    Lobster Benedict
    Andy Y.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was in Bar Harbor, and 2 Cats is an outstanding breakfast option. The lobster Benedict and the blueberry pancakes were outstanding, and the orange juice was so fresh, it was like I was drinking the juice straight from the orange. Thanks again to the cooking and weight stuff for such an extraordinary breakfast before hiking Acadia national Park.

Came here for breakfast. It was our first breakfast place. It has no cats for people who are wondering. Apparently they used to have cats but not anymore. I wish they would have some. Service was decent but not amazing. Place is very tiny and tables are crammed together. It was uncomfortable to seat because of how small space there is. We all ordered different coffee and all of them were below average. Food wasn't great either. Salmon Benedict was very average. We never came back there because no one in our group liked the food or coffee.

We were really excited to try this place as it has good reviews on Yelp and is super cute, but were ultimately a bit disappointed. Service and Staff: - The staff was nice and they are accommodating with us initially sitting outside and then switching to inside Food and Drinks: - Chai latte: this was good - the cinnamon on top was a nice touch - Traditional Benedict: my friend asked for sausage instead of bacon on her Benedict. She wasn't clear what kind of sausage, but we wish the server said what kind of sausage they had. My friend was expecting a sausage patty, not sausages cut in half - Special Benedict: this was pretty disappointing. There was very little salmon, the egg was overcooked, and the biscuit was very dry. We asked for new eggs that were poached (as eggs should be with Benedict). I received new eggs in a bowl without any of the seasoning. It would have been okay if there was enough hollandaise sauce to add to these, but the sauce was also very limited - Blueberry Pancakes: these were good and filling Miscellaneous: - Street parking available - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Two gender neutral bathrooms

To start, as a cat lady myself I love the atmosphere here. All the cat decor and the paw print tables, plus everything being so colorful makes it wonderful to sit here. The juice is fresh and comes in a chilled glass. Perfect fluffy pancakes and I got the freshest banana I have ever had on the side. Peak ripeness. The French toast was made with a baguette which was interesting but it was very good! Typical French toast taste and soft. The corned beef hash was one of the best ones my friend has ever had, and she got poached eggs which were done perfectly with the tight whites and runny center. She described the meal as "Devine".

We were seated very quickly at 7:30am (less than 5 minute wait) and had quick service. Most menu items came with an order of spicy home fries and a biscuit with strawberry butter which were delicious. :) We tried the corned beef hash and summer scramble with a blueberry pancake to share. Both entrees were around $15 each and the pancake was $5.50.

Corned beef hash was the best I've ever eaten. Hands down. Don't miss this place! Pricey, but worth every penny. Quaint location, in downtown Bar Harbor, but on the outskirts of it. Easy to get to, with plentiful (pay) parking around it. The four of us agree that of our 12 days on the road thus far, this was the best meal we've eaten. No one in our party was even mildly disappointed. Service was fine, very polite and friendly.

Loved the atmosphere and food. Get the smoked salmon eggs Benedict! Nice place, friendly service, great food. Hopefully we can enjoy the outside dining area next time.

I'd heard so many wonderful things about this place, but I felt like it was just okay. It certainly fueled me up for a full day of hiking but I felt it was incredibly average. The cafe mocha was way too sweet. I got the ho hum as my breakfast and it was nice and filling. The eggs were fine, the potatoes were a bit too raw for me, and I wasn't a big fan of the biggest and strawberry butter which was what I was most excited about. I felt like the biscuit was super dry and the strawberry butter seemed to be just regular butter. It is a super cute place though. I love their logo and the cats on all their mugs!

    Jess L.

I love that the food is local and seems fresh. We got the farmers scramble and the summer scramble. The spicy sausage was good and the eggs were yummy. The potatoes didn't taste like they had spice on them. The strawberry butter was good, I think it's whipped. But the biscuit was dry and definitely needed the butter.

Get the lobster eggs Benedict breakfast with spicy potato's and try their homemade hot sauce. The Inn and restaurant has some beautiful flowers as you walk onto the property. Lots of cool cat signs obviously. One of the best places to eat your breakfast in Bar Harbor,Maine in my opinion. Paid street parking arrive early or no spaces to park around here.

This place had great reviews and lived up to them. Service was quick and food was delicious. Exactly what we were looking for in a last minute breakfast run before our hike to Thunder Hole

I've stumbled onto 2 Cats 12 years ago and thought to myself "Wow! Such great food and fun atmosphere. I was hoping to experience the same thing today. First, positive. The decor is fun, whimsical, and just eye catching. It really feels like you're sitting in a fairytale storybook. The menu has a lot of options, and you don't have to be a lobster lover to enjoy what they have to offer. The bad. We had to get up to speak to the waitress when everyone else who came after us got their food. Not once did she come to check on us. After I confronted her, two of the three dishes miraculously came five seconds later. We checked the food and it was cool to the touch which is very disappointing. This means the food had been sitting at the counter for quite some time. Then she came over to see if the food came with a very sarcastic smile. We asked her about the last dish and she says with a very snarky tone " the food will come out when the food comes out". The last dish did come out and it was hot which proves that they forgot about the last dish and that our other two dishes were just sitting there, waiting. After we got our food, we never saw her again. She never came to ask if you wanted to refill our hot water or coffee. But when we finished our breakfast, she magically popped up with a credit card machine. She automatically included 18% gratuity, which is bonkers. Honestly, I would not have tipped her for the poor service we experienced. And she had the gall to point to another part of the credit card screen, saying "in case you want to tip more". The audacity. The salmon eggs benedict and the lobster benedict was mediocre at best. It might've been better if we received our food hot or if we weren't in such annoyance with the horrendous service. When I revisit Bar Harbor, two cats will no longer be on my top tier to visit. I hope the owners read this because who knows how many of these incidents slipped through the crack.

My friend had come here a few years ago and was very excited to return! We came in on a Saturday morning and it was not very busy at all. We were able to be seated out on the patio right away! If you're averse to birds I recommend sitting inside as there are lots flying around all the flowers and tables. I ordered the farmer's breakfast and a side pancake for a little bit of everything! The scrambled eggs were nicely cooked and the sausage was very andouille-like with a bit of kick. The homefries were delicious as well! The biscuit was so good too - the strawberry butter was so unique! The pancake was nicely cooked and had lots of small wild blueberries in it. I recommend sharing as it's a decent size pancake for a side! It looks like they employ a lot of international workers which was super cool. There's a board by the host station with all the countries the staff is from!

Is the full menu for breakfast still available during COVID-19? (Asking because someone mentioned only certain limited items were available, but nobody else mentioned anything about that)

No- they have gone full takeout, with a different menu. They serve breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and fresh donuts.

Every fish is paired with meat. In a lobster town. Truffle aioli on a lobster roll are we in 1987? The apps arrived and the nausea followed immediately. My wedge salad had sweet blue cheese dressing I didn't know that was possible, but here we are -- with a random glob of whole grain mustard on top. For what reason? No one knows. My daughter ordered the pork belly and scallops. The scallops arrived the color of miniature marshmallows not a single sear on them, just pale, flaccid little jellies sliding around the plate. My husband ordered the garlic shrimp which inexplicably contained olives, capers, rock-hard chorizo, and a salty broth. The bread course: three pieces of sourdough for $12. One of the butters was sweet. My sister's salmon arrived on two separate piles of colored gloop one green, one reddish pink decorated with little ornamental dots in a plating style that I haven't seen for 20 years. Something on the plate was allegedly broccoli slaw. It was large, cold, oxidized florets with brown edges that no one touched. My husband's filet came with beet mashed potatoes that were ice cold and inedible, and a steak so chewy it couldn't be cut and was raw in the middle. My daughter's seafood pasta arrived in what I can only describe as a glop of beige glue with fish suspended inside it. It looked like oatmeal that had absorbed the ocean. She was given a cracker and a fork, which I assume was meant to be ironic. I canceled my entrée after the apps. When we asked our server where the halibut was from, he said "I think it's fresh." When we asked about the salmon, he said "I think the Atlantic Ocean, but I'm not sure." That was the end of that conversation. We are well-traveled. We live in New York City. I am a chef and my sisters husband is a chef. We have eaten all over the world. This was the single worst meal any of us has ever had in our collective lives. Every dish had no fewer than 47 ingredients, none which complimented each other. The owner seemed genuinely shocked when we explained what had happened, which was perhaps the most alarming part. He refunded us, and we appreciated that. But the refund did not cover my daughter spending the night sick. Hire a new chef. Write a new menu. Edit ruthlessly. Less is more. A lobster in Bar Harbor does not need truffle aioli!!It needs butter maybe some lemon? We were absolutely shocked this place has good reviews.
