Garey Park is an absolute gem! We celebrated my son's birthday at Garey Park a couple of months ago, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we booked to the minute we packed up, everything was smooth, easy, and honestly kind of perfect. The park is stunning and has so much to do. So much space, beautiful scenery, and tons of options for kids to run wild . My son had the best time celebrating with his friends. Between the playground, splash pad, and shaded picnic areas, the kids were entertained the entire time. No one was bored, not even for a second. There's something really special about this place. It feels like you're in the middle of nature but with all the modern conveniences nearby. It made the whole party feel relaxed and joyful. read more

Please ignore the other reviews. Many people seem frustrated and upset about the fees, but there's a good reason for them! Those fees help maintain this BEAUTIFUL park, which offers tons of activities for families with kids and dogs. The bathrooms were quite clean and stocked with toilet paper. The playground was filled with kids having a great time. We enjoyed walking the trails along the San Gabriel River, and our dogs had a blast! They even have horseback riding and zip lines, along with numerous trails to explore! We've visited free dog parks throughout Austin, Leander, and Cedar Park, and they often end up neglected and trashy! One of our favorite local parks in the area. There are plenty of walking trails, the San Gabriel River which my pup loves to run around in when it's hot, fishing pond, event facility, dog park-the list goes on. The one area we use pretty frequently is the splash pad and playground area-it's awesome! We've hosted and attended a couple of birthday parties here because they have pavilions you can rent, the playground is spaced out with lots of things to do for the kiddos (and adults too ha). Best part of the playground are the zip lines! They are so fun. Park is clean, beautiful views, and it usually isn't super crowded. There is a small entrance fee to get into the park, but it's worth it. Definitely one you have to check out! read more

Easy Hike Good parking. Great place for an easy stroll but the hike is not worth packing a big sack for. Bring a decent sized water bottles and some comfy sneakers, you'll be golden. Our first time to the park. Our park itself is beautiful. It's very well maintained from what we can see . I Brought my grandson to the splash pad. There's hardly any water coming out of the spouts. It's a very big splash pad, but it needs a lot more water features. Coming from The one in liberty Hill it's a bit of a disappointment. The covered pavilion is very nice. It is very clean. Expansive 500+ acre restricted access park maintained by the City of Georgetown. The park includes many amenities such as playground with a splash pad, large covered pavilions with numerous, long picnic tables and well-maintained, accessible restrooms, a dog play and exercise park, an equestrian center, extensive hiking trails, and fishing ponds. The Garey House can be booked for weddings (and possibly other events). We went on Saturday of the past weekend, and a couple of amenities were closed. Due to a Williamson County burn ban, outdoor grills could not be used. Also due to watering restrictions, the splash pad was out of service. But those were first world problems, given the seriousness of our water situation and high wildfire risk. Their is a tiered fee collected per person at the entry gate. The tiering depends on whether or not you're a citizen of Georgetown. Just be prepared to somehow pay for entry. Recommended. read more

This beautiful park has a $2 entrance fee for Georgetown residents and $4 for non-residents age 4 and over. Entrance fee is half price from October 1 thru March 31 on Tuesdays. Garey Park has a wonderful splash pad, two large playscapes (one for toddlers and another for older kids), 2 zip line swings, sandbox, you get the idea. There are 3 pavilions to choose from for seating and you can also rent them out for parties. I'm sure the entrance fee has a lot to do with how clean and nice this park is, even the bathrooms. It always feels safe and the equipment is in working order. The layout makes it so kids can have endless hours of fun and there will be zero wiggles left at the end of your visit! It's a bit of a drive and yes, there's an entrance fee but I don't mind it if it means my kids get to play in a clean and safe environment. This was previously a private ranch that was graciously donated by the Garey Family along with $5 million dollars for development- I'll happily pay a fee and I'm considering getting a yearly membership. If you're offended by the entrance fee then visit a park that's free so you can see the difference. read more

We booked a pavilion for my son's first birthday over MDW and it was super easy to book and the space was clean upon arrival. The kids had a great time playing in the splash pad and the pavilion was great to have the food and cake for the whole party. There is also a huge playground that is well maintained. Recommend for parties or just to bring the kids to blow off some steam. read more

This is a beautiful park with an awesome playground and splash pad. There is an easy looking hiking trail, and a scenic reception hall with ponds and a fountain. This is one of the best parks in Williamson County. There is an entrance fee of $4 per person (cheaper if you're a Georgetown resident). The annual pass is $150 and it's good for everyone in a vehicle. Don't let the entrance fee deter you. Because there's a fee, there is always less people in the park and the fee helps with the upkeep of the park. The grounds are SO CLEAN!! All of the equipment is in fantastic condition. There's so much to do in this park. The splash pad is open from April until October. There are several horse water canyons, plus other water features. There is also an enormous shaded pavilion right next to the splash pad. Plus another smaller pavilion with 4 tables under it on the other side of the splash pad. There are spring-loaded horses next to the splash pad with a third pavilion next to that. In addition to the splash pad, there is an enormous playground. The playground has those nice rubber mats instead of wood chips. There is a smaller playground for littler kids and then a large playground for the bigger kiddos. There are so many slides, ropes, bridges and other features for the kids to use on the playscape. There's also a merry-go-round right next to the playscape. There are three zip lines at the farthest end of the park. The zip lines are a decent size. They're not enormous, but I think they're pretty standard compared to other parks I've been to. There is a shaded tree area next to the playscapes plus another pavilion. The final pavilion is over by the zip lines. I've been hard pressed to find a better park in the Leander/Georgetown area! read more

This park is really quite large. You drive in and pay a fee at the gate. $2 for locals and $4 for anyone else. There are several different trails you can hike depending on on what you want to do. There's a pet park one for walking dogs and it has a river access area. We stopped by there to walk along the river. There were some neat rock formations and fossil shells along the beach. There's so much more than you can do in one day on the trails alone. There's an event hall with a giant pond where many folks were fishing. Parking is pretty easy with several lots along the trails. There's even a horse section near the bottom of the park. Several of the trails here are even shared by horseback riders so be aware. We had a good time and would go back. read more

We went to see Santa on Sunday. I love Garey Park but this experience was sub par. The snacks were cheap garbage from Sam's Club. Fruit snacks with dyes, rice crispies treats filled with chemicals. Hot chocolate was cheap-o Swiss Miss. I'm fine with paying $15 per kid, but I wanted to see some cute treats, maybe something a little more special than Doritos and spicy Cheetos. What a rip. The photo ops were good, but we won't come back next year. read more

We love the park so much !! My 2 and 3 year old love coming and playing on the playscape

This is by far one of the most beautiful hiking spots and large Clean dog park. I took my dog here on a Tuesday afternoon it was the best dog park that I have ever been to. Owners are all very calm and watch their dogs. So the dogs are well behaved and the owners are all kind and helpful. They even had 3 separate dog park areas. One was for dogs under 30 pounds, the other two were for larger dogs. It was a surprisingly huge area with lots of shaded areas and water fountains for dogs by the gates. They have clean bathrooms almost everywhere and water bottle refill stations as well. I loved visiting the Garey house and would love to book that venue for future parties. My dog also loved the hiking and seeing the river. He didn't want to swim. Overall this is a great place and I plan on going back again soon. Also they have free days on Tuesday until April. If not it's $5 a person for residents and $10 a person for non residents. read more

Gorgeous park, in my opinion is the prettiest, most up to date, cleanest and stunning venue in the area. I've taken many pictures here and our children have enjoyed this beautiful well kept land immensely. It offers a little bit of everything including horse riding trails, a splash pad, and a beautiful creek running through it. It always feels very safe, clean and never over crowded because there is a small entry fee at the front gate (about the same as a happy meal) The workers at the entry are always extremely kind and thoughtful. read more

We are new to the area and our neighbor suggested we check out Garey Park as a place of recreation to bring our kids to. We love it! It is well kept and so, so beautiful. Yes, there is a cost to go in, but it is well worth it in my opinion. The trails are plentiful and the playground/splash pad is huge and offers a wide area for kids to play. read more

Went to Garey Park today, what a great park! I am totally jealous of Georgetown, since I live in southeast Austin, it will be a drive to get there but it's totally worth it! There's so much for kids to do here! Can't wait to see what the trails look like to walk around on too. The only thing I think that would make this park even more perfect would be to have the play areas covered. In the summer heat, kids will only have a limited amount of time in direct sun. Also, recycle bins would be great too. I only saw regular trash cans, which was a bummer. read more

When we went while there were other people there it wasn't crazy packed -- which I appreciated a ton. There was a small fee for entry into the park, but it wasn't outrageous at all! So many things to do and explore. The two fishing ponds are great for kids and adults to fish. There's even a nice walking/hiking trail that leads to the San Gabriel river. The splash pad is very big and well kept. Lots of covered area to sit on bless it's reserved for a party! OK, so we decided to bite the bullet and visit the park. There was an absolutely disgusting $10 fee just to get the car in the park (including the first two people), and then, on top of that, a $2 charge for each person after that. What the hell? But, we went anyway. The playground was nice and well kept, but not very large. Certainly not with the $20 it cost to get my family in the park. We also looked at the horse arena. At first I thought it was a joke. Then, I figured out Georgetown was actually serious with that horse arena. I about fell out of my car. This park was getting more and more ridiculous by the second! However, the river access was pretty cool. The trail was wide, and well kept. The river was beautiful with several spots to actually get in the water. My kids played in the river and climbed on the rocks for nearly an hour. In the end, I would not recommend this park to a single person, both because of the cost and the super-stupid horse arena. I think if people actually boycotted this place, maybe Georgetown would actually do something useful. DO NOT GO TO GAREY PARK!!! read more

We LOVE Garey Park. We have an annual membership and that is the way to go. They have so many fun things to do here that we didn't even live in Georgetown and still signed up. We love the dog park, splash pad, playground, and walking among the beautiful path to the river. It's my happy place . The whole family loves it here. The Garry's gave us all a great gift when they offered up their land for this park. Thank you. The bad reviews are people complaining they had to pay to get in, which has always been that way and no surprise. You pay for other entertainment venues such as trampoline park, bounce houses, and movies but a park charging is outrageous? It costs money to get in. It's larger than Zilker with really cool stuff and is thus expensive to run. They could either raise EVERYONES taxes in Wilco or just charge the folks that use this place. It makes sense to charge those that use it IMO. Get over it or don't go. read more

This was a fun park to visit. We even came all the way from Buda to check it out. There are lots of fun activities on the playground for varying age groups. My 1 yr old and 4 yr old both had a great time. However, it doesn't earn the fifth star from me for this one reason... NO CHANGING TABLE?!?! Really? This is a beautiful, new, family friendly park and there was no changing table in sight. Changing a baby from a swim diaper to a regular diaper & then dry clothes in those bathrooms was ridiculous and quite a sight to see I'm sure. Since we were done for the day I used our towel to lay it on the floor but it was really disappointing not to have a changing table in the restrooms. I also wish the city would charge per car, not per car+individuals. Seems to make the pay line longer and can add up quite a bit! Oh - and more shade. But hey - it's Texas! My husband and I go for a walk here at least once a month. We are outside the city limits, it does cost $8 for both of us per visit. Every other park in Georgetown is free. The restrooms are clean though, and I'm willing to pay for that. Also, there is usually someone picking up trash. I appreciate that. read more

The most dismal walk I've ever done in my life. Boring. If you like to be bored to death and walk on pebbles from Home Depot and have a "walk in the woods" that's devoid of all nature and excitement, this park is for you. Love asphalt? With $10 for 2 nonresident and $2 for an each editional person we dont plan to go to that park often. But that park promises to be awesome. There are already enough amenities to spend couple of hours with kids there. Our kids especially liked zip lines. So I guess we going to check on that park later. Stopped by to check the new park out. Can't tell you how disappointed I was. Won't pay to get into a park that my taxes go to support. I asked if I could just "take a look". Not unless I coughed up the fee which, I didnt. This isn't a commercial enterprise that needs to make a profit. It's for all of us, not just the folks that can afford it. Georgetown needs to reconsider their position here. Are they a government agency, here to serve the public or, are they in business to make a profit? If they are a government agency and can't afford to operate the park without fees, then either close the park or reduce the size of government so monies can go to the park. Stop feeing and taxing us. read more

Great park with wonderful trails. You can enjoy an easy trail by the river or steeper trails to get your heart racing. We saw equestrian trails as well. After our hike we enjoyed a picnic under the pavilion and the kids had a blast at the playscape. We drove around some and bumped into a doggy park. Our 4 lbs yorkie has a blast running around. City of Georgetown seems like they would do anything to get money these days as if they don't have enough. Wishing the City Council would wake up and realize this is awful and change it to free. The park left a lot to be desired. We wanted to drive through quickly to see if the largest pavilion would work for a day-after-the-wedding bbq. I told the girl at the entry that we called about viewing the pavilion for a wedding event, so I would just need to drive through and take pictures and we would exit. She told me we had to pay $8...so we did. Once we got inside, the grounds and green and spacious. The pavilions were all close together, there is a tiny splash pad in the middle. The women's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. It was extremely flooded from the rain, wet toilet paper was all over the floors and the toilets. Every stall was dirty. I called my family to tell them I didn't think the pavilion was what we were looking for, at that time I told my Mom we paid $8 to enter. She said she spoke to Rowan the prior day and to stop by and ask her for a refund because she said we could enter for free...I drove by, asked for Rowan and she was rude as hell over that $8. She wanted to keep going on and on about how I needed to ask for her from the beginning and my Mom (who is out of state) should have told me to mention her name. I didn't see anyone in there at the time of arrival but the girl who told us we HAD to pay to drive through. Get some customer service training, Rowan. The proper way to handle that situation would have been: "I apologize for the misunderstanding. Unfortunately, we can't do same day refunds on a card but I'll give you a number to call for a refund tomorrow. Also, could I write down your name so I can leave a note for the staff since I won't be here tomorrow?" The park didn't have much to do, the bathrooms were nasty, and the front gate (first impression) was the worst part of it all. There are plenty of parks with no entry fee that offer much more...Like Lakewood down the road. read more

But, then we found out it was $10 just for the car, plus $2 for every person past the first two. We had our whole family with us, so the jokers wanted us to pay $20.00! Just to play at a playground! Pay to get in. Dog park has nothing but rocks.. no grass. No one there. Has water for them which is nice but Rattlesnake country dog park. I can see way more for free and dogs have a better time and not hurt their paws elsewhere close by. Only saw a few people with kids at a playground. Maybe good for a hike ? If shaded ? I was really let down .. been on lots of beautiful hikes for free .. the only reason I'd go back would be to check the trails. But who wants to pay every time ? Not me. read more
