We went here with a group of 10 for a company outing, and it was such a fun and interactive experience! It's about $40 per person for 90 minutes of gameplay, and the escape rooms were quite challenging, in the best way. Since the rooms are smaller, we split into two teams, which made it perfect for team-building, communication, and friendly competition. The place is clean and well-organized, with lockers, nice bathrooms, and two lounge areas where you can relax, eat, or hang out with your group before or after your game, and they can even be reserved for parties or private events. There's also a small parking lot out front, which is super convenient. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and overall this was a great outing that I'd definitely recommend!

You are welcome to bring your own food from the outside but just no drinks which is a great way to keep the party going with friends. Though my buddy got kicked out, the bouncers were nice enough to kick him out respectfully - that is for being a bit too drunk. Love you guys for that and please don't ever give the bouncers are hard time. :)

However, it seemed like the event was misinterpreted and I ended up going elsewhere to watch the game. I was in line for about 10 minutes and it didn't move, which isn't a huge issue because the line was crowded. The girl behind me went to see what was happening at the entrance. She came back and said they were charging $25 per person to enter. She also mentioned that Emporium's system was down and they were accepting Zelle payments instead of card payments. This was extremely confusing as the flyer advertised that all World Cup matches would be shown on the 50ft. screen and entry would be free. We were pretty annoyed by this since we drove up from the South Bay. I wish communication on the flyer and on the website had been more clear. It also would've been helpful had someone from Emporium went outside to inform everyone in line that there was a fee for entry and that their system was down. Thankfully I was only in line for about 15 minutes and was able to Uber over to Hi Tops to watch the game. I'd like to try visiting again on another day because the place looks super cool. Who doesn't love a Bar-cade?!

Great addition to downtown Hayward. Perfect for kids - it a smaller version of chuck e cheese…read more I love this place and want it to succeed. Hayward is an underdog city - and this is such a unique space. If I was the mayor of Hayward I would shine a light on this place as I think its an important piece of the city. I live just 2 blocks away and have never gotten any note on my front door or advertisement or coupon. I think that is a shame. If I was head of marketing for this business I would place a flyer under every door mat in a 5 or 10 block radius. This is a missed opportunity for core customers. There are new high rise buildings also popping up - a huge senior building - why not a special flyer offering seniors discounts if they show up for an early bird dinner? Often times you can also tell if kids live in any given home in the neighborhood. There are kiddie pools, tiny shoes left out front, bikes thrown around in the front yard - these homes should be targeted even more aggressively with fliers and some sort of incentive to come in. Another huge problem with this place is the lack of emphasis on ease of 'searchability' of the place. I had lived so close since 2016 and had not known about the place until maybe 2020 during the pandemic. How is that possible? It's all about not knowing this is an arcade. Sector 19 doesn't mean anything to me. It should be called 'Sector 19 Arcade' so that people can find it with a Google or Waze search. The arcade is clean and bright and fun for little kids. Its a safe place too - where parents can hang outside more in the restaurant part and not worry they wandered off - there is only one way out. The arcade needs to be front and center - this is why people come. Pizza House or Susie Qs have no competition in this arena.... so lean in on this. I will say that a Susie Qs has an edge with food quality - so again, more reason to make the family friendly atmosphere the center of attention.

So the front room has the oldest machines and subsequent rooms get progressively newer machines. For the 1 time fee you get unlimited play (so no digging for quarters), there are in and out privileges so you can play, leave to eat etc, and return to play some more. The staff is very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Only a few machines weren't working, but they had signs so you knew, but almost all of them were working and available to play. Also each machine had a sign that gave some history regarding the art design/layout, or how the particular machine was unique/different etc. I tried to read more of the descriptions but got too caught up in just playing them that I didn't read and learn as much as I should have. Next time I come back I will try to read a bit more. The info provided was actually pretty interesting but I got dazzled by all the blinking lights and sounds. So fun! Speaking of sound- there is enough space between each machine that you aren't drowned out by the other machines or players. There are several rooms of machines so people can spread out. The only thing I would have changed is it is very dark inside (I am guessing to keep the place cool) so it was a little hard to see the action with my aged eyes. Younger people won't have any problems. I am guessing also this place must look amazing at night. We were there mid afternoon. The room with the older machines was nice and bright which was nice. The newer machines are in darker rooms to add to the mood? As we were there on a Friday afternoon, not too many kids/teenagers, but don't know what the clientele would be after school. Street parking is pretty good and there is off street metered parking around the corner. This is a fun place and I will come back and bring visitors.

Pricing is on the higher side but man those claw machines are a bust, we kept trying and could not win anything, it seems to barley even grip. They are a scam now, with $100+ , you will win 1 toy if you are lucky, when I was there I overheard some guest talking to one of the employee, complaining that they have been trying this 1 machine for quiet sometime and the machine still did not give them a win after swiping 8 times! and the employee herself admitted that they were calibrating the machines and most of the machines are not ready for a win even after 8 or 9 swipes and to remind you 1 swipe now is 14 + points.. This place became so greedy. To be honest I gave it a chance , before this review I gave it a shot because I came here DEC, Jan and finally this was the last straw, during dec. I understand maybe they needed the extra revenue that's why they purposely mess up the calibration, so it won't pay out a win after a certain amount of swipes but now it's just ridicules. so please I'm warning people to please to do not come to ROUND 1 SOUTHLAND MALL. try other location maybe they are better. I'm just being honest with this review and like I mentioned, I use to love going here and spending $100+ and win a good amount of toys but now it's not worth it. I won't be coming back to this location for sure and it's a shame because this place use to be fun.
