This park (located in a residential neighborhood) has an excellent playscape (appears to be new, since older photos show a different one). It's well-designed with a variety of climbing structures (including a climbing web). However, there are multiple deficiencies: 1) no swings; 2) no canopy cover/shade (although there is a gazebo with benches for parents to sit in the shade); 3) no playscape for younger toddlers (the current playscape doesn't offer much climbing or play opportunities for 2-year-olds). It's a great option for older kids but I wouldn't recommend it for younger toddlers. Bonus for having a large trash can on-site!

This is a nice little neighborhood park in Georgetown that also doubles as a water retention area…read more The water retention area is about twice the size of the park itself. There is a small covered pagoda with 4 benches along with an uncovered playscape area with some swings. The playscape area is ringed by a sidewalk with two picnic tables, but no grills. There is no water fountain nor any public bathrooms on the property. It is a public park, not private, which serves the local residents.

This is nice if there happen to be lots of kids in the main play area or older kids playing rough, etc. You can always migrate to a different play area. However, I've never seen this place crowded. If you have younger kids that are too small for the play equipment, this park also offers ample green space to just run around. There is a short trail that circles the park and a little pond overlook where you can watch the turtles/fish. You can fish here. There are bathrooms and water fountains here. Ample trash cans and benches as well. There is even a "little free library" by the main playground. You can reserve the picnic pavilion for gatherings. Parking lot is pretty small but I've always been able to snag a spot.

Lack of use appears to result in lack of maintenance: active wasp nest (dad got stung), lots of animal poop, and an abandoned tree branch. If visiting, inspect facility carefully prior to play. This park has a decent playscape with canopy cover. It's pretty simple -- a couple climbing opportunities, a few slides, and a tunnel. However, there are two sections -- one for older kids and one for younger toddlers (2-year-olds). Always nice when they acknowledge the little ones. My biggest gripe about this park is that it's a secret. It's not visible from the street at all and completely encapsulated by housing. There are no signs notifying you of a nearby park. The address took us to a cul-de-sac which was initially confusing until we saw a paved path between homes. You take the path and you eventually find the park. I like parks that are in residential areas (no one wants cars whizzing past while kids play) but this is a bit much. I don't know the history of this park and whether it was unfortunately encased in a new development or something. But as a result, I feel like no one comes here. First of all, you have to read or hear about this park. Considering that there's a bit of a trek to get to the park and that your car isn't visible from the park -- that's disincentive. Maybe if the playscape was incredible then it'd be worthwhile. But it's pretty simple like I mentioned before. Personally, I can only envision visiting this park if I lived within walking distance and it was a matter of convenience. Anyway, due to its lack of use, it seems like the park was a bit run down. I found multiple problems while visiting. The first and most concerning was a completed paper wasp nest (with wasps circling around). It was under the younger toddler playscape so we moved both kids to the older kid one. We all climbed through the tunnel and when my husband followed us -- he got stung by a wasp. We immediately left and I notified the city. Just glad my kids weren't stung. There was also a lot of poop under the playscape -- saw like 3 separate piles. I don't know who is pooping under there (wild animal or negligent dog ownership or worse). Finally, there was a huge fallen tree branch (with lots of sharp branches) on the playground. It seemed like someone dragged it there (maybe hoping it would be removed by the city?). Ultimately, this park just feels a bit doomed due to its location.

They added an additional larger play structure over the summer, but there's no signs in the neighborhood and there is no paved path at the park to lead you to it. It is extremely far away from the street. There is also no parking lot so you will have to park in the dirt along Madrid Dr in order to not have your car hit - especially with the heavy traffic on that street during morning commutes, afternoon school pickup (McCoy Elementary is nearby), and evening work rush. There is also no bathroom, water fountain, or bbq grill. Anyway, at a minimum there should be a sign showing that it's a park/playground. Hopefully this review will help others so we can get some kids here!

TLDR: Surprisingly spacious park with a playground with limited range (not ideal for really young…read morekids). Small canopies provide some shade. First of all, it appears the playground has been redone. There are photos here from a few years ago -- looks completely different now. In most cases, these are clear upgrades but I'm not so sure here. The old playground looks pretty nice -- with more equipment for younger toddlers. Why they chose to redo it is a mystery. The current playground equipment is decent with some nice climbing options. It's a little awkward for grown-ups to access (when accompanying really small toddlers who can fall off) since the steps can only be reached via tunnel. So if your young toddler climbs up, you either have to go through the tunnel or climb up some of the ladders. Not a huge deal although if you're an elderly caretaker, take note. The playground does have two small canopies that offer partial shade. One of the biggest deficiencies is the swings. Only two belt swings for older kids. No bucket swings for younger toddlers or babies. Oddly, the pics of the old playground show baby swings -- why did they get rid of them? Weird. There's quite a bit of space like I previously mentioned but I'm not sure if it's being utilized well. There's a small gazebo but it seems a bit pointless. There's nothing in it (no seating) so it looks like a bus stop. I wish they made it into more of a pavilion with benches (there's space). Ultimately, a decent park especially since Georgetown is a bit lacking in playgrounds (when compared to Round Rock especially).

It's not my favorite, as it seems the least maintained with higher grass and weeds. A lot of it is just a path between the backside of apartments/houses and a ditch. In some places it's just very narrow, and two crossing joggers need to claim their path to avoid each other. Though it is 2.2 miles in a 4.3ish mile figure-8 that centers at Fleischer, which is good if your goal is not repeating the same section over and over to get some miles in. The trail here has more percentage concrete than its northern counterparts, including some tricky drainage patches you could trip on if not careful, and involves three road crossings (plus two tunnels to go under Wells Branch Parkway). But what seems to be the draw of this park is the frisbee golf. It seems well marked, and a full 18 holes. It's busy all times of day, with the golfers, or as I believe they like to be called "stoners", bringing their gym bags filled with all sorts of discs. Some of the discs even light up, presumably for evening play. Perhaps the higher grass is to make the golf more "interesting". Like the Mills Pond area, this park could use the lighting found on the Fleischer paths, and maybe a water fountain. But it is a fairly good use for what otherwise would just be a drainage creek.

I find most parks in TX have a severe lack of ... trees? or shade I find it to be kind of weird since I could't just sit out in the middle of the field and take in the UV index of 9 every day ... but then again maybe there was shade elsewhere and I just didn't find it. The grounds are ok, there are some courts for you to play tennis and basketball if you'd like and they really do like to keep this area fairly clean. I think there's a playground somewhere as well although I could be wrong since it was far and across the park. There is also a golf course here. I think that's what most people come for.

This park is phenomenal. I must have told my husband and kids that I loved this park like 20 times. I think it's seriously the best playground I've been to. By the way, I noticed some photos here from a few years ago showing a much more simple playground. It looks like they gave it a full makeover and thank goodness for that! KIDS' EQUIPMENT: The play equipment is divided into zones -- one for smaller toddlers and one for older kids. They're both really great. I was particularly impressed with the equipment for younger kids because that's usually the most lacking at many playgrounds. The main playscape had the usual steps and slide but what made it stand out was all the little interactive add-ons. The designers used every opportunity (railing or wall) to add some sort of interactive element like a sliding ring or moving shape. In addition to the main playscape, there was a little igloo (watch out: a wasp was building a nest inside -- I'm going to try to email the district about it), a see saw, a little spinning chair, and more. Oh and there's a canopy over the main playscape which is great. The larger playscape for older kids was excellent as well. There were so many opportunities for climbing -- the net was super cool. Just like the smaller playscape, this was so rich in interactive elements. PARENTS' EQUIPMENT: This playground seriously has fitness machines. I was floored. Not just like a bar for pull-ups. Three machines. This is brilliant. So you can let your (presumably older, requiring less supervision) kids play while you exercise. TRAIL: There is a short trail that continues from the playground. We didn't walk it but instead crossed the street to take the Brightwater Trail. This passes through the Butterfly Garden and continues to Hairy Man Road. It's a short walk but very pleasant. The butterfly garden is small but lovely. PARKING: Small (but sufficient) lot with some shaded spots.

Much attention has been paid to the grounds care and there's even a raised rest area with two benches. There are even some plant identification markers along the trail explaining the flora and fauna. The trail here does not connect up to any other trails. The playground equipment is pretty standard but what made this park great is all the other stuff it's got going on. There was a musical area near the playground -- a variety of drums and things kids can bang on. I also want to note that the swing set had a high-backed adaptive swing with harness available for those that need it. Here's the best part (in my opinion). There is a miniature golf course here. How awesome is that and why don't more parks do this!? I've never seen that at any parks. You can sign out putters/balls at the rec center office (someone else posted a photo of the sign out instructions here). It appears to only be available Mon-Fri during business hours. Still, an awesome thing to have available. You can bring your own putters/balls if you come on a weekend. There was also a soccer court, tennis court, pickle ball court, football field, baseball field, and a pool with water slides. A lot to do here. Additionally, there was a birding surprise here. In the lake adjacent to the playground, there was a little island just packed with egrets. It was beautiful and unexpected.
