Like all the other campsites around Georgetown Lake the check in and out times remain the same 3pm check in and 2pm check out. These sites also come with running water and electricity, as a reminder be sure to grab your parking pass on the way in and stick it on your windshield. Pros-I rented campsite #32 and I was beyond satisfied. Steps away from the lake and seeing all the boaters and water skiing going on was awesome. My campsite had its own path down to the lake so it was such easy access. The camp host or volunteers were very nice and would wave while driving by making me feel very much at home. I went during the wk so it was peace and quiet a great get away if you want to just leave the hustle and grind of everyday city life. Cons- when rented a site close to the water keep in mind the wind conditions, shouldn't be an issue if you are coming with an RV but I had a tent and it was extremely windy sometimes blowing my belonging off the pavilion table. No question about it I will be returning again soon! read more

Been out here many times and have had a great time each visit. Park is clean and at a good cost. Come out into nature!

This was a very nice campground with large sites and covered pavilions. We didn't get an opportunity to kayak due to the weather but it looked like a nice lake. I gave it only 3 stars because of the fact they allowed a very large gathering (70+ people) to take place at one of the campsites. They played loud music on professional DJ speakers and there was a lot of alcohol consumption and cars driving by. All these guests were also using the bathroom closest to our site and they obviously have issues with the septic. It was loud and smelly. read more

This campground was very clean, the sites are large, have concrete pads for your rv and vehicles, every table was covered! The campground has a coded gate to get in, also there is a boat ramp! I would recommend this campground if your in the area!! read more

My husband and I needed a day out from quarantine so we took our kayaks out to Jim Hogg Park on Lake Georgetown. There was free entry the day we went and there was easy access parking by the boat dock. We used the boat dock to unload the kayaks and spent a few hours kayaking the lake, which was simply beautiful. Would definitely recommend for boating, kayaking, fishing, and possibly camping. Even though we only saw the campsites from afar, they looked like a great place to camp. read more

Jim Hogg Park is located on Lake Georgetown and offers everything I love about the outdoors - hiking, picnicking, fishing, boating and opps for nature picture taking. The amenities include toilets, showers, fishing dock and boat ramp. They have around 150 camping sites and hookups and dumps but I have no experience with camping here. I do recommend Jim Hogg Park for a glimpse of "Outdoor Heaven" while hiking somewhere close to water so the pups and humans can take a dip and keep cool while exploring the outdoors in the triple digits - that is Texas summer Hell. read more

I really like going fishing here. I hadn't been in a while. We caught a few babies that we had to throw back. I've never really had any luck catching fish at this spot but it is a good spot. It gets crowded so come early if you're trying to fish from the bank. I will definitely be back to see if I can catch some more mature fish. read more

The campgrounds during the 4th of July weekend were crowded as hell. The restrooms were nasty and didn't flush. There are always park rangers driving making sure you are not parked on the grass. lol read more

Be warned that there are many loose dogs in the campgrounds. The rules regarding dogs off leash are not enforced. We have been here many times and have had issues with other loose dogs attacking our leashed dogs on every visit during our walk to the dumpsters. We will have to begin bringing some sort of protection from now on I guess. Kind of ruins the mood of camping though. read more

We camped at site 52 in our RV for two nights. Our site had a lake view and it was gorgeous! We really liked how all the sites had a covered picnic table area. It was also pretty quiet out here- we could not hear any road noise. The park has lake access and some parts of the lake are no-wake so it's really nice for a kayak or canoe. You can also fish here. There is one really long trail-26 miles. But it is the only trail in the entire park. I would have liked a few more options as far as trails are concerned but the one trail they have is very nice. read more

Went camping right next to the lake this weekend... great location depending on which campsite you choose. $24/night & if you have more than 2 cars, you'll be paying $4 each additional car. Each campsite has hookups for RVs, a shaded picnic table eating area, faucet, fire pit, and grill. Camp is locked after 10pm, so no going in/out after that. The campsites closer to the middle are further from the bathroom, but have a great view of the lake. Bathroom facilities were definitely not the best. No running faucet--- aka wash your hands & face & brush your teeth in the shower OR use bottled water. Toilets had toilet paper so that was a big plus. There's a beached area for you to bring kayaks/floatieboats. read more

Our family stayed at Jim Hogg Park for 2015 Memorial Day weekend. We are tent campers but once we arrived we discovered some tent parts missing so we set up our SUV as our sleeping quarters. It's a very nice place! We stayed in a campsite located in the first loop of the park. We had water and electricity. The bathrooms are okay, some maintenance is needed on a couple sinks and showers but overall had our basic needs met. There were a mixture of camp trailers and tents in our area. The RV's were located in the 2nd loop with some tents there as well. The lake is an awesome view from this 2nd loop. We didn't get to do a lot because of the heavy rain but we would go again! Note: During our last morning around 5:15AM, we were awakened by a couple of guys talking and walking on the street. We watched them and they stopped in front of our car, looking our direction although I don't think they could see us. They then walked to our table and started looking around, we honked our horn and scared them away. I don't know what they were looking for, maybe food, but I sure wish the Park Ranger was there!! It was a little scary! read more

Nice park, the camp grounds were in good condition considering there has not been any rain for quite a while. We purchased a new toy hauler and got a golf cart so we could drive around the campground and see the sights, but was disappointed when the park host came up to us while driving his golf cart and said they were not allowed. We did not take it off road, we were not driving too fast, and we were respectful to other campers, but still told we could not drive the golf cart we just purchased. I understand we could have walked but it was 100+ degrees outside and what's more fun that a little drive on the golf cart. All that being said, it is a nice park, but we will not be going back as long as the rule where golf carts are not allowed. read more

Review for hiking only: This trailhead, part of the 26 mile trail encompassing all of Lake Georgetown, is one of my favorites. This hiking area features a lot of the forested and plains section of the trail and has sons breathtaking panoramic views. Lots of overgrown cedar being overtaken by vines, loads of wildlife, wildflowers abound. Minor to moderate changes in elevation make for interesting hiking that most people can still do fairly easily. There are a few spots where the trail gets hard to find so make sure you have a trail map (there are some good ones online that point out these confusing spots and direct you). There is free parking outside the park entrance where you can leave your car and walk in without having to pay the entry fee. read more

If you really love nature and are looking to really enjoy the outdoor and get away camp style this is not the place...park has a 26 mile Hike which we loved hints why we gave it 2 star. But we could have easily parked the car outside of campsite to enjoy hike not a 3 day headache. Reasons why WE did not rate it high: 1. entrance to park they don't know much about the park were not helpful, 2. we like football too but outdoor TVs at campsite blasting games, especially when we want to enjoy a campfire (it's why we went camping peacefulness) beside we recorded the games we wanted to watch at home lol 3. People cutting wood with Ax off actual live trees in park till 11pm and 6am (cause they did not come prepared with firewood) BRING WOOD Host don't carry wood or Ice for purchase. We would only go again for the hike and that is for a day off the campsite. read more

The old hag that works the front gate needs to be put out to pasture. There is NO reason to be rude to adults who are simply wanting to enjoy a park and a nice weekend of camping with a few friends. I overheard several other campers mention her poor attitude as well. The Army Corp of Engineers needs to get rid of this poor excuse of a human with ZERO customer service skills. read more

Very disappointed, we have stayed here in the past and been happy. The gates no longer work. Many sites had "full timers" that did not give up their garage stuff. Used tires, extra propane tanks, lawn mowers and just junk at sites. A few tent campers with trash blowing everywhere and 4-6 trash bags full of trash. Very rarely did anyone drive through to check on things. I did notice police patrolled 1-2x daily, so I assume they might have a problem. Our site had a few medicine measuring cups left. Just not what we are used to from ACOE. Will not be back to this park. With the long Memorial Day weekend, 4 and 5 cars per site. read more

First time here with the family in our travel trailer in slot #6. Nice picnic table and cover. Great space between the site to our left and right- not as many trees and brush but good distance. Great place for a quick get away. Took a shower in the public facilities.... Water was more like a mister and only provided luke warm water- ehh, expected from this type of park. Review for tent camping and hiking: Absolutely love it here, have been two times and spent two nights both times. What a great, relaxing place right outside of Austin. Both times I had a great experience! The 2 couples that work the entrance gate are so sweet and helpful. The campsites are ALWAYS very, very clean--well done! You aren't too close to the people next to you--you can hear them talking but not what they're saying--perfect summer night camping vibe. The bathrooms are always clean and close by no matter where you are camping. Lots of RVs--way more than tent campers but I don't mind that at all. Beautiful hiking trail that starts near the entrance gates and absolutely loved it--saw two groups of bikers and they seemed to be having a blast. Each campsite has a tree or two that creates great shade during the day but they also have the covered pavilion area at each campsite. Campsite comes with electricity and water and was definitely worth the cost each night (stayed 2 nights for under $50). We got in late the first night the second time we went camping and were too tired to cook that night so we went to the Catfish Parlour just down the road and it was AMAZING. Overall just a great weekend at a great park. Highly recommend to everyone! read more
