There is plenty of parking but it does get busy at times so we like to go earlier in the day. Lots of covered pavilion areas with picnic tables that you can use if they aren't reserved; and of course the amazing trail/park that stretches for miles. There is a lake as well and you can catch people fishing , kayaking etc. I've found the park to be clean and well maintained each time we go. In the summer, they open up the splash pad which has been recently upgraded and it's awesome. For sure one of my favorite park areas in the Cedar Park/Austin area. Definitely check this one out.

San Gabriel Park is huge, scenic, and with pristine manicured grounds. There is a little something for everyone - playground for children, walking and cycling trails for adults and fishing for adults as well. Quite honestly, I was surprised to see how many folks were fishing in the San Gabriel River. San Gabriel Park is located along the San Gabriel River. Although the San Gabriel Park is quite large, it has the feel of being absolutely serene simultaneously. The park has picnic tables, places to sit along the river and places to hang out if you want to meditate or take in the park's beauty alone. This park is definitely family-centric with playgrounds, open fields, and shaded areas for picnics or self-discovery.

The bathroom by the playground and splash pad has two directions you can exit.. to the left towards the splash pad or toward the right towards the side wooded area. This is nice if there happen to be lots of kids in the main play area or older kids playing rough, etc. You can always migrate to a different play area. However, I've never seen this place crowded. If you have younger kids that are too small for the play equipment, this park also offers ample green space to just run around. There is a short trail that circles the park and a little pond overlook where you can watch the turtles/fish. You can fish here. There are bathrooms and water fountains here. Ample trash cans and benches as well. There is even a "little free library" by the main playground. You can reserve the picnic pavilion for gatherings. I try to figure out the best way to score on the course since I don't throw very far any longer. There's a premium on accuracy and uneven lies will make it hard to throw accurately for some. I've begun carrying a plastic food store bag and pick up trash which is thrown and has flown onto the course - I'm up to 5 bag fulls. I don't mind but wish people wouldn't throw stuff under trees and bushes thinking nobody will see (we do). The park has recently added many trash cans throughout the course so no excuses folks!

Volunteers have added Tee pads, cleaned up the dead tree holes and made some nice flight lines for your plastic, landscaped the rock edges, and removed much of the trash teenagers like to hide in the "caves" near Hole #10/11. I move it up to a 4/5 Stars. This place has maintained its beauty come drought or high water; it has survived it all. John Houck designed with difficult tight woods holes, one hole down by the river, and a couple of longer, more open holes. Good introduction into a technical course that allows a challenge for experienced players trying to get low scores, and a great experience for beginners that want to bring their game up a few notches. If you are looking for a place to play on windy days, come here, the valley protection limits the wind issues and lets you have some fun or good play when you need it.
