider trio. Ya I'm a little fat, but hey, I like to eat. They nailed it again and I couldn't be happier with my food and drink! 5 star all day long and will only get better as they take care of the following: - little quicker service (It wasn't bad but it wasn't great... the other side of this is they were actually interacting with customers, for that reason I'm not dinging a star) - put something on the walls, it is too empty. With the outdoor area that you have make your inside busy with awesome local pictures and shit... hell the name is Nostalgia... do it - crush outside, this area looks fabulous and everyone in Columbus should know when the warm weather comes - make a shirt people would actually buy... use the name and present old school facts and lock down that brewery feel. - I don't know where you brew, but you don't have the brewery smell here. Nice atmosphere and not noisy like some bars and restaurants. The menu is small in terms of choices but we have been happy the few times we were here. Service was very prompt and friendly. Waters and even a requested beer sample were quickly served up. My special request for my Rueben sandwich was served perfectly. Our pretzel bite appetizer was generous and very tasty. This used to be Pigskin Brewing in the Creekside area of Gahanna. We'd been there a few times - beer was okay, food wasn't bad. It sold recently and we thought we would stop for a brew on our way home from the airport. Sorry, not a great first impression (almost just three stars, jumped to four see below) - 1) Bartenders gathered in a circle chatting when we walk in. We were finally greeted and treated well, but that view for me kinda turns me off. 2) Ever ben to a actual brewery? There is an odor - not sure if it is malt or hops or whatever, but it has a smell. I like that smell when you are just having beer, but this place had a full food menu and the smell sorta turned us off from eating. Good news - the bartenders started paying attention to us, giving us beer samples and talking about their brewing etc. I liked what I tasted (of course can't remember any of the names) and we will come back. read more

Found this place during the Jazz and Blues Festival. The location near Creekside is beautiful. There's a lovely breeze with a patio and sheltered tables. We didn't eat anything but the porter and stout were very refreshing. We want to come back. read more
