Solid course that's worth having in your rotation if you live in north Austin. I appreciate the variety of holes they have, ranging from wide open to fairly technical. The grasses are reasonably well maintained, but definitely a bit below the standard of other beginner friendly courses in Austin. Don't love that one hole requires you to throw over a large lake each time, so it's always a 17 hole round for me here. With the downsides noted I always find it to be an enjoyable spot to play read more

This place is awesome! A wonderful coverage from the hot Texas sun, a place to picnic, play soccer, dog watch (or bring your dogs!), play frisbee golf, or walk! It's an awesome place to come any day of the week. They even have public bathrooms that are pretty clean as well. Highly recommend this place for families. read more

This is our favorite dog park. Everyone pays such close attention to their dogs and is so friendly with the other humans. I love how much shade there is (given how hot it gets here) and that there are fun agility activities for the dogs. read more

This is a really nice park! I love the disc golf course. It only has 3/5 discs on dgcoursereview.com, but I'd easily give it 4. It has a handful of birdie opportunities, with a great mix of long or short, and open or technical holes. There are also plenty of water hazards to keep you on your toes. Warning: the foliage of the spring and summer tend to add 5 or more strokes per round. I recommend playing it in the winter months to boost your moral. Also, watch out for SNAKES!!! I've seen a handful; one was a big old moccasin. I've also heard several people warn about rattlers. The rest of the park is also great. There is a soccer field just down the road past the parking lot, and a nice work out area near the big covered pavilion. The park offers plenty of wide open space, trees, and a walking path meanders around giving view to a quiet little creek and a couple ponds that all play into the disc golf course. For you dog lovers, this park has a couple of really nice off leash dog areas: one for small breads and one for large. There are dog agility obstacles in both, and there's a water fountain with a dog drinking reservoir near the entrance. Let's keep this place quiet and das; aka don't come here, LOL. read more

Hint hint, not everyone is up to the task of owning and training a pitbull and that definitely applies to you! It takes a special dog parent to have a pitbull and you are not it! Most recently they have spen the time and effort to improve much of the gravel paths and make them full concrete ones. I think this was a much needed improvement since the park has so much exercise/walking/jogging traffic. As to the disc golf course. They have moved the practice putting basket to a better location away from the play ground and picnic seating, they have added a course map, and they have made almost all of the tee boxes fully concrete and connected to the main walking paths. The other tee boxes not connected to the walking paths are still concrete. The concrete tee pads is a great improvement over the crushed rock and the hybrid uneven concrete mix they previously used. You simply feel safer on the tees now when throwing hard. Hole #11 is no longer on the hill as it used to be and that is for the best. They have placed it in a good path and avoided the major erosion concerns that they had when it was on the hill. If it rained, that hill became problematic to play on. Additionally, they have finally added "Beware of Snakes" signs and hopefully people will observe them. There are small pockets of water and low areas that the snakes naturally seek shelter in; it is a park after all, and people need to be warned in the event they do not think of this and let their pets and kids wander into these areas. Overall, the course is improving as they need to keep up the maintenance of its growth and popularity. Trees die naturally and the course changes. The pond is staying full with water and the facilities are still good. Hopefully in the near future they will improve upon the tee box signage to be consistent and accurate on the distances. Some show yards and some show feet. Also, with the changing of the course layout, it could reflect better, but does not take away from the overall good experience the course provides new or old players. read more

Amazing dog park! I finally brought my rat terrier here because they have a separate area for small dogs, and it's very large. I was afraid it would be all chintzy, but she ran her ass off. Only down side was not many dogs, so come on out, people! After the other small dogs left, the big dog owners said I could bring her over to play, but she got them a little too riled up and we had to bail. No stray poops, a watering fountain, lots of room and some agility equipment made for a very enjoyable Saturday morning. For the longest time, I thought this road led to the end of the world or some no mans land where dinosaurs roamed freely. As it turns out, I was wrong...although I wish there were some dinosaurs. I recently became a new doggie daddy and was looking for a nearby park to take my son to so he could begin his socialization. Vanessa N turned me onto this place...and I'm glad she did! It has two fenced in dog areas. One for small dogs (25lb and under) and one for large dogs (25lb and over). Each space has ample space for running and playing, an agility type catwalk thing, which my pup seems to hate, plenty of shade, poop stations, and shade trees. The entrance sports water fountains for both parents and pups. The entire park complex itself is really nice, too. A huge enclosed picnic area, playscape, and grills. Clean modern bathrooms are also present in the pavilion. It's surrounded by a disc golf course (a sport I never totally understood). Every time I go there, there are hardly any other dogs there. I wonder if nobody knows about it. I'm hoping that people will start coming around with their dogs more often, as my dog is sick of socializing with me all the time and needs more doggie buddies. read more

Great dog park. Bring a water bowl, unless you want to keep taking your pup out of the fenced area to get a drink. Plenty of shade and sitting areas for people and tons of agility structures for dogs. read more

I LOVE LOVE this park, the dogs, and the people here at Stoney Creek Dog Park/ Harris Ridge Dog Park/ Northtown Dog Park or whatever you call this cool dog park with awful signage. :-) I have been to almost every fenced in dog park in the area, and the only one I like better is the Cedar Bark Park (since it has a pond for swimming). I still have to check the Georgetown Bark Park (which I hear is also very nice). Stoney Creek Dog Park in the Northtown Park area is still a hidden gem, but more and more people are learning about it. The list of PROS is long: -separate area for big and small dogs (both with plenty of running space on either side) -FENCED properly -lots of big trees for shade on the big side (and benches spread out) -the water drains really well (woodchips also prevent it from getting muddy like Round Rock's dog park) -fun hills on the large side -multiple poop stations and most people are great about picking up after their dogs -regular group of friendly folks in the evening -attentive, responsible owners and positive people who help one another and are active with the dogs -so many lovely, lovely pups -not too many kids come to the big side (I'm always worried the dogs will knock the kids over accidently and get blamed for injuries) -open facebook group for organizing/communicating (if you want to join, it's Stoney Creek Dog Park of Austin/Pflugerville) -responsive Park board who is consistently working to improve the park Cons - - NO WATER or BOWL inside, so BRING WATER and a BOWL - No light, and as it gets dark earlier there is less time for the evening crowd to bring their dogs - Poor signage, nobody knows the official name of the dog area read more

Yay for a fenced-in Dog Park! There is a big & small dog section, doggy fountain and poop stations. I have big dogs who love to play and this is a great place for them to tire themselves out. The big dog are has some hills for the dogs to play hide & seek, trees to run around, grass to roll on and a bench for the humans. When we went there were a couple of bully pit bulls there, but once they left everyone got along! We will be back very soon :) read more

A great little "secret" dog park for people in N. Austin and Pflugerville. My pup is grateful for the small dog section, and learned how to sniff and let other dogs sniff here. The area is clean, and there are cool man-made hill thingies for your dog to jump up on. We met a wonderful Papillon, Pug, Dachshund and Magnificent Mutts when we went -- and look forward to seeing y'all again soon! A Pit-bull puppy was also there, and was very friendly! The dog owners are pretty responsible, when one gets out of line they take their pup aside to correct them or leave the group. Way better than Riverside, where owners drop off their dog and sit in the car, lol! If your dog is well-behaved and doesn't play too rough/attack other animals, feel free to bring him/her on by! There is a fountain for water outside the gate, so bring a fresh dish. Note to dog owners: I understand a lot of your big pooches play well with the small ones, but that doesn't mean small ones will feel the same. Please be mindful of this and remember there is a 25 lb limit to the small dog section. Especially if you know your pooch plays rough. read more

They have opened the flood gates at Northtown! There is a water hazard on almost every hole! Watch out for Fred the Moccasin on hole 14.

Love the DG course! Has a few very difficult holes however it's a great course. I feel like it's also never packed, and you don't usually have people standing behind you waiting - that alone is what keeps us coming back! read more

The only thing that keeps me from giving this disc golf course five stars is that it's not first-time-user friendly. Which is to say we had two big adventures finding the next tee box. With no map and no arrows and no hard beaten path to lead us, we were left to wander and wander. No.2 tee is a 100 yd double back toward the dog park. No. 13 is out by the street. Also, the baskets could use some color. The galvanized coating makes them a perfect camouflage next to the silver bark of the gum trees. Thankfully, I know our next time out will be much easier. read more

I have so far only taken my new dog here once, but this place is incredible. We met a few other nice doggies, and their nice owners. Elbie enjoyed running around and playing with the other dogs who were regulars, plus he just enjoyed the park being much bigger than the little dog park in our complex. The benches for people were shaded, and the exercise toys there are pretty cool - things for dogs to run up, over, and down. Anyhow, once my broken foot is FULLY healed, we'll finally return. read more

Nice, clean park with two off leash areas that are separated based on large/small size dogs. The only thing missing is other people! I think this is a "little known secret" but it's worth going too. Also has a playground for children and a jogging/biking trail. read more

My pup loved this park. Unlike other dog parks in the area, this one actually had a lot of dogs and wasn't empty. The area was large and was surrounded by a lot of trees. Like others, I found this park was a bit difficult to locate, but with the help of another yelp reviewer's photos we knew what we were looking for and found the entrance gate without a problem. We went on a beautiful day, so I am not sure if the young trees would provide a lot of shade on a sunny hot day. A playground was nearby which was another plus so everyone left happy. read more

I'm so happy to have found the doggie area of Northtown Park (aka Harris Ridge Park)! I was driving 25 minutes to a nice fenced in dog park (West Central Austin Park) three times a week. Now it takes me under 10 minutes to spoil my dog - and the place is very nice. So far, everything is great about this park. I wish there was a water bowl inside the park, but then again it's pretty awesome that there is fresh water (at the doggie and human levels) right outside of the park (and you can bring your own bowl and refill there). I'm curious about the comments I have seen here about "bully pitbulls". I did see two pit bulls at the park but they were of super sweet and playful temperament like my girl. I am sad whenever I see someone make a general complaint about "bully pitbulls" as if bully labradors and bully chihuahas and so on do not exist. It's the individual (and the person raising the dog) - not the breed. Again about the park - I liked that all the owners were attentive to their dogs. I think the limited seating encourages owners to take a more active role at the park. If you have a dog that likes to play and needs a fenced in place to run, bring him or her here for sure! It sounds like the best time to come is after 5pm weekdays or on weekends (unless you want the place to yourself). read more

This disc golf course is top notch. The best disc golf courses make you think about every hole. This course does that almost to a fault. Though I'd argue that some of the holes could be less narrow (and hole 8 or 9 doesn't even seem to offer any legitimate path to success) overall it's great! read more

This park is close to our home, which makes it very convenient to go to in order to give the dog exercise. The park has a dog park with two separate areas for large and small dogs. This is not a large dog park but it does feature some manmade hills for the dogs to frolic on. We have had several run ins with pit bulls at this park. When the usual group is there (usually see them Saturdays at 10am), we avoid the place. Otherwise, there are many times when there are little to no dogs there. Biggest inconvenience is no running water inside the enclosures. There is a doggie water fountain just outside the gate though. This park also features a playground, pavillion, disc golf course and trail. read more

This park is in my neighborhood, so convenient and always a lot of dogs for my Samson to pay with.

Still a nice place to let the pups off leash and the Frisbee golf trails are great for a run with or without your for legged friend.

My daughter ended up in the er we were playing at the park and she had a very bad allergic reaction to the mulch. This has never happened to her before please be careful we got to the er just in time praise god. read more

We love this park for all of the reasons listed above. The people and dogs are friendly. The one thing we noticed is during the week it seems the best time to go is after 6 pm when most folks are off of work. During the weekend there seems to be a good flow of dogs all day. Most folks, including us, bring water and have no problem sharing with the other doggies. Love the shaded area and the fact that most everyone cleans up after their dogs. I can definitely see this park becoming quite popular in the near future. read more

Such a great dog park. We were passing through Austin and needed a park to run our dog in. All of the owners were incredibly nice and friendly. They had great control over their dogs. Our pup is new to socializing so we wanted a more low key dog park. It was perfect. It was obvious all of the owners that brought their dogs there really play an active role in socializing and training their dogs. Everyone seemed to know everyone else... great environment. Our dog had a blast and we picked up some good training tips from the other owners. Hope to find a dog park as nice when we finish our travels and get back home. read more

I love bringing my dog to this community park! The dog park is always clean and well cared for. It's always a plus to have a place with different areas for dogs based on their sizes and an entry way area to avoid escapees. The neighbors are friendly and welcoming. The trails are great to walk -- especially if the dog park is a little too hectic at the moment. And the fields and play areas are great for families. Even when there are a ton of people there, it never feels too crowded and we always have a great time. read more

I absolutely love this dog park. I bring my dogs here several times a week. They always come home and pass out!!! I also really like that they have a water fountain for the dogs.
