The service was wonderful, and our waitress even taught me how to eat the Maine clams pictured here which don't look like it but are DELICIOUS. Unfortunately Geddy's has taken a real nose dive. It was always a one trick pony but that trick was a perfectly cooked classic Maine Lobster. No more, had the most overcooked lobster not to mention the other food we ordered which was inedible. We got a bloody and it was barely drinkable. Place has gone full on tourist cash grab. It used to at least try to offer drinks and Lobster. I think this will be our last visit, there are too many other places in Maine that nail it every time. But after doing my fair share of research on Bar Harbor restaurants, I decided to give it a go, and I must say, this place is definitely worth the hype even though it is located in a tourist trapped area! I was reading up on this place and thought it was pretty cool that the seafood offered her comes straight from the harbor. I ordered two things, to start off, the steamers and I was wowed by how amazing they were. Then I went for the full Lobster meal which also came with corn on the cob and New England clam chowder and at the end- a blueberry pie. With the lobster for $4.00 more you have the option for the chef to open up the lobster for you and serve you all the meat without the hassle of digging through and cracking the shells which is perfect for those who don't have experience with opening a lobster. I however am a pro and throughly enjoy the full experience of going through a full lobster. Now I am from New Jersey, I am use to experiencing phenomenal seafood when it comes to clams and lobsters- however, this Lobster had to be the best I have ever had in my life- I am actually upset because it has changed my mind about eating lobster anywhere else ever again. Every single bite was pure buttery magic. The corn on the cob was also very fresh and New England clam chowder I found to be very average. Now onto the blueberry pie- I hate blueberries and I'm not a big pie person but somehow this place changed my mind because I thought WOW is this how really good pies are suppose to taste?! The fish and chips were absolutely amazing! The batter was different from the typical batter. The server said it was made from rice flour, corn flour, and chickpea flour so that those who don't eat gluten can have it too. The fish was moist and flaky. We also ordered calamari for our appetizer which was served on a bed of slaw. The slaw consisted of cabbage and peppers with a sweet chili sauce that complemented the calamari. My husband also had a bowl of clam chowder which he said was thick and creamy with loads of clams. Service was very good. The wall decor is very interesting. Lobster "lazy style" (add $4) We were recommended this place from somebody in a gift shop and when we came in they were on an hour wait !! even though it's raining heavily here. Every staff member that works here is super friendly and we even saw a few crewmembers from Adventure OTS sneaking in some time off ship eating lobster oysters muscles and clam chowder (by the way the clam chowder is exceptional). Small quieter dining room in the back, so likely you may be seated in the bar area tables even with reservations. Tables are pretty close together. I thought spirt and wine prices were pretty reasonable - especially for a vacation spot. We began with a steamed clams appetizer. Large clams and very good, although pretty high price for clams at $24. We found the clam chowder ok, but too thick and a bit flour taste. The Lobster in the Lobster bake was great. For $48 you get a 1 lb lobster, ear of corn, and small clam chowder. A bit high for lobster in Maine but have to remember in a tourist area. The lobster was perfectly steamed, tender, juicy, and sweet flavor. Seemed very fresh. Ok, we came her for the lobster, but we fell in love with the pizza! The lobster bake and the lobster roll were delicious, but the sausage and stout pizza is the clear winner here. When we took our first bite, we were blown away by the stout glaze! It was such a sweet surprise because it had the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the sausage and to add to the natural sweetness of the caramelized onions. If you decide to dine at Geddy's, I highly suggest making reservations online ahead of time as there could be quite a wait for dinner (evening during the week). I tried to go here for dinner on a Monday evening and were quoted a wait of 1.5 hours (they text when your table is ready). We decided to go elsewhere, but came back for lunch a couple days later. Food and service here is pretty good. Prices for their lobster are pretty comparable to other restaurants downtown. Opted to share the Cap'n Geddy's Lobster Bake, which came with a cup of clam chowder, steamed lobster (1-1.25lbs), corn on the cob, and a slice of blueberry pie. Market price for this was $48. I tried a little bit of the clam chowder, which I didn't care to much for. The lobster was fairly meaty, tender, and a little sweet. Corn on the cob was standard, but it was nice to get a whole ear of corn rather than half. Blueberry pie wasn't bad. It was packed with berries and was slightly sweet. I thought the crust could have been cooked longer as it seemed a little raw. I also tried some of the salmon teriyaki, which was surprisingly pretty good. My family and I were visiting Bar Harbor for the day and stopped here for lunch. I have allergies to dairy, eggs, and nuts, so I wasn't expecting much in terms of safe options. But our waiter, Tim, was absolutely amazing. He double-checked everything with the chef and made sure my meal was totally allergen-free--no cross-contamination, nothing. Thanks to him, I was able to try lobster for the first time ever, and I felt completely safe doing it. It honestly made my whole trip. The food itself? Incredible. We had one lobster bake and two lobster rolls, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The lobster rolls especially were packed with flavor and super satisfying. If you have food allergies, definitely let them know right away. They have a extremely detailed allergen booklet and can modify dishes to suit your needs. Super allergy-aware and very accommodating. Came here to check out the lobster roll options but chose instead Shrimp & Scallop Scampi with an add in of lobster. Portions were good as was the overall taste. But for the money there was not near enough actual seafood on it. A fair number of small scallops but only 3 shrimp and the lobster were "bits" not chunks you'd recognize. Appeared other tables were getting lobster rolls with "bits" as well. As there are many options for lobster (check out Beal's) not worth the money to get half an experience. Thanks for your response. To be clear it wasn't a presumption on my part that the price for the 3 Seafood was excessive to the actual amount of meat. I counted the shrimp and scallops and picked through for Lobster. In NEither mine or my wife's platter were there any lobster pieces larger than 1 cubic centimeter. My wife and I had dinner at Geddy's last Friday (10/24). The staff was kind enough to let us move up our reservation a half-hour, and seate us right away. our waitress (Abbie, I believe) was very friendly and attentive, and gave us a very good flavor of the area as we were giving our order. The food came out quickly, and was terrific. The atmosphere in the restaurant has a very welcoming rock and roll vibe to it, and the energy in the place crackles. We will surely return to Geddy's when we come back to Bar Harbor next spring. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

It was this or The Chart Room for our first dinner in Bar Harbor, and I am so glad we went with Geddy's. Granted, it was a bit tough to find parking (we got lucky), and at first, we accidentally walked into the gift shop, but the food was def worth it. If you come for dinner, it's also nice to be able to walk through the park to the water around sunset. When we were getting seated, one of the servers was showing a group of children a live lobster, which must have been an interesting learning experience for them. We were seated right in front of the lobster tanks, and it was a bit loud, but it quieted down once a big table next to us left. There's a lot of seating available indoors but I would recommend reservations. I ordered the Mini Lobster Bake and it was the perfect entree for me, because it lets you sample a bit of everything -- clam chowder, lobster roll, and blueberry tart. The food was amazing. We also had oysters and they were pretty big and fresh! I really liked the slice of blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream that we ordered for the table--the pie was so nice and warm and absolutely delicious. One entree I wouldn't recommend is the Shrimp & Scallop Scampi. Waaaay too much butter. It'll just make you feel gross after eating it. read more

Bottom Line: Fun décor and a good bit of variety on the menu but service was a bit disappointing. There are a lot of restaurants in Bar Harbor with four star reviews on Yelp so it was hard to decide which one to go to for lunch. My husband and I both ordered Geddy's "Maine" Lobster Roll which is a bit unique because it is topped with charred corn. I upgraded my side to sweet potato fries with Geddy's homemade cranberry ketchup. I thought the cranberry ketchup on sweet potato fries was genius and probably the tastiest side I had while visiting Maine. My husband was not as enthusiastic about the corn on the lobster roll and ranked Geddy's seventh of the seven lobster rolls he had while on our trip in Maine. But I think being ignored for 10+ minutes might have left a bad taste in his mouth as I enjoyed my lobster roll, corn and all. We made reservations, but based on the crowd around 230 we would have been fine without one The menu had a fair number of intriguing options, but the one that stood out the most to me was the seafood pie. The description made it sound kind of like a shepherd's or pot pie but with seafood. Having never seen a dish like that before made it an easy choice for me The seafood pie ended up being a bit more like a seafood soup, as there wasn't really a pie base. The rich buttery broth was delicious and they do not hold back on how much seafood they give you. The seafood itself was nothing super noteworthy, but if you're looking for a variety this isn't a bad option. Most of our group thought the food was okay, but given the price point you'd expect a more memorable food experience. Our server was very nice and willing to accommodate separate checks for a large group. We had some issues with their QR code payment system, this held us up for about 15m as we tried to pay. Not a huge deal but would recommend sticking to card payment. The vibe of the restaurant is okay, it's a little packed in there seat wise and if it were busier I think we would've had a hard time hearing our conversation. We were seated by the window so we had a nice view, but the rest of the inside has a pretty dingy feel Overall our experience was okay, if you're walking by and need a place for a sizable meal I don't think you'll be disappointed.
