    Breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage
    Sarah H.

What an absolute amazing place! First of all, the service is tremendously friendly. As soon as you enter the building you feel the welcome. Now to mention the food....absolutely to die for! I had the breakfast sandwich and added turkey sausage and WOW was that the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. To top it off, I had the wild rice toast with an order of wojapi spread which was my favorite part. My expectations were immensely exceeded when I dined here. I highly recommend The Gathering Cafe!!

Lovely new space. I had bison melt with blueberry horseradish aoli and tea seltzer. Very tasty, fast service, totally will be back.

It's been a joy to have this cafe available. Chef Austin Bartold and staff focus on healthy, traditional indigenous foods, and the colors and flavors are awesome. Just the bright color of their kale in salads and omelette makes me want to eat more. Today I had my favorite, the bison melt sandwich -- shredded bison with blueberry horseradish sauce on made-from-scratch wild rice wheat bread. Eye opening. Gave my friend a taste -- she's going to bring her husband back to give it a try. She's never had anything like it. Sit near indigenous paintings while you enjoy healthing, creative food selections. Simple setting, food you won't find elsewhere.

This location is nice inside: tonssss of seating, and I recommend sitting in back for calmer vibes without the hustle of the ordering line! The bench cushion fabric was very dirty and worn on all the seating - definitely didn't match the rest of the space. Parking is a little tricky around here - I recommend one of the free parking ramps. Their menu is pretty simple with a handful of salad and bowl options. I like that! Not too overwhelming. My brother and I both got the chicken bacon ranch salad. You can do substitutions but we stuck with everything. Service was quick and friendly! ~$30 for two salads and two drinks. And the drinks were delish! They had a handful of fresh made teas and lemon waters and we loved them. Salads were delicious; well dressed, and the right portion so you don't have extra leftover. I could use more protein/meat in it. Thanks for a quick and healthy meal!

I decided to give Crisp & Green a try. When I walked in it had a very fresh and clean look. Everyone there was so nice and cheerful and I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with choices. I ended up choosing the Get Your Greek On Grain Bowl (brown rice, spinach, warm chickpeas, kalamata olives, feta, fajita peppers & onions, cucumber, & lemon-herb vinaigrette) without meat and it was delicious! As I was getting ready to check out I noticed they had Kombucha on tap!! Yes. On. Tap. I totally got the Hibiscus Berry Kombucha and it was so good. I ate every bit of my grain bowl and it kept me full all day.

After a full day of thrifting, I decided it was time for dinner, and after passing this place for years, I finally decided to stop in. I was seated at a charming table for two. The interior had the vibe of a historic building, with brick, vaulted ceilings, and large windows. I ordered the Amatriciana from that day's specials menu along with the chocolate cherry martini. Typically I don't like sweet drinks, but this was fantastically balanced. As sweet as it was, it packed an equal punch. It felt decadent and sinfully delicious. The pasta itself was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was well made, with bits of fatty, crispy pork adding a rich, well-developed flavor. I parked on one of the downtown streets and walked about a block to the restaurant.

Interestingly, it's one block east of what has been our North Loop border, which has been 3rd Avenue. Why we placed an iron curtain on 3rd Avenue is beyond me. The bar was pleasant and fun on a weekday afternoon. My Espresso Martini was good, and the beer selection will make most people happy. I thought my Caesar salad was great; the taste came through without any need to deconstruct that many restaurants feel inclined to do. Our grinders were good, but there was too much stuff on them to call the sandwich a New England grinder; the name is more marketing than reality. Our server/bartender, Aiden, was engaging and fun. He's the kind of server every restaurant should have. We will return to Red Rabbit when we move to the North Loop in August. I can't wait.

After several visits over the last few years, here are my thoughts…read more -Lots of seating! If you're looking for a table indoors and the main area is packed, head to the back (towards bathrooms) where you'll find two rooms with additional seating which are usually quieter. - I tend to go for sandwiches, which include house made chips. Honestly, when I first went, I wasn't a fan of the chips, but it didn't take long for me to like them. Once while dining in, I found that most of them were just tiny bits. Well when the waiter came to ask how things were, I told/showed him... just as an FYI, not expecting anything. Well, he kindly brought me a bag to replace them. -The staff is mostly kind, with two male waiters/runners being especially nice and helpful. While myself or others are waiting they'll give friendly smiles, see if you need anything in the meantime. I like them! - Although I go mainly for the sandwiches, (my favorite being the Southwest Chicken Panini available in the Fall), I also like the mac and cheese and fries. I used to love the coconut cake, but something about the last one I bought tasted different. The filling and the cake texture... weren't as tasty as I remember. During my last visit I tried, the Reuben. Not for me, but they have lots of other things to try.
