Beautiful pools situated in lovely, shady Ives Park. In the heart of residential Sebastopol, Ives Pool hosted our division meet and were tremendous hosts: Every organization had a good spot to pitch their team tent with the row of officials and all their equipment managing and recording time at the head of the pool. Everyone was in a relaxed mood, set by the friendliness of the host team The Sebastopol Sea Serpents. And what a relief: Neighborhood parking wasn't too dear with a public lot a block and a half away. Can't wait to return for another event. read more

HM I've gone there to do lap swimming very pushy and rude as if they owned the pool. In my opinion, it's too small and it feels like if you're an outsider, you're not very welcome . read more

We went for family swim at 6:15pm with my 19 month old, paid $11. I left a negative review because the water was too cold. It was uncomfortable and hard to get in. I get that type of temperature for lap swimming, but in the smaller pool I expected it to be a little more pleasant water temp. There was one person in the smaller pool doing a swim lesson, I saw a swim board laying out and I grabbed it to use for a few minutes with my little one. Immediately the instructor approached me and said the boards are only for those taking lessons. There was a whole closet filled with dozens of boards, why be greedy and not let us use for a little bit? Rules are rules I guess. read more

Disappointing group swim lessons for kids. There is a huge variation in teachers, ranging from attentive and helpful to bored and distracted. Kids are made to repeat useless exercises that neither inspire them nor help their swimming after doing arm circles at the side of the pool for the 20th time. Classes are taught without regard for individual kids' needs. The supervisor seems offended when you try to address concerns and nothing changes. Our child, who loves the water and wants to go to the lesson, has barely progressed over 2 seasons. Very disappointing read more

Crowded. Loud. Instructors are hit or miss for the lower swimming levels. Mostly miss! None of them have real training for communicating with young students. They are all very kind and smiley, but they are essentially just following scripts throughout the lessons. They rarely connect enough with students to notice which specific instructions are or aren't working for individual students. Your kid generally needs to arrive already knowing the skills needed to pass the level in order to pass. I just watched a whole class fail a session, which can't possibly be the fault of the students. read more

I went for the first time a couple weeks ago and they were full of rules! With everything opening back up and semi in the swing of things- this place was in the stone-ages. No showers or locker rooms open. If you didn't show up in your swim-suite, then you had to change in a public bathroom- yuck! No chairs at all- nothing to put your stuff on. All my stuff got wet being in the ground! And as much as they are law abiding by covid, gotta love the used bandaid that was right there when I was about to get in my lane! My update is just that 'Sandy' is the Sunday instructor and she's awesome. So cool and she plays these awesome playlists of music - it's the perfect way to start the day on a Sunday. I'm always thrilled after a morning at this pool - great staff, clean pool and very green. They use many solar panels to heat up and run the pool. Awesome. And 24 hr fitness is not more like 78 F - which is cold as HECK for us humans. read more

Awesome affordable swim classes for the kids! My daughter improved almost right away and loved all of the coaches she had. The only way to get to the pool is through the locker rooms so it was quite the effort when she didn't want to go through men's room with my husband. Luckily she was just old enough to be able to dress herself and make it out in time for class before he got too worried and had to fetch her. If you are new to the classes and are bringing your child make sure you get there a little early so you can snag a spot in the shade. They fill up quickly! read more

If i could give this place zero stars i would, My son took his first swim lesson here. He was so excited to start learning how to swim!! He was having such a great time with Eve, learn how to kick AND blow bubbles! The instructor decided to look at the other 2 kids that were in his class leaving my son unattended in the 3ft side (my son is two and unable to touch) My husband and I both watching our son try to kick his legs to stay above water, we then tell her to grab him he's going under. She was not paying attention what so ever talking to someone else. She then realized he was under water, grabs him and give him to me... No apology was given from the instructor, the coordinator kept telling me that she was a "life guard". They never ONCE asked if my son was ok. Don't take your kids here!!!! read more

Love swimming here. Patrons are very nice and so is the staff. The locker room floor is gross so bring your flip flops. I'd like to see a fundraiser to update and expand the locker rooms. They are pretty funky. read more

We were looking for swim lessons either group or indvidual now that wikiup swim season is coming to an end - called ives on 08.11.17 to set up some private lessons - to date (08.22.17) I have not heard from the person I was told schedules the private lessons (jordan) - I also have left 3 separate messages over 1 1/2 week period to enroll my son in the group session - received a call back today from ricardo stating his level (6) had room - called one hour later told by ricardo no room - unfortunately we will be taking our swimming needs elsewhere - its unfortunate to say the least read more

The fact that small town Sebastopol even has a public pool is a huge achievement and blessing for everyone, including tourists like me! I was so grateful to be able to get a swim workout since triple digit July heat makes running impossible. The pool is a small and lovely gem!! An oasis in the desert. Parking is super easy, I parked my 23 ft RV on the street in front, but they have a huge side lot as well. Price is $4 for seniors and no one cares if you live there or not. Adults are $5. Dressing room was very nice, with generous wood benches, lockers, and a cute circular shower to save space. You could see that it would be warm and cozy in winter when the weather got cold. Reminded me of the Russian pool locker rooms where you had a sense that it was built for winters not summers. The life guards and swimmers were courteous, you could leave your bags in locker room or bring outside. Pool is short course only about 25 meters and not crowded. There is also a Masters team there! A huge thank you to the city of Sebastopol for this truly wonderful gem of an attraction, the public pool!!! This pool is essential for adult exercise, grateful tourists, children who need to learn swim skills, seniors for mobility, and possibly future Olympians in your midst! Great pool for a small town. They offer swimming lessons and a great deal of adult swim time. The pool is heated and clean.

Nice place to swim. Cool members. Locker room is a bit funky and could be kept up a bit cleaner. It is fair price . Love that it has solar to heat the pool and open year round. But bring sandals to wear in the locker room.... read more

Cute little outdoor pool in Sebastopol. Six lanes, from shallow 3 ft to the end of the pool, 8 feet. 25 yards. I came when it was gloomy and i was 1 of 2 ppl. By the end of my swim session, there were 10. Would return if in the area. CASH only. $5 a swim or $45 for a 10x pass. Parking on the street. When i went, no parking issues. Haven't tried during weekend or evening swim sessions. read more

Visited Ives pool during our vacation to Sonoma in July. Unfortunately, our vacation was a week prior to children's swim meet. On our first day, we could not participate during lap swim because our kids had to be 12 or older. We then, had to wait for general admission at 1pm. While doing some practice laps, Kaity came by and said that it was possible for us to come for lap swim the next morning. Great! The pool's heated and 6 lanes were provided for lap swim. Staff was helpful. Other swimmers were very courteous, giving my kids there own lane for practice. I would like to thank the staff at Ives pool for accommodating my girls. Kids did great at the swim meet. read more

I'm sad to say it because this pool is such an easy distance from my house but it's absolutely miserable. Used bandaids and other soggy bits of trash are everywhere and all the employees and lifeguards I encountered were rude (I got snapped at 3 times in 30 minutes while trying to take a dip with my toddler). I was really hoping to like this pool but it's too disgusting and unfriendly to be worth it. read more

This is our 4 year old daughter's first year in the swimming lessons and everyone is absolutely great. They have an average of 4 kids per teacher and seem to really connect with them. When we started my daughter wouldn't even get her face wet in the tub or shower. Now she has two different pairs of goggles and first thing she does in each lesson is get her face wet! What a difference! Thank you to Ricardo and all of the swim teachers at Ives! You are all the BEST!! You have made such a difference in our lives. read more
