We visited over the weekend for the grand reopening of Joanne Land Playground and it is truly amazing. It has so many wonderful obstacles and slides for the children to enjoy. I don't want to upload pics due to children are present but please go check it out because you won't be disappointed. The main stage is nice and there is a pavilion for you to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere while reading a book or just taking a moment to chill. I always enjoy coming here to cycle or walk but really appreciate the playground upgrade for the children. read more

This week, I came to the park to watch the sunrise for Thing One's class of 2025 'last first day' event. I have been to this park many times, but never for a sunrise. Old Settlers Park is 3.13 miles of trail that runs through a large portion of the park. Old Settlers provides the community with a number of different sports fields and courts, which include baseball, softball, football, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. For those on the latest pickleball craze, this location also has a great community of pickleball players and offers a variety of courts to suit players of all skill levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced. When in the park, visitors should note that that park has 10 total courts: Courts 1-7 are lined for tennis. Courts 1-6 and 8-10 are lined for pickleball. For those who like to fish like myself and Thing One, Old Settlers Park is home to Bright Lake. Bright Lake has excellent bank access and is a great spot to catch catfish, largemouth bass, and rainbow trout. In the past, we've caught catfish (four in one hour). Therefore, if fishing is your jam, bring a cooler to take home your catch. However, it should be noted that a current Texas fishing license is required to fish in all Round Rock area lakes. License options are available for Texas residents and nonresidents, including annual and one-day fishing licenses. You can purchase a license online through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website, as well as at most bait shops and sporting goods. If you are a of 50% or more disabled veteran like myself, you can get a fishing license in the state of TX for free. For the kiddos and us 'bigs', this park is also home to Rockin R', which is a 150,000 square-foot water park and is complete with a lazy river, slides, and a water playground. Additional amenities include tunnel showers, a water cannon, tipping frogs, floor geysers & a zero-beach-entry play area. This park really has something for everyone. Each time I have been here, I've had a different experience. This week's experince was a once in a lifetime for Thing One as this event signified the start of his senior year of highschool and definitely a first for me as I am never at a park for ANY reason at 6 AM (well, unless the park has java and scones, then...). #bewellcentraltx read more

This park is amazing. It has lots of great trails and mile markers. Unfortunately there is some construction going on right now on the pond part where the baseball fields are. But this park is huge and lots to do. I would recommend anybody to go out to play football soccer basketball court. Any sport really they have almost everything here. We take my daughter to the trails and the I call it a pond. With some really nice views. read more

Old Settlers has been our go to park to walk or attend an event going on here. There are some wonderful places here to take photos at. There are athletic fields here as well. Don't make a rookie mistake like I did. I booked family photos here not knowing that they were hosting cross country there. Whoops! My most recent visit here was to Yonders Point inside the park to see the 9/11 Memorial. Thank you for bringing this memorial here and offering a clean park. read more

The park currently looks like a war zone due to ongoing construction. Many visitors are also concerned that the changes are making the park feel overly commercialized. Disc Golf The disc golf course is great--full of obstacles that make the game more fun and challenging. Running If you're a runner, consider other options. The trail is entirely concrete, and if you want to go beyond 3.5 miles, you'll need to improvise your route. Water access is poor--only two fountains along the trail, and a third one requires detouring to the soccer fields. Water Fountains Water access is a serious issue. The fountains have been shut off for months with no signage, and my complaints to the park have gone unanswered. It's negligent and frustrating. read more

I love this park. My family and I frequently visit this park to go on walks. They have different walking tracks to choose from and they are pretty immaculate. The town has invested a lot into this park over the past few years. It is definitely more busy than it used to be and parking is slowly becoming an issue. I suggest checking out the different free events the town hosts at Old Settlers. They are always really top notch events. read more

Yesterday I visited Yonders Point at this location for the first time with my family and wow!! This place it huge, well kept and beautiful: soft grass, wooden platforms for seating in an amphitheater-style seating area (perfect if you forget to bring lawn chairs or blankets), poles for hammocks, etc. We came for the Go Wild Friday Fun Nights event where they offered an organized schedule of events and activities for families. Some of the events and activities included: a birds of prey and reptile show, petting zoo, a movie and more! They also offered free snacks, drinks and beer. The family and I had so much fun and I'm so glad that we decided to come! We will definitely be back for this event and more in the future. read more

So we finally made our way out to this park and I'm glad we did. It's a nice park that has several different areas, a water park and some soccer fields. There's a few different parking lots throughout the area as you drive down the road. There's a pond that has different types of birds and some shade trees. The playground is epic and nicer than anything we had as kids. This is a great park to walk especially early in the morning before the heat of the day. read more

Every year we come for Juneteenth, and have the absolute best time of our lives! Last year we had to see kid and play, this year, BJ the Chicago kid! The music is so good, and never fails! They have lots of food and drink vendors along with items for sale. We usually bring a cooler with our own food and drinks as well as lawn chairs because the lines get long, but we always encourage patronizing black owned businesses! I am so excited for next year, and so glad that I have been able to attend the most recent years. This part is serving its purpose of bringing people together and being a host for peace and good vibes. I hope the events continue! read more

This really is a great location for the UIL Cross Country state championship. The grass is great... until it rains, then it's muddy, but that's not the park's fault. For a park, the bathrooms are pretty decent. Toilet paper- check, soap- check, hand dryer- not working but that's not as important as the other things. I did 3.5 miles running around trying to cheer on the runners. Parking is also pretty convenient. read more

Such a well maintained park in every respect. They have camping, fishing, located right next to the Dell Diamond and some great barbecue at the Salt Lick and they have all these wonderful baseball complexes as an aside. They support so many sports teams here! Baseball, Football, Soccer. Fields in amazing condition. Many with lights for night games. Restrooms clean and stocked. Unbelievable for all the activities that go on here-mass volumes on the weekend !!! Concession-open long hours. Coffee-soda-water-sports drinks-hot dogs-of coarse, other snacks-reasonable prices-and profits return to teams. Overall this is really a fantastic park. read more

Old Settlers Park is a gem. It may seem hidden off 79 in Round Rock but it is chock-full of good things. 645 acres of land that includes picnic shelters, 20+ ball diamonds, batting cages, soccer fields, tennis courts, a disc golf course, volleyball areas and paths. There is a beautiful small lake where you can feed the ducks and go fishing. It even has a small campground! But a hiking venue... it is not. Now there are 3+ miles of paved trails so I put Lola on a leash and we hit the trail to hike-er walk this place. Again, this is a huge park with everything one could ask for and is very well-maintained. There is also a water park here called Rocking River which I heard is a blast during summer hours for a nominal price. Next to this park is Dell Diamond the home of the Round Rock Express the AAA team of MLB's Houston Astros ( LA Dodgers for life ). Overall, a nice park to come to any day of the week one can enjoy solitude or fun with the family. Bluebonnets (known as the Texas State Flower) blooming is also something to look forward to come Spring. I highly recommend Old Settlers Park. HUGEEE Park. They just added the Joanne Land Playground that is really nice. A small lake is close by so you have a nice view while walking. There's a zipline there too. It has a swing seat, still kinda scary for 4 year olds and under but an adult can fit and go with them. I can't wait until the Summer to check out the water park! read more

Spring has sprung!! Lots of bluebonnets in bloom and trees ripe with leaves. What a pretty park with lots of beautiful scenery. Fantastic location for taking photographs. This park has both big and small playscapes. Both were a lot of fun for the kiddos. The issue is with the smaller play area....there is no fence erected to prevent little ones with superhuman speed from running straight down two drop-offs toward the larger playscape. We had to be on our toes the whole time while there. Speaking of toes, regretfully I wore sandals; playscapes are covered in tan bark. Tips: It would be wise to pack a light coat, hair tie etc. This particular area is always windy. If you enjoy feeding ducks, pack some extra bread. They came right up to us to eat. Super friendly without causing a frenzy. There is zero shade. Most of the trees here are too young to provide ample protection. Bring your sunscreen, hats, umbrellas and all things sun protection or just visit on an overcast day like we did. This park is probably miserable in the dead of summer. If you go on a cool, overcast day like we did, it made for a perfect afternoon. read more

I love taking my boys to this park. If I could change only one thing to make it perfect it would be a separate water fountain for dogs. The water fountain right next to the smaller playground has the coldest water and me and my kids use(d) it nonstop in this Texas heat. Twice now I have seen people picking up their dogs to drink from the same fountain. The Rabb park has a water fountain with a smaller and lower attachment at dog level so that the owner can push the button with their foot so their pup can get hydrated. Can someone replace the Old Settlers water fountains with those? Pretty please. Our kids get thirsty and their cups only hold so much. read more

Most horrible experience ever for a 4th of July. The women's bathroom had 2 stalls that thousands of people were supposed to be able to use?? We stood in line for the restroom for 50 minutes and then one of the stalls was so nasty that people had been using 1 stall - which explains why the line was moving so slowly!!! There were so many spider webs in the bathroom and you could see flies, gnats and other flying insects buzzing around and getting trapped in their webs. Even though we allowed ourselves plenty of time to use the restroom before the fireworks began, we were late getting back to our seats because of the long line and had to walk back to our seats in the dark. The parking - AWFUL!!!! It took us over an hour to start moving out of the parking lot. Never again will we make the mistake of going there on the 4th of July!! Everything there took 5 times as long as it should have. The lines for the rides, lines for food, lines to buy tickets, lines for the bathrooms....LINES everywhere!! It was the most horrible, unpleasant, 4th of July ever! Round Rock is not capable of accommodating that many people at that park. They need to put a lot of $$$ into that park and build new bathrooms, and several of them; they need to have more food vendors to accommodate all the people that show up at this venue. It was a huge disappointment!!! read more

One of Round Rock's finest parks--you'll find it tucked behind the Dell Diamond off 79. It's home to the Rocking R pool and loaded with activities that could meet anyone's needs. If you're an avid sports fan or have a future athlete on your hands you'll find great use in the massive multi-sport complex that was recently built. Not to mention you'll enjoy the well-lit tennis courts, soccer areas and the disc golf course on site. Maybe you're eager to escape the Texas heat wave and cool off in the Rocking R pool...well slow your step there partner, the place is always packed and happens to employee some of the rudest staff members. I've been countless times with the nuggets and each time it ceases to fail that I get attitude from an employee over something quiet mundane. For instance: my toddler (who is severely allergic to everything) happened to of been stung by a bee while enjoying a snow cone and when I asked the first aid department for a sting ointment they informed me to bring the child to them and shut the door and continued their chat; poor-poor-customer service. Another occasion the locker malfunctioned and when I asked them to open it the lead 'person,' informed me not to put so much stuff in the locker as it malfunctioned because of my items in a very rude mannerism as if I took too much time away from her priorities. I had a pair of flip-flops and a TOWEL in the locker-- As well, on a separate occasion my school age nugget is over 48'' and the teenager running the slide refused to let him slide even though the children in front of him were below the sign. After arguing with her I realized how pointless it was and left the facility, we'll stick to our gym pool from now on. Aside from the negative... There are several playgrounds on the winding road of Old Settlers Park--three to be exact, aside from the ones found at the sports complex. One playground has a playscape geared towards the little nuggets, with a dinosaur theme. If you're eager to have a park-side get together or a birthday party there are plenty of picnic tables, bbq grills, and space; as well covered areas. We celebrated Mother's Day here, the kids loved it--played catch, enjoyed the playground and we BBQ'd without a big crowd. For the nature lovers: you can also fish around the pond or feed the ducks, beware the geese are mean and will chase you; but it's a great laugh. And if you're into running there is a trail area around the park. On a side note: the gate entering by the Dell Diamond is often closed if rain water has caused a flood, you can enter the park on the backside. Overall we love Old Settler's! read more
