    Welcome to Sonoma Zipline Adventure.
    Carl N.

Life is about having a daring adventure or nothing at all. Let's begin this zipline adventure. Sonoma Zipline Adventure is an outdoor non-profit organization that provide activity unlike you've ever experienced. It's nestled deep in the Redwood forest in Occidental, CA. They have two unique courses (Forest Flight Tour and Tree Top Tour) containing zip lines, sky bridges, spiral tree staircase and a rappel. We did the Tree Tops which is their highest, fastest and longest course. You will reach speeds of up to 40 mph with a total of 7 zips, bridges and a rappel. As an outdoorsy lad & adventure thrill seeker, SZA was exactly I need. Living life on the edge. Our young safety guides, Shannon and Rebecca, were phenomenal, knowledgeable and professional. It took a little over to 1 1/2 hours to complete the course. Price was worth it. Plenty of parking. Cell reception is nonexistent but they have a free wifi at base camp only. The best part was the majestic Redwood tree top view and I loved it! I felt their natural power; and those trees, they sway and talk as the wind blows. Overall, I had a bloody fantastic time. I highly recommend you visit.

Highly recommend this trip but make sure to book the treehouse!! You get more bang for your buck. Staff was super friendly, helpful and amazing. From the time we checked in, Bryan and Rebecca made us feel welcome. The tour and zip line guides were awesome, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The zip lines themselves were amazing. It was a great day and the views were majestic. Treehouse: it was clean, well lit and good amenities. They had a charcuterie board when we got to the treehouse and both dinner and breakfast were really good. They had snacks and bottled water. Showers (which was a little bit of a hike) were clean, had hot water and thick fluffy towels. Gave it 4 stars because it was pricey for a night thing.

Cheers to our 20th wedding anniversary We came here to celebrate and do something adventurous. We had the best tour guides for our zip lining - Aiden, Mari and Bryan. Dario was our host for the tree house. Everything was amazing the zip lining, the food, the guides and the experience was just so cool!! I highly recommend this to anyone as it was so peaceful and fun! Do it book it!!!

First time I've been on a zipline so I didn't know what to expect. I was so nervous but the guides were amazing. I felt secured and safe in their hands. My heart was racing on the first zipline but by the end I was jumping off the ledge! It was exhilarating flying through the treetops, soaring over lush green canopies. It was a picture perfect setting that made the ride/adventure even more memorable! Indeed, money well spent!

We came to Sonoma Zipline and Treetop as a family of four, my husband, Son (15) and Daughter (10). We came for the zipline and the treetop stay. The crew were super professional and everything started on time. The treetop experience was pretty awesome, one of a kind. It is pricey, but I can understand the upkeep cost. The dinner and breakfast were included and they were served hot and on time. We also arrived at the treetop with an afternoon snack plate in the treetop house waiting for us. The plate of snack was pretty, but maybe less dried fruit and more cheese and meat next time. The fresh blueberries went bad, yuck! Other than that, the staff stocked popcorn, trailmix, bottled water, hot cider and hot chocolate mix for us along with other condiments. They also stocked a variety of board games for us as Internet was super slow and I appreciated that. The toilet in the treetop worked really well, so that's a relief. The zipline portion was fun and exciting. We got to zipline our way into the treetop village and zipline our way out the next morning The kids loved that the most.

I was initially drawn to the ziplining treehouse adventure here due to a Facebook ad with a coupon code for 20% off plus 2 GoPro rentals (valued at $49 each). How often do you ever hear anyone say they stayed in treehouse that's 80 to 100 feet above ground? This was an opportunity worth experiencing! I'd recommend 10/10! INITIAL LOGISTICS: Ryan will be ready with puns to check you in at the Welcome center. Upon checking, you'll place all your belongings in a bin. We had three adult guests and the bin was the right size for 2 backpacks and a duffle bag. For adults, I'd say stick to 4 backpacks. It's recommended to have clothes with zipper pockets but there will be a small bin to place items into before your ziplines. TOUR GUIDE: On day 1, my guides were Mari and Sofia. On day 2, Mari again with Pao. The guides were very punny and had great chemistry. They helped my friend ease her nerves with their long term experience and safety knowledge. YURT: There is a heater but no air conditioning. It's recommended to do the treehouse adventure not during the summer. I went during a day off on MLK's bday in January with cooler weather. RESTROOM: There was a 5 gallon tank for the sink and a separate tank outside the yurt for toilet flushes. The water was cold. There also were pads and tampons provided. There was a communal shower facility close to the yurts with hot water. The shower facility had 4 stalls each with a sink, body towels, face towel, hair dryer, pads, and tampons. DRINKING WATER: I brought in 2 water bottles, one at 24 oz and 1 at 12 oz. I had topped off my 12 oz bottle at the Welcome center on day 1. After your forest flight, you are given a 16.9 oz bottle of water. Upon entering the yurt, there is one 20.3 oz water bottle per person included plus a hot water thermos pitcher. We were able to request a refill on hot water. At dinner time, we had a glass bottle of water like they have at restaurants. I did use some of this water to brush my teeth at night to conserve the tank water for washing my hands after all my toilet uses. At breakfast, we got another hot water thermo pitcher plus the glass bottle of water. I used the cooled off hot water from the night before to brush my teeth in the morning. FOOD: There was a charcuterie board, 1 bag of white cheddar popcorn per person, 1 trail mix bag per person, and 1 packet of hot chocolate per person along with teas, coffee packets and condiments already in the yurt. Dinner was provided with a glass bottle of water, bread (baguette), salad (spinach, feta, and cranberry), entree, side, and dessert (crème brûlée). My friends and I ordered the chicken with a side of polenta, steak with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted squash, and the Chef's Choice which was salmon with a side of mashed squash with bell peppers and cherry tomatoes. Our dishes all had nice presentation and were so delicious. The steak was medium, juicy, and very tender. If you do not like medium, you can put in a request to be cooked otherwise upon booking your stay. There was also A1 in the condiment basket in the yurt already provided. Breakfast had a glass bottle of water, glass bottle of orange juice, pitcher thermos of hot water and coffee, mini chocolate danishes, mixed fruit (watermelon, pineapple, blueberry, cantaloupe, honey dew), and our entrees of half a slice of French toast, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, and two slices of bacon. The French toast was so crispy good! I think it may have been fried well.

Josh and Simon were awesome guides! They made this experience so enjoyable. Amazing views and so much fun to be in nature. Will definitely be coming back!

One of the bridges. It's shaky but still safe.

The Tree Tops Ziplines were exhilarating! If you're not afraid of heights, I highly recommend this experience. My family's favorites were the longest zipline and the fast and furious one. We had a party of 6 and were grouped with 2 other guests for a total of 8. I think 8 is the max per group. There were continuous guests arriving and checking in, so do not be late. Every guest is weighed at the check-in point to ensure they are not under or over the weight restrictions. Guests cannot bring their own water bottles as they do provide water right before you get on the first zipline and half way through the course. Guests cannot wear their own sun hats nor carry any loose items. All personal belongings such as purses, etc that we couldn't bring with us, were kept safely in a box in the gift shop. We retrieved our belongings after we finished the course. It took us a total of 3 hours from the pick-up point back to the drop-off point. They have a small pickup truck that transports guests to and from the check-in point to the gift shop where we received our orientation and safety equipments. Next to the gift shop are restrooms which I thought were clean for its location. Along with wearing harnesses, we had to wear helmets and gloves. We saw them cleaning the helmets after they were worn, but not sure if gloves are cleaned after they're worn. There were 7 ziplines and 2 bridges for the Tree Tops course. There is a set of stairs leading to the first zipline. If you're out of shape like me, these set of stairs can be quite a challenge. I was huffing and puffing by the time I got to the top. We had 2 tour guides. Julio and Zo were very friendly and knowledgeable. They kept us entertained and safe. They also offered to take pictures using their own camera near the end of the course, but it wasn't working during our tour. Luckily, I had my fanny pack and kept my phone safely zipped in it and was able to take some photos throughout our tour when I was safely on the platforms. Next door to the check-in area, is a campsite for kids. Because we arrived early, we took a quick tour of this outdoor facility, which has a playground, basketball court and volleyball court. A small creek runs along the camp site.

Sonoma Zipline Adventures Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Sonoma Zipline Adventures

Which is the best treehouse? I know insides are alike. Which has best view and least foot traffic?

All treehouses include excellent canopy views, but Ocean stands out for atmosphere and serenity

For TREE TOP COURSE, if we go in end of December, which time would be the best (9:45am, 10:15am, 10:45am, 12:15pm, 12:45pm, 1:45pm)? Thanks!

After lunch may be better or it will be cold I would think!! It is awesome enjoy

Is there a waitlist in case of cancellations? there's only 1 person spots left and i need 2 spots

    What is the weight limit?

I think I remember the sign saying it's like 70 lbs to 250 lbs

How long is the tree top?

It's about an hour and a half, but you'll want to allow at least two hours total because they take you by truck to the course, and there's a short instructional as well

Is the minimum age still 10?

Yes..it is still 10, and our 10 year old girl was so brave and had an awesome time!

How scary is the tree tops tour?

Compared to others that I've been on, this was less scary because they make sure you are completely attached at all times. Plus, there are cables and rings to hold onto on each platform--even though you are safely attached.

    Is there any weight requirement?

Yes, and they weigh you before you go on the tour.

    What to wear?

Very comfortable clothes but maybe in layers so you can remove it if you feel hot. But definitely need closed-end shoes.

    How much per person?

It depends on the tour you choose and whether it's a weekday vs. weekend, so it ranges from $99 - $139. For details, go to: https://sonomacanopytours.com/view-tours/

How long does the tour last and can two people do it?

Around 2 - 2.5 hours total. Yes, 2 can definitely do it; they put together groups of 5 - 7. Have fun!

Is it kids friendly. 5 and 7 y/o?

They have to weigh at least 70 lbs!! They have a scale at the check in counter which everyone has to step on!! Thank goodness only the check in person can see it.

Does it need to be a group or it could just be 2 person and join together with the other group. I am thinking to go there with my wife and I'm wondering if I could book just for 2 persons?

Yes. My wife and I did exactly that. We joined up with another couple and a woman. It was fun getting to know the other people and see them experience the tour like us. The first time I went, same thing also. Five of us joined with a couple.

Back then, there weren't that many options for ethnic restaurants of any kind in Walnut Creek / Concord / Pleasant Hill. Chinese? Italian? Indian? Mexican? Hmm - you might have to be prepared to do some driving. As a result, Occidental had at that time a reputation for authentic Italian cuisine, provided by two rival ristorantes in town. It was quite a drive to get there, but you made a day of it and had an adventure. The little town didn't have much else going on business-wise, that I recall. It sat in a petite valley with a striking rural appearance. In the present day, the town has grown a bit in the intervening years, with more options for dining, and a bit of shopping thrown in. The valley setting sports higher trees and a feeling of being well settled over time. We recently visited while out on an apple picking venture with my brother and sister-in-law. They were cruising on a motorcycle on a glorious fall afternoon. Dear Hubby and I were enjoying the autumn sights in our newer four wheeled vehicle with the sunroof open. We didn't have a lot of time to poke into the shops, as the sandwich spot my bro had in mind was going to close soon. We had a yummy lunch, and got to soak up some of the small town atmosphere and hints of fall color, before time to get back on the road. Can't wait to go back and spend some more time exploring the village.

I don't normally drink wine but came for the olive oil and the experience and it did not disappoint! I also eventually changed my mind that red wine can be good:) We were seated indoors and Edd gave us the rundown of what we'd be tasting for the afternoon complete with stories and lots of fun facts. (I now look at any bottles that say "cold pressed" with some light skepticism since it's clearly only written there for marketing purposes!) We ordered a selection of the panini sandwiches, the burrata and butternut squash salad, and the charcuterie board. The fire cheese was delicious and the spread was perfect. Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))

We had flocks of pelicans flying overhead and once we got to darker areas, the real star of the show came out to sparkle. You can see the bioluminescence light up as you paddle or run your fingers in the water. We stopped a few times along some coves and even saw the sparkles lap up on the sandy shores. We had 3 guides -one leading, one in the middle and one at the back to make sure no boats were left behind. The ride out was a bit choppy but we had paddlers of all levels in our group and everyone did okay. The guides made sure to check in with everyone and we'd count off boats to make sure we all caught up, We got to hear information about the seashore and the surrounding waters and the local creatures. The time flew by and it was such a wonderful, magical experience. If you haven't night kayaked, I'd definitely say to try it once. I hope to travel with Blue waters again and try one of their day trips, While it's important to dress warm and wear waterproof shoes, they do provide dry bags, a waterproof top and of course all the safety gear for your excursion.
