Good escape room in Napa. Located in a strip mall the Grape escape is easy to spot. There's plenty of parking around. Staff here is super friendly and helpful. We had a booking issue and the staff helped us out and offered a significant discount. In the room itself the GM was attentive and helpful. We tried two rooms (Temple of Razum and the witches one). I'd say both are closer to old school rooms with only sparing using of technology. Puzzles mostly make sense, there was one in each room that we'd never have solved without help. The rooms were mostly linear so better for smaller groups. We did it with two people and enjoyed it quite a bit. If you're looking for something to do in Napa these rooms are great. read more

The staff are super friendly and we loved our Game Master Lizette(might be spelling it wrong). The rooms were intricate and challenging and I enjoyed all the details! I would love to come back and play other rooms they offer! The Grape Escape used to be one of my top 3 escape room spots--I've always appreciated the creativity and intricacy of their rooms, and we've had some great experiences here in the past. That said, our most recent visit for their seasonal room Coven was disappointing. (Ps. This is a late review for our visit back in November 2024). Unlike their regular rooms, Coven isn't really a room at all--it's a makeshift setup in the lobby area, enclosed with four large white projection screens. It lacked the immersive feel and detailed set design we've come to expect from Grape Escape. Solving puzzles didn't come with those satisfying visual or audio pops that normally add a layer of excitement, and the whole thing felt more like a temporary exhibit than a full-fledged escape experience. Also, the way hints are handled in this setup was a bit awkward--the game master just kind of pops into your tent, which really pulls you out of the world they're trying to create. We paid $24 per person (5 of us total), which is cheaper than their usual $40 rate--but honestly, even that felt steep for what we got. $15-$20 would've been more fair given how scaled-down everything was. Still love this place for their main rooms, but Coven felt more like a filler than a feature. read more

I've been twice now! Once with a friend and then we came back with our partners. I'm not sure what they're called but the associates who run the place are friendly and knowledgeable. Even though both times and rooms were challenging we had a very great time. I'm only taking a star away due to the smell (I think there's a plumbing issue and the price is steep but all escape rooms are). I'm sure we will be back again soon. read more

Decided to book a last minute activity and was excited to learn this place is dog-friendly (provided your pup is potty-trained). My fiancé and I attempted the circus themed game and escaped with seconds to spare. I thought the puzzles weren't too difficult, although the ending was a bit anti-climactic. Our game master was friendly and engaged with us just the right amount. No jump scares, but I did find the circus music to be a tad bit too loud at times. The game did have a late start (about 15 min past our reservation) as the previous group dragged a bit and staff needed to reset the room. Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves and are glad we were able to successfully escape! The room does have a weird smell... but it is located right by the bathrooms. Maybe poor ventilation? What a grape way to end a trip to Napa! My friends and I booked a last minute game the night before for the following day ~8pm. We arrived 10-15 min early to sign the waiver and get briefed. They have costumes available for anyone who wants to get into their roles ;) We chose the Kraken Casino and our game master was great at listening in to provide assistance if needed. One of our games was broken so she came in to help (she paused the time of course!). All of the puzzles were so much fun and we only had to ask for 1 clue hehe. We were able to escape in 44 minutes! After the game, our game master handed out stickers to everyone and asked if we were celebrating anything special. Two of our friends recently got engaged so she gave them a small gift! This escape room has been under my radar for a long time, since my boyfriend had a gift card for 4 people. Booking a room was easy, you just enter the gift card code onto the website after choosing a room and checking out. We had a group of 4 so we chose Uncle Tick Tock's circus. Our game master, Allison was very friendly and helpful! She was amazing. She knew when we were getting stumped and gave us a helpful nudge when we needed it. I don't want to spoil the experience, but I really loved the decor and activities that we had to do in order to escape. We were able to escape with a decent amount of time left! They had a leaderboard in the waiting room, but in order to make it on there, you can only have 3 hints. Unfortunately we didn't make it on the board but we still had a great time! We came here to celebrate a belated birthday for my friend, and she received a cute shot glass gift from Allison! :) I'd like to come back again with a bigger group to try out the other two rooms! Did the circus room. The light puzzle was not reset properly so it was never able to be solved and we also started twenty minutes after our reservation, we were just sitting in the waiting room. First timer alert. I've been eyeing this place ever since escape rooms made their debut way back when. When I found out there was one in Napa, super stoked to try it out. Finally was able to for an Admin Appreciation Day planned by the job house for us admin workers. Management planned out teams before we got there, and we used all 3 rooms at this location. Immediately, as I walked in, I was feeling the vibe. Decor in the front, waiting room was on hit. I was greeted by 3 young ladies, Heather, Allison & gosh, so sorry I forgot the third's name. You do have to "sign your life away" but it's all in the name of fun. They'll give you the option of creating your own team name, which turns out to be printed on the pics they take before and after your mission. We were under Allison's watchful. I was part of a group of 5, and one team member is wheel chair bound. Our mission was in Krakken Casino, which have ample room for a wheel chair to move around and help solve those puzzles. Being that it was my first time, as with most of our team members, I didn't know what to expect. We were told the Krakken Casino is one of the "harder" rooms, but didn't matter to me, since it was my first time. Not going to spoil the room w/ details, but I tell you, we all had a blast!! It was a great experience being able to go head w/ the room. Everyone in our party kind of went their separate ways and tinkled w/ different parts of the rooms trying to figure things out. When someone did, the atta boys started. They'll want to take a picture in the beginning, before you head in the room. They have photo props, from things you can wear, to things you can hold up in your picture, you know, photo booth style. At the end when it's completed, we took a group pic, with all three teams. The pictures were sent pretty quick, whether you gave your phonenumber or email address. Staff thoroughly told the rules and guidelines but in a way where it wasn't boring. All in all, I had a blast, and would definitely come back w/ my kids, but try a different room. I am a fan! read more

We came here as a team of 2 having done 4 or 5 escape rooms each (mostly at Red Door Escape). As much as I enjoy and recommend Red Door, this was our favorite escape experience. The puzzles in Uncle Tick Tock's Circus were all well crafted and we liked that they didn't feel as linear as some escape rooms. I will say that there is one puzzle mechanism which was a bit too long and finicky. The game master pointed it out before we began, but I feel the solution should be shortened. Once you figure out the answer (which is the satisfying part), it isn't necessary to make the physical aspect so long and prone to error. Other than that, everything was amazing and well worth it! The game master was also very friendly and I liked that the few hints we requested simply pointed us in the right direction without revealing anything about the answer itself. All in all a wonderful experience and we will certainly come back to attempt the other rooms the next time we are in Napa. read more

Second time here & we had tons of fun! I went with my coworkers. When you arrive, you sign a waiver and then give your email so they can send you the pictures after. Then the staff goes through introducing themselves and telling you a little about the grape escape and how the rooms work. We did the temple of razum. We had 60 minutes to escape. We did very good at first but at the end we needed a few hints. We made it out but a little late lol. You have to work together and look at everything in the room to see how you can work faster. We were looking for something fun to do around the Napa area and came across the Grape Escape. Of their multiple rooms, we chose to do the quarantine escape room. After all, that's fitting during these pandemic times right? The venue was pretty good about safety precautions. There were hand sanitizer bottles available and also restrooms open for you to wash your hands. In the main room where they play the video, they have sections to curtain off between groups so that you aren't in each other's spaces. After watching the instructional video and hearing an overview of the Escape Room game, we were led to our room. You can choose to wear optional costumes too, which they provide, to get more in the element for your room theme. Oscar, our escape room monitor, was great! Super friendly and on top of answering our questions whenever we asked. We had a few hiccups with our markers being to dry to write with, and he immediately brought in new ones for us to use. The quarantine escape room was fun. The details and interactive elements were creative and just difficult enough without being overly impossible to get through. I was terrified of someone popping out from somewhere, but thankfully that didn't happen ahaha. The dark room element adds to the scary appeal too. I wish there were more flashlights for all of us to have a light source, but hey at least we're better equipped for when things don't way anyways. My group of 4 was able to escape the room within minutes of the end. You might be able to finish quicker with more people. We were all very happy with our experience and how the individual puzzles were all related to the theme of the room and had varying levels of difficulty. I went to rebook and the code dosen't work . I contacted the business and they say the code is expired and now I'm out 280 . This business dosen't stand by their word so buyer beware. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone due to them not backing their gift certificate codes . As someone that has done over a hundred escape rooms or so, I've been feeling pretty bored over the the style of escape room in the Sacramento and Bay Area. My friend was coming into town we decided to do some and found Grape Escape on Yelp and I am so glad we did. We did the jungle theme room and had so much fun we decided to return again in a couple months to do the last 2 rooms - Tick Tock and The Kracken. Before we were able to do the two rooms, one of our escape room friends passed and we wanted to take him with us! We made t-shirts with him on it and spent the day honoring his memory. The second day was a beautiful day in Napa. We also got to meet the owner John and his family which was pretty awesome! I have never had such attentive and awesome game masters, the rooms had some pretty unique puzzles even I haven't seen before, and the whole operation was very well organized. We loved it so much, smashed the time records at the rooms we did and on top of that John offered us to go to the Escape tent located at the Yard at Oxbow for free!! After eating delicious food and drinks at the Yard we headed to the Escape tent which was actually really fun! I would totally recommend the tent for people with families, a first date, or pretty much anyone that wants an introduction to escape rooms! It was a blast! And after we got out, John and his son were right there waiting for us telling us we smashed that record too - and offered us a round of drinks. I can't stop thinking of how great a day we all had wanted to thank The Grape Escape for making it happen. In this day and age where importance in customer service is pretty much non-existent, I'm grateful to see that that is not the case there. So, a girlfriend and I try to meet up at least once a year and somehow we always end up in Napa to get our spices at the Oxbow Market. This time we had some extra time and somehow the subject of escape room came up so we decided to do one. This was her first time and my third time. In the past, most of the rooms require a party of 4 or more. Since we didn't make reservations ahead of time, we were crossing our fingers that we can join another group or something. We lucked out! Not only did we get in, we had a whole room for just the two of us to break through and we did it in 39 minutes. We had so much fun and laughter from just doing silly stuff and missing the obvious. Thank you to the staff for guiding the way and keeping us focus. We have already decided that we might fit this in with our annual meeting to Napa! We still need to figure out how to open that box! If you have extra time, go early, they have a nice waiting room with some very unique puzzles to work on. read more

My bestie and I went here on a whim today and did all 3 of their rooms and they were all amazing!!! We've done 37 escape rooms before coming here so we have seen a lot of different places and rooms and puzzles etc and this place is really awesome! The staff was so nice and helpful and great to talk to also so thats always a plus. Their hardest room is the X-Cape Z-51 and it was our first room we have ever lost so far. VERY HARD room. I would definitely suggest having at least 3 or 4 people for that one. We got super close to getting out with the two of us but it definitely would have been easier with another person or two. We also got on the leader board for fastest time completing Uncle Tick Tock's Circus so that was great!
