For the love of duck! I can't believe what I just found! It's like a hidden gem! So, you know how we always had to drive all the way to Alhambra just to get our hands on our favorite Chinese food? Well, guess what? I stumbled upon this place on Yelp, ! I've been around this complex for ages, but I never even noticed it. But now, I'm telling you, it's a must-try! The star of the show - their fried duck! It's absolutely yummers! I know it might be a bit hesitant to try the place because it's quiet, doesn't look engaging to come in but it's worth it. They've got some really tasty options too. Parking is a lot, we just call them and pick up the food, so eating there vibe I cannot share a lot. oh well, my fellow Glendale peeps, I highly recommend checking out this place. The Yelp app made it easy to schedule and pay for a takeout meal. It was ready upon arrival and still warm when I got home--you could tell it was made fresh! My boyfriend raved about the sweet and sour pork having the right balance of meat to pineapple and veggies. Ordered beef chow mein delivered by DoorDash. Positively FLAVORLESS, small portion, and most certainly not worth the $23 I paid for it. The fact that they only included one tiny packet of soy sauce with it, only annoyed me further. The corn was overly buttered and tasted stale. The wonton soup had an off flavor that made eating it feel like a mistake. The chow mein was passable but lacked depth of flavor. Overall, the foods flavor and quality seemed prepared without care or passion for the person eating it. Disappointing. I would say this is bland, flavorless, and low quality. Not good Chinese food- wouldn't recommend it to anyone even if you are hungry and it's close by. No duck sauce either only sweet and sour. read more

Finally a legit Chinese restaurant in Glendale! Huge menu, fresh ingredients, great service! Had the steamed chicken dumplings, vegetable tofu soup, orange chicken, and walnut shrimp. Amazingly, that qualified us to get a special house lobster for only $6.99! All of the food was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and made with high quality ingredients. The dining room is clean, there's plenty of free parking, and a kiosk at the for if you want to only order for takeout. Will be back! read more

I've been dying for a decent American style chinese place in the neighborhood since Sun Hai Inn closed on Los Feliz during the pandemic, but finally this place has stepped in. It's just as good and probably a little better, although a bit pricier too. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and the chow mein and both were exactly what I wanted from my local Chinese spot. A nice random spot that I was so surprised in how good it was. Mostly as it looks like from the outside a Panda Express, but that is in NO WAY the way you are treated. The Service is AMAZING! Mary was the manager that night and it was close to closing but they were so polite and helpful. We ordered a few things and it came out fast and hot. They checked on us and one of the items she noticed we were really not getting into and she just said... I don't think it was made that well let me make you a new one. And new one was so much better. Food was delicious. My family enjoyed all the dishes. We ordered to go and when we got home I thought my order was short one dish. I called the restaurant right away and informed them. The gentleman who answered the phone was apologetic and said that they will have one ready for me to pick up right away. Come to find out we had it after all. Ordered take out- fish filet with black bean sauce and chow mein with chicken, beef and shrimp. The fish filet was really good. Sauce was light, onions and peppers firm. Fish was tender and well seasoned. Chow mein noodles a bit over done for us. Shrimp was a bit scarce but not too bad. Was hoping for the noodles to not be so dry. Would I order here again? Yes of course. I would definitely give California Wok another try. Probably would not order chow mein next time around, but definitely order fish filet and give other dishes a try. read more

We are so happy we found this place. We've been searching for a good local Chinese spot for a long time and this is it! We ordered the Szechuan beef and vegetable chow mein. The server, Noi, was very attentive and recommended the different soups with the daily lunch specials. The lunch specials are plentiful and many different entrees. You choose between white, brown or fried rice. We both ordered the fried rice. They give you two huge scoops that are very delicious!!! I had egg drop soup that was very tasty!!! I ordered the chicken with mixed vegetables which was a great way to get my vegetables for the day!!! The chicken was tender and very delicious!!! It was not too salty. My sister ordered hot and sour soup and chow mein and really enjoyed all of it!!! I am so very glad that Noi recommended the soups as they were very delectable!!! She was very friendly and told us to take our time. I also ordered some dim sum: pork steamed baos to take home. My husband ate some and really enjoyed eating this dim sum. There all kinds of dim sum on the menu as well. They also have wonderful sweetened teas with boba. You also pick out your percentage of sweetness for the various fruit teas. My sister and I chose 50% which was perfect but not too sweet. I had a strawberry iced tea with boba and bits of actual strawberries in the drink. Yum!!! The ambiance was lovely as each table had table cloth. You could choose between chairs or chairs and a booth. Our server, Noi, also asked us to please sit at a table of our choosing and then took our lunch orders. The lunch specials are 11 am to 4 pm every day which is amazing as some Chinese Restaurants only have lunch specials Monday through Friday. She also packed our leftovers as they are very generous with the servings of Chinese food!!!!! This is well worth a visit and you really get an awesome amount of food and terrific service!!! My sister and I will return. You really should give this restaurant a try. There are so many lunch Chinese entrees and even dim sum to order. I have had dim sum since I was 5 years old. I even know how to order dim sum in Chinese. For many, this is closer than Chinatown in DTLA. You also will save on gas and avoid quite a bit of traffic during the week if you go to this Glendale California Wok. Glendale has been needing an authentic Chinese restaurant for many years and now with California Wok, we finally have one! We came in for dinner and we tried the honey walnut nut shrimp, chicken pan fried crispy noodles, crispy fried pork chops, and the house special lobster! All the dishes we ordered were delicious and portions were perfect sizes for family style sharing. The price point was very affordable and also the service was great! Right now they have a special when you spend $49 the house special lobster is only $6.99, what a deal!! They also have lunch specials, we'll have to give that a try next time! Still a work in progress. Quality ingredients, but far too bland and too sweet. If they can fix that it has the potential to be very good. If not it's a mediocre American-Chinese place in a very crowded market segment. Got the House Special Lobster, among several other dishes. Should have gotten the ginger scallion prop instead. The kung pao had zero spice, the mapo tofu had very little, the Mongolian beef was mediocre, the black mushrooms and baby bok choy had the wrong sauce. read more

The food is authentic tasting and I would imagine that's a high point for any restaurant especially a Chinese restaurant in Glendale. The place is nestled in a strip mall and parking can be a little tight, but there is more parking right next to the place. The waiter was helpful and attentive, and service was good. The place is not that big but spacious enough for 40+. The restaurant has been open for 6 months and still has that new place shine. For someone who gets his Chinese food in Monterey Park/Alhambra/Hacienda Hts/Chinatown, this place was a nice surprise. Pricing is a bit high but fair for fresh ingredients and authentic tasting Chinese food in a city that doesn't really have that many Chinese restaurants. It was great twice, but the last order was awful. They didn't send what we ordered even though the correct receipt was stapled to the bag. Since they told us to keep it we tried it and it was awful.
