Imagine going shopping for a car, and the sales team convinced you to buy an extended car warranty, promises to fix whatever issue you have with your new car. You bring your car back in a few months later and the dealership said they can't honor that warranty no longer bc they send an email saying that they changed their terms of services and can't refund you that warranty that you brought bc all warranty sales are final. This is what this GameStop did. A few months ago, the store employee convinced my daughter to buy a warranty with her PS5 controller. Stating that if there's anything wrong with it within the year, just bring it in for a new controller. This was their "EXACT" words. A few months later, she brought it back in and they apologized stating that they changed their policy and that my daughter should have received an email back in October that they can't exchange for a new item anymore. GameStop are liars and have deceptive business practices!!! 1) what's the point of having warranty if you're not going to honor it and then refusing to refund me the money that I brought the warranty? 2) I don't care if I received an email, a letter, or even if you send Moses with the change of services craved in stone, you are basically lying about your business practices! read more

I recently had a bad experience at the Gamestop in Vallejo with the manager. I called on 4/28/23 around 1 p.m. to see whether or not they had a power brick for the Xbox 1( I have Series X but I wanted to still use my Halo edition 1 that my wife bought me ).  I spoke to an associate who said he had it in stock which I was very pleased to hear but I did express concern that I read a few reviews that the Gamestop brick had a lot of issues so I asked what is the return policy. This is where it gets interesting. He went from being a happy associate to a very rude employee. He said in an obnoxious voice: "Full refund but you have to prove its not working." I asked "What do you mean prove? Like you want me to bring my Xbox in and show that it's not working? If that's the case I can bring it in and to see if it works" He started to get more upset and said no I will open the power brick up test it with a console here so if it doesn't work on your console your stuck with it because I proved that it works " I asked may I please speak to the Store Manager because at this point he was almost yelling. He said he was. Ok. I'm not going to argue with a kid with a power trip. I'm not going to get upset and I just won't do business with that location. I literally went to a Gamestop location with better customer service. I bought the brick, reserved a game for the Switch for my kids and left happy. Btw the power brick works. I worked with the manager at the Emeryville location who by the way is Great.  This is why the Vallejo location is losing its in person customer base because of bad customer service from the Store Manager who supposed to be the example and face of the store. Wait a minute...there is a Gamestop in Vallejo? It is awesome that there is a Gamestop in Vallejo and that it is located in a decent shopping center...next to Panera Bread. Here what I like about Gamestop...if I don't want to go inside Costco I can go here instead. I get friendly service at this location which they take the time to answer my questions. Since the COVID-19 pandemic they have limited 5 people inside at a time. I don't blame them since it is a small location. The only Gamestop in Vallejo which is OK. I doubt Vallejo would put another Gamestop in the area...not even in Benicia. At least I don't have to go to Fairfield to go to Gamestop since there is one in Vallejo. read more

My son was turning 11 and wanted an X-box. Not knowing anything about gaming I sought information online. There is too much information and for everything I learned I became confused about something else. I went to GameStop and learned that the Xbox s and x series were nowhere to be found. A search online and call to bestbuy confirmed the scarcity of the product. But I was impressed with the gamestop employees willingness to coach me on product I couldn't buy from him. I found the series s online at a premium and bought it in time for my sons birthday. Then Christmas rolls around and I find myself needing gifts the week before the blessed holiday. My son had asked for a headset so he can further detach from reality. I didn't want to get a cheap set so I went to GameStop to get the input of an expert. We find a high quality headset with a cool look and I make the purchase. My son loves the headset, remarking on how comfortable they are. I love the service I get from GameStop employees. While I was there I also got a Loki hat, Loki t-shirt, Spider-Man socks, and a gift card. I want to support GameStop as they have supported me. read more

This location gives out faulty products that start not working in a month. The company has a 15 day return policy because they know they have expensive products that are purposely designed to break as well as that their customer service is attrocious, unwilling to help you with your issues, and they have a limited selection of products to pick from . Worst shopping experience ever!! Prior to Black Friday I was told all PlayStation consoles would be $50 off. When arriving on Black Friday...at 5am, not only was my purchase full price but was told the discount was for Xbox. Okay. Bought the digital bundle, or so I was told, which included God of War. When I realized there was no God of War Game included I called the store. They told me to call Sony. Sony asked why I was calling them and not dealing with the store. I go back into the store and was told that was a separate bundle. Well played GameStop. My shit experience with your store is the last. read more

Today is my B-Day! And I was gifted a Nintendo Switch. Having only been on PlayStation consoles I was a bit hazy on info regarding the Nintendo platform. Lexi was so helpful! They don't answer the phone. And when I get there at 12:30 they said they don't do trade ins until 2:30pm and that's store policy. I wouldn't have wasted my gas if they just answered the phone, not like they were busy. Went back at 6pm and they were closed even though they're supposed to close at 9 according to google. I walked in, headed to the Xbox 360 racks, located Ratatouille and searched for the Spiderwick Chronicles, a game that my friend recently helped create the artwork for. I found both quite easily and headed over to the register. Me and my friends pre-ordered Gran Blue Fantasy Versus and they told us we're able to pick up copies March 2nd the day before the official release. They didn't have enough copies for the people who pre-ordered. This was poor customer service, especially a worker with the name Kayla. This is why I hate going here. Would not recommend. read more

This time I was going to pick up the Animal crossing Nintendo switch. I had spoken to the closing manager guy that confirmed the switch was being held there for me. This Game stop rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. Between three people, including someone from another Game stop location, we called over 90 times, to no avail. The phone would ring, and ring, and then go to a mail box that was full. It was a little infuriating, since I was calling to make sure they actually had a game in stock, because their system showed they had one. I decided to risk the drive, and head over to the store. When we confronted one of the employees, who barely looked for the game I wanted, about the store's phone system, she looked dumbfounded. When we called the store on speaker, and she witnessed firsthand what we were talking about, she looked even more lost. She passed issue along to Andrew, who not only seemed more concerned than his co-worker, but also thoroughly checked to see if my game was in stock, which it was. Even though the situation was irritating, Andrew did what he could to make up for it, plus he seemed genuinely sorry about it. As other reviewers have mentioned, the store employees do seem more concerned with chilling and chatting with friends over helping customers. They have a large selection of games, which is nice, but that's not worth making the drive over. read more

Overall ok place. However one worker kills the whole atmosphere. He's the short white guy with short hair. He is extremely rude and just doesn't want to do any business. I brought 5 friends over to spend over $1500 on new consoles and games but decided to walk out because of this guy. He must have a personal vendetta against customers or must be secretly working for Best Buy in order to drive customers toward that store. I came here twice last week in different days and they were different employees during those days. It seems like the employee's here LOVE to keep a line up for so long. I see someone either at the back room for so long and one person in the cash register helping somebody for half an hour while they were 10-12 people in line waiting to get helped. The second time I came back to return a video game and there was a long line again with one person at the front helping somebody. We've waited for almost half an hour again while the other dude was at the floor fixing the games on the racks for a long time and he saw how long the line was and people standing waiting for so long and didn't care to help us! The Benicia location hands down is one of the best Gamestop store in the 5mi radius. Customer service are on top of their game! This location NEEDS new management. They need to be more sufficient! and it would be nice to be acknowledged as well. The Customer's who was helped on those two different days were the ones who apologized for the long wait when its supposed to be the EMPLOYEE'S job. SMH bad customer service. Where money comes to die. Never been sold out of a new release, staff is comprised of gamers (at least one for sure), knowledgeable on their own promotions, pretty good used selection. PC selection is so so but that is what Steam and Fry's are for. read more

For one when I walked in was never greeted but the person before me and after me did also while I'm waiting in line no one acknowledged me so I just said forget it and will never shop there again . I was pretty harsh about this location when I reviewed it almost 3 years ago. I wanted a game they only had at this location which I was hesitant to do because the last time they told me there was an item here, but turns out it wasn't there. So, I reserved the game and called before I left to make sure it was there. The employee who answered was very polite and understood what I needed. A minute later she verified my game was there, which was great. I came in and there were three people in the front. The line moved pretty quick although I will say I was a bit saddened to see that they don't have a visible PS Vita section! They should definitely display them and maybe more people would buy some Vita Games! Lol. Pre-ordered GTA5. Didn't get a call, didn't get my copy! Was told they don't always call. For the amount I pay for a Gold Membership card, expected at least an automated text or for them to actually hold my copy... Instead I was told by a glib teenager that they don't always call for prerelease, even though I've always received a call! Not even an offer of discount on a regular copy. Same teenager also had to explain to a dad at the store why he gave away the game he ordered for his son and in the same breath try and sell him a completely different game. My recommendation is to go to any other Game Stop, except this one. read more

After enjoying some tasty burrito specials at Rubios, my son, the gamer, begs if he can go look around here--one of his fave places. I meet him over there and decide to give it a try by asking if they had "Wii Fit" They had it!! I have been looking online and at other local places since Cmas but it's been sold out. Or they had it online but the prices were still way too elevated, etc. So then she tells me it is only $89 bucks!! SCORE! We get it and are on our way. The two working there were so totally nice. Plus I was telling them how I appreciate their website too. They were the only ones to finally have Mario Kart online back in October and the prices fair too. I usually don't like GameStops because the workers are normally jerks and they act as if they're all knowing about video games but this GameStop has always been great. They don't seem to be too pushy with the traditional GameStop BS and the workers appear to actually have knowledge about games. Other stores I've been to have had ignorant workers not knowing jack squat about what they're trying to peddle and this store seems to be ran by actual gamers. Nothing more to say aside from the ton of parking and great plaza. It's not really that different from other GameStops but the workers are great. read more

I see they had a computer go down and about 20 minutes into me standing in line the manager comes out the back and tells the other employee to do something and disappears again. I use this store mostly to pick up my online orders. They have a good selection and deals on used games. I like the location. Its conveniently located close to restaurants so we can stop by when we are out there to eat. I would agree with many of the other reviewers about the customer service though. Nothing new here, same problems everyone else seems to have with this location. I could sense a lot of negative tensions when going inside this location. I went in once and the 2 employees there were just saying passive aggressive things to each other making me feel super uncomfortable. On pretty much every occasion, it's literally like everyone else says, at times it seems like they are make you wait for absolutely no reason. They are passive aggressive and spiteful when you have trade ins or returns. They make up ridiculous policies. I mean come on, am I really not allowed to hold a controller and inspect it before I purchase it? It truly is unbelievable how terrible their customer service is. I wonder how much money and business they're gonna lose before the higher ups finally re evaluate their training. I used to work at a GameStop, got to say this is one of the best stores I've ever been to, though it is a little bit on the smaller side that doesn't stop it from carrying the games your looking for. Though since it is smaller it can be a little bit on the busy side that has never once affected my customer service that I received while shopping in the store. I come to the store on almost an weekly basis to check out the used section, reserve a game, or trade in some that I do not play any longer. Always have had a knowledgeable employee/manager help me with what I needed and to ask any questions I have asked. So you only show 2 stacks (about 25 on the counter) of preorder COD WW2 Valor but can't sell the extras they usually do. I've been going to this Gamestop for years and to be lied to in my face is BS. Only preorder and everytime I been asked if I preordered I said no and this is the answer I get all the time "we always have extra anyways, I can sell you one". Well this time around didn't happen.
