18 Holes of great Disc Golf that will challenge you to use all the shots in your bag of tricks. Most recently the "WILCO" [pronounced "Will - Ko"] (jargon affectionately known by local players) has gone through a very extensive cleaning out of dead trees and expired brush from the serious drought of 2011. The park was closed down for approximately 6 months during the trimming and removals, but the baskets and tee boxes never changed. Currently, there may be some chance of the baskets getting moved to bring back the proper use of the elements that make the course so beautiful and challenging, but nothing has been confirmed. If you play the DG course, remember: Please bring $1 PER PLAYER (if you do not own a season pass) to pay. Additionally, if you are playing in a large group, please be considerate of the limited amount of envelopes there and try to pay for multiple people in one envelope. This helps out the parks manage the envelopes and granted, if you are approached by Parks Officials, simply tell them your receipt number and they can verify the amount paid with the corresponding envelope deposited. *Important* PAY THE FEE. This fee is very nominal and allows for the great use of the park and facilities of a great course. *Important* If it rains and they close the park.. DO NOT PLAY IT. There is a reason they closed it, so it can be protected; if you are caught NOT paying or playing when it is closed, you will face a steep fine. About the course: The course is about 2 miles long and has many challenging holes. If you get the unfortunate tree hit or deflection into the woods, you will have the great challenge of getting out and back into the fairway. Pros/Advanced Players: will appreciate the challenges to make great shots and risk vs. reward options Intermediate Players: will appreciate the challenge that the course has and will improve your overall game with shot control, focus, and endurance for the long playing time. Beginners/Novices: It will be a challenge for the most part. I would ask that you go out there with an open mind, a knack for correcting your errors, and don't let the course beat you down. The environment can be rough on first time players and thrilling for seasoned veterans. You will get your $1.00 worth of play and you may end up donating more to your swear jar before you're done (we all do at one point or another). Since the tree removal, from he drought of 2011, many of the throwing lines have given you great opportunities for amazingly long shots and good birdie runs. Some of those lines have changed and some have simply stayed the same. The course has not returned to its former beauty and glory, but it is growing and developing upon itself again, that is the beauty of Disc Golf; courses never get old, they just age wisely. The WILCO course is a routine stop for many local pros and beginners alike, so if you are playing a round out there you may never know who you may see or join up with. If you play in large groups, please be considerate and let smaller groups or persons "play through"... it is a BIG course and has room for everyone to play at their own pace. Overall, WILCO is a great course addition to the Central Texas area and good for Williamson County. It is a course that the parks department takes care of and takes seriously... we all should also, so it will be around for years to come. Now stop reading about it and go PLAY IT!

This park nearly has it all. About the only thing they don't have that would make it the Has Everything park is a swimming pool. They do have a splash pad area but it isn't the same as a pool--you know what I mean. Great soccer and football fields. Super tennis courts. Cricket fields (I can't vouch for how good they are but they're frequently being used). Very nice bathroom facilities. And the greenbelt, hiking area is great. Some established trails but plenty of room to go off-trail and enjoy some solitude. Quite a few geocaches placed in the park and those are fun to find. Very nice running trails as well. It goes on and on. The park is extensive and well maintained.

This a great place for the entire family. Basketball, Tennis, disc golf, softball, football, soccer, track, running, biking, hiking, nature trails, train rides - Oh My. Williamson County Parks and Recreation has outdone itself. Beautiful landscaping, great parking. There is even a Splash pad for the kiddos to cool off in. I walked my dog along the Jim Rodgers hiking trail and found a fawn sleeping in the grass. There is 800 acres dedicated to this park to view more info here on my Hubpage blog post http://hub.me/afshY

I've been here for track meets, a 5k trail run (Blue Dog Rescue), and now soccer practices. What a great community park.

Garey Park is an absolute gem!…read more We celebrated my son's birthday at Garey Park a couple of months ago, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we booked to the minute we packed up, everything was smooth, easy, and honestly kind of perfect. The park is stunning and has so much to do. So much space, beautiful scenery, and tons of options for kids to run wild . My son had the best time celebrating with his friends. Between the playground, splash pad, and shaded picnic areas, the kids were entertained the entire time. No one was bored, not even for a second. There's something really special about this place. It feels like you're in the middle of nature but with all the modern conveniences nearby. It made the whole party feel relaxed and joyful.

Those fees help maintain this BEAUTIFUL park, which offers tons of activities for families with kids and dogs. The bathrooms were quite clean and stocked with toilet paper. The playground was filled with kids having a great time. We enjoyed walking the trails along the San Gabriel River, and our dogs had a blast! They even have horseback riding and zip lines, along with numerous trails to explore! We've visited free dog parks throughout Austin, Leander, and Cedar Park, and they often end up neglected and trashy! I completely understand why they want to keep this place clean and welcoming!

You can also walk on the unpaved trail along the water (it's very smooth and stroller-friendly). There is a playground. It's split into two areas for different ages. It's great in theory but I found it a bit lacking. There's a rudimentary playground that's labeled as 2-5. And a crunk playground (3-tiered, with gnarly slides) labeled as 5-12. Don't get me wrong -- this big playground is awesome for older kids. But it's a bit too advanced/scary for a 3-year-old. Meanwhile, the little playground was too simple/easy for her. So there's a middle age that isn't really catered to. But, great for 2-year-olds and 5+. There are also multiple parks with playgrounds within a short driving distance (Champion, Olson Meadows) so you can easily park hop.

The splash pad has a dedicated fenced in area for the water fun, and a nice grassy area with tables and seating. Perfect for a picnic! I love taking walks with my daughters along the lake, admiring the views and enjoying the wildlife. If you're adventurous you can rent a canoe or kayak from the boathouse and take it out onto the lake as well. This park is a beautiful place to spend time on a weekend!
