Gap is my go-to since we have the CC. This location is great because it's in the outdoor mall and there is ample parking. There is the elevator for continence since we tend to have a stroller with us. If not, there is the escalator. Everything is located on the top floor. The woman's section takes up half the store. Then you have the children's and the men's department is tiny. There are two dressing rooms available and a bathroom. The dressing rooms tend to be a little cluttered. I was disappointed the bigger handicap room was used as stock, so I had to try on clothes with the door open so I can keep an eye on my toddler in the stroller. The sale section is always stocked up and organized. Service is okay, I found myself standing next to two associates just talking waiting to get their attention, didn't so I went to find someone else. read more

I had an impromptu shopping trip at this location for my daughter whose potty training, I quickly found a comfortable outfit for her and few other outfits and accessories for another time. I probably shop for clothing inside a store once a year, as online shopping is much easier but this location I could easily adopt as my go to for when I need last minute outfits for my little ones. read more

Took my son in early this afternoon for back to school shopping after having two terrible customer service experiences (like most of the times I shop at u village ) back to back at other stores .We walked in and we're immediately greeted by Andrew. We instantly felt like we're were wanted guest in the store . We shopped around for a bit all the staff was super friendly and helpful. Andrew helped us one more time with some signage questions before we checked out. I must be seeing some older Gap reviews or they have revamped their staff. I love the big open space. There's a variety of shopping for everyone in the family. The only thing bumming me out is their petite sizes are online, so there's not much for me to grab in store. I've always been warmly greeted and people have helped me find certain items if I was specific about sweaters or jackets as the weather was changing and we were new to the area. They also emphasized any sales that were happening. This place has been consistent with my previous gap experiences. It's your standard Gap, fairly high prices for fairly decent quality of clothing. Apart from their jeans! My goodness. I have purchased 3 pairs of jeans from this establishment and they were all in disrepair after about 2-3 months. You'd think that was my fault right? Well, is there a reason why my jeans from J. They have a pretty big section for women's work out clothes that's worth checking out. In general I think they're over priced for the quality and design of clothes they offer, but for wardrobe staples they have nice-fitting tank tops, work out clothes, skinny jeans, etc. I like the hot pink t-shirts and stuff here that are a fun addition. The employees here are always nice. Paying $50 for jammies is a little ridiculous though. Look online for coupons before you come! read more

Oh wow. I am still in disbelief about my experience in this Gap location. It's almost a TwilightZone / CandidCamera-ish sense of wonder I'm left with. First, this location is in the University Village shopping center. That's not clear in the address they provide here. I walked around for about 15 minutes, picking up many things to try on. I noticed the layout was odd. Not a wide selection compared to other locations, and the use of space was strange... lots of unused space with fewer displays than you'd expect. No one approached or acknowledged me, which was fine, since I'm a low-maintenance shopper who generally prefers to be left alone. However, when I was finally approached, it was by a hostile-faced lady with a brusque, "Can I help you with something??" Kind of accusatory, as if I either had no right to be there or looked like a shoplifter. I inquired if they carried a specific sweater and she answered, "Did you NOTICE these over here??" Well, obviously not... since I asked and all. The item in question was sequestered in a back corner in a folded pile. As I'm standing there, my arms overflowing with a few hundred dollars' worth of potential purchases, she walks up to the sweater pile, straightens it out, and promptly walks away. Wow, it would've been nice if she'd offered to grab one in my size (or even asked to start a fitting room). When I made it to the fitting room after a seriously awkward, arms-full attempt to locate my size in the sweater pile, I was warmly greeted by a male associate manning the fitting rooms. I thought, "Oh, yes. Here's a friendly face to make up for the mean lady." He escorted me to a room. The fitting room itself was FILTHY with dust and old hair and dirt. Gross. Not 5 minutes later, this same associate suddenly knocked loudly at the door. "Oh, my new friend must be here to ask if he can help with anything," I thought. "Yes?" I said. No response. Then, loudly, "You're going to have to wait till this person is done." Oh, he was talking to someone else wanting to try things on. (Like, you just put me in this room...the one right next to where you are standing. Did you forget I was in here?) Well ok, I kept trying things on. Not 2 minutes later, KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! again from the guy. What, seriously? Is this Value Village where you have a 5 minute fitting-room limit, and this is my second warning? The store wasn't even busy. Forget it. I dropped everything, got dressed, and left. Not going back. read more

I hadn't been to a Gap in many years, but it used to be a swell place to go for well-made, inexpensive basic clothing items, like t-shirts and jeans. I came to the store looking for some basic camisoles and perhaps a denim shirt. How hard can that be, right? I was impressed by the sheer size of the store and the lay-out, with different sections clearly devoted to women, men and kids. There was a great women's active/exercise area, with some very nice work-out clothing, but I was not in the market for that today. I found a denim shirt to try on (at $59, it was no great bargain, but I liked the denim wash and style) and one camisole style. No one asked if they could help me find anything, so I simply wandered for a while. I saw a sign for dressing rooms on one wall, but when I approached, a lady there said they were out of service, I'd have to use the "other fitting rooms". When I asked where they were, noting this was my first time in this store, she vaguely waved her arm in the air, pointing to the right, saying "over there". Alrighty, then! Once in the available dressing rooms, I noted that the denim shirt was WAY too short (perhaps it was meant to be tucked in? I'm not sure. The shorter length was certainly not the fashion nowadays) and the cami just did not fit right, with a too-scooped neckline and non-adjustable straps. Just... not good. And for the price ($19), you can get a nice Halogen cami or tank in Norstroms, with adjustable straps, pleasant sales ladies who actually want to help you, beautiful dressing rooms and a way bigger selection of sizes and styles. It actually saddened me, that the Gap that I used to love and shop at frequently has become like this. read more

I am so .. medium.. about this place. The displays look good. Clothes which are at a price I wish to pay are poor quality. More expensive items are pretty. During last years holidays it was packed and I marveled at cheap quality jewelery and beautiful sweaters. Customer service is very mixed from vapid to intentional and good. read more

Typical GAP clothing that we all know and have seen, any of you remember the "Dress you up in my Love" commercial? I was not greeted or asked if I needed help. Psh! I obviously was in a shopping mood, I am not asking for in your face customer service, but an acknowledgement would of been nice! It's ok, obviously the two gals working there were more interested in their social lives. After browsing, I just walked out and went on my merry way to walk around the Village. Seriously, what is wrong with this store? I have an unnatural obsession with Gap because I grew up on it, so even though the designs have pretty much been horrible across the board (kids stuff is okay) I still manage to spend money. I just went in there for find Father's Day gifts for husband and was carrying around 6 items that I was for sure going to buy. They were cumbersome sweatshirts and jeans so it was awkward to carry them around while I continued to shop. It took me about 3 minutes of wandering around the store to find someone who actually worked there. When I did, I approached her very gently as it was very apparent that she was having a rough time. I'm pretty sure she was the manager too because she was wearing a headset (short, blonde, glasses, in case anyone cares that she lost you hundreds of dollars.) I asked her if there was somewhere to put the clothes that I was going to buy while I continued to shop. She looked at me like I had asked her to clean my bathroom. Completely disgusted she said "if I can find some room behind the counter?" Like she was doing me the biggest favor ever for wanting to hold the clothes I was going to pay her for while I went to go get more clothes I was going to pay her for. She then grabbed them out of my arms and ran behind the counter where she stuffed them. As she walked to the end of the counter I politely let her know that I will do my business elsewhere. We are older women, and we never feel weird or unwelcome like we do in some boutiques. The staff are uniformly lovely, helpful, and just nice. We always look forward to shopping here. I got a gift certificate from the Gap for my newborn son. I NEVER shop at the Gap for myself, but figured I'd see what cute baby stuff they have for our upcoming family photos. Finding parking and walking to the U-Village store is a pain in the butt with an infant, but whatever. Then you get to wait for the elevator to take you to the actual store upstairs. Fine - no biggie. The baby stuff for boys is crammed into one little corner in the back of the store where all the moms blessed with little boys have to trip over one another to even view the merchandise. Given that we're all toting small children while we're shopping, there are many "excuse me's" and "I'm so sorry's" exchanged as we bump into one another. On the plus side, the styles they offered for 0-9 month olds were pretty hip - I mean, not overly cutesy, which is what you find at most places for that age range. However, an enormous amount of their baby boy's clothing this season had British flags on it, even the shoes. I just found this pretty strange personally, but chose to overlook it and picked up some cute stuff. Everything I got was on sale pretty much, so bear in mind that NONE OF THEIR SALE BABY CLOTHES ARE RETURNABLE (thank you salesperson for making me aware of this). So, after waiting in line for 15 minutes, I decided to hope that they would fit my son when I got home. It's not like I'm going to throw him in a dressing room and try everything on him anyway, so fingers crossed! Besides, if I had purchased the items at full price, we're talking like $25 for a pair of pants that he can wear for about 4-6 weeks, maybe. Non-returnable sale it is! Ok - so I get home, try the stuff on my son, and it's super super cute! Score! I'm happy. He's too young for clothes to make him happy, but he certainly looks adorable. Now, fast forward 3 weeks. I have literally put the socks I bought on him TWICE, and one of them already has a huge hole. How on earth is a baby who can't even crawl yet going to put a hole in his sock!? Also, the awesome $25 pants (on sale I think they were $17) I got him now are coming apart at the seam on one side. He has worn them perhaps 4 times total so far. Most of the items I bought him he has worn less than 5 times, so I'm interested to see how long it takes before everything else falls apart. Super disappointing quality given that I would expect higher end baby clothes to last LONGER than the cheap stuff, but this is the first time I've had any baby clothes come apart like that, EVEN THE HAND ME DOWNS he has received! Shame on the Gap for their poor quality and ridiculous prices on stuff they probably paid workers in China $1.15 to make. read more

I don't actually like this Gap location very much. It seems like they never have the right size or color I want, and the salespeople are never available to check on things or provide assistance. They do have a large selection of exercise clothes, but nothing really stood out and the prices seemed high. The dressing room was dirty too, and this was about 30 minutes after they opened! Worst service ever. No one on the floor or fitting rooms to help me get a different size and when I finally got myself up to the registers, the irritable assistant manager rang me up. His name started with a D I wish I could remember, but he was just very snappy at me. I have been shopping at Gap for 3 years now and I don't think I've ever gotten as bad of service as I had gotten that day. I already filled out a customer experience survey I got at the registers and everything. From the looks of it, you guys were really busy, but I work in retail too, and whenever I'm stressed out I am sure to keep a fake smile and make sure the guests have something to remember. Jeans shopping is usually traumatic enough for me. Now that I'm pregnant it is just downright rage inducing. Pre-pregnancy I was a size 12 or 14 in Calvin Klein jeans after losing some weight. Before losing some weight I would get a size 16 and have to take the waist in. Now that I'm nearly 7 months pregnant their size 14 maternity jeans kind of fit but I feel like a 16 would probably work better. The problem is that Gap does not stock size 16 in maternity jeans in stores. Yes I have big hips and a booty but I am not so freaking fat that I should have to special order my clothes. Every other maternity store I have been to stocks size 16 as well as plus sizes. The worst part was when I asked about size 16 and they told me to check the Seattle store, good thing I called ahead or I would have wasted money on parking and an hour driving around in futility. read more

I'm not reviewing the kids section, but the U Village store, is a little smaller than the downtown Seattle store, but the service was much better. I was greeted by a nice woman who said hello when I went into the store. A person ringing up a customer who was taking a bit long apologized on her own to me when I was waiting in line for it taking a bit to long while they were trying to get a customer a credit card. A guy working there was good at trying to find something which was close to what I was looking for but not exactly it, and also was able to suggest website etc.. There was no pressure from the sales staff, a woman also tried to show me what jeans they had in my size, but they weren't blue ones. I think the only thing I was disappointed at was they were having jeans on sale but had been sold out of my size in the blue. While gap clothing is nothing extreamly special the prices are reasonable and one thing I loved is they actually have an XS size, since I happened to now get smaller than small size. I hardly see this size anywhere but they had it in there sweet pants even though I assume a lot of people aren't this size, so that was way kool!!! since the small ones didn't fit anymore. The new store layout is really neat, and they have a wide variety of items, and some dressy clothes. I found other things I wanted there but didn't have enough money to get this visit unfortunately. I felt that I would just like to say that the service here was so much better than when I've been in the downtown store, and the employee's actually seemed like they knew what they were doing!! There were even no issues at the register and the staff didn't pressure me to much about the gap card. I enjoyed my visit shopping at the u village gap even though they didn't have the size jeans I am in blue on sale that day. Even though it is a little further, I can't just walk to it like the one downtown, it almost is more worth going there than downtown, but they do carry some different things sometimes so I guess it will all just depend, I enjoyed u village though a lot more. I think though just to note that one thing I do like about the gap is its not over priced like abercrombie and fitch or other style stores so that makes it nice to be able to get clothing on a tight budget. I think one thing that I'd like to see improved is more clothing that appeal to younger people or teens. read more

Bought some baby clothes as a gift, found out the next day I bought the wrong size. Called the next day and explained , they said as long as the tags were on and I had a receipt, I could exchange. After driving around for a hour(parking is crazy on the weekends) went and picked out the right sizes, stood in a long line. No exchanges on any sale items! Talked to the manager ( 10/22/11 around 2:50) and her attitude was you didn't talk to me on the phone so too bad. I will never spend another dime at the Gap! read more

I thought it was just me that thought had a bad experience at this store until I read other reviews. I wanted to try on some clothes and had to go find a salesperson. I found a girl to open a dressing room for me and she seemed annoyed that she had to help me. She was walking so fast and didn't care if I was following her or not. She opened the door for me and closed it. Then I could barely hear her say, let us know if you need anything" as she walked away. I went to pay and the cashiers were so slow. The guy that helped me was not super friendly. I'm sticking to the Downtown store. Way better customer service. read more

This store has very poor selection. For example - they carry men's jeans in even sizes only - 30, 32, 34, 36. It's hard to find a salesperson to confirm that they don't have other sizes. read more
