Mount Dessert Bakery - Maple latte - Bakeries Near Me - Bar Harbor, Maine

We were surprised to find how bleh most of the baked goods were. Despite going on a Friday morning before 9am, we were surprised at the the hardness of the scones (both blueberry and scallion). The scallion at least was buttery inside, the blueberry scone was so dry and overcooked. The blueberry bread was also surprisingly tasteless and almost wet inside. Definitely Not what we expected from a professional bakery. Coffee meh but matcha reasonable. Egg sandwich was the family favorite and the savior of the bad breakfast. read more

This place is outstanding! I love the food! The ambiance is fantastic I would definitely fire Sarah though. Terrible worker. I will return if she is no longer working there. read more

Cold brew coffee was great. Breakfast sandwich was good (bacon egg and cheese on a croissant) but they toast the croissant, which I might not do next time. Pastries (scones and quick breads) are decent but not exceptional, though good enough that I'd go back and try others. Service fair, ambiance is that of a small coffee takeout coffee shop. read more

FANTASTIC! FANTASTIC! FAAAANTASTIC! little bakery in Bar Harbor! While I was on holiday in Maine I stopped in wherever to get my usual...I plain bagel, with butter..and a bottle of orange juice. Some places were good, some...not so much. I mean, how can a plain bagel with butter...be bad? Well, very easily lol. Went to a place in New Hampshire and it was the worst bagel I had ever had. So when I was in Bar Harbor, I had gone to a few places every morning and none of them were as great as this place. It's super close to downtown and all the tourist shops. So I just figured....expensive. Not at all. The bagel was fantastic! they toasted it just right and didn't drown it in butter like so many other places had on that trip. AND! the bagel was just so damn tasty. I like me some bagels lol The staff was so friendly. Just a happy place. The restaurant/bakery itself is so homey. It's very small...so if you wanna get there in the morning like so many do...go as early as you can if you wanna sit down. It's very comfortable in there. It's like a cute little cottage and you just kind of expect to see your adorable little grandma come out with the most amazing breakfast ever with her acting all sweet and grandma-like lol. I only wish I had discovered this place the first day we had gotten there. I would have been a regular for sure. What a pleasant little spot. Seriously, I just loved it and highly recommend anyone and everyone go here for their breakfast. They also have lots of like cookies and shit. I was so proud of myself...I held back and didn't get any even though I could have easily bought one of everything lol. So if you are in the Bar Harbor area and want a nice little spot to go for breakfast...and you see this review...go here! You will love it! If you hate it...you know where to find me....on Yelp lol. I guarantee you will love it tho. If you don't...Ill buy you a cookie to make you happy because obviously you're miserable if you find something wrong with this adorable little bakery :) Thanks so much for reading, Yelpers! Cheers! read more

Came here for a quick breakfast. We both had a bagel but with different cream cheese. I had bagel with turkey and herb cream cheese. Cream cheese was very bad, I had to scrape it off my bagel. My husband had to do the same. Bagels seem to be pre made and not baked in the bakery. It's weird to call yourself a bakery and not make bagels in the house. I got pumpkin spice coffee which was ok. Place is pretty cute inside. Has some nice tables and pleasant atmosphere. Service is decent, they basically bring food for you and it is pretty much it. read more

This was our last food stop before heading down to Portland and it was exactly what we needed. We got up early to see the sunrise and needed the energy boost. It's cute inside with a good amount of seating. They were well-stocked on the baked goods and the menu had a lot of breakfast/lunch options. I ordered an iced Cafe de Semih (maple blueberry latte) and a Baxter BLT bagel. The iced latte was good, the blueberry flavor wasn't strong but it was just sweet enough for me. It was a bit heavy on the milk, but I think that's a personal preference thing. The bagel was also solid; it had a lot of filling and was toasted. I didn't get to eat until later and it held up well for the long drive. read more

We loved everything we ate here. We got breakfast sandwiches, lavender matcha (amazing), and blueberry pie (my favorite specimen I tried in Bar Harbor). We wanted to order sandwiches to go but they don't offer lunch until 11, so we got bagel blts to go. Cozy little spot and great food! read more

Before we left New York for Maine, we put a list together of all the places that we wanted to try whoopies pies from. My family has been making whoopie pies for decades and every time I go to Maine, we try to find pies that remind us of the ones that we make! We enjoyed our whoopie pie from mt Dessert. We liked that this place was off the beaten path and away from some of the chaos of Bar Harbor. read more

This was my last stop before leaving Bar Harbor and it was a delicious note to end on. I got a blueberry latte with almond milk and it was a bit too milk forward in my opinion and I wish the blueberry flavor was a little more prominent. I also just got a plain bagel with egg and sausage since I wasn't super hungry and it really hit the spot. It's what you'd want in a bagel sandwich, so nothing much to say there. I also got a blueberry scone for the road and that was delicious as well albeit a little lacking in the blueberry flavor in my opinion. If you're looking to try a little breakfast or bakery then I'd highly recommend stopping in here! read more

Definitely gone down hill since new ownership. Also- Used to be great for locals year round- now closed most of the winter. In response- I know when ownership changed- I didn't say it's gone downhill recently. Your response was super aggressive. Sorry for your loss. read more

Love the pun on the name so close to our B&B so I had to stop in. So glad I did. I had a hot latte with whole milk and it was creamy and delicious. The barista was testing out latte art, not quite there yet but I love the attempt. Love that the staff was singing along to the music in the cafe. The place is cute and cozy. This might not be as popular as some cafes in town but wow it's great. The staff was super nice, the coffee was great, and the pastries were tasty. They had lots of stickers and other little things to purchase as well. The latte was great. The ham and cheese croissant was heavy on the ham and so tasty. The pumpkin muffin donut was super tasty. The sticky bun wasn't to my liking but I think that's more about me than them. The chocolate chip cookie was tasty too. I'd get a latte, ham and cheese croissant, and pumpkin muffin donut if I went back. Definitely check it out! read more

Great place in Bar Harbor. We got drinks and a sandwich and it was all very good. Staff was friendly and the place was super cute.

Got take out breakfast first morning in Bar Harbor. Got 2 egg and cheese on bagels and a Charlie on a bagel. All were great! We also got an order of pumpkin donut muffins. Omg! Excellent! And we got salted caramel coffee which was very good! Only downfall is they are closed on sundays apparently so we will hit them again on Monday before we leave! read more

We checked this place out on a recommendation from our dinner waiter, and it was a great find. Tucked just outside of town near the grocery store, it's super easy to get to whether you're walking or driving. The space is cozy with a laid-back vibe, and the menu has something for everyone--even those with dietary restrictions. The staff was sweet and helpful. Would definitely stop by again! read more

Super amazing cold brew here. The blueberry scones and blueberry pastries are 6 stars out of 5 (yes, that kind of good). They are not just sugary sweet but has all the wonderful taste of blueberry and butter. Perfect texture makes every bite a delightful experience. If you have the privilege to have their Mother Stuffin' Turkey sandwich, DO IT. Seriously. My god. It holds the perfect ratio of Turkey, real cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Their coffee cake is also superior. My bf and I came back three times while we visited Acadia. Needless to say, I've recommended this bakery to countless people and am shocked I haven't already posted this review. read more

Great pastries and interesting drinks! Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Super friendly and efficient. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Pretty small ordering area that can get cramped, but all the goodies are on display! **Price & portion, 5/5** Pretty reasonable prices -- great for trying multiple items and picking up a quick brekkie or lunch. **Taste of the food, 4/5** - Pumpkin chocolate loaf, 5/5: Great pumpkin flavor, not too sweet, and moist! Fantastic. - Chocolate scone, 2/5: Not a fan of this one. Super dry and dense with very little flavor -- the only saving grace was that it was packed with chocolate chips. - Lemon poppy bundt cake slice, 5/5: Moist, flavorful, and didn't taste at all like artificial lemon. Lovely breakfast! - Iced mocha, 3/5: Tasted a bit watered down for me. - Butterbeer latte, --/5: I personally don't like Butterbeer so not factoring this into my review. But the toffee/butterscotch flavor REALLY comes thru. **Other notes** A few tables outside that seat 2 people each. read more

Loved the vibes of this place. Quiet morning in downtown Bar Harbor at 7 am on a Saturday. As it was my last stop before leaving the island to head back home, I opted for the blueberry pastries. The blueberry cheese danish and blueberry scone did not disappoint. At the recommendation of the baristas, I tried the maple latte as well. All good things plus polite and friendly staff. Was leaving Bar harbor to go back home, so stopped by to get coffee and some bakery items to bring back home. Picked up a whole blueberry pie - kinda pricy, but it was delicious and was consumed promptly by the family back home. Not too sweet and the crust was not too dry and so buttery.. Also picked up sticky bun.. that just came out of the oven. It had so much butter dripping, it was soaking through the paperbag. Maybe I should have waited a bit longer for it to cool, but it was ok. Had coffee - just the drip coffee, self served. It was ok. Not too great or bad. Also picked up a day old pastry bag - raspberry pastry and some kind of bar, both were great and was very cheap. $2 for a bag that contained both. I didn't stay, but the inside looked very inviting, and nice. If I were staying, it would have been nice place to hang out. very busy even though I went right as it opened. read more

We ordered a cake for a birthday while traveling and it was fabulous. Moist (), tasty (red velvet with cream cheese frosting) and they added some flair sprinkles. Felt festive. The highlight for me though, secretly, was a little blueberry hand pie we bought to take care of trying the requisite Maine blueberry dessert (they are everywhere and in all forms). Thiswas a flavor delight and adorable. I wish we bought more! read more

Took a personal day and decided to walk the Old Port. Saw their sign and decided to check it out. They expanded from their Bar Harbor location. They offer personal savory and sweet pies and full size as well. Reasonably priced. Variety of coffee selections as well. Then there is the cinnamon roll. Not too big, so perfect to walk around and enjoy. Let me tell you I could easily go back for more. That was one of the best mini cinnamon rolls ever. Holy crap! Incredible balance is raisins and cinnamon and frosting. Wow. Worth a visit for a nice snack and the staff is friendly and just great people. They just opened up a month ago so support your local business and stop by for a coffee and pie. I will be near by stuffing my face. Yum. read more

For my birthday here in Maine, there weren't too many options for me to get cake (sorry but I didn't want to go to Walmart, feel me?). I called 5 days ahead and asked for a 6-inch cake. Then I specified that I wanted a strawberry shortcake. Then asked if there could be chocolate dipped strawberries on top? And a chocolate drip? I'll be honest that when I first saw this cake, I was a bit shocked. The strawberry shortcakes I've had in the past from bakeries were slathered in cream, so I didn't expect a naked cake (which I now know is how strawberry shortcake is supposed to be). Instead of the chocolate drip I envisioned, I got chocolate drizzle with some on the sides of the cake and dolly. But...I will cut Mount Dessert Bakery some slack, because I don't think they often do custom cakes. I really liked the taste of this cake, though my friends found it a bit dense for their taste, and it. was. only. $30! Look how tall this cake is! That being said, I would return here, and maybe if I wanted to do a custom cake next time, I'd email them a photo perhaps. read more

Excellent service. Great coffee. Blueberry pie ( very for breakfast- don't judge!) excellent. The crumb top crust was a nice touch!

This place has a delicious pastry and coffee selection! We came in here twice while in bar harbor. The first time, we just got coffee. But after seeing the pastry selection, we knew we had to return the following day to try some things! For coffee, I got the butter beer latte. It was a special that they had. They have a selection of dairy alternatives as well. I opted for almond milk. In our return trip for pastries, we got the pumpkin chocolate chip bread, strawberry rhubarb coffee cake and pumpkin coffee cake. They were all delicious! They bake them right in-house so everything is fresh! read more

Simply amazing. We popped in for breakfast before heading to Acadia National Park for the day and everything we had was delicious. The Farmhouse breakfast sandwich on a fresh bagel was unique and filling. We devoured a pecan sticky bun and took a blueberry scone for the road; the seasonal pumpkin spice latte was beautifully presented and probably the best I've ever had. It is located away from downtown and the tourist area. This small bakery had some serious bakes. My wife went early to pick up various breakfast bakes for our party of seven. At the register, she saw some one day old pastries discounted to $1 each, so she brought a dozen for hiking snacks. Everyone enjoyed the bakes and pastries. My wife said the prices were very reasonable for such good tasting and fresh bakes. Counter service was very friendly and efficient. read more

Tsk, how off putting that lady behind the cashier was. Her pink hair didn't go with her attitude. As we walked in, she was talking down to a co worker. I walked out and headed to Slice of Eden. But my sisters-in-law stayed to get any of their cakes, or cheesecake. The lady told them that all the cakes( none of them whole) and the only whole cheesecake were all sold. The cake, by the way, was already sliced off, yet it was already sold. Why were they still on display. Lemon bar was too sweet. Coffee was too weak. Maybe that was why she was too cross! If I owned a bakery/cafe, Mount Dessert Bakery is what I would want it to look like. It is perfectly decorated, with little knickknacks everywhere and an art lover's dream. It is very cozy, with colorful, cushioned seats and a bright interior. They also had many handmade crafts for sale; my sister and I bought some enamel pins in addition to our coffees! I ordered a Cortado with oat milk, my sister ordered a Cold Brew with Lavender Syrup, and my broth ordered the Oatmeal Cookie Chai Latte. The Cortado was strong and had lots of body, but tasted a little burnt. The Oatmeal Cookie Chai Latte was very strongly spiced, which I enjoyed, but if you don't like cinnamon and spices, this one isn't for you. The Lavender Syrup in the Cold Brew was a little too perfume-y and floral for my taste unfortunately. While it wasn't the best coffee I've ever had, it had great vibes and ambiance, and the barista was friendly (not to mention it's women owned)! read more

Love this bakery! This has been my go-to sandwich shop on my visit to Acadia! Loved the Maine Cuban sandwich and the Baxter BLT. Coffee drink and the iced tea was great too. I recently visited this bakery again and it is still delicious! What can I say? We are both breakfast and lunch at this cozy bakery. A really great breakfast bagel - everything bagel, fresh cooked egg and crispy bacon. About 200 times better than McDonald's.
