As huge Batman fans me and boy had to do this escape room with our wives. The puzzles were just hard enough where we had to use clues they provide but not too hard that we were able to solve quite a few ourselves. It literally got down to the wire and we solved it with :44 seconds to spare. It was so much fun! Would highly recommend this to those who love puzzles and escape rooms. 6 is the max for the Batman room but we were snug with 4 of us. Teamwork definitely helps to solve the riddles.

Check it out while everything is still new. I've been to many escape rooms and Escapology is no exception. It's an international chain Escape Room, and has a lot of collab themes like Batman, Scooby Doo, and Star Trek. The lobby is really nice. Really keeps to that steampunk theme they have going on. I feel like the space is a little limiting. That's usually the case with escape rooms located inside malls. Smaller groups 4-6 would be the ideal size for the rooms. I do like that the City Center added Escapology here. There's already plenty of restaurants and boutique shops, another activity place is much needed for sure to have variety. The only knock I have is that we had to wait quite a bit to start our game. I think it was about 30 mins after our scheduled start time? Escapology San Ramon is just understaffed. The game masters did the best they could with their limited resources so I don't blame them. However, it woulda been nice to be greeted when we came in, instead of standing for a few mins before someone came out to check us in. I'm certain Escapology is going to be very busy and we're gonna have a whole lot of more escape room enthusiasts!

It's so fun! We tried our first room today. The Mansion Murder. Escaped with 9:11 to spare with 2 adults and 3 kids. Basically the kids (12-15) did everything while we adults just walk around . The booking system allows you to book for minimum of 2 people. But if you want to add more people you can do it at the location easily. Best part is they don't mix groups. So if you book the time it's all for your group. Just like any escape room you have to sign a waiver for everyone in your group before you head in. They have 7 mysteries you can try and a "kids mode" if you have younger kids playing with you: We did not opt for the kids mode. They said the kids mode gives the hints in picture mode or something like that. So make sure to check with the front desk that your game is set to the correct mode. We get to have 3 hints . But they said if you need more hints just ask. There's not really any penalty, I think they said they take take off from your remaining time if you use more than 3 hints ( for example you ask for 4 hints and finish with 5min left. They might take x minute from your leftover time). At the end of the game they take a picture and we get 20% coupon if we want to return for another game. They'll send you a picture of your group by email as well. Since it's so new the room is nice and clean and everything works perfectly. The rooms are small. They limit the people to 8 per game. But honestly idk how 8 people can fit in each room. We have 5 people and it was pretty challenging to move around and we're not that big! So if you go with a set of adults I'd probably limit the room to 5 or 6. They charge you the same amount of money per person if you do 8 in one room or 4/4 in 2 rooms. Mon-Wed $45 per person. Th-Sun $50pp. Plus $2.50 service fee per person. They did say do not use your cell phone in the rooms. But they give you a flashlight and scratch pad to work on the clues. Which was a very nice touch. From conversation with the nice workers there they said Lost city is the easiest and the Murder on the orient express is the hardest. But scooby doo and Batman are the most popular with family groups. Have fun trying out this new place!

    Ask the Community - Escapology

What difficulty level is the Mona room compared to 7 Deadly Sins and Orient Express?

Any multi-room games or all they all one room?

They all include 3 rooms for each escape experience.

    Is this open already?

No it's in the process of finishing setting up. All reviews were by friends and family of workers that tested the rooms so the problems can be fixed before opening to the public

Who throws a birthday party for only one hour? If you want an additional hour it's an extra $150. Felt like a bait and switch -- I went back on the website to see if there was a disclaimer about parties being only 1 hour -- there is, but it's very discreet. It should definitely be more clear so there aren't any surprises. 2. The art project takes quite literally 5 minutes (no wonder only one hour is included...). While I'm sure the art is going to be beautiful, I would go as far as saying this was boring for a crew of 7 year old girls. After all of the instructions were given it was truly.. 5 minutes of fun... I quote the birthday girl.., "mom, we poured paint in a cup and then poured it in paper. That's it." I really wish there was something else to make the party a bit more fun and engaging. Play a game? Sing? Literally anything to extend the fun. The art itself is simply not enough to justify having a party there.

We were a bit disappointed because I had received an email that it was drift night, but when we arrived it had actually been the night before. Marketing really needs to have accurate messaging going out. I double checked the email to see if I'd read it right and it indeed had the wrong night listed. Kids were super bummed, but decided to go out and drive and still had a great time. The track was a tad slippery still from drift night so they actually had a few tiny drift moments. They have food and drinks available for reasonable prices. Mostly pub type food, as well as snacks and candy. Lots of nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages available. There's a pool table and other games in an arcade area. Plenty of seating options. I love that electric carts are available, as I don't miss having to breathe in fumes with the former gas carts. In the beginning the process was a bit confusing but it all got sorted out by the time the race began. All drivers got a safety instruction. Then guided to 2 guys to help with helmet fitting. Birthday girl was girl in line as cars weee assigned to everyone in the party. There is a place to sit and watch the racers doing their laps. The 1st lap took some getting used to. But since it was a private track time for the party, there were no unnecessary public interactions crashing cars into each other. Safety first which I really appreciated. The girls had a complete blast once they figured out how the cars drove. There was a short 20 min break in between laps where they were given drink cards and game cards to use $10 ea. The second lap was the one that counts and who won 1st 2nd 3rd place. In the end everyone received a certificate and got to stand on the podium for pics. We brought our own cake. K1 provided the sliders and pretzel dogs and utensils plates. The party section was spacious and clean. Loved the decor. Great for older kids and adults as some of the parents, kids at heart, had to refrain from joining in on the party. Many of the kids weren't able to use their game card as we ran out of time. The kids saved it for their next visit. I would recommend this place for parties or a night out or even team building event.

We brought 11 rowdy boys and fully expected chaos. Instead, we had a smooth, organized, and genuinely fun experience. A few kids became overstimulated, and he handled it with such calm reassurance and professionalism. He struck that perfect balance of being fun while maintaining structure, which is not easy with that age group. It's rare to see someone manage that level of energy so skillfully. This was a nice gesture. We booked our time and we returned 6 mins late. Then this was when we were told we are too late so we can get a store credit or rebook. The excuse was other people in our group has already started. We didn't doubt this at the time but they have a website to look up scores of the day and we were the only ones playing this game at the San Ramon location. Not sure why we couldn't play then if we were the only ones playing anyways. We rebooked for later the same day after dinner and arrived 30 mins early. It turns out we need to sign waivers and prep time before playing. This should have been basic information given to us or at least let us know we should arrive earlier than your booked time in order to play. Just thinking logically I would want clients to prefill these out prior to their reservations. This would create less friction at start time. The crew setting us up for playtime were very helpful though and after playing they gave us a nice recap experience of our game. This was a nice touch but I wish they would have told us how the photos would be used more clearly. I wasn't even ready when taking my photo and halfway through a blink. The kids liked the game play but adults didn't have a good time. It was dizzying and exhausting to play for me and my wife and $50 a person for such an experience seems high. Would probably stay away and try to convince my kids to do the same.
