Wish we could give Asst Manager Joey 10 stars out if 5. She gave us an A+++++++++++ experience. She made our day! We were walk-ins and asked would this be good for kids. She steered us to the best room for kids this age. Then when the youngest kid was scared at first, Joey went WAY, WAY, WAYYYY out of her way to make our little one comfortable. Joey even crawled in one room through one part with the kiddo, took the kiddo on a private tour and so much more. Have completed 3 rooms at Escapology now. 7 Deadly Sins has been my favorite so far, with A Pirate's Curse right behind it. Both were immersive, challenging, and fun. We recently did Mansion Murder and unfortunately didn't enjoy it as much. When we asked for clues, our clue master was essentially giving us the solutions rather than subtle hints, which took away from the experience. There was also one mechanism in the room that was broken. Overall, we've had great experiences here and would still recommend it, especially based on the other rooms. read more

My spouse and I were able to finally able to find time to go back to Escapology and try out another room. This time we went with the Scooby-Doo room on a weekend in the afternoon. We arrived early and the front of the store was empty so we just sat and looked at the decor and little puzzles in the lobby while we waited for our time. A few minutes later an employee came out to greet and check us in. After a quick check to make sure the room was ready, we were brought over to our game room. The decorations and props are all on point and brings a happy feeling to essentially be thrown into our childhood cartoon. I think this escape room was a good balance of fun and difficulty for most ages where my 12 year old niece and her friends could beat the game with only a couple clues. The only issue we had was there is a specific puzzle were an item should fall back into place but it would get "stuck" causing us to rethink and redo the puzzle a few times to make sure the mechanics were processing correctly. The game master in this instance was much more attentive to realize the specific advise needed to trigger the switch compared to our initial visit were the game master told us to do same thing we had been doing in the same order we had been doing it. We had a much better experience with the visit based on comparing the severity of the room issues and the helpfulness of the game masters. I still think the rooms need closer inspection to try and remove this mechanism issues before being booked as it still interferes with the game experience. We look forward to trying a couple of the other rooms with (fingers crossed) no issues. read more

3.5 stars These escape rooms are definitely on the pricier side, but we were looking for a fun family outing, so we gave it a shot. Our group of six ranged in age from 10 to 80, and we chose the Batman-themed room. The room itself was pretty narrow--definitely tighter than other escape rooms we've done in the past. It felt a bit cramped for a group our size. The TV that gave instructions was hard to hear over the loud background music and noise coming from outside, which made the beginning a little frustrating. We struggled a bit and ended up asking for a lot of clues (lol), but that's all part of the experience. Toward the end, we started to get the hang of things and ended up having fun. We might come back to try a different theme, but next time, we'll call ahead to ask about room sizes. If they're all this tight, we'd probably opt for another escape room in Livermore that has more space for bigger groups. read more

Escapology is an escape room game on the second floor of the Lot in San Ramon. The place is clean and organized and the workers are friendly. We had a group of six people and tried the "Murder on the Orient Express" which is supposed to be their most difficult escape room. This was my first escape room adventure so it was all new to me. Anyway we "survived" with about 2 minutes to spare. It was a fun puzzle and a great team building experience with friends. At $50 per person, I'm not sure I would go back on a regular basis but it was really fun and challenging. No pics are allowed inside so, if you go, I can't help you :) read more

Definitely not a place for seasoned escape room people. It's fine as a casual thing or with kids, but the mechanics and puzzles are definitely disappointing. They're either really easy or they're way too convoluted. I've done the batman room and the mansion murder. They both had one puzzle that was definitely a big time sync and even after knowing the solution I still don't understand how we were supposed to get there or the skill level was a bit too high. For mansion murder we did tell the GM that half our group was new which might have been a mistake. I felt like they gave out "clues", which were basically prewritten solutions, too much and without consent. If we struggled for longer then one minute I feel like they just handed out a hint. For batman I was baffled by having to exit the room ourselves. Normally in escape rooms, once you complete the room, a staff member will come into the room and guide you out. When we completed it we waited for about 30 seconds before we just left to the front. When we got to the front, the receptionist didn't even know we were done and had to check and then tell us our time. Additionally, something that was disappointing with this room was that, the indicators of when you completed a puzzle was sometimes non-existent. There were a few puzzles that we didn't even realize we solved it until we found something did drop or unlock. read more

What a fun experience! We did the Agatha Christie one since it was part of our book club. Each room was clever and they gave us hints if asked and leeway too. As we solves it and got our reward! We've done a couple different brands of escape rooms and this was a great experience with good production value! Greg, our game master, was very helpful with clues that helped us solve puzzles. We did 7 Deadly Sins with just 2 people and made it out with a few minutes to spare. The rooms within 7 Deadly Sins were fairly small. I couldn't imagine doing that with a big group of people, it would be incredibly cramped. We'll be back to try other rooms! read more

Expensive, but well worth the price. So much better than the others and kids friendly. Even in the lobby and waiting area you can tell they really paid attention to the little details that make such a huge difference once within the escape rooms. As huge Batman fans me and boy had to do this escape room with our wives. The puzzles were just hard enough where we had to use clues they provide but not too hard that we were able to solve quite a few ourselves. It literally got down to the wire and we solved it with :44 seconds to spare. It was so much fun! Would highly recommend this to those who love puzzles and escape rooms. 6 is the max for the Batman room but we were snug with 4 of us. Teamwork definitely helps to solve the riddles. read more

Check it out while everything is still new. I've been to many escape rooms and Escapology is no exception. It's an international chain Escape Room, and has a lot of collab themes like Batman, Scooby Doo, and Star Trek. The lobby is really nice. Really keeps to that steampunk theme they have going on. I feel like the space is a little limiting. That's usually the case with escape rooms located inside malls. Smaller groups 4-6 would be the ideal size for the rooms. I do like that the City Center added Escapology here. There's already plenty of restaurants and boutique shops, another activity place is much needed for sure to have variety. The only knock I have is that we had to wait quite a bit to start our game. I think it was about 30 mins after our scheduled start time? Escapology San Ramon is just understaffed. The game masters did the best they could with their limited resources so I don't blame them. However, it woulda been nice to be greeted when we came in, instead of standing for a few mins before someone came out to check us in. I'm certain Escapology is going to be very busy and we're gonna have a whole lot of more escape room enthusiasts! read more

Booking is simple. Go online, select the theme you want to do and the time and you're all set to go. We chose Escapology because we wanted to do an escape room that was private, not public, and this place offered that. Granted, it's a little more expensive than other escape rooms that are public, but the price seemed worth it for the amount of fun we had. Located in a plaza, parking is abundant and the area is nice. You can easily grab a bite before or after the escape room. The workers were friendly and explained to us how the room worked and how many hints we get. We opted for their Murder on the Orient Express room and it was pretty well thoughtout in my opinion. It's so fun! We tried our first room today. The Mansion Murder. Escaped with 9:11 to spare with 2 adults and 3 kids. Basically the kids (12-15) did everything while we adults just walk around . The booking system allows you to book for minimum of 2 people. But if you want to add more people you can do it at the location easily. Best part is they don't mix groups. So if you book the time it's all for your group. Just like any escape room you have to sign a waiver for everyone in your group before you head in. They have 7 mysteries you can try and a "kids mode" if you have younger kids playing with you: We did not opt for the kids mode. They said the kids mode gives the hints in picture mode or something like that. So make sure to check with the front desk that your game is set to the correct mode. We get to have 3 hints . But they said if you need more hints just ask. There's not really any penalty, I think they said they take take off from your remaining time if you use more than 3 hints ( for example you ask for 4 hints and finish with 5min left. They might take x minute from your leftover time). At the end of the game they take a picture and we get 20% coupon if we want to return for another game. They'll send you a picture of your group by email as well. Since it's so new the room is nice and clean and everything works perfectly. The rooms are small. They limit the people to 8 per game. But honestly idk how 8 people can fit in each room. We have 5 people and it was pretty challenging to move around and we're not that big! So if you go with a set of adults I'd probably limit the room to 5 or 6. They charge you the same amount of money per person if you do 8 in one room or 4/4 in 2 rooms. Mon-Wed $45 per person. Th-Sun $50pp. Plus $2.50 service fee per person. They did say do not use your cell phone in the rooms. But they give you a flashlight and scratch pad to work on the clues. Which was a very nice touch. From conversation with the nice workers there they said Lost city is the easiest and the Murder on the orient express is the hardest. But scooby doo and Batman are the most popular with family groups. Have fun trying out this new place! read more

We did the Lost City escape room with a group of 5 (four adults and one kid), and it was fun and a bit challenging, but we successfully escaped with time to spare, didn't even have to use the "unlimited hints" that they offer... Well we used a couple hints, but we probably could have figured it out in time (my siblings are brainy, and so is my nephew... and we ended up with extra time). The room decor and props were of good quality, not cheap looking, the overall setup and environment making it feel like you're in the story of the theme. Even the lobby was decorated nicely (with lots of clocks), and comfy with plenty of seating. Staff was great too, provided clear and simple instructions, professional and friendly. I visited Escapology on a Monday night with some friends, and we attempted the Mansion Murder room. Overall, we had a blast! From the moment we entered, the theming was incredible. The lobby was beautifully designed, immediately immersing us in the experience. The Murder Mansion room itself was just as impressive, with fantastic attention to detail that really set the mood. This was my 36th escape room, and I thought the puzzles were a bit on the easier side, especially for a room that's supposed to be their 2nd or 3rd toughest. While the puzzles were smooth and cohesive, I expected more challenging tasks to match the advertised difficulty level. That said, it's still a great room for beginners or intermediate players looking for a fun challenge without being overly frustrating. A couple of puzzles tested my "old people eyes," including one that could've been improved with something as simple as a sharpie for clarity. On the plus side, I appreciated hearing that pieces are replaced every two weeks, which shows their commitment to maintaining quality. One fun perk: when you complete the room, you get a themed bracelet that matches the room you just finished! It's a great little keepsake that adds to the experience. The staff was also fantastic--very friendly and helpful when we needed hints, offering just the right amount of guidance without giving too much away. The price point is $50 per player, which I feel is a bit steep for what you get. However, we managed to score a pretty big discount by searching online, which made it feel more worthwhile. This is in the same shopping center as salt and straw and a bunch of other things. There's plenty of parking around as well as a big parking garage that's free. They are located on the 2nd floor next to Sandbox VR. We did the Scooby-Doo themed room and it was a lot of fun with unique puzzles that kept us on our toes to figure out who the monster is. The decor was really cool and we felt like we were in a "mansion" and trying to solve the case with Scooby and the gang. Our next time we come back is for their Batman themed room. We came with a group of 4 and we did great. I think any more and the rooms would have felt a little cramped. read more

I have done an escape room in San Francisco from a different company where you walk into multiple rooms (4). However, this was my first time trying out this company version. It was the same price as the one I visited in San Francisco but it was way smaller. The rooms were very tiny and I felt that the price was a bit exaggerated for what it was priced at. I've done 50+ escape rooms, and Escapology is one of the worst ones I've ever been to. My group had just finished 2 escape rooms at Red Door, and we were excited to do another so we decided to check out Escapology. Big mistake and such a waste of money. We did the Murder Mansion and it is NOT intuitive whatsoever. On top of that, if you ask for a clue, they don't really give you a hint they just give you the answer. For example, instead of guiding us on how to figure out the puzzle, they just gave us 3 of the 4 numbers and had us guess the last one. So by the end we had a ton of questions on why this was the answer, and it turns out they could've just told us how to find it (looking at something we completely did not see) rather than straight up giving us the code just to move us along. What's the fun of doing an escape room if you don't have a chance to properly try the puzzles?! We ended up getting out but I definitely would NOT recommend for escape room enthusiasts, and felt strongly enough to share my experience. I also looked at reviews for other locations and it seems to be a common practice for Escapology game masters to give the answer rather than guiding the team, so I'll be avoiding all Escapology locations altogether. read more

We visited the "Murder on the Orient Express" room. Staff mentioned that this was one of the harder rooms they offer. You have one hour and it was definitely tricky to get done with just the two of us. Things weren't necessarily hidden in sight, you had to complete many riddles, complex tasks, and do things in the right sequence. If you get stumped you are allowed to get hints. We completed the room successfully with only 4-5 minutes left. I would absolutely go back. read more

My wife and I did the Pirate's Curse room. Our booking was at 8:05 pm and we got there with pre-signed waivers at 8 pm. The room was not ready and we had to wait nearly 30 minutes. It's understandable that they need time to reset rooms but maybe they need to add more of a buffer between booking times. The room itself looked really neat and the puzzles were interesting. However, about halfway thru we ran into a complicated puzzle that we were pretty sure we had the correct solution for but the puzzle just wouldn't work. On a whim we tried to open the door that the puzzle was supposed to unlock and lo and behold the door was already unlocked. At the end of the game we asked them about that and they just said there was an issue with the lock. It would have been nice if the game master had just told us that up front instead of letting us waste our time. That was definitely very frustrating. Lastly the clues they provide are NOT clues. They just give you the solution. Pretty much all escape rooms we have done in the past, and we had done at least 20, always give you a HINT, never the solution. Overall this is a great location and the rooms look amazing but they really need to have better game masters. read more

While the website was easy to book, data on the room itself wasn't straightforward. I tried calling SEVEN times prior to visiting and no calls were ever answered. I was trying to find out details about the difficulty levels of the escape rooms since I've done about 30 escape rooms in my life and wanted a challenge. I ended up booking blindly and the room was too easy. We escaped with 20 minutes remaining. Minutes before we started the escape room, my wife found the difficulty level posted in a very difficult to find location on the website... finding out that we did the second to easiest room. It seems that the customer experience is secondary to the business's profits. For $50/person, you should be able to answer calls, provide information about difficulty and have bigger rooms. Amenities like a water cooler while you wait would also be a nice touch. read more
