The food is average compared to the many food places downtown Long Beach has to offer but the ambiance was great! Definitely a cool spot on the beach to hang, eat, drink and chat with friends. I had my kids so I really loved the little play area that they had next to the restaurant. Although it was a little sketchy with a few homeless people around but overall I think its worth checking out. read more

We had a few recommendations to try this place. It may have been the wrong day, cold and raining outside and the bar opens up to the patio so it was very cold indoors. Clean, trendy place on the beach. Parking was easy and accessible. Service was a bit slow as their bartender was also our waiter, the bar had 8 patrons. Super friendly, polite and gave some good recommendations from the menu. We had the ceviché, nice serving for 2-4 and plenty of hot unsalted fresh corn chips, very tasty with a perfect spicy kick. Bartender recommended the strawberry margarita, tasty but it was a short glass with more ice than liquor or margarita mix, loved the presentation. Hubby ordered the lobster roll and salad, both of good quality and quantity with a pleasing flavor. I ordered the medium cooked flank steak sandwich, very good but wish the bread was toasted so it would be a really warm steak sandwich. Fries were thick, fresh and hot; not too salty; perfection. Service was amazing but slow, the restaurant was busy so the bartender was quite busy. If this place is connected with Gauchos, we would have loved to have had the lamb chorizo meatballs as an appetizer. Anyways, we'll be back! read more

Very disappointed with our experience. Our server brought four beers to the table when we had only ordered three. When we pointed it out, instead of acknowledging the mistake, she argued with us and insisted we ordered four. It was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. On top of that, there were additional items on our bill that we did not order at all. Rather than handling it professionally, she became extremely defensive and rude when we questioned it. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for nearly 20 years, I have never once challenged a guest for saying they didn't order something. You correct it and move forward. Arguing with guests over clear discrepancies is not acceptable. To make matters worse, when it was time to pay, she stood over my shoulder watching while I selected the tip. It felt pressuring and inappropriate. Service like that does not deserve a 20 percent gratuity, and hovering while a guest is entering payment only adds to the discomfort. In my own restaurant, I instruct my team to leave the tablet at the table after processing payment specifically so guests never feel obligated to over tip, especially if they had a subpar experience. We left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and like we overspent on both the tip and the overall meal. This was far from the level of professionalism we expected. read more

HORRIBLE service. Waitress couldn't get my order right... and it took what seemed like 30 minutes to get our food. My siblings and I ordered burgers. We each got our order 10 minutes apart from one another. before ordering.. I had inquired about the type of cheese they had and if they could substitute the burger bun to sourdough which is offered in one of their sandwiches... she said they could. Asked her what type of cheese they had, she said she would dbl check (how do you not know what cheese the restaurant offers) anywho... asked for the chimichurri lemon aioli... Once the burger gets delivered it had nothing I asked for. She failed to ask us how we wanted the meat cooked and she never came back to update me about the cheese before the burger arrived to me. When I let her know about the bread and cheese, she left and returned saying they only had cheddar and the cook could not change the bread cause it would change the style of the burger... what?!?! My brother had ordered a beer and that never got delivered, and my sister's burger meat was raw. What I'm assuming was the manager was no help. No apologies or any attempt to help make the experience better. My brothers burger and fries were bland. I finally just told her to cancel my sister and I's order since they were taking FOREVER to fix our meals. Definitely not returning back. Waste of time. read more

Found out Gaucho Beach has happy hour so I stayed for drinks. I ordered the white sangria, which was $9 during happy hour. The bartenders here are very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They make the drinks very good here and it pairs well with the beautiful view of the beach. I met some really nice people here while sitting at the bar. While I am not a fan of the food here, I definitely recommend the drinks and coming for happy hour during the week from 3-6pm. read more

Conclusion: I went to Gaucho Beach restaurant, Gaucho Cafe & Gaucho Empanadas. It's 3 restaurants basically sharing a split kitchen. Two are walk-up order and you can take the food to go. The sit down restaurant is self-seating where you basically have to flag down servers. They are all great for groups since you can order and settle your own tab. The food and drinks at all 3 are good. WARNING: The public paid parking lot can be an issue at all times of the day (about $4 to park). The lot is really for the public beach and with that, you get some of everything. Drugs, homeless etc. We were sitting in our car and someone in a white RAV4 backed into us in the middle of the afternoon and sped off. There are cameras so we had to contact the city to try to get video. Not sure if the guy that backed into us works at either of these restaurants or if he was just visiting. We contacted the restaurants right away and they told us to contact the city. I didn't see any security while we were there. Be warned! Service: 3/6: you have to pay for tip first and a differ person comes every-time. A guy came to clean a tabie we were waiting for but he only took the dishes, he didn't wipe at all. So we had to wait and flag someone else down. I'm not sure if they've changed this policy but I sure hope they do. read more

This is just for going to takeout window for coffee. Two people were in front of me on line and both ordered coffee & muffin though it took close to 15 minutes. I ordered a drip coffee which was only $5, yes, I'm being facetious as that's a bit pricey for a place like this, though it didn't take long to get the coffee I noticed when I walked up the block and took a sip. It was warm instead of hot. I returned to tell the girl at the window this and she appeared to be a deer caught in the headlights as she didn't know what to do so I asked if she could put more coffee in the cup and with that she made an Americano, which was quite different. She did offer to refund my money, but I was just looking for a hot cup of coffee. Thougj it was not a hot cup of coffee, I will say that the flavor was good. read more

So we order adult drinks along with our main lunch and honestly it took the waiter another 45 min until we got our dranks...at this point I already knew this waiter was gunna get stiffed... my daughter order the Caesar salad w/stake and was asked how she wanted it cooked and she toll him med. and he repeated what she said too, so mind you we were already frustrated cuz of how long everything took and when the food came out and of course her steak was overcooked and we agreed not to say nothing cuz of how long it took fir our food to get to us...So if u choose to try this place I recommend to go for dranks only..or sit at the bar!! My first time here was exceptional! Staff was welcoming as soon as I came in. A gorgeous view of the beach. Super clean and nice ambience. I ordered the chicken milanesa, it was delicious and well priced. It comes with a side of fried or Caesar salad. I went with the salad YUMM. Came here the morning of July 4th super hungover and to my pleasant surprise - had the best fish and chips of my life! I would come back here just for the fish and chips. Super juicy flaky crispy fish, and garlic tossed fries that were crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside. They look so ordinary but I swear these fish and chips slapped. We also had the guac and margarita flight and all were great! Servers are casual and genuine and service was really fast. All our food and drinks came out within short time. My son had to go get the drinks. After waiting a long time we asked to change the order to go. They did not. Food quality was awful. The empanadas we order wasn't available. They brought another and was still frozen. My son's lomo saltado was a pool on ketchup w some onions and a few pieces of meat. My meat was thought and no steak knife available. I have never had a good experience w gaucho restaurants. One in L A the arts district. Took more than 2 hrs. The other in Pasadena, not good quality food. Planning on taking friends there, because it was better before. Glad I went before. I will not invite them. read more
