Wow, Isabel and her team are fantastic! They rebuilt a foam cushion that came with a six-year-old high-end designer sofa with complex button stitching. A single cushion on a long sofa with buttons (plus a thick, delicate white fabric) is difficult. I never liked the original cushion -- too soft -- so the folks at Gamino removed the complicated stitching, built an entirely new cushion that's 1000 times better than the original, and re-stitched immaculately. And super fast! Sofa looks brand new but much more comfortable. Super highly recommended. read more

Let me start by saying this was a couple months ago during summer. I should have known something was wrong when I called and all she said was hello?! Like ok is this gaming decor or what.i said maybe it's a bad day for her and proceeded we talked it out and came to an agreement. I go and as soon as I walk in I don't see anybody but here a girl screaming as I walk back I see her grab a lil girls ear. She tried to play it off like nothing happen but I had to speak up for her. It so happen to be it was her daughter, poor lil girl you can tell she was petrified by her so called mother. If I was you I would not do business with a person like that. As one can see from my lack of Yelp reviews, I'm not a big Yelp user. Don't get me wrong, Yelp is fantastic. I just never seem to remember to check reviews or contribute my own. So, it takes truly exceptional service to inspire me to write a review. Which is exactly what my wife and I have received at Gamino Upholstery - Twice! We first hired Isabel last summer to reupholster an antique wing chair for us. The results were fantastic. She picked up and dropped off the chair, expertly handled the large repeat in the fabric and completed the project quickly. And all of that for a very fair price! It's the second chair she did for us that inspired the review though. The second chair was a challenge. In addition to requiring reupholstering, the wood on the arms and the base of the chair needed considerable attention. The decorative end of the left arm had a large chunk missing from it and there were smaller problem areas all along the base of the chair. The quote we received seemed more than fair and Isabel agreed to pick up the chair from a friend in Downtown LA. When we got the chair back 3 weeks later (pretty amazing considering the amount of work required) the upholstery was perfect and the wood was so well done that my wife and I had to check "before" pictures to see which arm had been worked on. As icing on the cake, when we decided that we didn't like the nailheads on the finished chair (our fault not hers), Isabel came back to our house (in West Hollywood), spent time with my wife discussing the nailheads and agreed to replace them and return the chair by the following day. Knowing such a great upholsterer is inspiring. We're already busy dreaming up our next Gamino Upholstery & Decor project! read more

Isabel is a bit difficult to get a hold of but that's probably because she does amazing work. She successfully re-upholstered six of our dining room chairs and went the extra mile to tighten the nuts and bolts that were not touched for the past 18-years! For a small fee, her team picked up the chairs and delivered them back to us within a couple of days. She was professional, sent invoices, and demonstrated excellent craftsmanship. So she re-did the chair (didnt charge me any extra for the extra fabric needed), brought it back and it was much, much better. It took a while to re-do, but the wait was worth it. Because I'd read the great reviews, I traveled to Gamino from Hollywood, the first time to re-cover cushions for a couch and the second time to re-cover some cushions for patio furniture. Isabel and her staff were always a pleasure to deal with, the work was reasonably-priced and first rate, and when I had a problem with some of the cushions because I gave Isabel poor instructions, she took the cushions back and made the adjustment without charge. I had inherited a set of silk, triple-lined window treatments from a friend who decided to remodel his bedroom after only 16 months. They were like new but too long and not--in the case of one of my windows--wide enough. Isabel re-purposed all to fit new lengths and widths by deconstructing and re-building a set of new draperies for my bedroom. For a second bedroom, I provided her with 18 yards of new silk fabric and she created new draperies with lining. Every piece, when finished, fit perfectly as measured (with her detailed instructions) and the end result is really beautiful and exactly what I'd hoped for. I waited 14 years to put beautiful draperies in my two bedrooms and worried they wouldn't be what I'd imagined. Wrong! Isabel is a pro and knows her stuff. She has never even been to my home and she was able to guide the process along to finish by being able to imagine what I'd explained and described. Her prices were more than fair. She's not high nor low in pricing of her work. She's fair and does beautiful, quality work along the way. I am thrilled with the results! I'm very "particular" (some say "picky") and might have been a little more maintenance than most of her clients and all the work was done over the span of 12 months as I'd been distracted with "life" events which delayed my involvement. Isabel patiently worked with my schedule and seemed to know when and when not to gently prod me along. No PotteryBarn or Crate&Barrel window treatments for my house. No comparison to the quality and attention to detail you get with a local business owner and artisan like Isabel who cares for the product they provide. Next? Recently, we had Gamino re-upholster our Mitchell Gold late 90's leather club chair & ottoman (Restoration Hardware) . We shopped several months prior for a new replacement (had 3 different chairs delivered and returned) and the quality and craftsmanship just wasn't anywhere near our originals. I found Gamino on Yelp and reviews were very good. Well I gave them a very tall order, in that the leather had to match the aged, vintage sofa (which didn't need recovering). We are so tremendously happy with our chair and ottoman, it's my husbands favorite chair and he gave it a huge, thumbs up! It's a perfect match with our sofa and the workmanship is solid. It's as good, if not better, as the original. Isabel explained how leather furniture today only has to be a fraction of the real thing to be sold as such. I can attest to this as those chairs we ordered and returned (from Restoration Hardware) were made in China and the color and quality were disappointing. So if you're thinking of tossing out that favorite arm chair, remember they don't make 'em like they used to, and trust Isabel. We did and couldn't be happier. Once she got the leather hides the process only took about 2 weeks. We will definitely use Gamino for any future upholstery needs. read more
