    Trail in the beginning
    Nicole R.

The 3 stars is for the trail. The playscape gets 5 stars. The trail is beautiful and very shaded. There is a creek that runs along side of it but im not sure of the cleanliness of it so I wouldnt personally mess with it. The trail is easy and paved or dirt road. Some parts are rocky on the path. My complaint is that there is a section of the path where you smell a strong odor of sewage. The smell is in the air for about 30 seconds which isn't a lot but it's very strong and I imagine it would smell worse in the heat of the summer. But other then that, the fact that is shaded is great for those Texas summers. It's a great park for elementary age kids with a beautiful playscape.

It is now open again after some downtime due to reconstruction. What an awesome park for the kiddos. There's a huge playscape cover that offers plenty of shade. This will be a great option in the summer. Lots to do and very thought out. Even the drive in was pretty. If you like taking your kids to the park, this is one of the best out there

Ask the Community - Trailhead Park

Is this playscape more for elementary school aged kids or would a small toddler enjoy as well?

My daughter is 21 months old and was able to climb on the stairs to slide down the slides. It's a little advanced but still fun for my daughter.

Lots for the kiddos to do, and a nice pavilion for the adults to hang!

Stretching along Shoal Creek, the park offers a mix of shaded walking and biking trails, open lawns, and beautifully restored natural areas. It is hard to believe when you are in the park that you are in the heart of central Austin. The park is especially family friendly, with a large playground, splash pad, treehouse style observation area, and plenty of seating. While we were at the park a school was hosting a picnic for its students. The northern portion of the park is even more quiet and scenic, with winding trails, limestone bluffs, and creek views. It's a great area for dog walks, leisurely strolls, picnics, workouts, or just relaxing under the trees. The park is well maintained and welcoming to all ages. This park is very special.

The stream nearby adds a peaceful touch, and the overall design of the park feels really intentional and creative. Kids will go crazy for the massive playground and all the interactive installations. The hanging net sphere is a must, you can lie inside and bounce around, and honestly the adults were just as into it as the little ones. There are also food vendors including ice cream, so you can easily spend a whole afternoon here. One of the most well-done parks I've been to. Highly recommend.

There are chimes to sound and drums to play, The children really enjoyed this area. They had a zip line made for children. My four-year-old granddaughter was enjoying it and after her, some 13-year-olds were enjoying it. It's very well-made, very safe and very fun. They have a shopping area for them to pretend -- along with their own personal H-E-B! My granddaughter really enjoyed pretending to shop. I think that's a secret word here, there's a lot of pretending going on here! I highly recommend this park. It's important to know that animals are not allowed unless it's a service animal. There's a lot of kids running and yelling and playing and laughing. This is not the place for you if you're going to a park to read a book.
