I was a Garment Valet customer for 5 years and didnt have a major problem with them. I them moved 1.5 miles away and they told me that in order to keep picking up my laundry, I need to double my minimum dollar amount for each order and that they would only pick up 3 days a week. I called to speak with a manager and got the owner on the phone who happens to be a young kid who started this business in college. He basically told me that he doesnt need my business. In the middle of the call, he asked to call me back because he had something more important to take care of. I gave them one more shot to keep my business but they didnt even return my email. I made 3 calls to 3 separate companies and all 3 companies said they could start picking up my laundry ASAP. Dont use Garment Valet. Time & time again I am in a bind needing overnight laundry service and Garment Valet always comes through with 24 hour service for both wash & fold as well as dry cleaning. I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality of the service and flexibility of the people at garment valet. I tried other services and they were inconsistent and unreliable, also not nearly as customizable wrt option. They're definitely not the cheapest on dry cleaning but for someone who travels and has a hectic schedule, the convenience is currently well worth paying for. But the real kicker is their customer service. They're spot on and make it easy. When I thought id use the plan and realized it wasn't right for me, they immediately refunded me, no arguments. Quick service but lately the dry cleaning has smelled terrible - ranging from so chemically that it smelled like cigarette smoke to an indescribable fertilizer smell. I started using Garment Valet three months ago and was initially thrilled with the service. My laundry was picked up and dropped off in a timely manner, I was pleased with the way it was washed and folded, the price was reasonable, and being able to manage my account online was nice. But then Garment Valet lost my laundry for over a week and I had a horrible customer service experience with them that sounds similar to those in other reviews. To quickly summarize my experience - my laundry was not returned the day after it was picked up as it was supposed to be. It took me an email, a voicemail, and about seven phone calls to finally reach someone at Garment Valet to talk about my lost laundry and when I did get through, I was told I would be called back after they looked into it and I wasn't. I called back two more times over the next few days, spoke with someone who told me they would call me back and both times they didn't. Then I got an email saying that my order had been processed and was out for delivery, but it wasn't delivered that day. Finally I got a call from someone at GV on a Saturday morning (not a normal delivery day for them) saying that they would deliver my laundry that morning, which they finally did. Basically, they gave me the run around for over a week and charged me for it. I'm in the process of trying to cancel my account with them and get a refund. After this experience and reading the other reviewer's accounts of similar experiences, I do not trust Garment Valet with my laundry. read more

I received an email stating that they had delivered and dropped off my clothing to my concierge, however, my concierge never received them. I have never reviewed anything on Yelp before, but the service I've received from Garment Valet has made me inclined to do so. I have been living in a condominium building in downtown Boston since 2007, and I've been using the service since I moved in. At first, I loved it--clothes arrived in a timely fashion and they came back clean and ready to wear. I found the service highly convenient as well because I simply handed my bag to my concierge and that was the last I had to worry about it. In early 2008, they lost a shirt of mine. At that point I was extremely busy with work and had plenty of dress shirts, so frankly it didn't bother me and I let it slide without even following up. i just figured that this kind of thing happens occasionally and as long as it doesn't happen again, everything's fine. So they've generally done a good job. However over the course of time a number of things got lost. First, I was living with my girlfriend (now wife) and she submitted a shirt that had a sash to tie around the waistline. Well, this particular shirt came back with no sash, rendering it pretty much unusable because it looks like a parachute without the sash tying down the waist. Next, I accidentally left a pair of those knotted cufflinks in one of my shirts. The shirt came back but the cufflinks were gone--anyone who wears cufflinks from time-to-time knows that knotted cufflinks, while not gold, certainly aren't disposable. I would assume a dry cleaner would know this as well and return them with my clothes (losing knotted cufflinks actually happened 2 times). Next, they lost another dress shirt of mine. At this point, I had become pretty frustrated, but i guess I'm pretty tolerant because I still didn't complain and continued to use the service (mostly because it was so convenient). Then came the last straw. I had a brand new pair of pants that I had worn a few times and submitted for cleaning. I get the package back, and after rummaging through all of the clothes that were returned I started to come to grips with the fact that the new pants were clearly missing from the bunch. Now I should have complained in the past, but unfortunately I didn't. Given that the pants were brand new, I decided that it was time to either make them find the pants or get reimbursed somehow. So I called customer service, and of course no one answered, so I left a message. Someone returned my call and said that they would reimburse 10x the price to clean the item. For pants, that's $6.95 so I would receive $69.95. While the pants were brand new and cost more than $69.95, this seemed reasonable enough so I agreed and was told the check would arrive within two weeks. Two weeks later, no check. I was busy, so it slipped to three and finally after about three and a half weeks, I called back and left another voicemail, to which I got no response. I then submitted a complaint on the website and got no response. The holidays rolled around and I followed up after the New Year, again leaving a voicemail with a pretty frustrated tone. I finally elicited a response, and was told that there was a mishap in accounting and that for some reason the check was never sent. Ok fine, so they told me it would be two weeks. Two weeks roll by, I'm sure you can guess--still no check. So I called again, and this time my voicemail was pretty scathing. I received a call back from the service rep, and I chewed him out aggressively and exclaimed that this had better be taken care of or they'll lose a customer. Another person called me back shortly thereafter saying that she was responsible for the mistake and that a check has been cut through their Bank of America account and she has confirmation that it will arrive the next Wednesday. She also said I would get a confirmation email about it, something that never happened. Anyway Wednesday rolls around and, you guessed it, no check. So i called again today and am awaiting the excuse this time. I don't know if they think I'll just stop caring and stop following up?? It's not like I need this $69.95 to live but at this point it's the principal of the matter. The net of it is that I'm taking my business elsewhere regardless of the convenience of Garment Valet. The level of service has been horrendous and they aren't worthy of my business. And just as a final update, I finally received a check from them yesterday. read more

So glad to read that I'm not alone - I thought perhaps my standards were too high. But it turns out - it's them, not me! The good: easy and prompt delivery service and the high-tech approach to laundry - i like the e-mail notifications etc. But that's not really worth it when the dry-cleaning is terrible. More specifically, they lost several items (and they told me that that never happens! - posts below seems to contradict that); they seem to follow the online care instructions only at random; the pressing is just terrible. My boyfriend's work shirts are handled fine, but anything more complicated than that seems to throw them for a loop. So many items of clothing I've gotten back with weird creases, strange new wrinkles. They seem to have no idea how to follow the seams of a garment. Definitely don't send them women's clothing. All I can say is they must be listening to y'all - GV has provided me with some of the most outstanding customer service I have experienced in recent years. Truly, I feel so taken care of. I've used Garment Valet since it was Husky Express and I lived on campus. They've always cleaned my items quickly and never screwed up my orders, which is greatly appreciated! I've used them to dry clean blankets, your standard clothes, and even had the wash and fold service. My only complaint is that they no longer service my area and I'm now stuck with Zoots. read more

I really like this place. I live right down the street so I don't use the pickup service, but every time I drop off clothes I am amazed by how fast I get them back. I dropped off clothes(about 5 shirts and a suit) to be dry cleaned Thursday around 3:30, Friday Morning they where done. I've used other cleaners before, but for the price you cant beat GV. They replaced a button once for me(free of charge), so I am extremely happy with them. Definitely worth using! read more

They do your laundry after picking it up from wherever you want and then they drop it off for you. For me that pick up and drop off place is a fifth floor walk up in the North End so That to me deserves 5 stars. But, they've missed a number of pickups without giving me a heads up or anything more than an emailed apology. Ive had missed pick ups also because "the key didn't work". Well, I guess wiggling the door handle or key is beyond them, because the lock hadn't been changed and when they finally came back the key miraculously worked again. Also, They ignored my first request to use hypoallergenic products, but after that the clothes have come back without any perfumey smell and my nose hasn't been bothered since. A little pricey, which I would mind less if their online customer service had been more responsive to complaints I've had. But still...I stick with them, because I sure as heck am not doing my own laundry until I have laundry in my unit or at least on the same floor. read more

This was the last straw. Once again they suddenly changed the delivery time but didn't think to tell me. They always seem to know when I am traveling. When they started they had great service and would call but not so much now. They have also asked for extra time and then lost items and then claimed they had no record. (I kept the email chain including the snarky response). One time the driver forgot the keys so they didn't deliver and I was to get a credit but they lost that as well. I just started using garment valet and so far i have been very satisfied with both their delivery and cleaning services. My first time using their service I had a large order of wash/dry/ fold which was picked up and returned on the date that i requested on their website. Everything was folded properly and the socks were all matched up; also the price was very reasonable and considerably less than my local dependable cleaners. My second time i had 5 dress shirts and 2 polo shirts, and again everything was delivered at the requested time, so basically i am excited about the service . Poor Quality of Work! The customer service at GV is excellent however the quality of service depends on what your having done. I had a suit and wool coat cleaned and it was a job well done. However the dry cleaning of shirts is less than desirable. They are a very automated company, therefore if you want more starch in your shirts than what the claim heavy starch to be, you are out of luck. And, their heavy starch is not very heavy. I also sent in a tie, when I received it back from GV, there were little pulls throughout the tie; it look like fuzz but it wasn't. If their quality of service was half as good as their customer service, I wouldn't be looking for a different dry cleaners. read more

Garment Valet is a life saver, and a very well run business. Letting them do my laundry saves me easily 2-3 hours a week, and the results are quite good. I've had only one problem with them in over a year (shrunken sweater), and they were responsive and professional in how they handled it from the beginning. I never had a problem getting a response to an email, and it was clear they were focused on helping solve the problem from the beginning. I was very happy with the resolution, but even more so with how they handled it. I've used other wash and folds and dry cleaning services over the 15 years I've been in Boston, and in both quality and service Garment Valet is the best. read more

I recently just started using Garment Valet Wash Dry Fold service. And the first two times, I lost socks, and I only realized that because several pairs of socks came back unmatched. And recently, I did another service, and they lost my very expensive sports wear jacket. And I am not sure if they have lost more of my clothes or even underwear because let's be real, who is going to freaking count the number amount of clothes that you sent out. I contacted the customer service twice, and they never gave me back any explanation or even a call back. I no longer will use this service again. I would not recommend this to anyone, unless you have the time to count your clothes and make sure they all come back. read more

By far the worst run business I have ever seen. Like Lora, I wish I could of given 0 stars. The concept of the company is great, they are even pleasant on the phone.at first. Consider yourself lucky if you get all of your clothing back with an order. I lost 2 t-shirts after my first order. I was upset, but I thought, "hey it happens." I also got all of my button-down shirts back and none were done the way i requested. I called in and told them, to which they told me it was the first time they have ever heard a complaint about quality of their garments. I then checked Yelp, and saw I was not alone. I decided to give the company another chance. No way it could really be this bad right? My second order was not returned after 4 days, with no notification, I called the company. Again the representative Adam, who seemed like he was on drugs, said, "This is the first time this has happened, I apologize." Hmm whatever, I got my clothes back 2 days later, and once again the shirts had ruffles, and were heavily starched, when my preferences call for No starch! When i called again I made sure not to mention it was me, and told them my cleaning was not done up my standards. I was told, "This is the first time we have ever received a complaint about quality." They told me it couldnt possibly be their fault and "there is nothing we can do for you." Needless to say I will never be using the service again. read more

The absolute WORSE service I have ever experienced!!!!!!! Unless you're sending them your Target undies and socks, buyer BEWARE!!!!! Nothing of value should be given to Garment Valet because they will cause more damage than good. I sent a very expensive silk coverlet to be freshened and they managed to add two huge stains to the center which were never there and then sent it back with the stains clearly showing through the packaging and no notation whatsoever about the problem they caused. This has gone back for re-do for the fourth time. THEIR QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT IS RUN BY THE PERKINS SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND!!!!!!! Never, ever again! I also am advising all my neighbors in my high rise building to discontinue service, especially since we have many other quality dry cleaners coming to the building daily. I hope they have good insurance because they'll more than likely need to replace the set. read more

After having a lousy experience with their service once and having a tough time getting in contact with them, the co-owner finally got in touch with me. They reimbursed me for the wash and fold charge that resulted in a hole in one of my polos and even reimbursed me for the polo. While it did take over 2 months to get in contact with them, they are committed to improving their customer service. I found the co-owner to be extremely helpful and could tell he was upset with what had happened to my shirt and how hard it had been for me to contact them. I will definitely reconsider using them again if anything should happen to our laundry unit. I know there have been people who have never had a problem with this service but unfortunately they don't write reviews and only the people, like myself, who had problems do. Hopefully their commitment to improving customer service pays off. I have high hopes for the future of this company but I am still wary to use them again.
