We had a fantastic time at the Red Door Borderlands themed escape room! Julian introduced the room to my group of 4 and did a great job of setting the stage. The room was AMAZING if you are a fan of Borderlands, but still really fun as a regular escape room if you aren't (2 people in our group didn't really play Borderlands, but still had a wonderful time!). NO SPOILERS, don't worry! The puzzle was considered a 6/10 on the difficulty scale, but we just wanted to have a good time with friends, so that was perfect! We had 4 adults, but I think kids would really like this room too! It starts out a little dark, so using your phone flashlight is DEFINITELY allowed, but the puzzles were so fun, and there were hints everywhere to find, exactly like an escape room should be! We escaped!! I did my first escape room with Red Door and I feel it set the bar really high for other escape rooms. It's really well produced and a lot of fun! I really like the TV screens that offer hints, let you know when you're close, or tell you when you're super off-base. I also like that they let you choose if you want that. My husband and I did the Last Stop room for a date night and it was such a fun way to mix things up from dinner and movie. Then my kids became obsessed with escape rooms, so we did the Fair Game with 5 adults + 2 kids. We asked for unlimited clues and were able to escape with some help on the tougher puzzles. read more

3.5 stars for the room Warrior's Way You can access the area upstairs through the office on the right side of the building then up the stairs. I am a big fan of the Red Door escape rooms and have completed all the ones at San Mateo, Survive at Vegas, and The Relic at Emeryville. My bf and I were super excited that this location offers a unique room called Warrior's Way. What's even more special about this room is that you start in separate rooms and have to talk to each other through a wall to solve your respective rooms before you can join together in the next room. Very cool. Story/Flow: Without spoiling any of the puzzles, our feeling about the room is that the puzzles didn't flow together as much as other rooms that we have done before. There were also a good amount of red herrings which was overwhelming in the first room when we were separated. Hints: Since it is just two of us, we do our best to work out what we can but we are not shy about asking for hints when needed and we did ask for help a good amount of times. Our game master was very detailed in the clues and took a while to type out the clues, we respect that it takes time to respond but it was taking so long I had to press it again to make sure he heard us. The clues also practically gave us the answer on what to do which wasn't what we would've wanted. Some of the props were cool but we were not fans of this one. read more

Very challenge, much engage. Red Door is a fun place to escape rooms with friends. My crew and I have escaped the casino and the fair/carnival themed rooms. Both were confusing at the beginning but once we started unlocking clues, we were able to get the ball rollin. If you're stumped, there's a button you can press that will give you 3 hints, use them wisely though. You can get an extra hint if you tell the game overlord a joke. There are lots of hidden objects and locks involved, so remember how to open them. They have a player book at the entrance where they tell you how to open the padlocks once you come across a set of numbers or letters in the game. Have good strategy with your team and a positive mindset and y'all or you should be able to escape within an hour. Just maybe not come here while inebriated because it will be difficult to escape or you'll break something lol The staff here are friendly and positive and they know their stuff! The price to play is a bit of a splurge but it's a fun experience with friends. Once you break free from the room you press the button outside the opened door and the timer stops. At the end you can get your photo ops at the front to show you were able to exit the room on time. While the games are pricey, they are worth the one hour mind challenging experience. Clues can be right smack in your face. I've been to Red Door Escape Room twice so far with my wife and kids. We've had a blast both times. The first time we tried Once Upon a Time. That was my first time in an escape room so I didn't know what to expect. My wife had previously been to one with friends so she had some familiarity with the concept. I had a lot of fun despite having to use a lot of clues at the beginning. Then this past weekend, we did Prison Break for my son's birthday. This one was more intense but I did manage to figure out a few things unassisted this time. We escaped with 6 minutes to spare. Fun experience. I've done all the rooms in this location and they are all pretty great. We've solved pretty much all of them as a party of 2, just make sure you look at every nook and cranny. Our favorite is Warrior's Way, which will involve the use of 4 of your senses (no tasting!). Literally one of the best escape room experiences EVER! Had such a memorable time at this location. I have been to the San Mateo location before and tried most of the rooms there, so I was curious to see how this location differs given my existing impression of the other location. My group and I did Warriors Way which was the highest in difficulty at this location and we did escape with less than 10 minutes to spare. SPOILER ALERT, there's an aspect of the room where you are split up from your group and I love that concept. All of the puzzles made sense and were pretty linear to the story. However, I must say, the highlight of this was room was our game host LILY! She was truly amazing from beginning to end. She brought the energy from the moment she took us from the lobby to when she was giving hints to us to the end of the room (she is also a fellow KPOP stan like myself and the rest of the group and we literally bonded on that throughout the WHOLE experience). Literally could not have asked for a more perfect person to host our room. Someone give Miss Lily a raise, she's the best! I've always been a chaperone for my kids to the escape room, but never participated myself until today. What fun! I can see how these things can become addicting. My sister is a newbie to escape rooms, but I've done several, so I wasn't sure if "Once Upon A Time" would be fitting. My sis, who's really good at puzzles, riddles, and word games, didn't want something too easy, but I knew that an escape room would be a whole different animal. Thanks to all the yelpers who helped me out, I decided to go with this "easy" level escape room, and it was perfect! It was an ideal bday activity (for my sis) and challenging enough for a brainy first-timer, but not too hard that we would be asking for clues left and right. We escaped with about one minute left and felt accomplished in the end, but more importantly, we had fun! Playful storyline, which is kid-friendly but made for adults, young and old. Great props and set up, multiple rooms (Once Upon A Time), and unpredictable puzzles to solve. Leah was our game master, and she was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. The staff at the front counter was great too on a Monday morning (got us started without delay as we had signed our waivers online). We were not required to use the lockers for our purses and belongings, which I appreciated since we prefer to keep our stuff with us (though we did put it on the ground while in the escape room). The whole place was clean and inviting with some seating and table puzzles in the lobby. To get to the second level at the Veranda shopping center, you enter the doors of the Office Suites building (where the restrooms are), then walk back outside once you get upstairs to find the Red Door Escape Room entrance. Signs are easy to follow. There's also plenty of parking here and various options for grabbing a meal in the plaza before or after your adventure. read more

Red Door Escape Room in Concord is located on the second floor of The Veranda. If you've made a reservation, give yourself a bit of extra time to get there--it can be tricky to find. You'll need to go through a building hallway and then back outside before reaching the entrance. On the plus side, the bathroom is conveniently right in front of you as soon as you enter the office building. I've tried three rooms at this location: Warrior's Way, Once Upon a Time, and Fair Game (Christmas edition). The theming for the rooms is pretty good, but some of the props and pieces feel overused and a bit grimy. I always feel like I need to use hand sanitizer after each game. As someone who's done over 35 escape rooms, I'd say the puzzles here feel a bit on the weaker side. In a well-designed escape room, the puzzles typically make sense in context--you understand why you're solving something in a particular way or order. Here, I often feel like I'm just randomly guessing until a lock finally opens. That said, the staff has been fantastic and very friendly. I also enjoy the short riddle they offer, where solving it earns you a free clue. Plus, they often sell gift cards at 20% off, which is a nice perk! If you're new to escape rooms, this could be a fun introduction, but for seasoned players, the puzzles might not feel as satisfying. read more

My boyfriend and I did the "Last Stop" escape room on a date night a few months ago. It was honestly pretty challenging but thankfully we had several hints that really helped us solve it. The "Last Stop" escape room is a cold case investigation scene. I believe we had about 30 minutes to solve the crime. A few minutes into our game, the fire alarm goes off and we had to evacuate the building lol we had to stand outside for a while, but it all turned out ok, we were able to resume our game just fine. This is one of my favorite escape rooms that I've ever done! We specifically did the "Once Upon a Time" room and the theme was adorable. The difficulty of this game felt more on the easy to moderate level, which was exactly what we were looking for! (You can look at the difficulty levels of each room on their website!) Red Door Escape does a great job at incorporating a little bit of fun (& easy) physical aspects with the puzzles as well as a clever amount of mind work puzzles. They also do a great job at keeping a good mix of traditional puzzle styles and more technologically advanced puzzle features. Another thing I appreciated was their use of the entire room in such clever ways for the puzzles. The game master had great energy and really did a good job at making us truly feel the experience. The lobby was clean and the plaza it was in is gorgeous. Parking for this specific plaza can get pretty busy during peak hours, so keep that in mind when booking your escape room time. We are definitely coming back for the Prison Break room recommended by our game master! read more

I have been here multiple times now and it only gets better. I really enjoy the storylines and how all the rooms are connected. This week I did Cash Me If You Can and it was very fun. Lots of creative puzzles to solve and lots to do. With just two people we escaped with three minutes left! My next room will be Warrior's Way and I am really looking forward to it. The rooms here are well done and staff is friendly and make you feel really comfortable. We had Leah and she was very attentive and helpful. She encouraged us and was really easy to talk to...not over the top like some gamemasters can be. It's a little tough to find the first time so make sure you come a little early. There is plenty of parking but this area gets busy. You are going to want to head around the backside and take the elevator up. You have to go out on the exterior patio upstairs to access the facility, so make sure to use the public restroom before you come up to save some time. Red door has a reputation for keeping rooms interesting and training their staff well and I recommend trying this location out. It's a good value for the cost and I have never been disappointed with my experience. read more

Yes! If you are thinking about it, just do it. Here's my tips; Read about the rooms online. Know which level you want to go through. My husband has never done an escape room so we went with the fairy tale room. Book online and sign the waiver. Get that out of the way. Get a group if you can. The location is in the Verandas. You need to get into the main building, go up to the second floor and follow the signs outside to the balcony where the front door is. A little confusing to get to. We showed up and met our game masters, super friendly. They showed us to the lockers, sat us up in the room. The game began. They helped with clues and tips. It was a lot of fun and we had some great laughs. Escaping with 9 Minutes left and hitting that buzzer. We had so much fun we booked our next visit on a gift card for 20% off before we left. First time and it was so fun! We came for a birthday, it was a large group of us and we were split into two teams. All of the workers were super nice, explained the rules for the first timers, and helped us have fun with friendly competition! Be on time for your reservation or they will cut some of your time off! This is the second Red Door location we have patronized and although it was harder to find, I preferred the relaxed environment here. There were very few negatives about our experience. Many of the reviews stated there were issues with parking, so we made sure to arrive early and we found parking a ways out. The business is located on the second floor and it took us a bit to figure out how to get up there. I would highly recommend parking in the thin strip of parking available behind the buildings as it is closer to the stairs and there seemed to be more parking available there. When we did make it in, it was close to our game time and I needed to use the restroom. Unfortunately, they do not have a restroom inside the business, so I had to go back out and down the stairs to use the public restroom. I was worried about the time it would take and considered starting the game without going, but they gave me a 10 minute grace period to start the room and I made it back with a few minutes to spare. All that being said, the staff were fantastic. Dale was our gamemaster and he was super chill, which I appreciated. We completed Fair Game and it was challenging and fun. Dale let us do our thing but towards the end he sensed I was getting anxious and sent me some extra help, which I really appreciated. We finished the room with 12 seconds left but I'm not too proud to say I couldn't have done it without him. He even did a little happy dance for us when we made it. I would definitely come back to this location and try one of the episodes we haven't done yet but I would make sure to park close to the offices where the stairs are and use the restroom before heading up. read more

We escaped! My brother was visiting from Minnesota and he and his gf wanted to do an Escape Room. I forgot what the room was called but we chose one that was good for a small group and we only had 3 people. Parking was fairly easy since it's a big plaza but the Red Door can kind of be tricky to find, it's located upstairs in the corner where there's not really good service. The workers were all very knowledgeable and professional and it gets busy there. We went on a Thursday afternoon and tons of groups were there and the phones were going off.
