This pains me. It really does. Not looking forward to this review: I was a Garment Valet customer for two years, from roughly August 2008 to August 2010. The first year was great: No complaints. The second year was a nightmare. Somewhere along the path from changing from 'Husky Express' to 'Garment Valet' the service completely changed. Though, I'll note up front there is one big positive: The drivers are AMAZING. Never once had a problem, either with delivery time, location, or quality of items vis a vis the delivery method. None. And delivery is free. Now the problems: First, and foremost. In the second-year the quality of their dry-cleaning of men's button-down shirts -- the staple of any dry cleaner -- went from good to horrible. If you ever wore a sweater over a dress shirt, they would be FAR too lazy to use a lint roller on the shirt either pre- or post- dry cleaning and the shirt would come back to you covered in lint from whatever color shirt you had been wearing... only now it was ironed-on lint. Further, khaki pants that were sent to them without stains came back with black streaks that appeared to either be from the iron used or the machine press used... and they refused to account for the damage. On top of it all, they actually recognized the problems: In approximately January 2010 I received a phone call from them that I was a category A or B customer that had not used their service in a while. They understood that they had had some problems with quality and were trying to do better. They gave me a 10 or 15% coupon that I saw was credited to my account for the next time I used their service as a way of apologizing and enticing me to come back. So I did... within a few weeks I sent an order in, only they TOOK AWAY the coupon THEY gave me just a few weeks earlier. I was flabbergasted. Poor Quality. Poor Service. Poor Manners. I loved the old Garment Valet, but after the third strike, I was sad to say I finally had to switch. The convenience of their home delivery is great, but if you want quality, I would go somewhere else. read more

I have used Garment Valet on and off since their days back when I lived in Boston, when they still referred to themselves as "husky express." I used their service on a whim after I thought that my car had been ticketed, but then realized that the supposed ticket was actually an advertisement for their laundry services. Considering I was lazy, like most males 18-22, I decided that my time was more important to me than to do my own laundry. Their system was very simple to understand - just set-up a laundry pick-up online and later that night, they would show up at my house and take my dirty stuff. The next afternoon I would have all of my linens, clothes and towels returned in majestically folded condition...better than I could ever muster myself. In the few occasions where I had to speak with the staff at husky express, they always did everything in their power to help me get everything I needed. Under one circumstance, I needed my clothes before 6pm for an early dinner date and they scheduled their entire delivery around me getting my clothing at the time I requested. I recommend their services to anyone needing their laundry done right. Since I have become a father recently, I've found they give me more time to take care of the little things that make up being a good parent. I was surprised to pick up the phone and find their name was suddenly "garment valet." Fear not - the name change does not change their commitment to excellence. read more

Garment Valet has poor service. They overcharged me by classifying all my tops as a "blouse" -- including tank tops and basic shirts. For reference, that's a difference of $7.69 versus $3.99, and that 193% differential adds up when you have a lot of items. I trusted you, Garment Valet! Disclaimer: My one star is based solely on their customer service, which is so terrible that I haven't even had my clothes laundered by them! I have no idea about their cleaning abilities. So I had a special promotion so I signed up for Garment Valet. I was really excited because I had a few loads of laundry to do, and I was going out of town soon so I figured I could send it out and not have to do it! Yay! After signing up, I went to click to schedule an appointment. I clicked and it automatically signed me up for a pickup that day. NOT what I wanted! I immediately cancelled it, since I was having people over soon and didn't have time to get everything ready, and rescheduled for the next day. Around 10pm that day, in the middle of having people over (and after GV is supposedly open!) a delivery guy came to pick up my clothes. I think it's ridiculous that you can schedule an appointment, cancel it 2 minutes later, and they still come! Bad system if you ask me! The next day I got everything ready and set the bags out in the morning as I'd be in and out the whole day. I noticed when I came in that night that they were STILL there. I went to check online if they were coming, and it said - for some reason - that my order was cancelled! I was SO mad because I had work the next day and didn't have time to do laundry, and now I had to go out of town and didn't have any clean clothes!! I tried calling them but no one answered, and I emailed them and asked them if they could possibly pick up the clothes first thing in the morning and return them that day - no dice. I didn't even recieve that pleasant of an email back from management (2 days later) - it basically felt like they were saying I was an idiot and couldn't use a computer. I am sorry your system is so bogus that it doesn't run it correctly, but isn't the number one rule of thumb in sales that "the customer is always right"?? I was super irate that they are just so nonchalant about things, and that is customer service that I won't deal with! Aren't we in a recession, and as a start-up company shouldn't you be trying to do your best to make your customers happy?? I think this company is crap, and if they keep up with the service I've experienced they will definitely not be open long! read more

I've used Garment Valet for 3+ years now--since they were Husky Express. They're fast, consistent, and I've never really had a problem with lost or missing items. One time I did have an item returned without a button (I wasn't even sure it went missing during the dry cleaning process) but Garment Valet sewed my replacement button back on without a problem (in fact, they sewed it back on with relish--they seemed eager to go above and beyond the call of duty). If you're a busy, urban professional and need an easy dry cleaning solution, Garment Valet is the right choice. read more

I wish I could give GV more than 5 stars. I have been a loyal customer for about 4 years now - I have practically forgotten how to work a washer and dryer. I use them for both Wash/dry/fold along with dry cleaning. I have never had an issue - they've even replaced broken buttons on my shirt for free. 24 hour turn around time for all my laundry and dry cleaning is something that I have never seen before. I love clean clothes! Just got my first order back from Garment Valet tonight and I'm thrilled. I had to get over 20 pieces of work clothes dry cleaned and they all came back clean and fresh, and pressed to perfection. I'm still in utter disbelief at how low the dry cleaning prices are here - $2 for dress shirts, $11 for dresses, and $6 for pants, blouses, sweaters, and blazer/ sportcoats - and this INCLUDES pickup/delivery service. For any questions (I pestered them with phone calls before my first order) the customer service guy is super nice and patient. These dry cleaning prices are by far the lowest I've come across in Brookline. Last year I called 5 dry cleaners around here and chose Dependable Cleaners, which charges about 25% more than Garment Valet. Not to mention, I have to take precious time out of my day to haul a 15 lb bag to/from the store, wait in line, etc. Some things to note - 15 lb minimum for wash/dry/fold, and 25$ order minimum if you don't have concierge service at your building. They also do tailoring (at low prices as well) and clean the item afterwards, just either pin or write a note about what needs to be done. I'll be using them for foolproof stuff like hemming. If this service continues to be great, 5 star potential for sure. read more

I have used Garmet Valet for sometime now. I think the quality of the cleaning is good. My laundry always smells fresh and it neatly folded when it is returned to me. I find the customer service to be sub par. It has been difficult to get in touch with an actual person when there are issues (my issues have been with delivery. They often leave it at the wrong apartment in my building). I would have continued to use them if not for the fact that as of today, their prices are increasing by 40% from $1.25/lb to $1.75/lb. I think this price increase is just ridiculous and puts them significantly higher than any of their competitors. read more

It is unfortunate that a company with such potential and access to the luxury rental buildings in Boston can't seem to get it together. We have used Garment Valet for a few months now. Most orders have had problems. We are charged different amounts for the same item, have had items not show up for a few days (after an e-mail is sent that we are missing something) and today...a beautiful shirt showed back up at home with a new stain. Needless to say, we have tried a few times to communicate our concerns with the Garment Valet team with no response. Using Garment Valet has served to be more stressful than helpful. read more

I have never written a poor review for anything, and I hate to do this, but this was by far THE WORST experience I have ever had with a company. The service they provide is far less than satisfactory, however, their communication is beyond attrocious. They might as well not have a "Contact Us" section on their website, as it has gone unanswered on way too many occasions. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. Without a washer/dryer in my building, I thought Garment Valet was a Godsend. It SEEMED so simple, fairly affordable, and well worth it. Here's an overview of my experience (and this is just an overview, as there is so much more not even worth getting in to.) My last experience at the bottom is by far the worst, and the most upsetting, 1st time: I received someone else's belongings. I informed them of this. They offered to come retrieve the articles that were not mine. They never showed. Two calls later, never showed. 2nd Time: They dried the bag of clothing I had separated and labeled as "Hang Dry." They offered to "steam stretch" my clothes so they werent ruined. I had sent out 65 lbs of laundry. I was annoyed but just hoped it wouldnt happen again. I was really busy, so I really wanted this service to work. 3rd Time: They failed to return my clothes the following day. Upon calling, they went back to the warehouse and arrived with some of my clothes. The other bag of clothes was unlocatable at the time. They didnt seem concerned. They finally returned it, a few days later. No apologies. 4th Time: They lost an item that was extremely important to me (a blanket passed down to me as a baby). They accused me of "not sending it in the order." I KNEW it had gone out in the order. They wouldnt take responsibility. No one would return my calls, emails, nothing. Finally, after much fuss (it took about a month to get in contact with someone that could "help"), Adam had me send in a photo and agreed to send it around to the orders that had gone out that same day, one month earlier. I sent in a photo. It never got sent around. No response back. I emailed again. No response. I called. Someone was going to get back to me. Nothing. This went on for a while. No call back, no offer for compensation (although to me, this item did not have a price), no concern or responsibility taken for losing the item. I had given up and was very upset. I called and requested that my front door key please be returned, as I was not planning on ever using their services clearly. They said it would be. That was in May 2010. It's now December 2010. I have placed numerous calls and written numerous emails requesting the key. They just dont care at all and it's an awful way to run a business. I hoped more than anything this service would work. That;s why I continued to use it, even after the first few mishaps. I wish I never had continued and I wish I had listened to the negative reviews. It wasnt until i lost an important item and was literally just ignored by their staff (since May), that I realized what a mistake I had made by using them. Make your own decisions for using them, (clearly i did even after reading reviews), but just be prepared to handle the outcome...because they surely wont. read more

I've been using Garment Valet to pick up and drop off my dry cleaning for about two years now, and recently I've decided to stop using their service. What makes me most upset, is that I should have just come to yelp first since many, many other users of Garment Valet seem to have the same problem I have recently had. Not only does Garment Valet have the worst customer service, but they will also lose your clothing (I just lost about $900 worth of clothes) and about 20 phone calls and four weeks later, they won't do anything about it! The staff there does not return your calls and they have shady reports of what happens to your clothing. I was told the driver never picked up my dry cleaning left in my foyer, because he could not gain access to the building, but we always leave our dry cleaning in the unlocked portion of our foyer. I understand that things happen, especially in a delivery service where you never really see the driver pick up and drop off your clothes, but at least a professional company should act like they care and make attempts to help you find your missing items. I hope that others will take my advice and look elsewhere for your dry cleaning needs--STAY AWAY from this company! read more

I've always been protective over my clothes but GV handles them with great care every time and I love working with their friendly customer service team. I've used them on and off over the years. First at Northeastern, and now at my own apartment where we have a concierge. Their service has always been great, but the customer service used to, quite frankly, suck. I am delighted to say that this has completed improved, and that their customer service is best in class (not so common in the laundry industry). Just today, there was a small error in their system around my billing. They contacted me before I noticed it, and offered to correct it and give me a free load in addition!! One of their reps, Zak, helped me out. Also, a few days ago I spoke with a rep named Adam who offered me advice on how I could lower my costs by consolidating my loads. He presented it kindly as an alternative option, without seeming sales-y. I ended up sticking with their "Pro WDF" plan because it gave me more flexibility, but I appreciated the advice. read more

I've been using GV for over a year now, and they have always exceeded my expectations with speed, convenience and quality. I'm a picky girl when it comes to laundry, and I am nothing less than impressed every time! I love the email updates, too. They hemmed my slacks for $10! I have been reticent to use a laundry service. I had 50 pounds of laundry picked up by Garment Valet and crossed my fingers. They picked up very promptly and delivered in 24 hours as promised. My laundry was exceptionally cared for. The folding was retail quality, the one garment with a stubborn stain was cleaned to perfection, as was everything else, and this was done at a fair price. I trust them to WDF everything article I own. Web scheduling is perfect, pick-up/delivery people are courteous and efficient. read more

Garment Valet is working out some bugs with regard to minimum fees and the conditions under which they choose to repair your clothing. It took them quite a while to reply to my complaints, but they were resolved over the phone. Several months after writing this review, they called me to let me know that they no longer "auto repair" clothing, but instead offer an email or phone call to ask whether damaged items should be repaired. This is a better system, so I changed my rating from two to three stars. read more

DO NOT USE. Their quality of service has gone downhill over the years. They remove collar stays, don't iron shirts properly, and routinely damage clothing (I've had rips, tears in garments that were sent in without damage). And the last few times, I've had to re-iron collars and arms of shirts because they didn't handle the clothes properly when they returned them. read more

They really struggle to get things right. They are prompt and on pick up and drop off without issue. They can't, however, follow your directions. I request no fabric softener and unscented detergent​. Every other time my​ clothes are so strong and slimy​ due to fabric softener. There is nothing ever consistent about their folding. You can request how things are folded but, they do what they want. Don't waste​ your time calling. They don't usually call back. read more

I've been a customer of theirs for over two years. Here is a list of what's happened: - Lost first house key - Claimed to have broken second house key, but then admitted they had lost it again (breaking point) - Lost numerous items, including khaki pants, 2-3 button down shirts, and a pair of slacks. - Broke buttons on blazer and refused to reimburse for repairs. - Took over three months to deliver a single item of clothing, and then gave up by saying they could no longer deliver to my apartment and that I could pick this single item up at their facility. For a long time, the convenience was worth the lack of responsibility and terrible service, but not any more. I've started using our local dry cleaner, and the quality, timing and service has been a wake-up call. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

This service is extremely bad. I wouldn't recommend you to use it. Their prices are not low, but instead are in fact a bit elevated when compared to other services. One could thing that the reason behind this is because of their 24 hour service and such. It turns out taht things are not as easy as they seem. Garment Valet ALWAYS lose people's clothes. Even if they don't lose them, it can take them 2 weeks to deliver something which was supposed to take a day. In my case, They lost a 300 dollar jacket for 2 months, until by pressuring them they ended up giving back to me. They also lost a bundle of 20 pounds of clothes, which I still have no idea if I will ever get back.. after all.. its already been a week and a half. So basically, unless you are really desperate to wash your clothes, you're a college student with zero time, then maybe go for it.. but other than that, stay away . Its really not a smart way to use your money. Trust me, you can find much better services in Boston. read more

I read the mixed reviews last year but decided to try Garment Valet anyway. I figured it was worth the risk compared to lugging dirty clothes to the cleaners in person. I have been using GV for 1 year and I have had no problems. The online system is easy to use. They pick up the laundry (including old hangers and plastic bags in the reusable sack) off of my back porch the same day as I put in the online request. The clothes come back clean and folded and the shirts pressed on hangers like any other dry cleaner, and they are returned to my door the next day (including Sunday). Their staff are very friendly and trustworthy, I had no problems trusting them to enter my apartment when I wasn't home. Garment Valet is a fantastic service - I have been using them for 18 months now. While yes, I've had a few hiccups here and there, they have always been resolved in a timely manner. Here is a summary of why I think they deserve more appreciation than they probably receive on Yelp: 1. Easy to use web portal and payment service - pickups are only one-click away, can be ordered same-day, and its simple to customize special instructions 2. Timely pick-up and drop-off - with the exception of one Nor'easter this year, Garment Valet has always held up to the 24-hour turnaround 3. Competitive pricing - While I miss the $1.25/lb wash-dry-fold pricing of y'ore, the current rates are still worthwhile for me relative to spending 3 hours per week at a laundry matt and dropping off shirts at a dry cleaner. 4. Good service - I've had a few problems before (mostly with billing) and every time I call, I immediately get a response and resolution within 24 hours. I'm frankly shocked to see that others haven't reviewed for the same reason 5. High quality - My laundry is always nicely folded and categorized, and shirts look great - never lost an important item (well, I continue to lose socks... weird) or found one ruined. They also do a good job recognizing stains on my shirts and targeting them specifically - definitely the extra mile for detail. read more

Recently I received a pair of pants that Garment Valet had kept back for tailoring. There were several areas that I knew needed tailoring and my account says they should keep it if they see anything. I got my pants back better than when I sent them. The pants were hemmed, my pockets were fixed and they looked fantastic! I was a little hesitant when I did not get the pants at first with my order because they had held them back, but the guy on the phone (Mike? Mark?) let me know what the deal was. Garment Valet is the best dry cleaning company I have ever used. Not only are they incredibly fast (pick up and drop off) my clothes always come back in pristine condition. I love that they use organic cleaning solutions. Once, I had a questions about my bill. I called, immediately, spoke with someone who explained the charges and went on about my day. Best part is, they beat the prices for most other dry cleaners in the area. read more
