Gam Tu Bop is a great option for cheap and delicious rice balls! They have so many good options but important to note you CANNOT die in the restaurant, even though they have counters and chairs. Important to note that! But there are some tables across the street by the fountain, so my friend and I ended up taking our rice balls across the street. We had a variety of rice balls AND their masubi with egg and all was so good. I absolutely loved their masubi and I'm a pretty harsh critic on it. The food here is all fantastic. My only qualm is the staff didn't seem too happy to be there and also didn't offer information on the eats. Good vibes from management trickle down to employees so very important to keep those employees happy so it radiates to the customers! Now with the bop balls assembly, my friend and I know whatsup but I think with others they may be confused getting seaweed separately without a very minimal instruction by staff telling them it needs to be assembled still and they don't do this to keep it fresh. Also, I know the new laws that by default, restaurants don't give napkins or silverware but could they ask us if we needed them? We weren't given any and struggled a bit without. Came the other day & thought this place was good! My order was made so fresh the rice was warm. Because the rice was so warm, it didn't stay as a ball & would fall apart easily. I got the unagi, tuna, beef, & tamagotchi. The unagi was my favorite as it tasted so fresh & the flavor was well balanced. The tuna has mayo & was good but I don't really enjoy warm tuna. I was not expecting much, and this place exceeded my expectations with not only a large variety of options for almost any diet but some unique flavors I haven't seen before in onigiri or musubi. I visited near end of day, so options were limited. I was glad to taste that even though these were not necessarily fresh from earlier in the day it was still a really enjoyable flavor experience and very well made with no crumbling making it easy to eat on the go. If you're seeking onigiri or musubi, or even just a quick bite that is small but filling, I definitely recommend a stop in! Overall inside had Air conditioning, not the best, but there is not too much seating inside so not expecting people to stay too long, its okay as we got it togo. The 5 rice balls we got were, Tuna, Crab meat, Spicy pork, Beef and Tamago Yaki. Overall the Tuna and Crab meat were excellent. Great flavor, while not overwhelmingly strong. The spicy pork and beef were mediocre, they did give alot of meat on both but i felt that the spice was overpowering the rice. The Tamago was super bland with little to no flavoring. We average about 2-3 balls as a meal when we eat then after a homemade salad or veg dish. Ive tried their rolls as well and they are packaged to keep the nori crisp, with wrappers that have instructions. Every rice ball arrives well packaged, hot and delicious with stickers identifying whats inside. And delivery is usually fairly fast. My favorite thing about Gam Tu Bop, besides the consistently tasty rice balls, is how excited my son gets when i tell him we are ordering from them. His favorite food is sushi, but rice balls are quickly becoming his second favorite. My wallet thanks you! Our faves are the beef (bulgogi), spicy pork, crab, unagi and grilled salmon. I immediately called the restaurant to explain the mistake and ask for a correction. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue, I was repeatedly told, "That's what you paid for, so there's nothing we can do." I calmly explained multiple times that the problem wasn't what I paid for...it was that I was given the wrong item. Despite this, no solution was offered. The situation became even more disappointing when I was told they were too busy to deal with the issue. The associate informed me that the manager instructed them to get off the phone with me, and that I could either wait 15 minutes to speak with someone or essentially accept the situation. When I said I would take my complaint to Yelp, the response was simply, "That's fine. Bye." Mistakes happen. What determines good customer service is how those mistakes are handled. A simple apology and effort to correct the order would have been enough. Instead, I was met with indifference, dismissal, and a complete lack of accountability. Losing a loyal customer over the cost of correcting a mistaken order seems shortsighted, but it was the principle and poor treatment that ultimately did it for me. I had a bulgogi rice ball ($3.55) and this was the tastiest of the 3 rice balls i ordered. Tasty sliced beef with a good marinade. The chicken teriyaki rice ball ($3.15) was just ok. The meat was cubed up and a little dry. The unagi rice ball ($3.95) was decent but again, too many small pieces made it an easy fall-apart food. I also ordered a california roll ($3.25) and a spicy tuna roll ($3.45)... of the 2, the spicy tuna roll was the tastier one. It had a good kick and a decent amount of tuna. The rolls could be bigger. Overall, a decent first try with Gam Tu Bop. More meat & more seafood would make it a no brainer for me but the rice balls are mostly rice and lean on the meat. read more

If I were being honest, I'm a bit torn at writing this. Easy going or strict. So let's just go with neutral, reflected by the Yelp stars themselves. Gam Tu Bop has been around for some time now and my bias to it is that it's one of a few of its kind. Onigiris have been a major comeback trend, especially with all the reels and tiktoks showing how to make it ourselves. However, already made ones can't be beat sometimes. No dishes to wash, no time to waste, and just an average of $3.50 an onigiri right? It's laziness and cheap eats at its finest, which Gam Tu Bop definitely hits and deserves stars for. BUT... having fallen into the trend of making onigiris myself, I'd love to have premade ones that beat making them at home. Don't get me wrong, Gam Tu Bop's onigiris aren't bad! A good selection of fillings to choose from, cheap price, and a quick in and out of the place. The minor issues? Too much rice which knocks off the ratio and could be a notch more flavorful. Had the mushroom and grilled salmon. My best friend had the spicy shrimp and bulgogi (beef). Mushroom could've had a little more teriyaki and the grilled salmon tasted great but I feel like instead of balling it up all together into the center, they could have spread it out a bit! My friend said the spicy shrimp could have done a little less mayo, a little more shrimp. However, the winner was the bulgogi one she ordered! Had a great amount throughout the onigiri. The beef ball was apparently there most popular item but I thought it was okay. There is a lot of beef inside the ball which I appreciated. They also give nori on the side, but it was a little difficult to eat because the ball would just fall apart as you continue biting through it. The spicy shrimp was really good, I actually prefer this one over the beef ball. It was still a little messy to eat. Overall, not a bad spot to check out if you are in the area. At the time of writing this review, this place is a take out only restaurant, and i was skeptical when i looked in the bag because the contents look underwhelming. Balls of rice with a handful of meat inside. they package the seaweed separately which makes sense, so the seaweed stays crispy, but it is a difficult meal to eat in your car. It turns out the marinated meats are delicious and have a pop of flavor that isn't the same tired profile I've eaten a million times before. The spicy tuna roll, once you figure out how to construct it, wasn't too bad either- the rice to meat ratio is a little high, but considering it was less than $4, who am i to complain? This place probably isn't for everyone, but paying $10 for a light lunch that is mostly healthy, and tastes as good as this, you'll find yourself running out of reasons to eat here. There's no other way to slice it. It's pretty good. And for single bachelors, you can just buy in bulk and store them in the fridge and buy banchan for fiber elsewhere.
