Excellent - by far my favorite ice cream in the city. Everything is made with coconut milk, and is gluten free, so it's perfect for people who want sweet treats that are non-dairy and non-gluten. AND, their flavors are actually good. I find that often when one of those is substituted for, the other gets sacrificed or over-compensates and ends up not being very good. Although, naturally, without gluten some of the pastries are not as fluffy or buttery as they could be for the "regular" version. Most of their flavors are really good and you can get 2 samples before making a choice. There's some shaded outdoor seating, main seating, and a back indoor seating (somewhat echo-y), but it hasn't been super busy any time I've been there so there's enough space to not feel crowded.
What a gem to find a bakery that is gluten-free for my gluten intolerant friend :) It's also dairy-free since their ice cream is made with coconut milk. While it does make the texture less creamy than traditional milk, it didn't bother me. It's more frozen yogurt/custard? Like it was just a teeny bit grainy instead of smooth. I enjoyed it nonetheless. She ordered a coffee cake and I think the black magic flavor ice cream? I had the Thai tea and black sesame something flavors - I forgot the name :( I also ordered their hojicha matcha as well. I also wished I remembered the gentleman's name who helped us last week but he was super friendly and helpful! The inside was really cute too! It feels like airy/spacious boho with the furniture, large windows, and light fixtures in the seating area with these cute, muted mint green tiles for the wall behind the counters.
This review was meant to be for Gati Scoops on 4500 Duval. I added it as part of adding a new business. But somehow Yelp moved the review to the one on Holy. -------------------- We are so excited to have Gati here in Hyde Park. We are a big fan of the one on Holy but that's a bit out of the way for us. This one is much closer to us. For those who haven't hade Gati, all ice cream here is made with coconut milk. They have unique flavors. For example today I have tamarind candy. Pandan is another flavor I like. More common flavors: blueberry, Texas peach, mint chip. And many more!
At first glance on Yelp, it comes across as mostly as an ice cream parlor cafe but it's so much more! My friends invited me for brunch and it was my first time visiting here. It's a 100% Gluten-free menu so it was worry free to order for my friends who are intolerant. We tried 4 main menu items family style. They also clearly label if it's dairy free, vegan, vegetarian for everyone's dietary sensitivities/preference. There's seating in the main entrance, outdoor side patio and in a tucked away room down the restroom hallway, with more indoor seating. Great service and reasonable prices. Wish I had more for ice cream and pastries so that just gives me another reason to come back! Brunch spread items: Shrimp & grits: creamy and savory Maple peach pecan waffle: summer special the peaches were a perfect in season for summer Laksa: savory curry base with fish cake and shrimp - a Singaporean special Biscuits and mushroom gravy - my friends couldn't believe the fluffy biscuits were GF. Matcha latte - the coconut milk flavor really comes through Golden chai latte - love a turmeric latte. savory spice with a side of anti-inflammatory benefits
Chive pancakes, Memela (vegan), and ice cream The chive pancakes were crunchy. They tasted like burnt thick chips of seaweed almost. With the sauces of the memela they were great. The memela tasted. primary of beans. The sauces are what truly made it. Wouldn't order this again or call it delicious but it was savory. Ice cream was amazing! Never misses. The staff was super kind and friendly. Definitely great vibe in their outdoor patio.
Neo MADE the experience. Gati's ice cream and pastries are always top tier, literally best in Austin, but their customer service sometimes leaves you wanting. But not Neo. His energy and helpful attitude was phenomenal. We were very impressed with his knowledge of all the items available to purchase and his recommendations. My friend and I went in there with our kids (10 kids!) and he handled the chaos seamlessly. The way he represented Gati is definitely manager status. - The owner needs to hold onto him.
I don't often go here, but I love their ice cream and they have the best dairy-free options in town! I love their flavors and how everything g isn't too sweet. The price point is a little higher than usual but I can justify it by good quality ice cream and unique flavors. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, always offer to try different flavors too! There are a few spots to sit at, but in my experience it's never too busy (maybe because I always go in the evening when I do).
As the old adage goes, "Life's short...eat dessert first." Well, that is exactly what we did. My hubby and I have been doing the Daniel fast for a week. So we decided to have an ice cream treat made with coconut milk. Gati...for the save! Gati specializes in coconut milk-based ice cream with robust, globally inspired flavors. There is no dairy...fully a plant-based delight. All their ice creams are coconut milk-based. After a few samples, we decided on Mango Lime and Golden Milk. Both were delicious! We were milk-based ice cream neophytes. You might ask what is the difference between cow's milk and coconut milk ice cream. There was not a significant difference to me. The only notable difference is that coconut milk-based ice cream does not have an oily feel to its ice cream. It was nice treat. In fact, we will likely return even after our Daniel's fast. Gati is a small establishment with a small outdoor patio. Overall laid-back environment....
Gati is an absolute dream, especially if you're gluten-free or just love incredible food. Their gluten-free pastries are next level. You would never guess they're gluten-free everything is soft, flavorful, and perfectly textured. The cinnamon rolls in particular are unforgettable, warm, gooey, and just the right amount of sweet. Truly some of the best I've ever had. And the Thai dishes? An explosion of flavor. Every bite is vibrant, rich, and beautifully balanced. You can tell everything is made fresh with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. To top it all off, the staff is so friendly and kind. The whole space feels welcoming and full of good energy, which makes the experience even better.
Woah, I had a dining experience at Launderette and the waitress said to check this place out after. I walked half a mile over to this cute spot with a friend and we ended up spending over $80 and I ain't even mad about it. First of all, even if you're not an ice cream fan (like me), TRY THE ICE CREAMS. I sampled a few and every single one was to live for. I ended up getting the oatmeal cream pie with chocolate chips on top. I was amazed at how many pints they had available to-go. It took everything out of my to not take any home. The cookie monster was incredible and all thai ice creams were delicious. They also have ice cream sandwiches to-go or to eat in store. The highlight, weirdly, was the Aztec Mocha. Perfectly poured, I had it hot and it blew me away. It had the most delicious notes of cinnamon and other spices. The design was perfect, I wish I didn't devour it and took a photo! My friend took over 12 pastries home and they all looked delicious. I asked her how they were and she said they didn't disappoint. As both of us are lactose intolerant, we were beyond satisfied. And this place treats their staff well by paying them a fair wage. Tips are optional as gratuity is already included in every purchase. This staff works their butts off and deserves every penny. Gati is my new favorite and I have actually added it to my All-Time Favorites list. I cannot wait to share this place with everyone I know and to visit again and again. Absolutely worth the hype!

I came back recently to try their new food menu! Not only do they have delicious vegan ice cream (made from coconut milk), they also have breakfast and lunch, with some dishes that are of SE Asian origin. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn they actually expanded from Thai Fresh, one of my favorite Thai restaurants. I got the laksa noodles. After ordering, I was confused about the utensils because I could not find the forks, but they gave me chopsticks when they delivered the dish to me. Laksa was sooo good and had the perfect amount of spice for me. Staff is friendly and if you want to sample the ice cream, you may pick two. There is limited parking but coming for Saturday lunch, I was able to find a spot. It was the perfect weather to be seated outside but there are some flies. Also bought their Thai Basil ice cream to take home! Yum!
A cute ice cream/bakery/cafe tucked behind a convenience store. The place specializes in making goods gluten-free, vegan, and other food allergy/intolerances. And one can also get regular milk in their latte as well. Having a minor lactose intolerance, I was looking forward to the ice cream and tasted a few before settling on the cookie monster and blueberry. For some reason, the more I ate the blueberry, the more I felt something was off with the flavor. However, both being coconut based was a godsend. Also, had a great latte! I would definitely visit again, if not to try more flavors like the Thai tea or the pandan.

Gati is such a delightful surprise! I honestly didn't realize everything here was vegan until after I'd ordered, and it completely blew me away. They have amazingggg ice cream flavors that change frequently, but I feel like a few staple flavors might stick around longer or always be available--thankfully, because I'd be heartbroken if some of my favorites disappeared too quickly. I tried the Thai Basil flavor, which was incredibly unique with its slightly savory, herbaceous notes. It reminded me of a chilled green curry in the best way possible. The Thai Tea and Lavender Caramel were also incredible--rich, aromatic, and so flavorful. What I love most is how authentic and bold the flavors are; you can really taste the care that goes into making each one. Beyond the ice cream, I highly recommend trying their beet drink! It's refreshing and balanced. The shop itself is cozy and inviting, with both indoor seating and a lovely outdoor area lit by lanterns. It's a great spot to hang out, whether you're indulging in dessert or grabbing a pastry and drink. Parking is limited out front, but there's plenty of street parking nearby. Gati is now one of my favorite spots in Austin, and I can't wait to go back to explore more of their ever-changing flavors. Whether you're vegan or not, I have shown this place to many friends. read more

Great service very fast got a pint of ice cream, Cookie Monster blueberry, lemon, scone, double chocolate brownie. My friend got vanilla ice cream , I looked at the cookbook. Small parking lot so I parked at the gas station. I like the plastic silverware because it's compostable and the provide you with five degradable to go containers so it's a good friendly customer service. read more
I stopped here for dessert after dinner. It's all coconut based ice cream with asian inspired flavors!! The flavors are delicious. The texture is more refreshing/flakey than typical creamy ice cream. They only allow 2 free samples. I would so come back and try everything else on the menu! There's an affogato flight I need to get next time. read more
Wow!! This place is so cute and the flavors are unmatched! They have a place indoor to sit and a patio outside. They have their own parking lot that fits about 5 cars. The guys who helped us were very friendly and patient while we tried flavors. I enjoyed the cookie dough and chocolate. It was so creamy and rich! I forgot it was vegan and gluten-free until I overheard the employee telling someone else about it. I also tasted the lavender caramel and thai tea flavors and those were very unique and tasty! I will definitely be back! Hopefully to taste more seasonal flavors and even grab a pastry. read more

Love this spot for vegan ice cream! Located in the east side right by the gas station. There's a few parking spots at front and a few by the gas station. They have a few seats inside and outside. Gati itself smells great! Not only do they have vegan ice cream, but a variety of gluten free treats too! My favorite was snickerdoodle and black sesame. Highly recommend! read more

Came here on a Saturday evening around 7. Didn't take too long to order, but there was a decent sized crowd We went for a flight (sans coffee) and tried golden milk, pandan, Thai tea, and Thai basil. Overall we thought it was great! It was some of the most "real" tasting ice cream I've ever had. All the descriptors were very true to taste, you really notice whatever spices and ingredients are listed. Thai basil was surprisingly my favorite, if you enjoy those kinds of dishes at a Thai restaurant I definitely recommend giving it a try. The pandan was fairly light in flavor by comparison to the two Thai flavors, still quite tasty but it felt a little muted. The golden milk was good, but compared to the flavor explosions with the Thai basil and tea it was a little underwhelming Overall this spot was great and an absolute must try if you live in Austin, even if you have no dairy restriction read more

We love this place! The ice cream is incredible!! It's all vegan - made with coconut milk!! The pastries are usually gluten free and mostly vegan too! I tried the Thai Basil, Vietnamese coffee, and lavender caramel flavor (3 scoops for $11)! The Thai basil was really unique. It tasted slightly savory, almost like you ate your leftover green curry from the fridge without heating it up. I really liked the Asian inspired flavors, I think that's what makes this place so unique! The Vietnamese coffee flavor was strong. I also liked the lavender caramel flavor. It tasted less like lavender and more like ube! The store has a few tables inside and outdoor picnic table seating with pretty lantern lights. There are about 5 parking spots in front of the store. We parked across the street in front of a house. I think the price is pretty average for Austin ice cream. This store uses coconut milk to make their ice cream. You can tell they aren't as creamy as most dairy based ice creams, but the difference in texture is made up by the unique flavor options! I would definitely go back again. After I had sampled a few flavors, I realized they had a sign that said to please limit samples to 2 samples per person. I have never seen that kind of sign in an ice cream shop. read more
A vegan and gluten-free friendly nice cream shop located in a neighborhood with a small parking lot shared with a neighborhood grocers. They specialize in vegan ice creams in fairly uncommon flavors that are coconut milk based. They also sell a variety of baked goods and sweets that are gluten free but not all of them are egg free. Some are only dairy-free. The good news is everything is labeled and the staff are super helpful. I'm usually not terribly fond of coconut milk based ice cream because you can taste the coconut... but we mainly chose flavors that worked with coconut. We found this place because my youngest is allergic to gluten and eggs among other things. Some flavors do include nuts, which he's also allergic to, but a vast majority of them do not. We got: Chocolate - in a small cup for the kid with the food allergies. He ate half! I think that means he approved (he's particular sometimes). I didn't finish this but Hubby says it's "not bad." Cookie Monster - small cup for my picky daughter with no food allergies. They make their own gluten free cookie bits that go in here plus blue spirulina for the color. She also ate half of this. I finished this and it was pretty good! You can taste the coconut in the ice cream base but I really enjoyed the textural differences with the cookie bits. Spirulina tastes like nothing but I love the natural color it gives! Lavender Caramel and Thai Basil - half scoops in a small cup for the adults. The flavors really come out! I loved them both. Overall, a good experience and we'll definitely return. It's nice to have a place where my youngest can eat and not feel left out or like he's missing something. We went on a day where it was below freezing so no one else was there while we were (one person did come in for some hot chocolate), haha. But I do believe eating ice cream is great for that weather - it makes the outside feel less cold so it's not a huge difference - leftover from my year living abroad in a place that experiences all 4 seasons. Compostable bowls, to go containers, and spoons are a plus! I got a vegan oatmeal Creme sandwich to bring back for my vegan sister. I didn't taste it but it looked good. came to gati after dinner & tried thai basil and ceylon cinnamon chip ice cream. both were unique and definitely different from your typical ice cream - you can really taste the coconut milk, which gives it a creamy base that stands out. i'd definitely come back to try other flavors since it's so different from anywhere else. the shop is cute with both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's some parking right in front, which is convenient. definitely worth checking out! read more

Don't know how I've never heard of this place! They offer your typical flavors plus a lot of flavors you likely won't find at many other places in Austin. I got the pandan and caramel lavender flavors, which actually paired pretty well and neither were overly sweet. The service was quick and friendly, and they had some outdoor seating to the side of the shop that's lit cutely at night. Would absolutely recommend trying this place out for some interesting, and delicious, options! read more
In the spirit of Thanksgiving I'm so grateful to this place! As someone who limits lactose it felt like discovering a treasure chest when my partner introduced me to Gati! There are so many amazing flavors, some seasonal! This time around my bf and I each got the pumpkin ice cream and it was yummy! The place is also super cute and instagramable inside and out. Overall: I love Gati! It is a great option for us sensitive eaters. They highlight their dairy-free ice cream but my favorite part is the many gluten-free options they serve. As someone who has a huge sweet tooth but a gluten sensitivity, Gati is one of my go-to's. And, it's such a cute little cafe. I get all the chill cafe vibes here. What I Get: - S'mores bar is a 10/10. It is chewy, crumbly, sticky goodness. Ask for it warmed up if you want a real treat! - Chai tea latte: their chai tea latte isn't my favorite but it is good! read more
I visited this cute little ice cream shop and got the Thai tea ice cream. The ice cream was pretty good, but the texture was not as creamy as I would've liked it to be, and the coconut flavor was very potent. I've had coconut-based ice cream's before, and the flavor usually wasn't as strong. But overall the interior is very clean and aesthetic. I would probably come back and try some other flavors. read more
Gati means coconut milk in Thai :) I looove this ice cream spot, it's definitely worth a try! The coconut milk ice cream comes in fun flavors that are hard to find in other shops like Thai basil, Thai tea and pandan, in addition to great basic flavors like lavender caramel, cookie dough, Texas blueberry. Ingredients are natural & simple which I love, and on top of that the taste & texture is simply phenomenal. My favorite flavor was the Thai basil -- but I have yet to try em all! Their affogato flight seems like a fun experience as well. I will be back! read more
The asoortment of vegan, gluten free ice creams and pastries is awesome here! Very delicious. My favorite is pandan ice cream. They also have a delicious icecream cake slice too. They have plenty of seating too, it's a dog friendly place and the I like their interior decor. Talked to the chef last time, she was super nice! Gati is a great place for vegan ice cream and gluten free desserts. They have ~40 rotating ice cream flavors, and they're all made with a coconut milk base. I tried their mint chip ice cream. The texture is not the same as regular ice cream; it was definitely less creamy, as expected. If you don't have dietary restrictions, you'll be able to find better ice cream elsewhere, but I'll definitely be taking my vegan friends here. read more
Gati is a nice place for a hot Saturday afternoon! There's some seating indoors and outdoors where you can hang out with a group of friends. They let you get some samples and give generously for their single scoop, which can be split into two flavors! I got the pandan, which was pretty fresh and creamy! I'm not sure if I'd get it again, because I like it better in waffle format. My other half was the 3rd eye elixer which reminded me of a cinnamon chocolate, but I was not a fan of the subtle turmeric flavor. Perhaps I should stick with classic chocolate haha. I tried my friend's Texas Strawberry and that tasted like really creamy strawberry. Pretty much all the ice cream is made with coconut milk. Haven't tried the pastries or drinks. The service was nice! We were a big group and they were very patient with us. Would come again to try other flavors! read more

Came here with my sister and we absolutely loved it!!! All of their ice cream is vegan and they have some really unique flavors and some classic ones. We got the coffee, cookies and crème, and lavender ones. Our server was so helpful and let us take our time deciding esp since it was our first time there!! It is so cute and will definitely be coming back!! read more
Gluten-Free, Vegan.. best of all, Coconut milk based ice cream.. perfect for lactose intolerant individuals! -A slightly less creamy texture but that doesn't detract from the experience at all. Plus, its minimal ingredients allow for the perfect amount of sweetness (I like my things less sweet) -Thai Tea + Pandan was the perfect combo to mix together in my split single. My husband and I stopped in for ice cream. Two tastings are free so I tried the lavender caramel and Thai basil. I ended up getting the Thai basil and golden milk. My husband tried the Thai coffee and Thai tea and ended up with the Thai coffee and lavender caramel. The flavors were unique and overwhelming. The Thai coffee taste exactly like I remember when we were in Thailand. The prices here were a little steep in my opinion. We got two scoops and the oatmeal cream pie for around $30. The oatmeal cream looked yummy but honestly was just okay. I love that the majority of items are both dairy and gluten free with signage. It's helpful when making purchases. You can also buy pints to go. There is a small area for seating both indoor and outdoors. read more

Lactose free ice cream made with coconut milk base. Many unique flavors that I have not seen at other ice cream shops. They also sell coffee and pastries that are also gluten-free and some dairy free. It is a little pricy as 2 scoops in a cup came out to $10. I ended up choosing the strawberry and the monster cookie flavors. Everything I tasted was delicious. Can't wait to try more read more
