This is a relaxing bit of park a short drive from Austin. Came here with the bf early Sunday afternoon for a bit of fishing and grilling. Just $5 for our car to get it in, and we quickly found a spot right next to the lake. It was just noon, so it wasnt too crowded which was perfect for us. Grills, benches and some cover were provided so we quickly got ourselves set up. It was late for fishing (just before noon) but we still brought our lines. Unfortunately the ramp to get to the fishing dock was completely submerged with all the rain we've gotten lately, so we had to wade out to it. (We could manage since we're both over six feet tall, but it would have been a swim for anyone else). The rangers havent lifted that ramp at all so that was a downer and the reason for stars off. Multiple people approached the ramp and seeing it's state turned away, and we talked to one couple that stated they'd tried all the others and they were all in the same condition. Also, the area leading into the water was not cleared at all. It was just brush, and immediately water with no in-between ground to wade in. Those complaints aside, this is actually a nice little park. Camping sites and hiking available, though we did neither. This is a popular destination for day trips to swim in the water or take a boat, kayak or jet skis out for a turn. By the time we left about 3pm the area was getting downright packed with people doing all of those things. Overall it was a nice getaway and I'll definitely be back. read more

I just went here for a hike yesterday and it was great! I did read about it being rocky so the dogs staid home. Boy I'm glad they did. It really was a hike and not a walk and extremely rocky. It is about 2.5 miles to the waterfall which is totally worth it. It is something that my family will do again after we get some better hiking shoes. read more

Update: finally was able to go camping back in November here at Cedar Breaks. The site we had came with the parking spot, covered picnic area (with convenient hooks to hang everything on, a bench and a little top where we put our stove), a fire ring, electricity and water. Behind the covered picnic area it was nicely wooded but with a nice opening for our tent. This was some pretty good camping but keep in mind there are definitely lots of raccoons and they are far from afraid. We had all of our food in the car and 3 of them came within ten feet of us and one tried to crawl into our tent. But hey that's part of sleeping among wildlife just remember to put your food up! read more

This park definitely has a lot to offer; camping, fishing, boating (bring your own), hiking, swimming, cliff jumping and beach hanging! They seem to be reasonably dog friendly. The signs say dogs must be leashed. Ours were until we let them swim in the lake. The views off the trails are breathtaking. I have no interest in jumping off of them but if that's your thing this is the place. -1 star for the $4.00 entrance fee. For people who want to go walk around. I can't see regularly visiting Cedar Breaks Park when there are so many lovely parks that we can visit for free. read more

Great place for a quick getaway weekend. It's nice, clean and quiet place. The bathroom was clean. I recommend booking in advance as this place fills up by the weekend. I was pleasantly impressed that people picked up after themselves and leaving the area nice and clean for the next RV. I'll definitely be going back. read more

Our frst time here and we will definitely be back! It's so close for a quick weekend camping trip! The park is beautiful, serene and very clean! Our campsite was perfect, overlooking the lake. The picnic table pavilions are a nice touch for shade protection and from rain. Each campsite is affordable for $26 a night! They are equipped with water and electric hookups as well as a charcoal grill and firepit. You can also bring your furry friends as long as you keep them on a leash. read more

Scenic state of the art campsites for RVs. Many have spectacular views of Lake Georgetown. Lady at the gatehouse and volunteer staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Very pet friendly. We stayed there two times on this trip and a total of eight nights. All were enjoyable. The Corp of Engineers did a fine job with this park. Thank you. read more

Back again for a quick weekend camping trip. For a last minute getaway, that isn't very far away, this place rocks! Cedar Breaks is a developed Army COE campground located on Lake Georgetown. It has 64 campsites with water and electric hook-ups. No sites with sewer are available at any of the developed campgrounds on Lake Georgetown. Cedar Breaks offers large sites with paved parking pads. The pads are generally level left to right, but can vary greatly front to back. Every site offers 30 amp and 50 amp electric service and most are very well shaded with oak trees and, of course, cedar trees. Most sites are heavily wooded and very private. Each site also has a large picnic table that will comfortably seat 8 people. The tables sit on concrete pads and all are covered with large, substantial covers. The covers are wooden structures with shingled roofs and includes a railing for serving on one side. Each site has a fire pit and a nice BBQ grill. The fire rings and grills are cleaned up by the staff after each stay. Cedar Breaks sits up on a bluff, which makes the lake inaccessible from most campsites. The few sites that have water views are up high with steep, rock slopes to the water, making it difficult to get to. There is a swim beach and a day use area, it just isn't convenient to the campsites, themselves. With the drought conditions in central Texas, the lack of swim beach is even more obvious. The fishing piers and piers to tie up boats for launching are all sitting on dry land right now, though the boat ramp is still operational. I am giving Cedar Breaks 4 stars. The sites are fantastic and the scenery is hard to beat. The park is well maintained with reasonable park bath houses. Drawbacks that I see include the lack of sewer connections in the campsites, poor water access from the campground and the "one holer" dump station. If you are departing on a Sunday morning, be prepared for a line at the dump station. We pulled out around noon on Sunday, and we had 4 campers ahead of us in line. Still, all things considered, this campground is SO close to us that it is hard to beat. The price is very reasonable ($24 per night for camping) and are literally 5 minutes from an HEB and a few more minutes to the Wal-Mart, Target and many other shops and restaurants of the Wolf Ranch area in GTown. read more

I came here for a hike and greatly enjoyed the trail. I did not camp or swim here since we were only here for a few hours. The trail is a bit rocky, so just make sure you wear adequate hiking shoes. We brought our two dogs and now wish we had little booties for them. As you get about 2.5 miles in, the trail gets less rocky and has more prickly burrs that kept getting stuck in their paws. The hidden waterfall is a nice little respite, but again, warning for your dogs, there's an entire field of burrs in the same area. Other than that, great for humans of all ages! Nice little benches at select break areas/vista points. There is an entry fee for campers/boaters, but if you're just hiking for the day, tell the entry gate and they won't charge you. read more

I was tent camping and picked a great site for it. Not all the sites there are smooth for tents but most are fine. Lots of RVs there to. Restrooms / showers are clean. There are hiking trails but they are not a loop that leads you back to your start point. No an great place for swimming but a very nice campground. It also is very close to HEB if you forget something (2 miles) or if you feel like driving in for dinner. I will for sure go there again. read more

I showed up close to gate closing time (6:45-7PM), but contacted the ranger station before hand. They explained they would let the park hosts know I would BE THERE close to 7PM. When I arrived the older male host (60'-early 70's) told me he's already shut everything down (barely 7 PM) and the sites are full. (They were not fully occupied - I checked before going). There were two park hosts, male and female both older. Wish I had gotten their names. After mentioning I had called the ranger station and confirmed my arrival he became kinda frantic, huffing, puffing & stumbling on his words about trying to close and get out of there for the night, and condescendingly asking "if I wanted a site OR NOT?!". I said no, told him he was being rude and began to back out, he then started back pedaling and apologizing, chose my site for me, #1. Clearly they were not occupied, as I was literally the single only person there out of the 41 available sites. RUDE and unwelcoming, save your money, energy and camp anywhere else. Cedar Breaks doesn't provide ground fire pits, nor did my site (#1) have a clearing for any tents. Seems like he was trying to turn me away to avoid writing up one more reservation for the night. I'm 29 years old, and a pleasant, friendly person. No reason for him to treat me like he did, I almost went for my money back the next morning, but it just wouldn't have been worth the effort. Avoid this park, I won't be going back unless this duo is gone. read more

Baller cliff jumping, it was about 65 feet, andI had a boat come measure the depth with a depth finder and it was 31 ft deep. if it looks steeper than 65 feet take the time to wave someone over to find the depth cause the last thing you want to do is jump into something where the water is to shallow and paralyze yourself and drown. read more

This is one of my favorite places to hike in the Austin area! The terrain is pretty diverse and there are plenty of resources along the trail since the trail hits so many parks. I still haven't managed to do the 28 mile loop in one day, but that is my goal! I also want to come camp here soon! If you enjoy endless trails to explore, this is a great place! Sometimes I hike from cedar breaks to camp tejas or go the other direction and end up at camp russel (if you go with a friend and take another car you can get an epic day hike in without having to turn back). read more
