However, there are multiple deficiencies: 1) no swings; 2) no canopy cover/shade (although there is a gazebo with benches for parents to sit in the shade); 3) no playscape for younger toddlers (the current playscape doesn't offer much climbing or play opportunities for 2-year-olds). It's a great option for older kids but I wouldn't recommend it for younger toddlers. Bonus for having a large trash can on-site!

Some covered picnic benches here too. No restrooms. Small parking lot. I feel like this park doesn't get too much action since it's so hidden. The park has some very nicely designed play scapes with swings and the entire property is ringed by trees and cacti. Towards the back of the park, you'll come across a primitive trail that is flanked by cacti which runs behind many of the homes in the area. However, the paved and primitive trails do not link up to any other trails in the area. There is also makeshift softball field, albeit not very large. What you will not find here are public bathrooms, grills, and a water fountain.

This park is phenomenal. I must have told my husband and kids that I loved this park like 20 times. I think it's seriously the best playground I've been to. By the way, I noticed some photos here from a few years ago showing a much more simple playground. It looks like they gave it a full makeover and thank goodness for that! KIDS' EQUIPMENT: The play equipment is divided into zones -- one for smaller toddlers and one for older kids. They're both really great. I was particularly impressed with the equipment for younger kids because that's usually the most lacking at many playgrounds. The main playscape had the usual steps and slide but what made it stand out was all the little interactive add-ons. The designers used every opportunity (railing or wall) to add some sort of interactive element like a sliding ring or moving shape. In addition to the main playscape, there was a little igloo (watch out: a wasp was building a nest inside -- I'm going to try to email the district about it), a see saw, a little spinning chair, and more. Oh and there's a canopy over the main playscape which is great. The larger playscape for older kids was excellent as well. There were so many opportunities for climbing -- the net was super cool. Just like the smaller playscape, this was so rich in interactive elements. PARENTS' EQUIPMENT: This playground seriously has fitness machines. I was floored. Not just like a bar for pull-ups. Three machines. This is brilliant. So you can let your (presumably older, requiring less supervision) kids play while you exercise. TRAIL: There is a short trail that continues from the playground. We didn't walk it but instead crossed the street to take the Brightwater Trail. This passes through the Butterfly Garden and continues to Hairy Man Road. It's a short walk but very pleasant. The butterfly garden is small but lovely. PARKING: Small (but sufficient) lot with some shaded spots.

There's also an exercise area, swings and paved trails. This park is also monitored with security cameras. The trail itself runs behind many of the homes in the area and eventually leads into a larger green space where it turns into a circular gravel trail where you'll find some picnic tables and benches under the trees. Much attention has been paid to the grounds care and there's even a raised rest area with two benches. There are even some plant identification markers along the trail explaining the flora and fauna. The trail here does not connect up to any other trails. It just spits you out into a neighborhood where you can walk or bike to two neighboring parks several blocks away called Cheatham and Friendly Oaks Park. This large patch of green space and play area are a great asset to the local community as the 10 photos below attest.

First of all, it appears the playground has been redone. There are photos here from a few years ago -- looks completely different now. In most cases, these are clear upgrades but I'm not so sure here. The old playground looks pretty nice -- with more equipment for younger toddlers. Why they chose to redo it is a mystery. The current playground equipment is decent with some nice climbing options. It's a little awkward for grown-ups to access (when accompanying really small toddlers who can fall off) since the steps can only be reached via tunnel. So if your young toddler climbs up, you either have to go through the tunnel or climb up some of the ladders. Not a huge deal although if you're an elderly caretaker, take note. The playground does have two small canopies that offer partial shade. One of the biggest deficiencies is the swings. Only two belt swings for older kids. No bucket swings for younger toddlers or babies. Oddly, the pics of the old playground show baby swings -- why did they get rid of them? Weird. There's quite a bit of space like I previously mentioned but I'm not sure if it's being utilized well. There's a small gazebo but it seems a bit pointless. There's nothing in it (no seating) so it looks like a bus stop. I wish they made it into more of a pavilion with benches (there's space). Ultimately, a decent park especially since Georgetown is a bit lacking in playgrounds (when compared to Round Rock especially).

Good playground equipment that includes a playscape for younger toddlers. No canopy though so scorching on a hot day. That being said, there are shady areas in the park (saw a few families having picnics). The adjacent creek is nice. There's a little trail alongside it. Turn left (from playground) and you can see the famous Round Rock (just under the bridge). Turn right and you pass a war memorial and soon make it to the spiral (a spiral walking ramp that apparently offers nice views of the creek). It was super hot so we skipped the spiral. The thing that bothered me about this park -- there are lots of blank rusted signs. Were they ever in use or were they never completed? I was just confused by their presence. On top of that, I would have liked to see some actual signs. There were a few by the entrance of the park noting the location of the Round Rock, spiral, etc. But if entering the trail from the playground, you don't see any of this info. There's no sign by the Round Rock about its history and no sign by the tree sculpture by the spiral (at least credit the artist). Large parking area.

Newest park in Cedar Park in the wonderful Bell District! This park just opened this week with…read morelimited amenities. The city is still working on park expansion, including a paved trail that takes you through the forest. This park is different from other parks in the area due to its close proximity next to the new Cedar Park library and the varied landscape. Much of the grass and forest is roped off to allow for proper time for growth and keeping nature natural. There are outdoor restrooms though they were closed when I went. They also have water fountains, a pavilion, and many picnic tables to study, eat, or just enjoy a conversation. Not much road noise can be heard from Bell Blvd, if any. The park is located adjacent to parking and the library so expect some noise. Parking looks to be very limited as street parking is offered. No immediate parking lots could be seen at time of writing. The trail extends from a sidewalk entrance on Bell Blvd and winds through the Bell District, linking up with Bell Park as it continues on into the forest. Many pet waste stations line the trail. As mentioned, the grass and trees are still establishing so the green areas of the park can't be used at the moment. But the barebones of what this park has now promises an eventful gathering space for generations to come. I can't wait for the future developments to come for this park!
