My kid and her friends had an amazing time celebrating her birthday at iSmash in pleasanton. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The place is really clean (before the smashing anyway..lol). This is our second time here in a month and we will definitely be back.

Great place for a surprise valentine's gift from my hubby to smash a brunch of stuff. They also host parties and events with paint sessions too. We need to check this out next time. Thank you ismash team for a smashing fun evening!

    The aftermath

We celebrated my son's 8th birthday at iSMASH and it was an absolute blast! Eleven excited kids got to safely smash a variety of fun items -- which, according to them, was "the best thing ever!" Then they headed into the neon paint splatter room with black lights and bright colors everywhere. It was perfectly controlled chaos and basically every 8-year-old's dream. The staff was amazing -- attentive, organized, and so great with the kids. There was a great selection of items to break, which kept the energy high the whole time. We finished with a pizza party, making it the perfect start-to-finish celebration. The kids are still talking about it! We'll absolutely be back. If you're looking for a unique, high-energy birthday party idea, this is it!

    The result of our fun!

I ordered the Lucky Charms White Mocha. It was tasty, but definitely a drink I wouldn't be able to order on the regular. I was able to set up my computer and one of the side rooms and get some work done. This place seems to be a very popular place for studying and doing some work. Just a great place in a great area. Customer ( young lady) started to apologize , she herself takes that cup of coffee to the counter and that guy in the hat was asking her : " did you drink it already? no? good...."-- unbelievable. I do not come here often ( lately), just for that reason-- so slow and then mess up your order ( happened to mine as well)-- plus service itself.... Not recommend, if you looking for a better experience and better tasting coffee-- there are plenty other around in the area.

There are cracks on the walls and the shackles and rooftop is very old-fashioned but that just adds to its charm. The owners of the shop were so sweet. They offered water and snacks and are just plain genuine. They didn't put any pressure on us to buy or to leave, even though they were closing up. They seemed more content with people just visiting and gawking at the historical site. This place is also part of the ghost tour held during Halloween. Yup, there have been many incidents here. Like footsteps on the second floor, objects being moved, stuff like that. The staircase within the shop gave me a creepy vibe. It is made of old wood and it is narrow. Looking up to the second floor is eerie and uncomfortable. Maybe I felt that way because my friend just told me that the ghosts known to inhibit the Kottinger Barn can be heard walking up and down these very steps. **Shivers** Ohhh ghost stories give me the willys but I love them! The way the owners set up the back yard is cute. It's ambiance is old and used and also kind of sad and lonely for it looked like it was abandoned for years. I can imagine the ghost sitting on one of the chairs, looking out of the yard at the changed world...(there goes my imagination again)

Our photographer had no trouble finding stunning backdrops to use for photos. It ended up raining on our wedding day, so we weren't able to get married in front of the oak tree on the ceremony lawn, but the indoor option ended up working perfectly! Plus, the food at Castlewood is phenomenal. Sandy was an absolute joy to work with while we were planning our event. This was pretty much the first/only Thanksgiving that my family didn't cook at home... like ever. A family member of mine is a member here and suggested, as long as everyone one is on board, that we just pay a nominal amount and do our Thanksgiving meal here. The price felt really reasonable ($75 in 2025) especially since no one was stressing about cooking and clean up etc. We had a pretty large group that included my family, in laws, etc. so the convenience was really appreciated. The food was good too. It was served buffet style and they had seafood, salad, plenty of sides, and some carving stations... oh and a dessert area. There were also beverages to purchase. I got there a little early and got a nice pour of bourbon before the rest of my family got there. There was also a professional photographer on the premises to get pictures from the holiday. Definitely a great option to spend this holiday for sure! Parking was very easy - as they have lots of accessible lots and I think the rest of the club was closed that day.

It is like within a winery, I didn't explore much outside but we were welcomed with a drink either a sangria or lemonade, people immediately wanted to go into the shade and there were places to sit, listen to the live music and sign and drop off gifts. Then cocktail hour started and the bartenders were great and friendly and the alcohol and drinks were really good. The hordouvres/appetizers were amazing!! I liked how they came out and served them and they kept on coming, I ate so much I was worried I was going to be to full for dinner. The bacon wrapped something, I think dates? And the fried chick peas, sandwiches, ceviche, everything was so good with our drinks! They then opened up the ballroom for us to take our seats, it was a sot down served meal and I chose the fish option. It came with a salad first that was huge and bread and then dinner was served efficiently, food was good! The bathrooms are located behind the stage but overall it's a big ballroom, for lots of space and activities like the Photo Booth and other vendors.
