For Christmas, our son's grandparents gifted him a giant wall decal but since we are renters, we wanted to put it on a plexiglass rather than straight on the wall. TAP plastics was able to cut a piece for us and even cut drill holes. Very fast and great customer service. I am hella disappointed. My acrylic mirror was cut a little short. We made the choice to keep it to save them from cutting another piece and wasting product. When we peeled off the cover protection piece the mirror was scratched all the way across the piece. I paid $48 for a scratched mirror. Too late to return as it's for a Father's Day present. Went to Fremont store to get acrylic sheet for a DIY, David and other staffs are so nice and the service is fantastic, recommend the place.

I needed a piece of 1/4" ABS cut to 9 3/4" x. 18 1/2". That cost was $22. I get that material prices have gone up and they have to make money on small pieces. Fair enough...no issue with that. I timed the fabrication guy in the back and from the time he picked up the raw material, measured, made the cuts and placed it in my hand, it was an impressive 41 seconds. Super cool. I then asked, "If I measure and mark 3 straight lines I need cut (2 of them under 5"), how much will that be? The guy looked right at me and said $25 labor. They used to charge $1 a cut for these type of straight cuts and eventually made it to just under $2 years later. He wanted $8.33 per cut!!! Based on what I saw moments beforehand(even when he had to measure) these 3 cuts, already marked and measured for him, would likely have only taken him 60 seconds total. Even if it took him 2 minutes, $25 for 2 minutes means he thought his time was worth $750/hr. You're good, but not that good. I can make them at home with what I have just as nicely in less than 10 minutes. My advice...buy your raw materials from them for one-off pieces, but don't rely on them to help you otherwise...it is highway robbery. read more

Called to ask a quick question as I was on my way there. Found out they were going to close in 10 minutes. Walked into the store five minutes before closing and was out two minutes before they were going to close. These guys are fast, know what they're doing, and had great customer service. I definitely don't make it a habit of trying to go in at the last second before a place closes but as a mama with two small kids in the car being turned away in that moment would've been hard. WhoO, boy! I've held off on writing this review bc I was loyal to working with the SJ TAP Plastics folks. Yup, I used to drive down to SJ, but this store has become the best TAP Plastics in the Bay Area ever since Gretchen stepped in. The vibe here has changed for the better! Gretchen is always excited about new project ideas and shows you the latest thing she's working on for the store display. You won't leave the shop w/o hearing her say "Ooh come here, I got to show you something" and then you're find yourself thinking: Why yes, I DO need a sheet of neon green acrylic in my life. Issac and Stephanie are great too, I worked with them to make a custom makeup organizer for my narrow bathroom cabinets. It was 5 minutes before closing time on FRIDAY and these guys stayed late to cut the job, gave me advice on how to glue it properly and even gave me practice pieces, I was thrilled! Gretchen showed me a piece that looks just like glass when you add a polish to it and there's even a frosted one that looks very classy. Love working with these guys, thank you!! I purchased a used accent table at a local thrift shop that was missing the glass insert; comparable glass tops run from 41.00 and up. TAP Plastics in Fremont to the rescue for a fraction of what I would've paid. Gretchen helped me from start to finish. She let me bring the accent table in the store, it's alwats better to MEASURE TWICE...CUT ONCE (remnants of watching too much HGTV). It had to be custom cut, and to my surprise it was ready to go out the door in minutes. She threw in 2 coasters free of charge. How AWESOME is that??? I will be returning for future projects. Just want to say that TAP Plastics in Fremont really took care of me with an important and needed purchase. My credit card was frozen due to a fraudulent red flag that showed up the previous night. Went in to replace a piece of glass that had broken in a frame - the service was friendly, professional and fast. I got in when both employees were preoccupied with other customers but they both acknowledged me which was very nice. The gentleman that was working was helping an older man and he was so thorough in ensuring that man had all he needed that the customer tried to tip him! If you have never been here its hard to understand how often this place comes in handy. The store is filled with all sorts of plastic nick nacks and parts. You can buy materials to create/repair your own items but where this place really shines is in fabrication. I came to TAP on recommendation from a sales person from a local aquarium store. With some measurements and explaining to the sales person what I wanted, they were able to make a perfect lid to go with my beautiful new rimless saltwater aquarium, so that my kitties don't get into it. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and accurate. They were able to easily understand what I was looking for and were able to get my order done in an hour! They are also very reasonably priced. I'm leaving a 5 star review based upon the EXCELLENT customer service I received by Ashley. HOWEVER, the manager (I didn't catch her name) was extremely rude. During my whole visit, I can see the manager behind the counter with her arms crossed with a "are you going to buy something" look on her face. The manager accidentally rang me up for an incorrect price and I simply asked the cost per foot. That was the moment the manager got defensive with my questioning. I simply stated the item I was purchasing so a correction can be made. Corrections were made but they've could've been done with a little less attitude. In my opinion, I KNOW the atmosphere in this store can be greatly improved upon with the correct personnel as management (I vote Ashley). read more
