Wow, what a GREAT community pool. The swimming pool is a good size, with a shallow area blocked off for smaller swimmers, and the deep area blocked off for the diving board. The splash zone is in a separate gated area, and has a shallow area as well as the water structure with some slides, sprays, and the bucket that splashes every few minutes. There are at least 3 life guards for each pool. There are a few shaded areas with picnic tables (not sure if they need to be reserved in advance or are first-come), as well as a good amount of grassy areas for people to sit out there belongings. Would suggest to bring your own chairs or blankets to lay down. Also people brought pop-up canopies as well. Women's bathroom was decently clean. We spent almost five whole hours here and I would HAPPILY come again. Great, epic family day. read more

This is arguably the cheapest water/aquatic park fee you'll pay. I like that children under two are free, then other price tiers for 3-17, 18-64, 65+. Even the most expensive entry price (18-64) is still only $7. I can bring my whole family here for less than the cost of one ticket at Hurricane Harbor in Concord or Calibunga in San Jose. Pay by cash or card; cash is better. Hours and dates are better than the San Ramon Aquatic Center. Here, the hours are longer and the tot hours are earlier in the morning to accommodate naptime. Only problem with tot hours is that the bucket still dumps water, which my 2-year-old and 4-year-old weren't fond of. The facilities are also open a few weeks longer than San Ramon, from early June until the end of August. There are also theme nights on select Friday evenings, such as Neon Glow, Hawaiian Luau, Under the Sea, and Back to School. You can also rent areas for pool parties. Lockers are free. Bring your own lock and food/drink. Bathrooms and changing rooms are standard. I didn't see a whole lot of lifeguards when I went on a Saturday afternoon. Where are the trash cans??? There is no grassy area here, just hard pavement, so bring chairs. Some cabanas here provide shade, but they get taken up quickly and can be reserved for parties. Definitely bring your kids under 7 here instead of the big water parks when the cost is higher but they aren't big enough for the slides yet. read more

There is no separate baby/infant pool but the shallowest part of the general pool starts at 2ft and goes to 3.5ft deep. The splash pad for kids to run around is separate but located right next to it the shallow part of the pool. The splash pad does have standing water but it is below your knees, sometimes doesn't even go above your ankles. read more

The children are running the asylum, no direction, no structure, no idea that customer service is even a thing. After asking 4 employees where my kids class was, getting 4 different answers, I asked to speak to a manager, yet another aloof child. My daughter's swim lesson was changed from 6:15 to 5:30 without any contact to let us know. Naturally we showed up after the "updated" but not communicated time. I was told with a thick layer annoyance (having to put down her phone, and use words out loud with a person), that the "manager" spoke with my wife, and got the ok. Which never happened... Great pool! Except my family and I came here for a swim meet and the water is just so salty and thick! All five of my children were adding time and complaining about the taste of the water! To add on to my complaints the snack shack does not have actual food. I understand that this is their first home meet this season but this is just constructive criticism. Another thing, the songs barely played! After each whistle, they would change the song and it was only about 30 seconds into the song. Finally, the parking is terrible! I cannot believe the bang for your buck you get here at open swim! My 2 year old was free, my 6 year old was $4 for four hours of splash fun! I was $6! Wow! $10 for an epic fun four hours! Unfortunately the line to get in took about 25 minutes and we showed up at 12:20 - I had assumed the line would've been gone through, they only had one teller but she was amazingly sweet, attentive and focused when we finally made it up. She got my toddler a free complimentary life vest in his size, too! I'd give 5 stars if it weren't for the wait and crowds, I think the lifeguards could be a little more mindful of rough children in the small child section. Some kids are too rough for water or too big for that section, it can be a very dangerous situation, very fast, for little ones. The water bucket that spills and some of those features - are actually very harsh and for a really tiny one, would be just TOO much. My son is fearless though and went right for it! They have lockers, bring your own lock, which made me feel my stuff was safe as I played with my kids. They do have a lot of covered and uncovered sitting areas you can park your stuff or your cooler for a picnic etc - but then you need someone to sit there with your stuff. It was really pretty crowded - so if your kids are anxious or you aren't good in large crowds with a lot of energy - it's not your jam. I did see a turd or two in the little kids pool. We use swimmie diapers - but still / nasty! It is highly chlorinated though. They can't really clean it while the madness is going on, either. I can't tell you the joy I got from my baby running and jumping into the water into my arms! The smile on my sons faces - they were exhausted by the end of it, too! In fact, my toddler couldn't hang, we left early and my older son stayed with family friends. My toddler couldn't walk back to the car (parking is very limited) and fell asleep before I buckled him in! They have a lot of lifeguards, still... Both my kids use vests for extra safety. I had a few drowning experiences as a kid and had to be rescued and have PTSD - but even so, drowning is a leading cause of death in kids! read more

Perfect way to beat the heat and let the kids unplug for a few hours. Two separate pools, one for the smaller kids with a spray station, large bucket and a few slides, the larger pool has a diving board and a couple lanes for lap swim. They provide life jackets free of charge and allow you to bring yours in if they are life guard approved. Come with your own snacks, the vending machines are they only offering for munchies. Parking is a commodity so get there early and be prepared for a 15-20 minute wait on line if you arrive at 12. read more

Couple of tips before I start. 1. CASH ONLY 2. No concession/snack bar 3. Limited seating and shade 4. Hours are usually 12-4 I love this water park!! I'm on a mission to bring my 2 lil ones to as many water parks and spray parks in the Bay Area this summer, and this definitely is in my top 3. Admission is cheap, $3/child and $5/adult, and the play structure in the middle of a very shallow pool was a huge hit with my kids. There is also a children's pool that goes up to 3 feet right next to it. The lifeguards are very attentive and the children's area is completely fenced up from the bigger deeper pool. Life vests are also provided if needed. This place is very chill and I'm able to let my kids play in the water while I relax and watch them nearby. The changing room is fairly clean with separate private stalls to shower/rinse, and there are also a few private stalls to change. But make sure to wear your slippers cuz the floor is a little slimy. Btw, this is located near the Martinez marina. It's in a nice neighborhood so no worries about parking. We will definitely be here quite a bit this summer! What can I say? This place is a FIND. We spent the day there last Friday and it was so much fun. We got there at noon and there was a long line already. We were afraid we weren't going to get a spot in the shade. It ended up being a non issue because we were able to get a nice table in the shade. We brought a blanket, some chairs, a big cooler with food and drinks. We were there from noon to 4 when they closed. It's such a fun park and it's so affordable. $5 for adults and kids under 2 are free. They have a flat family rate of $16. You can't beat it. Go, take your kids, enjoy the fun in the sun. read more

Wow! For $8, my daughter can have the ultimate kids-pool experience. I was in a foul mood when I arrived but watching her have the time of her life has turned that frown upside down. They have a couple of slides and this swinging bucket that fills with water, then then dumps over every few minutes. Oakland didn't have the pool weather we were looking for, perhaps that was a blessing in disguise... Both my sister and dad live in Martinez so this could be the first of many visits to this pool. We came here for the first time on a Saturday and had a great time. The only thing I would say is that it was packed! Every single space was about taken at the fence in the kiddos spray pool area. The water wasn't too cold and that's how it should be. The lifeguards are very attentive and making sure everyone is safe. I loved having the adult swim area in a separate section. When my 7-year-old and I was bored, we just walked on over to get in some laps. The shower and restrooms were pretty clean for accommodating so many people. Overall, it is so much better than going to WaterWorld, because it's cheaper and you won't feel bad for leaving in an hour or two if you get bored. read more

This place is perfect for the kids. (toddlers mostly) We wanted to take the kids somewhere that wasn't too expensive and that the kids could play in the water. This place is perfect. Lots of kiddie pools and slides. They kids had fun for a few hours before we left. There are plenty of grassy areas to lounge. Virgin to this location! Talk about a BAD DATE! I went here for my godson Birthday. I love how this location is tuck away from freeway & great for kids since Water World caters to older kids. STOP there! They had to close the kids pool for 15 / 20 minutes to remove various clumps of kids feces from the pool! OK I get - this can happen, but isn't there a process & procedure in place to close the pool for the remainder of the day to clean, drain & disinfect with chemicals? I'm always on the hunt for aquatic parks as my kids are 5, 2, and 8 months old. An amusement park like Waterworld just seems so big, and quite expensive for the amount of fun these ages can actually enjoy. Rankin is clean, affordable, well staffed, and fun. Recreation swim was from 12-4 and we arrived at 1230 on a Wednesday, found a parking spot fairly close, paid the fees, and began to enjoy the water and weather. All 3 kids had a blast. We only stayed in the play structure water area but it looked like there was a 4ft kiddie pool, and larger pool with diving board. Some tips for when you visit -cash only -you can bring your own food (no concession stand, only vending machines) -limited seating so you might wanna bring your own chairs -limited shade so arrive early. You might also want to call ahead of time to see if the shaded area was rented out thay day or not -life jackets available upon request -showers available but I didn't see soap read more

Perfect swim park for my 2 year old. He can run around while I sit along the artificial shore to keep cool. Everything is well kept and showers are clean and have individual stalls. The downside is that there are no privacy doors or shower curtains for the showers. There are curtains for the changing areas though. I don't understand the point of that but most importantly everything is clean. read more

Hidden park tucked away in downtown Martinez. The park is very open and has a lot of parking. There is a gazebo, picnic tables with BBQ pits, tons of grass and 2 playgrounds. The playgrounds have wood chips. I wish they had the soft padding instead. The toddler section had a nice little playground that had a climbing section, leap frogs and a overhead tent for some shade. There is a lot of grass for kids to run up and down. The downside is that the toddler section is not blocked off. It is easy for running kids to run off into the street or out of the area. read more

This water is great! The price is incredible and while 4hrs of open swim doesnt sound like much, it was plenty! My kids were worn out. There is a younger kid section complete with a shallow pool, and there is a bigger pool for the older kids. The big pool is split up also, so if you want to do the diving board you can do so without people swimming in your way. Food is not available there, so bring your own! Loved this place. I've lived in the Bay Area my entire life and never knew about this park. I have 3 kids aged, 11, 10 and 7months. They loved it. We arrived before they opened and got a spot in the grass looking at the pool. My 11 and 10 year old loved the pool. Lifeguards were very attentive. I was very happy they didn't allow my daughter to jump off the diving board into 12ft. of water. They have life jackets for kids as well. The pool went to 6ft. which I didn't expect, but liked so that my kids didn't feel like they were stuck at a baby water park. The kiddie area was cool, with the bucket dumping every few minutes. My baby enjoyed sitting in the lowest level and splashing and watching the bigger children at the park. She even went down the slide once with her brother. It wasn't over crowded when I went, I was told it does get packed but I'm not surprised. The price can't be beat. 0-2 FREE and $3.50 adult price was $5.50. We stayed till they closed. Will definitely be back this summer, and will bring snacks and drinks. read more

I had heard of this pool from an old neighbor. Since moving to Martinez, I knew it was a must visit kind of place. We had out of town guests and were looking for something to do with the kids. Rankin Pool was the perfect place. The water was warm, the grounds were clean and it is a cheap place for entertainment. Took my daughter here for the first time on a Sunday. Entrance is $4 for 3 and up. Best to get here early before they open because there was a line when we arrived at 12:08p plus find a prime spot to hang out. Also nice to bring a camping chair just in case there is no where to sit. The structure with the water bucket was awesome, great area for your lil one to hang out. There is also a pool next to the structure that goes up to 3.5 ft. Locker room and showers are nice and clean. I believe on Friday's the splash bucket area is open 6-8p. read more
