We came on a Groupon deal for a party. There are multiple rooms and puzzles need to be solved to advance to the next level. On weekends there might be more than one group at a time but the groups are in different rooms with almost no interaction or overlap. The quality of the props and surroundings are not too high. You will need to use some imagination to get an immersive role playing experience. If the puzzles get too hard to follow you can call the game master for hints. With hints a group of middle school kids made it to within 30 seconds of finishing the game. A lady popped her head in and announced that time was up. It's definitely a thinking experience. A few of us were mentally drained after the experience. Something fun to try once with a cool group of people.

Generally, this is a very fun and exciting experience. I played the Lost Kingdom, which is the theme about ancient Egyptian topic. The game master was very helpful and informative. He told us about the story line and the general rule about the game. I like the story. They connect all of their three rooms together based on the story. It makes the game like Indiana Jones adventures. The room we played is the second part of the story. However, without playing the first part of the story, we still can enjoy the game. All the puzzles are independent. We successfully get out the room before 1 hr limited time. Also, I got our group picture on the winner wall. That was awesome. I would like to try other rooms in the future to see the whole story. Btw, help lines are limited. We only had 2 help lines.

The air reeks of death...the walls inch closer and closer, trapping us in claustrophobic horror...there's only one thing we can do to get out of here alive. ESCAPE. Alright, I confess--it wasn't nearly as dramatic as that and the air may have smelled a little musty more than anything, but we really did have to escape out of three rooms in order to beat the game. Although, don't take the word "escape" too literally. It was more like trying to solve puzzles to unlock three doors. We were never really trapped anywhere which somewhat ruined the "fear-aspect" of it for me. But the concept of Xcapade is very cool. You do tend to lose yourself within the puzzles as you and your fellow comrades try to beat the 60 minute clock to get to the finish line. With an Egyptian themed escape room, we encountered confusing hieroglyphics on the walls, small statues of Anubis and pharaohs, as well as confusing verses about the afterlife. Each room has different puzzles that when solved will lead you to the next room until you can unlock the last door. The kicker, however, is that all the rooms are connected so it's up to you to make sure to remember all of the relevant clues and piece them together logically. The hubby and I went with a group of friends and we were all very competitive. We broke up into mini teams since each room had a variety of puzzles that we had to solve in order to break the code. We used quite a lot of different tactics, like utilizing a UV flashlight to find hidden messages, deciphering numbers and pictures, and even a little math to answer all the riddles. But try as we might, we failed to escape...That last room stumped us good! The puzzles got more difficult and clues were more obscure as time passed. Still, we all loved a good challenge and worked well together, laughing, deliberating, and helping one another as one united front. I will say that the rooms are a bit dingy in the sense that some props were broken, the wallpaper was chipping in some areas, and there wasn't much creativity in terms of scenery. But this was a good experience for first timers like us. We most definitely want to try another escape room, but next time, we'll come in more experienced, more aware, and more determined to win. BECAUSE ESCAPE, WE SHALL!

Played the Lost Kingdom room. The concept is good, but the room needs to be redone. It was a bit falling apart and worn done.

Sorry, I can't remember anyone else's names. Puzzles are both clear and challenging at times, the narrative is very interesting and provokes discussion both during and after, and the prospect of decisions affecting later Chapters is very interesting. One of the most engaging and interesting Escape Rooms I've ever done. Although you might find cheaper Escape Rooms out there, Off the Couch Games offers a more unique experience that I think definitely gives you plenty of entertainment for your dollar. I eagerly await Chapters 4 and on. Only room for improvement I can really say is signage. If you miss the banner and front door on your way into the parking lot, you may get confused, especially at night.

The staff does a really good job introducing you to the game, providing context, and giving an overview of the rules. Additionally, they mentioned that we'd receive a discount off our total based on how quickly we finished, which was extra encouragement for us to get through the game. You immediately get immersed into the game before even walking into the actual room and once you're in Occam's Apartment, it feels even more real. The room itself is well decorated, with nice details scattered around the apartment. I loved every minute of the escape room experience and felt challenged throughout the time we were there. We did ask for hints throughout our time there and the answers were often given through directional questions. What I liked most about the Off the Couch set up is that the escape rooms are all a continuation of a storyline, so it makes you feel invested in the experience. I'm looking forward to the next escape room!

"Back to Childhood" consisted of a couple of rooms with a fun transition between the two. The theme and decor was nostalgic for me and my siblings and exciting for the little ones as they gave their best efforts in their very first escape game experience. "Back to Childhood" is supposedly one of the easier rooms here, but it was challenging enough for us grown-ups. It provided the perfect balance of difficulty level and entertainment value to fit a group made up of both youth and adults. We appreciated Clockwise being able to accommodate our large party of 8, including the kiddos. Our game master, Elizabeth, was friendly and gave clear instructions in the beginning as well as helpful clues during our session. We didn't need many hints, but liked that all players had to wave their arms in the air to agree to getting each clue. We made it out with about ten minutes to spare, and everyone was all smiles in the end.

Lots of figuring things out and collaborating. We sucked but took it in stride and still had a really good. Currently there are 6 gaming rooms, though more rooms are in the works. The games offered in each room change depending on how many people are in your group. And there are different levels, so once you beat the game, you can return to the same room to advance to the next level. If you fail, you leave the room for it to reset and then can return to try again as many times as you want. I'd never done escape rooms or anything like this, and was really impressed at the sophistication and technology. You get 1 hour and 45 minutes to play, and time flies fast. Came on a Friday night at 8pm and there were only about 2 other groups. Free parking in lot. The man showing us around (Tim?) was really nice. Overall a great experience to try. We beat at least level 1 on all the rooms except one--the marble contraption. I enjoyed that there was a good mix of skills required in each of the rooms. Some of the physical ones really tired me out! I think this would be a good birthday party activity for 7/8th grade kids and above, as long as they're semi-mature and the type of kids that enjoy puzzles.

There is a photo op with various props in the corner of the lobby as well as branded apparel for purchase. We were told that we had three free clues, and any more would cost us time (you can do social media for extra time). We attended wizard school, which is rated medium/hard (same as the other ones at this location in Livermore). Based on the theming, bringing a Harry Potter fan in your group is mandatory - it's filled with tons of references to the series which was pretty neat to see. The first room we were in was surprisingly huge and intricate, and was also the room in which a majority of the game takes place. We solved the first several puzzles relatively well after we took some time to take in everything. It felt immersive, like we had been transported to a magical room in an alternate universe opposed to just a room that was decorated. The puzzles utilized pattern recognition, literal interpretation, symbols and translation, listening to instructions, riddles, interaction with room elements, hidden object games, astrology, and more. We've been to a few different escape rooms, and consider our experience at Limitless Escape Games to be one of the hardest we've done. You can tell one person put a lot of thought, passion, and ideas in the puzzles, as they were quite detailed, clever, and cohesive - progressing through the puzzles aided to the storytelling. That being said, the structure seemed a bit linear in that we had to focus on one puzzle at a time and couldn't do much until something was resolved. Our party of two ended up failing out of wizard school pretty horribly, as we just spent too long on one of the puzzles and didn't want to take a clue out of stubbornness. The puzzle we were trying to solve was... lagging. As well, we asked for a hint but didn't get it for a couple minutes because they weren't paying attention. Our game master kindly showed us how to resolve the rest of the room, though, and made us feel better by letting us know that the escape rate is roughly 1/3. He also told us that their other locations feature more high-tech rooms, such as the ones in Pleasanton which we hope to try in the future! We were offered a discount for the rest of the day if we wanted to book future games, which was basically the same price as their Groupon. While disappointed at our failure, we did really enjoy the thoughtfulness of the theming and puzzles offered here which do differ drastically from escape room chains. I'd say this experience was a lot harder than the typical escape room, so I wouldn't recommend it for complete beginners; that being said, it's amazing if you want a challenge!
