I am writing this complaint to tell you guys that the owners are very rude coming from working for them and in just one day i realized this isnt the place to be they are disrespectful and try to intimadate you and also they say its a team work environment and they are not. In my interview isabella was all nice and welcoming but on first day she was a completely differnt person she spoke to me rude when i asked her a question when its my first day it even asking her for the schedule. Then lunch time came and my wife heard her speak to me in the phone disrespectfully like if i was bothering her and they basically told me to figure it out and once i came back from lunch they were just judging and tried to lowball me on pay , i am just disappointed because there reviews were really good . just beware read more

Called Gamino and left message. Gal called me back pretty quickly. I told her what I needed and sent photos. She said she'd call me back with an estimate and I never heard from her again. I don't chase businesses to give them my money. If they don't want new customers, just say so! I'm not sure if this was their practice prior to the pandemic but I'm noticing more and more that there is some really poor customer service happening. Since this is LA and not a small isolated mountain town...I know there are numerous choices of places to take my business. Loaded the chairs and drove all the way to the location just to be greeted by the most rudest person ever, mind that I myself work with customers and serves is make or break deal for me. Didn't hesitate to walk out and take my service somewhere else. PS you are not only one in the business and there are multiple shops near by to have stock up attitude. TL;DR: Took recliner to Gamino, took a bit longer then expected. End result was beyond my expectations. Gamino is great as long as you aren't a control freak and on a deadline. My husband inherited his father's recliner and it was in pretty bad shape. The hardware was broken, the cushions were deflated and the upholstery was thrashed. However, we didn't want to part with it due to the fact that it was sentimental. I looked into a various companies and called to get quotes. I prefer spending my money on local mom and pop shops so when I came across Gamino I was thrilled. It did take some time to get an estimate, but I just kept following up. When we finally set a date and time for pick up of our recliner, Isabel called in advance before showing up, was on time and her and her assistant were very courteous. I hadn't picked out fabric yet so Isabel said to come to her shop later that day to pick one out. When I went to the store, it is small, a little cramped and FULL of cloth samples. Isabel asked me what I was looking for so I explained the uses for the chair and that I wanted something easy to clean and could possibly stand up to a dog's paws. She gave me several books to choose from and was able to answer ALL my questions. With her help I picked out a cloth that was exactly what I wanted. She said it would take about 2 weeks to complete. Going on three weeks I hadn't heard anything from Isabel and was wondering how the recliner was coming along. So I picked up the phone and called her. She answered right away and informed me that the cloth had been on back order and she had received it late the last week. It was currently under construction. She explained it would be ready within another week and she would email me when it was done. 1.5 weeks later...I was beginning to lose patience. I finally got the email that it was done and when could they drop it off. I emailed them back with the time and they confirmed. This all happened within 10 minutes. Woohoo! I was finally getting my recliner back. The next day they delivered it at the time we had confirmed and again, they called in advance, they confirmed that the time was still good and 15 minutes later they were at my home with the finished product. Not only did they do an amazing job on the upholstery but they had also found someone to fix the hardware for me, which is why it took so long. The workmanship and detail was amazing. Isabel and her team did a great job! 5 star review is based on the finished product alone. Their service was NEVER rude or crude, however if you want updates on EVERY step of the project you will either have to call them constantly or find someone else. Luckily I had no deadline on the chair and am so glad that I went to Isabel at Gamino to get this sentimental chair fixed and redone. Looking forward to many more years with the chair and my husband. I had started looking for a headboard for my bedroom. I knew that if I went to a department store or even Restoration Hardware or such, I would have to spend $3,000-$4,000 for a headboard. In looking online, I found a ton of stores and locations. It's hard to decide on a place because at the end of the day, this stuff is not cheap and you don't want to drop a ton of money for something that could look cheap. So I got on Yelp and found a few locations, obviously one of them being Gamino. I was going to be in the area and decided to stop by their shop. To make a long story shorter, I decided to work with them because of the consumer confidence on Yelp. I had pictures of what I wanted in total it took about 3 weeks to get the order in and finalized. I finally got the headboard about two months after my inital order which at the end of the day, I did not mind. The headboard is beautiful! It looks amazing. It's 6 feet tall and wide as the bed is a california king. The price was also very reasonable. They don't presure you to pay everything upfront. In fact, they only had me pay the material in the beginning and at the end paid the rest. That is some confience in your product. I am very happy with the product. My review is an honest one and I hope that people don't think that I am being pickly. See this review as something to help you decide if you want to work with them or not. I would definetly do it again. However, if you work with them address the delivery arrangements first. I didn't and it delayed thigs for about 3 weeks. I would definetly have them deliver a headboard if you are buying one. The fee ended up being worth it to not have to deal with the setup of it. Only thing that I would change during the setup is for the guys hands to be very very clean. There were parts that got dirty and I have not been able to clean them. It's not a part that is visible but still, I though I would share. I think it's important to share so that Isabel can make sure that her staff is careful about this next time and so that the public can see that I am being honest about my review and still very happy. Definetly use them! I plan to do so again for other things that I may need. I can't be happier with my headboard. And in case I didn't mention it, I spent less than $1,000 for the headboard, material and delivery. I saw my headboard at a shop on La Brea for $4,400. read more

Very bad communication. Do not use this company unless you are very thorough and specific with Ana. They charged me $150 to come out and measure an area for custom made cushions. They measured, gave me suggestions on pillow shapes and I picked out the sunbrella fabric from the books provided to me (after being told which fabric was on the less expensive spectrum of the books). They had all the info to give me the quoteI requested. 2 days later (after I had to call and ask to give me the information), the quote was $2,300. We were very happy with the quote, so we called Ana to meet with us to finalize the details on style and to pick up the pillows that needed to be re-made. A few days later I got an email from them with a quote at over $6,000! I thought it was a mistake! But, soon was told the $2300 quote was only for labor. I'm not sure how these people stay in business when I paid them $150 to come out and give me a fake quote which only included labor! They refused to refund my $150, refused to give me the measurements they took (which I paid for), and refused to return the pillows they picked up without charging me more $$$$. A couple years ago she expertly repaired the leather cushions of my beautiful (and very expensive) couch after my new puppy chewed the corners. I could not have been any happier with the outcome.. blew me away!! And recently, she reupholstered a dining room chair for me, using a favorite Ballard Design animal print fabric that I had. I stopped by for a quick estimate a couple of months ago on some curtains and the woman who helped me was extremely rude. I didn't catch her name but I'm assuming the manager (older woman). She kept on snapping at me for measurements and I felt like she was being very condescending as I didn't give her the details exactly like she ordered. I had asked for pricing for both alterations of existing fabric as well as purchasing the fabric through them. The rough estimate she quoted me for the custom job was extremely overpriced, and she said she would email me for the alteration (which never happened). I really just wanted to get out of there - I'm not sure how they have business with that customer service or pricing. My guess is that the majority of their work is for larger business clients so they don't care about smaller jobs. Cervantes Custom Design on the same street is a fraction of the cost and the owner is extremely humble and kind. read more

Gamino's is the perfect upholstery shop for people looking for an easy, high quality experience. I'm not certain if they're the cheapest or the best, but they make the stressful process of surrendering your vintage furniture a breeze. Like many Los Angelenos, I purchase midcentury furniture on Etsy and eBay. When it arrives via Greyhound from Utah, it's several hundred dollars cheaper than the vintage shops in LA. However, it usually has scars, scuffs and dated upholstery. Gamino will send their van to your house and schlep your pieces away on the same day. The shop is filled with fabric samples you can sort through in about 30 minutes. They can fix chips, dents, creaks and discolorations. Simple. I've sent three projects to Gamino, gratefully delivered to my place in Los Feliz from Burbank. I don't like thinking about furniture, but I love a great space. At Gamino, you can hand over the wheel and get back to your life. read more

After about 5 years it was showing it's wear and tear and our instinct was to get it redone in something nice and sturdy like real leather. She gave us lots of options and was extremely helpful. We could have purchased fabric/leather somewhere else and had her do the work if that's what would have worked best. In the end she showed us some great, durable fabric that was like leather but much more in line with our budget. The work was done quickly, it looks beautiful, and her estimate was well under any of the other places we looked at. Let me begin by saying Isabel does nice work from what I've seen. I will also say the bad reviews are right about her rude behavior. 1 star for dishonest business. Gamino picked up our sofa & loveseat (which were in good condition and only needing change for design purposes) for reupholstery during a renovation on our building. As renovation goes, we planned on 2-3 months which quickly became 6. We were quoted $20/mo storage fee (in writing) and agreed to it. As time passed, we decided to go in a different direction with the project, to pay the fees we owed for storage & pick the sofa and loveseat up. That's when we were hit with nearly double the price we had been given and agreed to months before. This is after discussing and agreeing to the lower fee on numerous occasion via email, phone and in person. On top of that, they told us we only had a couple days to get our belongings, so it was pay the suddenly doubled and dishonest fee or lose our belongings. Upon pickup, we came with payment in-hand and movers ready. When Isabel opened the door to the van where our belongings were, we noticed damage on the corner of one of our pieces--that's when she started screaming & yelling, locked the van doors and went inside and called police. Mind you I was with a former NEWS ANCHOR and 2 movers with absolutely no record/history with police. We finally got our belongings but what a crazy experience! I believe in fair and honest business, and it's dishonest to jack the prices up when things don't go your way. I've attached screenshots showing the different prices she and her business partner gave us. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give Gamino Decor. Isabelle told me she treats her clients like family and I can attest that is true! In December, our Ashley Furniture couch sprung it's springs! When Isabelle looked into it she said we were lucky it didn't catch fire! She showed me the fabric around the springs had brown spots from friction of us sitting on them. Who knew?? She was able to put new firm cushions in with no springs. It was done to perfection and in the time frame I needed to have it back. Fast forward to today, I just picked up my four reupholstered dining chairs that look stunning! All of the design on the fabric required lots of professionalism, and I think many would not have taken the job, or required me to purchase additional fabric to make the welting. Anyways, the work was professionally done and Gaminos is now my "go-to" upholsterer! Her cost was also 40% less than a bid I received from another firm in La Canada, which my pocket-book appreciates. I was trying to explain what my wife wanted and she was jumping down my throat because I wasn't using the right fashion design terminology. Because several of the cushion inserts were out of balance from over-use, she charged just a few dollars more to add padding to balance them out. Our experience illustrates every reason why I love supporting local businesses. My husband and I are among the many Jennifer Convertable customers whose crappy leather peeled off our sofabed cushions. The frame and mechanisme still worked so we wanted to find an inexpensive way to get the cushiones reupholstered (in a way that worked with the dark brown leather on the sofa's frame and arms). We saw Gamina had a good rating on Yelp and just 10 minutes from our home. Isabel came through with a beautiful black chenille fabric with a lovely gold pattern. We felt it would work on the sofa. Isabel's guidance was amazing, and the quality of work superb. The cushions look fantastic on the sofa! Equally important, Isabel helped us meet our budget and got the work done quickly -- less than a week. She's an absolutely joy to work with. We also had an ottoman that needed one leg fixed (the insert that contains the "threads" which the leg screws into was loosened and fell out during a move last year, and was lost). She was going to do a relatively quick and inexpensive fix with the understanding that it wouldn't be the opitimal solution (i.e. not as strong as going in by pulling off some of the upholstery). We gave her the go-ahead, but in the end she did it the right way, without charging us more. She wanted to do the job right and have the leg housing as secure as possible. That's the level of personal service a local business needs to provide in order to compete against big chains in this uncertain economy. If you want the job done right, go to Gamino. I researched several places for my sectional sofa that needed an uplift. I had about 9 pillows that were flat, a broken zipper on a seat cover and one section of the sofa that the springs were completely broken. Although it was initially hard to get a hold of the owners at first, I can see why. They did an amazing job. My sofa was picked up on a Tuesday and I was told it should take about a week. However, by Friday it was all done and they delivered it back to me. It was like a brand new sofa. All the pillows were firm and professionally stuffed. I am extremely happy with their work. And the owner who helped me, Isabel, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and gave me good direction on how to fix the sofa. Plus, they were very reasonably priced.
