Thank you for the great gluten free options. We ate there the two nights we were in Bar Harbor because of that, and the fish and chips! My husband had them the first night and I tried them; I had a hot butter lobster roll. The next night I went back for the fish and chips and I will dream of them at home in Michigan. They were amazing and delicious. Both servers were outstanding and attentive. I'm sorry that I didn't write down their names. The store is also a fun addition to the experience. I bought lobster lounge pants. read more

Lobster "lazy style" (add $4) We were recommended this place from somebody in a gift shop and when we came in they were on an hour wait !! even though it's raining heavily here. Every staff member that works here is super friendly and we even saw a few crewmembers from Adventure OTS sneaking in some time off ship eating lobster oysters muscles and clam chowder (by the way the clam chowder is exceptional). Lobster roll was only $36 which is surprisingly cheap because in other restaurants here it was near $50. Athena at the bar was super busy and very friendly and has a great tattoo. read more

I was hesitant about coming here because I feared it might be too touristy for my taste. But after doing my fair share of research on Bar Harbor restaurants, I decided to give it a go, and I must say, this place is definitely worth the hype even though it is located in a tourist trapped area! I was reading up on this place and thought it was pretty cool that the seafood offered her comes straight from the harbor. I ordered two things, to start off, the steamers and I was wowed by how amazing they were. Then I went for the full Lobster meal which also came with corn on the cob and New England clam chowder and at the end- a blueberry pie. With the lobster for $4.00 more you have the option for the chef to open up the lobster for you and serve you all the meat without the hassle of digging through and cracking the shells which is perfect for those who don't have experience with opening a lobster. I however am a pro and throughly enjoy the full experience of going through a full lobster. Now I am from New Jersey, I am use to experiencing phenomenal seafood when it comes to clams and lobsters- however, this Lobster had to be the best I have ever had in my life- I am actually upset because it has changed my mind about eating lobster anywhere else ever again. Every single bite was pure buttery magic. The corn on the cob was also very fresh and New England clam chowder I found to be very average. Now onto the blueberry pie- I hate blueberries and I'm not a big pie person but somehow this place changed my mind because I thought WOW is this how really good pies are suppose to taste?! It was just mind blowing. I am so upset this place is so far away from home but I really hope to return one day. This really was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. read more

If you decide to dine at Geddy's, I highly suggest making reservations online ahead of time as there could be quite a wait for dinner (evening during the week). I tried to go here for dinner on a Monday evening and were quoted a wait of 1.5 hours (they text when your table is ready). We decided to go elsewhere, but came back for lunch a couple days later. Food and service here is pretty good. Prices for their lobster are pretty comparable to other restaurants downtown. Opted to share the Cap'n Geddy's Lobster Bake, which came with a cup of clam chowder, steamed lobster (1-1.25lbs), corn on the cob, and a slice of blueberry pie. Market price for this was $48. I tried a little bit of the clam chowder, which I didn't care to much for. The lobster was fairly meaty, tender, and a little sweet. Corn on the cob was standard, but it was nice to get a whole ear of corn rather than half. Blueberry pie wasn't bad. It was packed with berries and was slightly sweet. I thought the crust could have been cooked longer as it seemed a little raw. I also tried some of the salmon teriyaki, which was surprisingly pretty good. The salmon was cooked well and wasn't drenched in teriyaki sauce. The rice on the other hand was overcooked and pretty sticky. read more

The fish and chips were absolutely amazing! The batter was different from the typical batter. The server said it was made from rice flour, corn flour, and chickpea flour so that those who don't eat gluten can have it too. The fish was moist and flaky. We also ordered calamari for our appetizer which was served on a bed of slaw. The slaw consisted of cabbage and peppers with a sweet chili sauce that complemented the calamari. My husband also had a bowl of clam chowder which he said was thick and creamy with loads of clams. Service was very good. The wall decor is very interesting. You can't go wrong if you eat here. read more

Geddy's is good, a good place for families and/or tourists. They are right along the water and have NE swag for purchase. The service was great, the drinks were mediocre as was the food...I was shocked when they brought out my lobster and they had cut the tail down the center. I have to assume this is done for folks who don't know how to eat a whole lobster, it makes no sense to me. The blueberry pie was delicious, I wouldn't have ordered it, but it came with my husband's meal and I am so glad it did nom nom! read more

Great location, fast service and decent food if a bit overpriced. In addition to the photos we enjoyed the steamed clams and clam chowder. Both were decent and served hot. Portions were lacking for the price. Fun, busy restaurant in the heart of Bar Harbor! read more

Very popular and fun atmosphere. Better make reservations or be prepared for a long wait - although bar seating is 1st come 1st serve. Small quieter dining room in the back, so likely you may be seated in the bar area tables even with reservations. Tables are pretty close together. We were seated in the bar area and would have much preferred the main dining room. Our service was great with Keagan. He did a good job being attentive to our needs and keeping us informed. I thought spirt and wine prices were pretty reasonable - especially for a vacation spot. We began with a steamed clams appetizer. Large clams and very good, although pretty high price for clams at $24. We found the clam chowder ok, but too thick and a bit flour taste. The Lobster in the Lobster bake was great. For $48 you get a 1 lb lobster, ear of corn, and small clam chowder. A bit high for lobster in Maine but have to remember in a tourist area. The lobster was perfectly steamed, tender, juicy, and sweet flavor. Seemed very fresh. The accompanying corn was pretty bland and while tender may have been sitting for a time before being served given the flavor. read more

Amazing. Too many good options! Should I get the clam chowder, fish & chips, lobster bake, or pizza? I eventually settled on the Fish & Chips and Clam Chowder . They were amazing! The service was pretty fast too. And it was cool to see the sharks on the wall staring into your soul. read more

Ok, we came her for the lobster, but we fell in love with the pizza! The lobster bake and the lobster roll were delicious, but the sausage and stout pizza is the clear winner here. When we took our first bite, we were blown away by the stout glaze! It was such a sweet surprise because it had the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the sausage and to add to the natural sweetness of the caramelized onions. We finished the entire pizza even though we wanted to save some for later! I will be dreaming of that pizza for a very long time! read more

Think this place is a bit too overhyped. Had high expectations based on the reviews but to be honest it was pretty mediocre. I'd give it 3 stars but the pie was really good lol. The service was also pretty good so not giving it a 3. Overall I think the food is on the blander side which can be beneficial for people who don't like salty stuff. Blueberry Soda (5/5) Pretty good! sweet and blueberry flavor: thought i'd get refills like it wld be from tap but lol but it's chill. i still rlly liked it!! Shrimp & Scallop Scampi (3/5) Not enough flavor. Lacked in seasoning. Not gonna lie tasted like buttered noodles with lemon. Only enjoyed the shrimp and scampi. Was it worth $25, hmm idk. Would not get again. Geddy's "Maine" Lobster Roll (4/5) I haven't tried a lobster roll other than this time so I have nothing to compare this sandwich to. I don't know what's considered a good lobster roll but from this I wouldn't say I love this sandwich. It was a toasty bread with cold lobster. My family enjoyed it but I didn't care too much for it. Atlantic Seafood Pie (3.5/5) Hmm lacked flavor. Good amount of seafood though. Very creamy, seems like a diluted seafood bisque. I don't like the feeling of cream with rice so not a huge fan. Might just be me! Didn't feel like the side veggies really went well with them either. Blueberry Pie (5/5) Yes. Get it. This redeemed the whole meal. Love love loved this pie. Demolished it within two minutes of it coming out. read more

We went to Geddy's on a busy Friday night, Sept. 30. Thankfully we had made a reservation for 7:30. There were people being told that the wait was 2 hours. Ack! I would definitely recommend a reservation, or take out. Once seated, the service was pretty quick and efficient. The waitress was not particularly friendly but not at all unpleasant. When asked, one of the items she recommended were the ahi tacos which I did order. I thought they were delicious. The apple "pico" on the tacos was different in a very good way, crisp, light and tasty. My husband had the fish and chips. The portion size of the fish was good, probably 6-7 ounces. The breading was light and it was cooked well. read more

Came here to check out the lobster roll options but chose instead Shrimp & Scallop Scampi with an add in of lobster. Portions were good as was the overall taste. But for the money there was not near enough actual seafood on it. A fair number of small scallops but only 3 shrimp and the lobster were "bits" not chunks you'd recognize. Appeared other tables were getting lobster rolls with "bits" as well. As there are many options for lobster (check out Beal's) not worth the money to get half an experience. Thanks for your response. To be clear it wasn't a presumption on my part that the price for the 3 Seafood was excessive to the actual amount of meat. I counted the shrimp and scallops and picked through for Lobster. In NEither mine or my wife's platter were there any lobster pieces larger than 1 cubic centimeter. So my position stands that for the prices the meal although tasty wasn't sufficiently balanced with actual seafood. Other places do better in this regard. read more

Bottom Line: Fun décor and a good bit of variety on the menu but service was a bit disappointing. There are a lot of restaurants in Bar Harbor with four star reviews on Yelp so it was hard to decide which one to go to for lunch. We picked Geddy's since the reviews for their lobster rolls seemed to be good. Immediately upon entering I was digging the fun décor which reminds me of a seaside watering hole for fisherman. We were seated immediately where we sat unattended for at least 10 minutes. We debated leaving or going to the bar. Ready to order, we let the hostess know we were re-locating to the bar since a server had not come to the table. Service at the bar was excellent. My husband and I both ordered Geddy's "Maine" Lobster Roll which is a bit unique because it is topped with charred corn. I upgraded my side to sweet potato fries with Geddy's homemade cranberry ketchup. I thought the cranberry ketchup on sweet potato fries was genius and probably the tastiest side I had while visiting Maine. My husband was not as enthusiastic about the corn on the lobster roll and ranked Geddy's seventh of the seven lobster rolls he had while on our trip in Maine. But I think being ignored for 10+ minutes might have left a bad taste in his mouth as I enjoyed my lobster roll, corn and all. For those not wanting a lobster roll, Geddy's menu has a nice variety of seafood, burgers and even pizza. Also, they have a solid offering of local Maine draft and bottled/canned beer. read more

An expectedly long on a Friday evening. They have an online waitlist that is easy to use and I highly recommend. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant is decorated with a smattering of ocean-themed knick knacks and fun cartoons. I can't express how friendly the staff was. Our table ordered the salmon teriyaki, fish & chips, lobster roll, ahi tuna tacos, and clam chowder. The salmon came slightly burnt with what seemed like microwave rice. Remaining food was good, albeit underseasoned and lacking flavor. Great location though, near shops and a park. Again, great atmosphere and lovely staff, but the food missed its mark :/ read more

Came here for lunch on late Sunday afternoon Memorial Day weekend. We made reservations, but based on the crowd around 230 we would have been fine without one The menu had a fair number of intriguing options, but the one that stood out the most to me was the seafood pie. The description made it sound kind of like a shepherd's or pot pie but with seafood. Having never seen a dish like that before made it an easy choice for me The seafood pie ended up being a bit more like a seafood soup, as there wasn't really a pie base. The rich buttery broth was delicious and they do not hold back on how much seafood they give you. The seafood itself was nothing super noteworthy, but if you're looking for a variety this isn't a bad option. Most of our group thought the food was okay, but given the price point you'd expect a more memorable food experience. Our server was very nice and willing to accommodate separate checks for a large group. We had some issues with their QR code payment system, this held us up for about 15m as we tried to pay. Not a huge deal but would recommend sticking to card payment. The vibe of the restaurant is okay, it's a little packed in there seat wise and if it were busier I think we would've had a hard time hearing our conversation. We were seated by the window so we had a nice view, but the rest of the inside has a pretty dingy feel Overall our experience was okay, if you're walking by and need a place for a sizable meal I don't think you'll be disappointed. However I don't think it's noteworthy enough to go out of your way for on a trip read more

It was this or The Chart Room for our first dinner in Bar Harbor, and I am so glad we went with Geddy's. Granted, it was a bit tough to find parking (we got lucky), and at first, we accidentally walked into the gift shop, but the food was def worth it. If you come for dinner, it's also nice to be able to walk through the park to the water around sunset. When we were getting seated, one of the servers was showing a group of children a live lobster, which must have been an interesting learning experience for them. We were seated right in front of the lobster tanks, and it was a bit loud, but it quieted down once a big table next to us left. There's a lot of seating available indoors but I would recommend reservations. I ordered the Mini Lobster Bake and it was the perfect entree for me, because it lets you sample a bit of everything -- clam chowder, lobster roll, and blueberry tart. The food was amazing. We also had oysters and they were pretty big and fresh! I really liked the slice of blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream that we ordered for the table--the pie was so nice and warm and absolutely delicious. One entree I wouldn't recommend is the Shrimp & Scallop Scampi. Waaaay too much butter. It'll just make you feel gross after eating it. read more

This was mostly excellent food on a cold and windy day in Bar Harbor. My wife and MIL had an (eventually) excellent Lobster Bisque while I got a Fish & Chips and Clam Chowder. The loss of a star was only due to the chowder and both bisques being sent back because they were cold when we first got them. Once heated, they were excellent. Great stop for lunch while walking through the area. Love the interior decor. Really cool vibe. Staff was friendly and attentive. Great food & drink menu selections. I sat at the bar and ordered up some clam chowdah (how it's pronounced) as well as a lobster cobb salad, which I don't think I've seen on a menu ever before. Clam chowder was just OK, nothing spectacular and not terrible. Just average. The lobster cobb salad was good. Decent amount of lobster meat which is what brought this to the highest price I've ever paid for a salad. I would say worth it though. Would definitely recommend this place. Always amazing! Great food and service! Love the ambiance. Even love the little store.

Ehhh so we came to this place for our last night in bar harbor and tbh the ratings are much better than the food. Not sure why it has such good ratings. We ordered calamari, oysters, shrimp scampi, ahi tuna tacos, and fish n chips. 1. Calamari... good but the portion size is whack. They add an Asian salad underneath to make the plate look bigger 2. Seafood pasta... only thing that was super tasty were the scallops. Need some salt and seasoning 3. Fish n chips... dad ordered this and said overall it was a 8/10 4. Ahi tuna tacos hubby ordered this and said he couldn't even taste the tuna (they also gave his order to another table and he had to wait for his food longer) 5. Salted caramel cheesecake.. we really don't enjoy it it was way too see and too much caramel needed more of a balance with the cheesecake Overall... don't believe the hype. Oh, also our waiter ghosted us for 15 min and although she came back and apologized we still didn't have a great experience. read more

Visited Acadia in November, and wanted to eat lobster in Bar Harbor. Decided on Geddy's as this was one of the few restaurants still open at this time of the year. We got the Lobster Bake set with clam chowder, corn, and blueberry pie slice for $50. The clam chowder came out lukewarm, and the lobster was good but nothing special. Unfortunately Geddy's has taken a real nose dive. It was always a one trick pony but that trick was a perfectly cooked classic Maine Lobster. No more, had the most overcooked lobster not to mention the other food we ordered which was inedible. We got a bloody and it was barely drinkable. Place has gone full on tourist cash grab. It used to at least try to offer drinks and Lobster. I think this will be our last visit, there are too many other places in Maine that nail it every time. I guess if you like Burgers (at a seafood restaurant), beers, kitsch and trashy modern country music at full volume then this is the spot for you. Those with taste buds not welcome. read more

I hate to say this but this place is so as good as I expected to be as I have heard so much about it. I guess it is too tourist?? Everything was very small portioned for the price we paid. Bot the calamari and the salmon dish we have was packed with sautéed vegetables to make the look bigger than what it really is. The lobster platter wasn't fulfilling for one person. The lobster had no meat and I didn't care for the chowder that have mostly potatoes. The corn was sweet though. That's all that is to say about it. The mussel was so little and only a very small portioned. The fish and chips as ok. Overall everything was OK not good. For the price we pay, it is overpriced. Will not recommend for anyone. Bar Harbor has scads of dining options. Last August, we chose Geddy's in part because we were promised a seat "with a view" when making a reservation, and we figured "It's Maine, the seafood has to be good." Well, the view turned out to be of the men's bathroom door and the food wasn't much better. My toddler had the men's room to his right and wasted tourists a few feet behind him at the bar. (One actually fell off her stool onto the floor) This was not a family friendly place to sit. We were told it was the only option. He was probably happiest with his meal--chicken fingers and fries. That's toddler heaven. On a hunch, I skipped seafood and ordered a burger. It was the best thing we got-quality beef on a tasty bun. I also had a forgettable, watery cup of chowder. Grama's excitement for Cap'n Geddy's Lobster Bake was tangible--until she had a few bites. Her disappointment was tangible after that, and she pushed it away. That $45 dish was her initial reason for picking Geddy's. She asked if we could get ice cream after dinner. My son gave her a chicken tender so she'd not leave hungry. Both the hostess and waitress were a little surly, no doubt from dealing with tourists all summer. We didn't feel particularly welcome at any time during our visit.. One area where Cap'n Geddy nails it: Beer list. They had brews from some of the better Maine breweries as well as touristy stuff. My IPA was one of the better ones on a trip that included visits to Bissell Bros and Maine Beer Co. In summary: We were very disappointed with Geddy's and will not return. Being around since 1974 means nothing when the 2021 experience is this lackluster. It garnered a distant last place in our 2021 Bar Harbor dining rankings read more

I would rate this restaurant a three, primarily due to two aspects. First, our experience with the waiter was somewhat lacking. My brother-in-law had ordered the Lobster Roll, and we all heard him, but when the waiter brought out the dish, it was entirely different. After we explained that we ALL heard him say Lobster roll, he left and returned with the SAME DISH suggesting, "Are you sure you didn't change your mind?" It felt like he was insistent on serving that particular dish. Secondly, the food, while decent, didn't come in generous portions, which was surprising considering the prices they charged. If you don't mind paying a bit more for decent food and service that's not exceptional but not terrible either, then this might be the right place for you. Wishing you better luck with your waiter than we had! read more
