This has to be one of my most favorite hikes in the area. Plenty of shade, elevation, and scenery. This hike has a rough terrain, so be mindful of that when planning your trip. As the trail is unpaved, I would also be mindful of the weather within about seven days prior to your hike because it can get muddy. spotted beatutiful vegetation & wild life along the way. My family and I had an amazing time camping at Cedar Breaks Park. We went camping over a weekend, but you have the option to visit for the day as well. It's not too far of a drive from Austin. The campsite is clean and spacious. There are grills, fire pits, picnic tables, and running water at each camp site. There are tons of hiking options within walking distance. It's right by Lake Georgetown and has great views. Restrooms are clean and nearby the campsites. Every once in a while, it's great to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. I enjoyed how peaceful and serene this park is. read more

Located in Georgetown Tx right off the lake this camp/rv grounds boast electricity and water per area also included is a covered pavilion that provides shade and picnic tables. Check in is 3pm and check out is at 2pm. Pros-My first time here and camping since my Boy Scout days and I will say I highly enjoyed my stay here. The volunteers/host were so friendly and waved every time they drove past my site. Upon arriving at the gate no one was manning it but they have a board with your card sticker and name to put on your car so don't forget it before you enter the grounds. Very clean and quiet area and they have plenty of dumpsters nearby within walking distance for trash. Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures nor did I hike due to the rain and my love hate relationship with seeing any snakes which I didn't. I only saw turkey and deer which I did enjoy Cons- the bathroom could use some cleaning and sanitation but otherwise loved everything and I will be back! read more

A perfect Father's Day hike! Located in quaint, cute Georgetown, our planned hike took us around part of Lake Georgetown and to the main attraction, Crockett Garden Falls. A pre paid day pass costed $5. Plenty of parking. Signage was a problem, there's none lol on the trail. We used All Trails and a handy tech gadget to guide us. The trail to the falls was quite nice - Mostly shaded by surrounding trees, some muddy areas, hiked up to the edge of the lake where we watched many jet skiers and boaters having a blast. Once you're near the Falls, signage points towards the direction to walk - an upper and a lower trail. We took the lower trail and it was in great need of clearance, very overgrown. The falls were pretty. Not what I expected, but I appreciate anything nature related. I would describe it as an opening to a cave, beautiful plant life or ? moss over hung the top, and small waterfalls abound trickling cool refreshing water. Great way to cool down after the hike and be aware the wet rock was slippery...wear shoes that has a good bottom grip. All in all the loop hike was about 5 miles. Well worth it! We camped here for a night, and I loved our lakeside campsite. The trailhead to Crockett Garden Falls is close by. The round trip to the falls was around 5.5 miles. The waterfalls were pretty. The restrooms at the campsite were clean, but there was no soap, which was really disappointing because every campsite I've been to that had sinks/plumbing has had soap. There was no soap dispenser at all, so it was clear that they just never have soap. We had all the amenities of a developed campsite, including a water spout, fire pit, grill, and electric hookup. The reservation for each campsite was $30/night, and we got two parking spots for each. The raccoons got some of our food overnight, so we should've been proactive about safe food storage. read more

GREAT hiking trails that overlook the beautiful lake Georgetown. We did the hike the Crockett Garden Falls to see the waterfall which was beautiful to see. All in, it's about a 6+ mile hike round trip, but so worth it. We used the AllTrails app to do some other exploring, but the hiking itself around the lake for this trail wasn't super difficult . Wear some good hiking shoes, bring snacks and water, and enjoy the natural beauty of this place. There are some spots along the cliffs you can sit and relax and get a gorgeous view of the lake. Parking is super easy, it's $5 per car. There's also a spot outside of the parking gate where people were parking so we used that and walked right in to save a few bucks. Definitely recommend visiting and going for a nice hike when the weather is good! read more

We attempted to hike at this park but in order to have free parking for the park you have to hike up the road to get in the park and then walk to the trail. When we got there it was covered in loose rocks which made it too rough for me to walk upwards for very far. I'm sure it's great if you can get farther but sadly I couldn't get that far. I'm wondering if there was more than one trail or if we went in the wrong way. read more

Highly recommend CBP for camping, hiking and swimming, especially if you live in the Austin area. It's so close and beautiful! My friends and I had a wonderful experience camping here for a weekend. They have pergolas with a picnic table, water spouts, electricity hookups, a grill & fire pit. Also lots of trees, perfect for hammocks with shade. It was a 5 minute walk to the water from our campsite (#8). The check in and out process was very easy. It's gated, which is nice because that means people aren't coming in and out all day and night who aren't supposed to be there. The campground/lake is in town if you need to run to the store for items you forgot...it's definitely a hidden oasis! Can't wait to go back! read more

I had wanted to hike to Crockett Gardens Falls for quite some time and a warm Christmas Day presented the perfect opportunity. The hike is a pleasant one and quite good for beginners. It's got some terrain shift, some uphill/downhill stretches and the reward at the end is spectacular. Do know that you have to cross a creek and be prepared with your footwear. read more

3 family members hiked the Crockett Gardens Trail as far as the falls, about 5.2 miles round trip from the trailhead. We arrived around 8:30 am on a Sunday morning and were told by an attendant that the lot nearest the trailhead was full so parked down the road. Truth was, the lot wasn't full at that time, but by 11 am or so when we left, there were far more cars in the 3 parking areas. The trail is rocky and up and down in places, with loads of igneous rocks. Fortunately, much of the trail is shady in the morning but I'd suggest avoiding this hike on hot and humid days. A mile or so into the hike, Lake G'Town is visible off to the right. There are some nice viewpoints just off the path, great for selfies. As you get close to the falls, there's a rock wall with a sign pointing to the right. That part of the path is smooth but rather overgrown (at least in August). The "falls" are a rock overhang with beautiful green ferns and dripping water. Be careful venturing under that overhang, as the rock is quite slippery. The area is beautiful for photos with the dripping water and greenery, and part of the lake in the background. We didn't continue past the falls, but the trail goes down a bit farther to the lake edge. While this isn't a particularly strenuous hike, there are a couple of more demanding stretches. There are a few benches along the path. Do wear sturdy shoes, bring a decent amount of drinking water and perhaps a towel if you plan to get wet. read more

If in the Round Rock/Georgetown area then is is a great place to go and decompress! The hike is not strenuous and you get nice peaceful views! The waterfall at the end coming from the ends of the leaves just makes it even more poetic! It has become one of my favorite places to go. read more

Great spot if you're looking for an easy ~5-mile hike (probably more aptly named a "walking trail" than a "hike"). Good for all difficulty levels and mostly shaded. However, there is minimal signage about where to go, so we got a little turned around at first trying to find our way to Crockett Gardens Falls. I wore waterproof hiking boots, which came in handy for the rocky spots and water-covered destination. read more

There is a lot to be said about resort style parks BUT, if you're looking for peace and quiet, absolutely beautiful sites surrounded by many, many trees, (and in this park we have a view of the lake too), Cedar Breaks Army Corp of Engineers Parks near Georgetown fit the bill! I want to share that every staff member we have had interactions with has been very nice and very helpful. Dustin in particular stands out. He gave us great information, and answered my multitude of questions. I had to chuckle when he hesitated to ask if we were over 62, so he could inform us about the National Parks Pass which gives you FREE entrance to all Federal properties. We advised that we had had one for years but it hadn't clicked that ACOE parks were included. Having that pass also means 50% off camping sites. Amazing!!! Obviously, he hadn't wanted to offend us, on the off chance we didn't meet that criteria. He helped us reserve a site and gave us a map of the campgrounds, and the hiking trails. It was a very pleasant experience. This park has automatic gates that are coded for the safety of the campers. It also offers 30 and 50 Amp electricity. Hook up for water. No sewer but a dump station you are welcome to use. Facilities for showering and restrooms are also available. Something else we have not had the pleasure of finding at the campsite-every picnic table had a concrete slab under it and a wooden patio cover over it! Keeping you out of direct sun for your dining, cards or board games or even conversation. Every site has a place to have a campfire when allowed and since we often have drought conditions and winds in this area, it's best to check at the guard station. Each site has a nice, good size charcoal grill, too. With all the natural ground cover and trees there is the possibility of mosquitoes so pack some environmentally /human safe mosquito spray. There is also a boat ramp, and fishing dock. You are allowed 2 vehicles per site but if you need more room there is ample overflow parking. You are allowed to have up to 8 people at your site including day guests. I think guests may need a pass or can pay the day rate but I'm not positive so be sure to ask. Last but not least several camp sites have lake views and it's nice that there is fencing between designated paths down to the lake. The grounds are mowed up to the fence line and then slope gently down to the lake. They are left natural protecting the habitat of whatever lives there. If you enjoy primitive camping or bring along a luxurious Class A RV or have somewhere in between that- you will find camping here a very pleasant experience!! read more

I stayed here for four nights while attending the 20th anniversary annual meeting of the Texas Master Naturalists. I had made my reservation long before watching the viral video of a lady at the gate who seemed a little crazy. Let me tell you, she is no longer there. There was a woman at the gate house during my stay who was as nice and friendly as you could ask for. I stopped and chatted with her for a minute or two every time I passed through. She answered all my questions and asked me how my stay was going every time. I was in site #46. This was in an area of the loop that did not have a direct view of the lake. I did not mind that at all. A short 100 yard stroll down the road, was all it took to see the lake in all its glory. The pay off for my area was a larger and more private area. The site was completely level and heavily shaded. I was very happy with it. The park is very well maintained. I liked the way the camping loop is protected by a second coded gate. Only campers can't get in. That makes it much more peaceful. At some parks, there is a constant vehicular flow as people just drive the loop to check it out. I hiked about three miles of the trail- enough to get to the spectacular cliff-like views of the lake. Part of the trail was underwater due to the heavy rains we experienced in Texas for several weeks. The days of my visit to the park were the first sunny days we had seen in a LONG time. The fishing piers were also under water. I would have liked to have walked out onto one of them. Maybe next time. I want to add that, since I was there for a convention, most of my time was spent at the Sheraton hotel conference center. It was a 10 minute drive from my camp site. Cedar Breaks is very conveniently located close to I-35. Depending on what time of day you need to travel, it would be a good homebase for a visit to the Austin area as well. read more

Went camping here from from Friday - Saturday. It was my first time camping and it was a great experience! Since it was my first time camping, I wasn't really sure what to expect. According to the family I was with, the camp site was small compared to other campsites they have been to. Each site comes with parking that can accommodate 4 vehicles, 2 power outlets, park table with bench, and park grill. Their are restrooms located within the site each having 3 toilets and 2 showers. The hiking trail was nice and simple. The people we met on the trail were also very nice! There is a quaint waterfall at the end which was small, but my friends and I still enjoyed it. Rules: each campsite was supposed to only be limited to 8 people. They reserved 2 sites (16 people max) but there were about 25 of us. Though this rules was easy to bend, there are rules that they are particular about: 1. 10:00pm is the latest someone can check in 2. Only 4 vehicles on each site & on the pavement NOT the grass. Overall very nice and relaxing experience, would definitely visit again! read more

Super easy online reservation, fair price for day use. Easy check in at front entrance They have hike trials,fishing locations and docking for water sports. (If your going to camp by the lake view just know you will hear boats blasting music) Just until boat dock closes they do patrol area at night. Otherwise peaceful and the campsites are fairly away from each other. Our experience was pleasant everyone was respectful of nature and polite of surroundings. They do not sell firewood onsite but we seen a location upon entrance where they sell firewood. front attendance said we could pick up dead wood loose on park. Thankfully our sites previous campers paid it forward we had plenty so we paid it forward. Bathrooms were fairly clean it's the outdoors experience free showers no coins needed. The lake views was majestic catch the sunrise & sunset. Future plans for another trip for sure. read more

Every time I come to cedar breaks some grumpy old man is rude and are completely unaccommodating as if you're invading THERE space don't come here if you hate feeling like you are staying the week with your parents. We got to the park early. As people do because our drive was shorter than expected and they told me without any resolution I needed to leave until it was time to check in. So I'm supposed to sit outside the park for four hours while I wait for my spot instead of using the overflow lot like they told me to last time I was here? Why do these people with bad attitudes about their job even work in a place where they have to interact with customers. This is a lovely park hidden away very close to austin. It has a mix of sites on open ground or heavily wooded with cedar trees. There is a large boat ramp and two fishing docks, but there is no water access for swimming. Restrooms are nice and clean, the camp attendant is super friendly and helpful. This park is great for winter camping, wild deer will come in at sunset, good fire rings, 50amp service, day camping is also supported, each site has a picnic table and large shelter. Downtown georgetown is just 15 minutes away but you wouldn't know it. read more

Cedar Breaks Park is a beautiful park on a bluff overlooking Lake Georgetown on the south shore. I have only visited this park for the hiking trails, cliff diving and swimming and it is a great place to do all those things. But, if camping is your thing I am sure it is a great place for that too as I've seen lots of RVs, there are showers a boat ramp and fishing docks. If you are only hiking or swimming tell them at the gate and they will not charge you the camping or boat ramp fee. The last time I visited this park a friend lead us to a hidden spring fed waterfall that I did not know of - absolutely amazing and a cold relief in the July heat. From the parking area it is about a 1.5 mile hike to the cliffs for diving or jumping in. FYI: the guy at the gate said to be sure and keep our dogs on a leash as a dog had recently been bitten by a rattle snake so keep an eye out for snakes. If only I lived closer I would practically live here. read more

I went to Cedar Breaks in early November. The weather was perfect, I stayed at a nearby hotel and went hiking on Saturday and Sunday. I did 2 hours on Saturday, stopped to take pictures, etc. and on Sunday, I hiked for 4 hours. Did the 3 mile and back. Stopped for rest, pictures, etc. After about a mile of hiking, you are overlooking Lake Georgetown and the view is absolutely amazing and beautiful. The whole hike was serene and helped you fully be in nature and get away from the chaos of life. read more

This is a great park & perfect for a long weekend. The patio shelter (at each site) was awesome & totally necessary on the last day as we got DRENCHED! We tent camped & the space is ample! You can drink openly & our well behaved dog was unleashed but next to us w/o so much as a stare from the campsite host. (That doesn't happen at a TX State Park.) 2 little beefs - which is why this park isn't 5 stars - the bathrooms could've been cleaned throughout the weekend. That I can deal with, however the sinks are dinky. We're talking RV- dinky which makes for a challenge when brushing teeth & washing face. Oh & no hooks anywhere around the sink for your towel or makeup bag (why am I wearing makeup whilst camping?!) For that reason, it seems this park caters to RV'ers who have their own facilities. Lastly, I'd wished you could access the lake front a bit easier. It's a pretty rocky cliff in most areas, though our dog did manage to get down there w/o issues, leaving her old-out of shape owner to scale the cliff to get her! All in all, we loved it & would definitely revisit... read more

My husband and pup went for a hike today and it was fantastic! It is a bit rocky, but our dog loved it. I would recommend hiking shoes because my husband and I were slipping and tripping on the rocky terrain with our sneakers. Even though it was one of the hottest months of the year, you really didn't feel it because most of the trail is shaded. We did go to the waterfall, which is closer to 3 miles from the hiking parking lot. We went out there around 9 and finished around 12 with some swimming time allowed for the pup. Overall, it was fantastic but the trail that connect to the waterfall is a bit rough and not well defined. read more

The park is beautiful, and the lake is so clean! The staff is also very friendly. My only complaint is the restrooms are in bad shape, and need a deep cleaning. We camped in a RV, so we were able to avoid using the showers (womens had wolf spiders as well as other bugs) and smelled very badly of urine as soon as you entered the building. read more
