A scenic view of Lake Georgetown with calm water, grassy shores, and a bright blue sky, captured from a roadside vantage point.

We love to do family runs here. We started just shy of 2 years ago, and now that our family has grown, all 3 little ones know this place well. We run up top, and the kids can bike. Plus the view of the water keeps them motivated!

Low rating only because it was so difficult to hike. *Crockett Gardens Trail* This trail was so difficult to enjoy because it was so rocky. My first visit here I was warned by one of the park employees that it was known as the "ankle breaking trail". He ensured I was wearing proper shoes as many people have fallen due to the rockiness of the hike. The end goal was breath taking - the waterfall which has now collapsed - but the whole trip there was almost unbearable. You really MUST come prepared in proper shoes or I'm very positive you will twist your ankle. I disliked this trail because I felt like I could never look around while walking. Not really sure what fun it would be when you no longer get to reach a waterfall anymore.

this is a beautiful lake. however the water level is significantly low from its past mark several ft above. there are not many designated beaches. there is a very long path going around the whole lake. some boats. pretty.

Beautiful lake 30-45 minute drive from Austin. There's nothing much to do in Georgetown, but I would drive the distance just to come to this natural gem. Perfect day getaway, spot for picnics, day camping, and family gatherings. Jetskis and boats are welcome on the lake. Plenty of pavilions and grills for picnics and barbecue. If you like hiking, there are miles of trails surrounding the lake too. Admission is $5 per vehicle, but if you have the state park pass this park is also included in the pass for admission. The water here is so blue and there's plenty of wildflowers that grow along the lake. Swimming is allowed, but at your own risk. Plenty of families brought inflatables and had their fun in the sun. Currently, due to COVID-19 they do not allow night stays in their campgrounds. There are a good number of people who visit here on weekends, but there's plenty of parking and space available for you to maintain many yards of distance.

CROCKETT GRADEN FALLS This trail is a great for beginners or really anyone. It's know for the beautiful falls you can hike to. To get there it takes about 4 ish miles ( worth it) and don't forget you have to go back. But the trail has hills , rocks , and shade. Now I believe the whole trail is miles on miles. You can do that if you like. People here also ride bikes so just watch out for that but normally it's not really busy.

My boyfriend and I came here with a boxer that we were taking care of temporarily, and we enjoyed it overall! The water felt nice, there are shaded bench areas with grass to have a get together or have a picnic, and the sunsets are beautiful when in the water or if you're watching from the right side of the entire lake. I will say, this place was marketed to me as dog friendly, but most of the lake doesn't have a shoreline, it is just steep rock that you have to maneuver down, then it's solely rock until you get in the water, and the rocks will seize to hurt your foot after you get to the point in the lake where you can't reach the bottom. There are places for dogs to comfortably roam and do their business, but the water could be a bit of a complication if you have a nervous dog or one that is iffy about water. The rocky shore definitely hurt our feet quite a bit. Otherwise, there aren't really cons!

Overlook Park is an area off of Lake Georgetown, a manmade lake which offers swimming, boating, and fishing. The view is quite nice, and the water is pleasant and warm. During the summer months a lot of water evaporates, uncovering rocky outcroppings that you can walk down and sunbathe on. Overall I would recommend this park, however there are a couple caveats which should be seriously considered. The parking situation is bad. There are like 10 spots? Then a ~quarter mile up there are maybe 10 or so more. If these spots are all occupied, you have to walk over from the nearby police station which is a pain in the ass. I haven't been during the summer in several years until today, when I went with my wife. We were expecting to have a relatively relaxing picnic, followed by a casual dip in the lake. We were greeted with the rocky outcropping completely teeming with drunk teenagers. It seems like Overlook Park is the place to be during summer for all the high schoolers from Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Leander, Burnet and so on. What was crazy was how brazen the drinking was, and the fact that the average age seemed to be like 16 years old. No 20 year olds, no families. We felt a bit out of place, to say the least. I think for the first time in my life I felt old. It also made me feel a bit skeezy, listening to a bunch of half naked children talk about who they fucked / want to fuck / wants to fuck them / how much they want to fuck. While we were there some firemen arrived and carted off two passed-out teens on stretchers. A Wilco PD officer was coordinating with the firemen. When I first saw the police officer there I was expecting to see a bunch of arrests. I guess Wilco PD has mellowed out a lot in the last few years. In summary I would recommend coming to this park either during spring or fall when the kids are in school and not drinking White Claws everywhere. Unless you are a 16 year old party animal, in which case this is the place to be.

Hubby and I were invited to join some friends at Lake Georgetown for some camping and swimming. We stayed one night and had a great time. A lot is provided for you at the campsite. They have little pavilions with concrete foundations at each campsite. Nearby was a water source and outlets for electrical connections. We pitched two tents and there was plenty of room. There are two showers and two bathroom stalls in the restrooms and they were very clean and close to the campsite. This location seems to have a lot of land to provide for many outdoor activities including hiking. They also have an area for fishing , boats ‍ & swimming ‍ with space for lots of groups. I recommend this place for some outdoor fun and if you happen to have forgotten something there are stores nearby.

There are multiple parks at Lake Georgetown; we went to Russell Park based on locals' recommendation. A really nice place to go swimming, although after 11 it does get quite busy. If you want a covered picnic table, I'd recommend getting here before 9:30 (weekends/holidays) because they get taken fast. There are also some nice fishing spots if you walk right of the swimming area--a bit rocky, so watch your step. Shore leading up to the water is gravel.

Georgetown is a very unassuming and quiet town North of Austin. Between you and me, there isn't a whole lot to do there. That being said, it does have one marvelous little gem called Lake Georgetown. The blue lake, its surrounding fields and hiking trails is a charming little spot if you're looking for a quiet time in nature, alone or with friends. A few minimalist shelters providing relief from the hot Texan sun are also sparsely located along the shores. Boating and swimming seem to be popular activities, however with the latter, it is strongly encouraged to stay near the shore and to wear a life vest as there are no lifeguards. Swim at your own risk! Because 2016 saw more rain than usual, the concrete deck overlooking the lake was partially flooded when I visited a few days ago. I still proceeded to remove my shoes and walk in the foot-high water until the railings, enjoying the unique immersive experience of seemingly walking on the lake's swollen water. Lake Georgetown is in my humble opinion the best this town has to offer and a recommended stop if you happen to visit the area!

We got to go jet skiing it was super fun and the water was a little bit rocky but we had water shoes so it protects our fet In the water is super cold but you get used to it and what I love but the water is there's no big fish that harm you it's just little tiny mini fish.

This hike is ideal for anybody who has a love for nature photography.

Lovely Park for hikers with beautiful views of the lake all the way around on the San Gabriel trail. The intensity level is moderate given a rolling landscape with places you need to watch footing due to rocky formations. You can enjoy endless hours of hiking around the lake with beautiful views. We saw a lovely variety of animal and insect life including clustered communities of butterflies. The plant and floral life are great showing promise of spectacular wildflower displays during this early spring. Part of the trail edges up next to private property where you can see iconic Texas longhorns lazily graze on a sunny day. There are beautiful sites including a small waterfall. This hike is ideal for anybody who has a love for nature photography. Peaceful and beautiful hike, I'll be back...

I have been taking advantage of the nice Fall weather and heading out to the trails of Georgetown in the evenings after work. Yesterday, I started out from Overlook Park and hiked across the dam and over to the south side of the lake. I have also hiked down the dam and over to Booty's Road Park. These portions of the trail are paved and make good paths for biking or rollerblading. I have seen deer, birds and armadillos so far while trekking through these woods. Apparently the US Army Corps of Engineers maintains these trails and there are a series of trails that makes an entire loop around Lake Georgetown. Plenty to explore as long as the weather stays nice.

You can also walk on the unpaved trail along the water (it's very smooth and stroller-friendly). There is a playground. It's split into two areas for different ages. It's great in theory but I found it a bit lacking. There's a rudimentary playground that's labeled as 2-5. And a crunk playground (3-tiered, with gnarly slides) labeled as 5-12. Don't get me wrong -- this big playground is awesome for older kids. But it's a bit too advanced/scary for a 3-year-old. Meanwhile, the little playground was too simple/easy for her. So there's a middle age that isn't really catered to. But, great for 2-year-olds and 5+. There are also multiple parks with playgrounds within a short driving distance (Champion, Olson Meadows) so you can easily park hop.

If you're adventurous you can rent a canoe or kayak from the boathouse and take it out onto the lake as well. This park is a beautiful place to spend time on a weekend!
