We ordered the Wood rail sofa after spending a lot of time comparing options online. I was nervous about ordering something custom, but I'm glad I finally did it. The wood base feels very solid and you can tell it's real craftsmanship when you see it up close. The cushions are deep but still supportive. I think it which was important since this is our main couch and we wanted it for weekend lounging. The best thing about it is that it doesn't feel mass-produced. I think it has something to do with the overall proportions and the way the upholstery fits into the frame that makes it feel like it was built specifically for our living room space. It took some time to complete since it's made to order, but we expected it. When it arrived, it completely changed the room. We're very happy with it. read more

Would I recommend them? Well lets say a FEW things... Contacted them on ETSY and they were SUPER FAST to send me a payment invoice for an $6K couch in April with a 6 week turn... VERY QUICK to insist on billing me OUTSIDE OF ETSY and cutting them out of their part in the sale too! But once I paid for the couch IN FULL and they STOLE from their ETSY PARTNER... nothing else was a priority. they didn't even communicate or start on my order for nearly 18 weeks and it only happened because of dozens of calls, emails and Etsy messages that mostly went ignored... It's slightly longer and wider than expected so I then could not get it down my hallway. This is a minor problem and I don't hold them too responsible for this but would have been nice to NOT have to hire a contractor to take out and put back in my window to get it in my office... but none the less, gorgeous piece, very nice, comfy... except after a week or three of light use... they made the couch out of multiple leather pieces instead of one (as communicated) and they hid the cut in a pleat with very poor craftsmanship because it isn't overlapped enough and when you sit the pleat opens to expose the couch batting. I DID NOT pay "poor-craftsmanship-on-10%-of-the-product-pricing". nor did I pay "we-don't-deliver-until-you-badger-us-to-death" pricing. Nor did I pay "we-promised-6-to-7-weeks-but-23-should-be-fine-stop-complaining" prices. Nor did I pay "we-don't-respond-to-product-quality-issues-and-you-will-have-to-just-keep-emailing-and-calling-till-we-cave" prices. So in summary... NO... NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Unethical, inconsiderate, bad communicators, do not respect you as a client, and an US-FIRST mentality for fairly luxury priced items. I lost double the value of the couch in my time and irritation easily. read more

But the staff/customer service/owner (it's unclear how their structure is) is a bit unresponsive at times - they say they'll get back to you / follow up but they don't so you have to call again and re-ask your questions, which I find highly annoying as a customer. Plus, it's not like they're a super affordable option, so when you're dropping hundreds/thousands of dollars with them, you expect to be followed up with when they say they will. It's not fancy and some aisles can be a little cramped, but it's really fun to look around and see what you might find. We got a beautiful dresser, exactly what we wanted, and delivery to the San Fernando Valley was reliable and smooth. A couple of years after buying the dresser, I accidentally dropped one of the drawers and cracked the front. I called to see if they could fix it and I was willing to pay. They had me text over a photo, and when they saw it, they told me to drop it off and that they would fix it for free. I was able to pick up the repaired drawer the next day and it looked wonderful. They may not always be the fastest to reply if you call, but they are super nice and responsive when you do get a hold of them. read more

It's one of those winding, charming shops where you wander dreamily from room to room jammed full of lovely mid-century furniture, and then finally discover the warehouse in the back where inventory is stacked ceiling-high. The pieces are both vintage and handmade reproductions, which are very good quality. Prices are comparable to West Elm, which we found very fair, especially since they deliver furniture free within Los Angeles. After having a hard time finding a dresser we loved, we ordered one of their custom handmade walnut dressers. We were able to choose the length and width, plus add on soft-close drawers, which makes the piece feel very high end. It looks beautiful, and was ready in less than three weeks. I used to buy a lot from this store, both for myself and clients. They had unique pieces and knockoffs, more affordable than the big brand stores. I went back recently and to much of my surprise, they're now as expensive as Room & Board or HD Buttercup, without the quality in the finishes or wood. Very disappointing! Most of their pieces are mass produced with low grade wood, simply stained in various finishes... they're surfing on the mid-Century trend and people are buying their cheap stuff like there is no tomorrow. Bought a couch here over the weekend. It's a unique piece - possibly Edward Wormley Sales guy was knowledgable - may have stretched the truth a bit about it being all original - but that's ok. Couches from the 60's probably wouldn't have used staples on the bottom - and the two back legs have been moved out a bit, with the original homes still present. I like the couch before I know it might be "so and so" so whether it is or isn't doesn't matter. It's like anything in life, if you like it, is it worth it to you to pay what the price is? Those negative reviews are wrong! I've been coming to West Coast modern for years now and I haven't been there since they moved to the new location. Some of the negative reviews led me to believe that perhaps things changed, and that just isn't the case. It's still Luis, it's still WCM LA, and it still has the best buys at the best service you could possibly imagine. In fact Luis is coming to my house to look at some damage on a table I bought years ago to see how we can fix it. If that isnt superior customer service then I don't know what some people expect. The chairs I just bought were at a reasonable price, look good and I love them! PS delivery extends to Long Beach and Lakewood. And if you don't like "Old" furniture, they also have some new/custom stuff as well. read more
