I would rate this restaurant a three, primarily due to two aspects. First, our experience with the waiter was somewhat lacking. My brother-in-law had ordered the Lobster Roll, and we all heard him, but when the waiter brought out the dish, it was entirely different. After we explained that we ALL heard him say Lobster roll, he left and returned with the SAME DISH suggesting, "Are you sure you didn't change your mind?" It felt like he was insistent on serving that particular dish. Secondly, the food, while decent, didn't come in generous portions, which was surprising considering the prices they charged. If you don't mind paying a bit more for decent food and service that's not exceptional but not terrible either, then this might be the right place for you. I hate to say this but this place is so as good as I expected to be as I have heard so much about it. I guess it is too tourist?? Everything was very small portioned for the price we paid. Bot the calamari and the salmon dish we have was packed with sautéed vegetables to make the look bigger than what it really is. The lobster platter wasn't fulfilling for one person. The lobster had no meat and I didn't care for the chowder that have mostly potatoes. The corn was sweet though. That's all that is to say about it. The mussel was so little and only a very small portioned. The fish and chips as ok. Overall everything was OK not good. For the price we pay, it is overpriced. Will not recommend for anyone. Last August, we chose Geddy's in part because we were promised a seat "with a view" when making a reservation, and we figured "It's Maine, the seafood has to be good." Well, the view turned out to be of the men's bathroom door and the food wasn't much better. My toddler had the men's room to his right and wasted tourists a few feet behind him at the bar. (One actually fell off her stool onto the floor) This was not a family friendly place to sit. We were told it was the only option. He was probably happiest with his meal--chicken fingers and fries. That's toddler heaven. On a hunch, I skipped seafood and ordered a burger. It was the best thing we got-quality beef on a tasty bun. I also had a forgettable, watery cup of chowder. Grama's excitement for Cap'n Geddy's Lobster Bake was tangible--until she had a few bites. Her disappointment was tangible after that, and she pushed it away. That $45 dish was her initial reason for picking Geddy's. She asked if we could get ice cream after dinner. My son gave her a chicken tender so she'd not leave hungry. Both the hostess and waitress were a little surly, no doubt from dealing with tourists all summer. We didn't feel particularly welcome at any time during our visit.. One area where Cap'n Geddy nails it: Beer list. They had brews from some of the better Maine breweries as well as touristy stuff. My IPA was one of the better ones on a trip that included visits to Bissell Bros and Maine Beer Co. In summary: We were very disappointed with Geddy's and will not return. I suspect, although I have no evidence to support it, that this place is hella-busy in-season. We went in Mid-April and it was easy to get seated and order. Our waitress was very attentive. The Lobster Bake included a delicious clam chowder which hit all the right notes of flavor, clam-density, and mouth-feel. 5 stars. The lobster came with claws and tail pre-scored so it was easy to open and easy to eat and waa very fresh. Texture A+, Flavor A+. The corn on the cob was sweet and cooked perfectly, delicious and fresh. Fish tacos were delicious and easy to eat. We came on a Saturday and Sunday night (only a few restaurants opened during off season). On a Saturday night, we waited about an hour for a table for 2. We wanted to grab a drink while we waited, but the hosts denied us. Overall, food was good. Not overly delicious, but definitely hit the spot. Beers on tap and in cans, good variety of IPAs. We were disappointed in our visit. After making reservations, ensuring I included we had someone in a wheelchair, we were seated at a tall table. Additionally, the restaurant is not handicap accessible. My father is in a motorized wheelchair. It takes up no more room than a normal wheelchair (not a scooter). We had to be taken around the block to come through the back door. It took the gentleman host and myself to help get his wheelchair up the ramped driveway given the rocky and uneven path. I can assure you, this wouldn't meet the American Disability requirement. This was a major frustration and bad start to the night. The food was ehh, nothing to write home about, and unfortunately we needed something wowing to overlook everything else. Finally, though we weren't expecting any type of comp, our waitress did say she was comping the two desserts for the table. When the bill came, she gave us $15 off, however the two slices of pie were more than $10 each. Again, it wasn't expected or needed, just another ding to the evening. After a 4-hour long drive from Georgetown, MA, I prayed to baby Jesus something might be open. I searched savagely for places to eat in Bar Harbor and most came up as closed for the season and reopening in April or May. Geddy's on Main St- came up as closing at 8pm so we placed our pickup order about 45 minutes away. Restaurant seems large, has good pub looks with a nautical theme. Because of Maine's high COVID numbers, Geddy's is just doing a 25% indoor capacity as opposed to NY's 50. Even if we wanted to sit at the bar, Geddy's has no partitions but they strictly keep the 6' distance at the bar by skipping 2 high stools. Regardless of their '8pm closing', if we changed our minds to sit in, we realized Geddy's was still honoring folks who reserved before us. So pickup it was. Service was excellent by the guy in the front and our food was o......k. My Blueberry Lemonade was excruciatingly sweet and threw it away after the first sip. My Seafood 'pie' looked more like a ''deconstructed' pie or worse- a hot mess. I mean...it had small chunks of lobster, fish, scallops and shrimp with butter and cream notes. My mess tasted good though- but hubs' Broiled lemony-butter Haddock was better of the two. A scoop of jasmine rice was served on both our dishes- except rice was mushy. (~_~;). What a fun place. We came on the last week of the season for the town, so we were very thankful They were open and we were pleasantly surprised by both the food and service! It was my first lobster bake, so I was a little intimidated by cracking a lobster, but our super sweet and awesome server made me feel so welcome and walked me through it. We have a great seafood scene along the gulf coast, but lobsters are not our thing, so obviously I had to do it while in ME. Delicious, perfectly cooked sweet meat. My wife really enjoyed the margaritas, and the calamari app was delicious with the sauce and veggie bed. Stopped here the other night for the last night in Maine. There wasn't a wait time but the place was packed. The service was great, and the inside was really nice.
