So fun and unique. Came here with someone I was meeting for the first time and we had a blast. Games were a good mix of mental and physical. Lots of figuring things out and collaborating. We sucked but took it in stride and still had a really good. Currently there are 6 gaming rooms, though more rooms are in the works. The games offered in each room change depending on how many people are in your group. And there are different levels, so once you beat the game, you can return to the same room to advance to the next level. If you fail, you leave the room for it to reset and then can return to try again as many times as you want. I'd never done escape rooms or anything like this, and was really impressed at the sophistication and technology. You get 1 hour and 45 minutes to play, and time flies fast. Came on a Friday night at 8pm and there were only about 2 other groups. Free parking in lot. The man showing us around (Tim?) was really nice. Overall a great experience to try. Game On was such a different experience than anything I've ever done! I came with one other person and one of the owners (out of 3) told us the amount of people you go with affects the games. Layout: There are several game rooms that have multiple levels, so you can return the same room to play a different game after you beat the other levels. One reason I am not giving 5 stars was because one of the rooms was glitching early on and after that my friend and I were very skeptical about if the games were "working properly" since none of the games really explain the rules. We also didn't love the Communication room because I personally got creeped out by the humanoid Alice in Wonderland people/animal/creature things. I did enjoy most of the other games and my partner really enjoyed the rope/physical game! I definitely think this place has so much potential, since there are still many rooms and levels to be built! We went here with a group of 10 for a company outing, and it was such a fun and interactive experience! It's about $40 per person for 90 minutes of gameplay, and the escape rooms were quite challenging, in the best way. Since the rooms are smaller, we split into two teams, which made it perfect for team-building, communication, and friendly competition. The place is clean and well-organized, with lockers, nice bathrooms, and two lounge areas where you can relax, eat, or hang out with your group before or after your game, and they can even be reserved for parties or private events. Came here with my family of 4 (2 teens), and we had a blast. We enjoy games, puzzles and escape rooms, so this seemed up our alley while still being something "different" that we've never done before. We beat at least level 1 on all the rooms except one--the marble contraption. I enjoyed that there was a good mix of skills required in each of the rooms. Some of the physical ones really tired me out! I think this would be a good birthday party activity for 7/8th grade kids and above, as long as they're semi-mature and the type of kids that enjoy puzzles. read more

Went here a few weeks ago with some UC Berkeley colleagues and it had such a fun time! I would describe it as a multi-room puzzle experience, but you honestly have to see it for yourself. A great alternative to escape rooms with much more variety and still challenging for adults. All the rooms are differently themed with intricate mechanics, decorations, and sensory details, A great date night activity, but also a viable option for staff retreats or group community building. They also offer a space with tables for eating/drinking. Discount for students as well which is always a plus in a college town. Honestly I haven't had this much fun in a while and I'll definitely be back! The owners are so nice and really make this an immersive experience with attention to detail. I visited a few weeks back with some friends and didn't quite know what to expect. I was delightfully surprised by how much fun it was! I play a lot of videogames, have worked in VR and done a lot of VR experiences, and I enjoyed this considerably more than the VR experiences I've had. Instead of virtual immersion, it was actual immersion--solving puzzles with friends in-person. The games were challenging but in a way that it really pushed our group to work together to communicate to solve the physical and mental puzzles. We'd try, fail, then figure out new solutions, feeling a tremendous amount of personal reward when we figured it out. The folks that run Game On were really nice and I really appreciated how much they were excited about the games too. It was fun dorking out with them and talking about what the games reminded us of and the things that inspired them. All in all, we had a blast and I'd definitely recommend this to any group of friends, family, or coworkers looking for a fun and novel activities! read more

!!!!! Best business in Berkeley, hands down. As a puzzle lover, I can't recommend Game On enough. This is a must-visit spot if you enjoy riddles, brain teasers, escape rooms, and the like. All ages welcome! Excited for what they're building next. My bf booked us a visit for a date night with no idea what to expect. The pictures online don't do the experience enough justice-- this is SO COMPLICATED LOL. AND SO FUN. I can't even imagine the combined creativity, engineering wizardry, dedication, and sheer intelligence it takes to build physical puzzles like this. HUGE PROPS TO THE FOUNDERS :D Our reservation was around 2 hours long. We were welcomed by one of the founders, James (?), who walked us through what to expect and provided a key card lanyard for our locker and game room access. After watching an intro video and stowing our things away, we had free rein to explore the rooms. There's currently 6 rooms, with puzzles specific to the number of players you have in your group (2-4); and for each group, there are 2 levels you can play. So, the next time we come back with friends, there will be entirely new puzzles to do. Each room has unique puzzles that utilize different senses and require vastly different solutions. The key cards log your progress as you go. You can attempt the rooms as many times as you like-- for us, we solved one level in 1 go, while another took us 9 LOL. We were using all brain cells today :') We took the entire reserved time and still had 1 whole room untouched. And they still have tons of rooms in progress!!!!! Ten out of five stars. The second the new rooms open, we are HAULING ASS to come back. When we left, I went to their site and hit subscribe to that newsletter SO FAST. NOTE: Expect some physical activity-- would recommend sneakers and breathable clothes. Some rooms will get you working up a sweat. Doable in sandals (like me lol) but I would try something more agile! read more

Holy frijoles, I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had here. I brought my 13-year old twins. Within two hours we were able to knock out every room and every level EXCEPT the dark room. It took us the full two hours to finish the other rooms. The rooms are incredibly clever and in some cases, diabolical. Without giving away anything, we tried one room five times and failed immediately each time. My son then said, "Hey, why don't we just......" Once we did what he said, we nailed it. We hosted our daughter's 11th birthday party there last weekend and everyone had a great time! The games are challenging for that age group (but not impossible) and needed some adult support. It was wonderful to see them work together and communicate in order to overcome the challenges. Recently went here with a group of 4. Game On is the institution that we have all been searching for, here in the Bay Area. We're a group of puzzle loving, high-strategy board game playing, athletes - Game On challenges all of our interests. We've been to Boda Borg and Level 99 in Boston, as well as Bam Kazam in Scottsdale, AZ. This place is a home grown version of all those other locations. We had a brief chat with one of the founders, Eric, who gave us a sneak peak of one of the upcoming rooms. In a way, Game On is even more impressive than those other institutions as it's a small business with a small team. So much goes into each room design, layout, puzzle, code, and storytelling that it's hard not to want this place to continue success, especially because there's really none like it anywhere around here. Entering Game On transports you to a world where you are inside video games! All the games are hand built and designed by the talented owners - so impressive! It really feels like you're playing a video game, but in person. Each room has multiple levels of difficulty so once you best the first stage, you can enter again and level up! Would highly recommend coming here for a date night, birthday party, corporate event, or hanging out . I think there's a solo mode too! They're looking for volunteers to help build out even more rooms and levels and I'm seriously considering it-- the prospect of contributing to such an amazing project sounds epic! We held our kids' 14th birthday here with a total of maybe 15 kids and we had 1-2 adult groups too! Everyone had a blast. The boys loved this more than the escape room parties we've held, and want to come back to get through level 2/3! We ordered some of their pizza and some fruit plates. Went on the 26th with a big group of family looking for a post holiday activity. Our group ranged from ages 10 to 80 and we divvied up into teams (with the college-age cousin supervising the pack of feral early-teen boys) and had a blast. We got through level one on most of the rooms, levels two on some of them, and want to come back to try the other levels and rooms. The games are fun and inventive and challenging but I will say something I especially appreciated about it is the way the rooms reward collaborative discussion among the group, and encourage a tolerance for failure as the route to success. Not every member of our group could get in and they had a lovely time in the lounge area where the beer and non-beer selection is pretty good. Anyway, a great time for groups and really fun for big family clumps. read more

We are so grateful to the team at Game On for providing a fun and memorable experience for our son's birthday! We brought a large group, which we worried might even be too large ... since packs of middle school boys can get feral. But the kids had a blast exploring and playing, and we had a blast hearing them laugh and walk around exclaiming "This is so awesome!" They willingly put their phones/devices into lockers and stayed engaged in the puzzle rooms, exploring the place for the full 2+ hours, and they all seemed delighted and lit-up the whole time. There was zero whining, zero "I'm bored," and lots of giggling and friendly competition. The games are challenging and brain-teasing even for adults, so if you're reading this and thinking about having a party for kids, know that it's challenging and the rooms do take concentration and focus. I think all ages can have fun there, and our group loved it, but it's definitely geared toward older teens and adults. They have beer on tap and a nice hang space, so it would be a fun date night and an AWESOME spot for a work mixer. Love love love! Found Game On, on yelp while trying to find something fun for couples. My boyfriend and I came here and had a fun time trying to figure out each room. There's six rooms currently available but many more to be added in the future. Each game is uniquely it's own. You get a locker to put your items in, as well as a card that you scan to get into the locker and each room. We're not very social people and we aren't big drinkers, so this place was perfect for us! We got to enjoy quality time together but were able to enjoy being out of the house without having to be with people. We will be back soon! read more
