Lorie is an amazing. She cares not only for her dogs but for every dog that she looks after. It is a truly great place to leave your cavalier King Charles Spaniel there. This camp is great. Convenient bus pick up. All day camp with varied activities. Not outrageously priced.

I cannot say enough good things about this camp. Both my 8 and 12-year-olds had a wonderful time. They made great friendships, bonded with the counselors, had an amazing time, and cannot wait to return next year. Oh, and they came home exhausted!! My daughter attended Spring Break camp last year and she eagerly asked me if she is returning this year and she most definitely is! We live south austin, and they have a pick up available to transport her so we don't have to drive all the way to round rock. I can make it to work on time and have peace of mind knowing she is having a blast! They remove all barriers for us She had a great time and I got to see her in action during parents day. This place was our savior during the summer of 2020!! We sent our daughter here after being home for months due to Covid quarantine and she desperately needed somewhere to go. Camp Doublecreek totally lived up to its reputation and delivered a fun-filled, safe, summer despite all the precautions. My daughter came home every day happy and exhausted! She couldn't stop talking about it. Camp Doublecreek literally saved our summer from being miserable and put some much needed joy back into our lives. This glowing recommendation for Camp Doublecreek is long overdue. The short version, my kid comes home full of smiles, talking nonstop about her day, singing songs from camp all night and eager to go back--everything I could hope for. She swims twice a day, horseback rides, plays sports, arts & crafts, archery etc. and has made great friends. We run into folks all around Austin throughout the year that she already knows because of this camp. It is amazing to see! She has gone the last four years and each year the activities advance with her and she is never bored. They also do an amazing job with the staff and it is so nice to see many of the same counselors year and year. I feel confident that she is being well taken care of and having a blast all summer! This year in particular, I feel grateful for this camp. Though the summer may look a little different and involve a lot more hand washing, the smiles have not faded, and she is still having an absolute blast!! read more

My kids (boy and girl) have gone here for 3 years, and they love it. One is outgoing and one is more reserved, and they both look forward to this camp each summer. Tip: You HAVE to sign your kids up for horseback riding. My kids talk about it all year long- they even remember the horse names, too. Also, if you have 4 and 5 year olds, request that they sit with a counselor on the bus. Mine were not used to not having a seat belt, but the counselors sat with them after we realized this and made the request. My kids also say they like archery, crafts and they loooooove the snacks. This is such a special, one-of-a-kind place. I'm so thankful it is near us! read more

Camp Doublecreek was wonderful! My kids loved it! It was high energy, old school fun! Archery, singing, capture the flag etc. The staff are AMAZING and very helpful. I felt that everyone working cared about my kiddos. The sugar was a concern, but as soon as I realized that I could ask counselors to limit sugar consumption, it was much better. read more

I really love this camp and the variety of things to do when attending. My biggest concern is the two daemons of summer, water and sun. I advised both my children that they needed to ensure they drank plenty of water, put on sunscreen, and wore swim shirts. I took the time to advise the camp that both my children are ADHD and very forgetful, that they will need constant reminders. I advised the camp of all the medications my children take and advised them of specific side effects I was concerned about, namely dehydration. The camp assured they would make a point of checking my children. I have treated both of my children for serious sunburns on their backs. I took one of my children to the hospital with pancreatitis due to dehydration making one of his medications not filtering through his body properly. He was in hospital for 4 days and required a full 5 bags of saline, a liquid diet, and constant daily testing to ensure his pancreas was not collapsing. End of day, I think mine is an extreme case, but I also feel that my warnings and requests needed more attention. The counselors are good folks, they have several people with good expertise in working with children, and the activities are amazing. The sheer variety of things to do at Doublecreek is perfect for a busy summer. read more

The registration process took too long (vaccination records, at least three peoples Driver's license numbers, etc). When I started, there were seven openings, and by the time I was done with registration, my daughter got in and my son was 4th on the waitlist. After calling, we were told he has little likelihood of getting in, so I'm out my $35 deposit and an hour of my time. read more

My kids loved this camp. The counselors keep them busy outside all day. They rotate through their activities with very little down time in between. I have sent them to camps that do that and see counselors chit chatting rather than interacting with the kids. You will not get that here. I love that the counselors are unplugged and are attentive to the kids. The counselors seem to have a good rapport with each other according to stories I hear. Half the fun is how the counselors make themselves the recipients of major self-deprecating silliness. The camp has been around forever and it is nice that those nice traditions that make the camp great lives on. At the end of the day at pick up, they are tired and exhausted but in a good way. The only downside is that they are outside all day. BRING a large insulated water cooler. read more

We are so happy that Camp Doublecreek was able to open this summer as many camps did not. This is the 2nd year my son has attended and his younger brother will follow next summer. After being stuck at home for months due to COVID, this camp gave my son the normalcy he needed. He is excited to go everyday and loves swimming, horseback riding, gun safety, arts and crafts, archery, making new friends and so much more. Our son is now 9 and has attended Camp Doublecreek for the past 3 years. During his 3rd year he was honored with a pretty Camp Doublecreek charm. He loved being recognized. Think of it as summer camp without the sleep over. Perfect for kids who want the camp experience but are anxious about sleeping away from home. Our son absolutely loves archery, swimming, gaga ball, and petting the animals they have at camp. He really enjoys the horseback riding lessons--Buba is his favorite horse. Your kids will absolutely love this day camp; mine does! You get your money's worth with the amount of activities they have and the fact that they have transportation sites all over Austin for your convenience! They have a wealth of resources for the kids to partake in such as swimming, archery, horse back riding lessons, gun safety, mini golf, paint ball, and the list goes on and on. My son comes home daily happy and thrilled with his day's events. I have always had a positive response from all the staff, and they have been nothing but professional when working with us. Also, they have a great online registration system that gives you all the necessary information, plus the ease of registering for everything without having to ever pick up the phone. I even had to change weeks that my son was attending and that was a breeze. My daugher has gone to this camp for one week each of the last three summers. When we talk about "camps," she states firmly that she will ONLY go to Camp Doublecreek - nothing else is good enough :) It's especially nice for our family since we live in California and my father and his wife live in Austin. My daughter can go to visit them for a week, but no one is overwhelmed by "what to do with a twelve year old" because she goes to camp during the day. This leaves enough time to enjoy each other in the evenings and for a weekend. The bus system is perfect since my dad (who's in his 70's) can drop her off at a stop near his home. My son would wake up at the first of the camp session and say he didn't want to go to camp he wanted to stay home and play wii all day. Now he loves it and can't wait to go back. He complained tonight he was sore from playing dodgeball... I consider a sore kid a happy and busy kid. He loves the horseback riding and other kids he has met there. read more

The horseback program was in great need of revision. When I was there they overworked these horses and didn't give them enough rest. You could see their hind legs dragging in the sand in the arena ! And there was a lot of junk food constantly available to the kids . read more

This is a wonderful summer camp. So many quality fun activities for kids to enjoy. My boys (7) come home every day from this camp happy and excited; they love it! I highly recommend the horse riding lessons, which they also love. As a parent, I like that the directors communicate, are well organized, and flexible when necessary.
