I've been researching a lot about Warhammer and wanted to get into the hobby of building and painting the models, so I came here after an event. The shopkeeper on duty, alongside some other visitors, were pretty chill and nice, and I even got to paint a model of a Salamander Primaris Infernus. Learning how to thin the paints for the model and knowing what piece went where was a really great experience. Overall, I had a good time there, and I'd definitely come back here to hobby and even play some games every now and then. If you want to get into the hobby of painting and building the different models while you also live in Union City, this is a great place to do so. read more

I was doing errands with my boyfriend and randomly stumbled into this shop. Tbh, I never played Warhammer game nor do I know much. But the store owner or employee Nate is very friendly and showed us to how paint the miniatures. Apparently first comers get to paint one for free. It was fun and I had to admit this takes a lot of patience/skills! I also love how this is a small shop that services community of people with same passion! Lucas is great! Very customer-facing, articulative, and easily someone you want to help guide you in Games Workshop's (GW's) offerings. Lucas was very helpful and very knowledgeable about all of the intricate facets pertaining to Warhammer. It is not difficult to see the amount of passion behind Warhammer from him. In an attempt to explain this succinctly, Warhammer is a series (multiple series) made by gaming company Games Workshop. Instead of a gaming company making a video game, GW makes it in the form of these tabletop miniatures. Warhammer does in fact have several video games, but GW licenses their IP out to other gaming studios to do it for them, while GW just focuses more on things like the tabletop aspects, lore, etc. This was my first time in the shop and immediately had sensory overload. They've got painting stations, tables to play on, shelves of stock and more. I have always liked Warhammer from reading/watching the lore available online and playing some of their video games (Space Marines/Vermintide/Darktide), but never have been able to do their tabletop since it requires significant investment (relative to just buying a video game), both monetarily and physical space-wise. I love dropping by any Games Workshop store if I'm in the neighborhood, just to check out what they have. This store was buzzing with what sounds like a tight-knit community and one active game going on. The selection is vast and varied and there are plenty of Black Library novels to choose from if you are more into the books than the models. I spoken to Wrench, who was friendly and passionate about the game. His knowledge about the lore was helpful with guiding my interest in the Black Library and I appreciate his honesty in some of the areas of the lore that he wasn't familiar with. I really enjoyed my time here and I'll be going back when I get a chance! read more

Games Workshop in Union City was the first Games Workshop I had ever visited despite likely having spent over 2k on my Warhammer 40k armies. I had promised myself to never purchase MSRP from Games Workshop you could always buy from Amazon for far cheaper. Due to the kind attitude and genuine nature of the store's manager, Wrench, I was absolutely charmed and spend over 400$ at the store the second time I came. I had the desire to support the store where I envisioned myself playing as well as the atmosphere that Wrench had created. Imagine my disappointment hearing that he would no longer be working there. I rate the store well today and plan to return, I hope with new management coming, things remain the same. Whoever comes has big shoes to fill. read more

I just recently got into Warhammer 40k and had only a lil bit of knowledge before coming here. But Wrench answered all my questions about both miniatures and the lore. I also started painting my first mini here with his help, he even showed and taught me how to prime the minis before painting. They even gave my lady a mini to paint as well! This place was over the top amazing, everyone in the store was very welcoming and kind and I ended up buying my first army and all the tools necessary to get them game ready. Whoa. What a different experience walking into this store with the new manager, Lucas. I don't think we've ever been greeted and helped so enthusiastically in any gaming/hobby store. Lucas's knowledge was vast and he basically gave us a painting demo right on the spot. I love that they have an area for you to demo/practice paints. Now that the store is open again and the manager is really helpful, we will be back to buy models and paints for sure. read more

on walk in we could sense we were not welcomed, the person at the counter was agitated when asked questions and didnt seem to want us there at all, no other poc in building but us, and we clearly werent welcomed. this place sucked, drove from the south bay to check it out, it was the complete opposite of the store in los gatos, go there. stay away from here if youre a person of color. read more

Typical Corporate worker. Looks like a young lad. Definitely out of touch on how to perform and how to service. It was like talking to a carboard robot. My friend wanted to learn how to paint grey knights. The guy just says "Well our demo is just about ultra marines" Thats not customer service. The guy before helped me learn how to paint Blood Angels. Showed me how to prime with a rattle can and all that. All my buddy got was, "Here you can paint this blue boy" thats about it. Doesn't even know how to talk to people. Guy was even more rude when i was setting up and playing a game with someone I didn't know, a great opponent yet this new guy kept hovering and tried to push sales in a subtle way by showing me a box while I was playing. I wont spend money in this store unless i need to. There are better prices and discounts elsewhere. This place used to be THE HUB for many people. Now its not anymore. Its been out of service for too long and this new guy is not up to snuff. read more

The store has everything you need to start entering into the world of Warhammer. I had a nice time chatting with Lucas, and he was able to give me some solid painting advice. Lucas was so helpful that I left the store with $250 worth of stuff. I will definitely be coming back again soon to visit and order more items. Holy moly what a great experience I had here. Lucas, the new manager, was AMAZING. I've been eager to get into this hobby for years but had no idea where to begin. With seemingly limitless kindness and professionality, Lucas spent over an hour teaching me how to assemble and paint miniatures. He walked me through everything: I went from cutting out pieces from sprues to gluing to priming to painting. He was a remarkable introduction to Games Workshop and I'm more excited than ever to voyage further into the grim darkness of the far future. read more

I used to go to this games Workshop and stopped becouse of mismanagement of the store and community. The community was getting cliquey, the manager had some strang ideals that was voiced a little (probably a understatement) too much. However I went back in becouse I made a preorder and it went to this store instead of my San Jose store. It looks like this place has done a 180 with Noah! The community is thriving and everyone was happy, Noah has brought in new blood and maybe letted some of the old. Noah himself seems to be a really nice guy. Keep it up man. read more

This store is flat out amazing with Noah being the biggest part of it. I walked in to the store today as born-again Newbie as I used to play Warhammer 40k for over a decade but haven't been involved in the hobby for the past 10 years. With Noah helping me to understand how things have changed whether that be the rules, the miniatures, the hobby itself, or Games Workshop as a whole I left the store with a revitalized spirit for the game that was a huge part of my life. Based on how he described the gamers who frequent the store, I can see them as a reflection of what makes this hobby so amazing - a combination of gaming, modeling, painting, a love of the lore, and a welcoming community; I can't wait to come back to not only chat, but to finally get back into the game that I've yearned to play for nearly a decade. This place is great and anybody interested in the hobby should come, the manager David is a great guy, there's always someone in the store who can give you tips on painting or playing, also there's almost always someone looking for a game, and there's always an event of some kind on the weekends. The guy running the store now -- Noah -- is fantastic. He's friendly and keen to get to know his customers, and his intro to the hobby is something to be seen-- so much enthusiasm! He really gets into the game, and draws in everyone around him, getting newcomers excited and eager to take part. He's been very forthcoming and inclusive, happy to invite folks to come into the store to run their games when they perhaps don't have much opportunity at home. In short, I think GW Union Landing is in great hands. In nearly 30 years of the hobby, I think this is my favorite store, and certainly the most fun to visit. Closest store to Dublin ever since the Stoneridge store closed; traffic to and from store sucks, but that's 880 for u, and it's hours aren't the greatest but that's not such a big deal. read more

Am I too fetch to write this review? Umm yeah. Games Workshop is nothing new. The type of place, you'll find misfits who enjoy hoarding/painting minatures. My b/f and I went in here after eating at Gerry's Grill. I went in there, the employee approached me and asked me if I wanted to know more about the stuff. I said, "not really". I enjoy looking at the art in the Warhammer 40k books, but would I spend my money on this stuff? HELL NO. The people there are nice. It reminds me of the crowd at Berkeley Eudomonia. These people are lifelong geeks, high school students, etc who are looking for an escape. But I went in here on a lark and have no desire to spend my money on this stuff. read more

Bear in mind, people, THIS IS A WARHAMMER STORE. That's all they do... That's the point! If you don't LIKE Warhammer, 40K, or LotR, this isn't your store... However... I've been keen on getting into Warhammer lately, and I was very pleased to find this store so close to where I live. The store itself is very roomy, and very clean - overall, a very inviting feel. My girlfriend and I were greeted right away by a friendly staff member, Robin, who led us through a couple of fun demos. He was very helpful, had a answer for all my questions about the product, and generally put us at ease. We didn't ever feel pressured into buying anything, but definitely left with a lot of info to think over. I haven't been for any events yet, but it's looks like there's always something going on, and I'm excited to stop back for Beginner Sunday sometime soon. My only warning, they close down everyday at 2:30 for lunch, so time your visit accordingly. read more

We drove an hour away to get to this store and I could not be happier with my experience. Not only did it have everything stocked that we wanted but the person working there was awesome. Was waiting for tires to get put on and wandered over here. I had heard of Warhammer but never played or learned how to do it. The manager Noah was awesome... He offered to teach me how to play. I agreed and picked to be the bad guys. We played a few rolls of the dice and Noah got super descriptive with how my guy was mauling his character. I enjoed how Noah was so involved in what he was telling me. Noah was informative and friendly. I enjoyed the free lesson on the game... Do stop by and support them. Great service read more

Once every few years, I get the itch to 'get my geek on'. Recently a new Games Workshop opened up in the area and I've always wanted to get into Warhammer 40k. I bounced in and out of the store a few times, and combined with some online reading, I decided to jump in. I've played similar games competitively and knew what I was getting into. Re: the store, the size compared to a mall store is great with enough room to cater to the different elements of GW gaming (3 tables for playing, a modeling/painting station, and of course all the merchandise). I'm a fan of the GW mall stores too, but at times it gets crowded. Union City DOES NOT have this problem. Re: staff / community, I only know of two people working here (Greg and Daniel), but both are great and know their stuff. For me, its the little bits of info you gain by talking to them (i.e. best way to x, rules clarifications, etc) that are the most valuable and these guys have a lot of insight. Also, they're constantly encouraging activity with anyone who walks in. Whether you're into the playing side of things or the modeling/painting, there are various in-store sessions you can sign up. Unfortunately for me, work and kids prevent me to commit to a regular time, but when I get a free 1-2 hour window (i.e. kids sleeping, wife takes kids shopping, no extra work, etc), I feel comfortable just walking in and hanging out (painting, learning, etc). There are a hand full of 'regulars' too, all of which are friendly and are very knowledgeable - I currently can't hang with the level of strategy/tactical discussions yet, because I'm still new, but will get there soon. Re: events - I've yet to go to one of these, but there is a regular calendar filled with events and imagine it would be a lot of fun. I just wish the store was open later for late night play groups, but that's more my issue then theirs...In all, I'll probably end up being one of the regulars (pending time). read more

This is a great location. The store is a bit small but makes up for it with its managements. The store manager is a great guy. Very knowledgable and will take time to come over from what he's doing to help you out in painting or in your game. It was a bit of a drive for me considering I came all the way from Sunnyvale cause the other location in San Jose closed down. But def will be making the trek to this location at least on the weekends. Def would recommend any person to come and and see what this place is about or even any returning GW players to come check this store out :) read more

I go to this store frequently. Robin is always helpful, polite, friendly, and always get a laugh out of me. There is almost always someone painting, modeling, or playing. The selection of Fanasty Warhammer models is great. I just wish the seats were more comfortable. read more
