I visited Galleria Tile today around 1:20 PM to view large format tiles (24x48). I wanted to see the third tile on display. The sales associate assured me that the first two large format tiles wouldn't fall as she retrieved the third one. Unfortunately, as she lifted the third tile, the first two fell to the ground, cutting me three times on my wrists and hitting my foot. What was most disappointing wasn't just the accident, but the lack of immediate concern from the associate. Instead of checking on me, she focused on cleaning up the mess. I had to ask another associate behind the counter for a bandaid. Only after I tended to myself did the first associate ask if I was okay, without really listening. When I told her I had three cuts and my foot hurt, her response was, "Oh, you have small cut." We teach children that when someone is hurt, even by accident, the first step is to show empathy. That did not happen here. I'm unsure about the quality of the tiles themselves, but this experience was unsafe and very disappointing. Customers should feel safe and supported when visiting a showroom, and that was not my experience today. read more

This three generation shop was phenomenal from start to the actual installation - ask to speak to Italian design graduate Claudia, the daughter who is the third of this family's women to take over the Galleria - so impressed!!! Claudia practically design classes and her ideas floored; she knows more than you can imagine well why wouldn't she - her Italian father is a master tile-er, her mother used to manage the shop, her grandmother was the founder and she is an Italian design graduate. This family, bleeds beautiful, unusual, off the beaten track tiles from all over the world and then they gently hold your hand through your renovation. But what was magical was that their word is their bond - appointments were kept, if an issue came up it was handled immediately, when l made a mistake they fixed it for me going above and beyond. After years of sloth and indifference, I decided to gut and rebuild the master bathroom. This means tile-- lots of tile. Which brought me to Galleria Tile. I've been there before and always felt good about their staff, selection and pricing. This time around, I was really starting from scratch and needed lots expertise and even more patience. Enter Sabine...her advice was invaluable. To start, she immediately said "beware of white floor tile, it shows everything." I went dark, thank heavens. The main challenge was a big long wall that greets you on arrival. I wanted to make a statement but didn't want to overwhelm. This generated countless discussions, countless experiments. Did I mention patience? Sabine's solution: Master wall 24 X 24 "wave" tile and 12 X 12 "flat" titles-- same manufacturer, same material, same color. Judge for yourself. But I think we nailed it! Doing a complete home renovation last year I visited multiple tile stores before I finally found Galleria. Wish I had been here from the beginning since they have the best selection and assistance I found. Also competitive prices and the sales people do not push towards more expensive products, which I noticed elsewhere. I recently did a small finishing project to tile my fireplace and I am so happy with how it turned out. I wanted to use patterned cement tile but Sabine at Galleria suggested I use a porcelain that mimics the cement look. This was great advice as it saved me quite a bit of money in both material and install cost. Plus the install was done in about 6 hours which would have taken much longer with the cement. Although the tile I bought was beautiful, the customer service was terrible. I was given a sample that wasn't the size I wanted but the person with whom I worked assured me that it came in the size I wanted, but she just didn't have a sample of that. She also assured me I would be able to return any tile I didn't use as long as it remained in unopened boxes. It took me many times of calling and emailing to finally get an order placed, and when the order came, the tile was the wrong size. I used it anyway because I had already contracted someone to do the bathroom in that time frame. Then when I had leftover unopened boxes, I was told I couldn't return them because the manufacturer was using a new dye. She suggested I sell it on Facebook. read more

This place is awesome!!! My husband and I went in on a Saturday, only expecting to get some ideas, but secretly hope to walk out with a clear vision of what we wanted for our bathrooms. It was bustling on a Saturday afternoon. I asked to make an appointment, but as soon as the hustle and bustle died down, Claudia asked if we were doing ok. Turns out we didn't need an appointment! In less than 2 hours, we had tiles picked out for all three of our bathrooms! I showed Claudia the vanity and brass hardware we ordered from Restoration Hardware Modern. She quickly walked around the store after asking us our style, and within minutes, she had several options laid out for us. All three bathrooms are different and so special! Claudia then wrote down each tile, the prices, and handed us samples in a bag to take back home to make sure it's what we wanted. She said all we have to do is tell her the square footage and email her back. Claudia was insanely helpful, exceeded all expectations. Boom. Done. No more shopping for tiles! Notwithstanding the lack of basic customer service skills, Glenn Stark punches up my rating to 4 stars. I rate Glenn on the following skills: - Design Advice: Glenn provided critical input regarding the tile selection for my bathrooms and kitchens; - Commitment: When Glenn told me that he would give me an update via email or telephone call, he followed through and kept his commitment; - Attention to Detail: Glenn's design expertise ensured that I had the best selection of tiles by way of size, color, and texture -- if the tile was slightly off in these areas, he would recommend an alternative tile; and, - Business Ethic: Glenn would make recommendations that benefitted my project -- if he could get me the same quality tile for a lower price, he would make that recommendation to me, and show me the alternate tile. I echo the other comments. Decent selection, obnoxious customer service. Examples: I walked in and described our tile (gold travertine). Response: "If you don't have a sample, I can't really help you." Seriously? Sales 101, man. Later, indicating our tiles were gold and white. "Those are really difficult colors to work with." Everything out of this guy's mouth was "no" until I asked for pricing, when he was quick to hand over his card. Spend your money at a more deserving business. read more

I bought beautiful backsplash tiles from Galleria Tile years ago and now I'm finally installing it. Renovation projects don't always follow the anticipated schedule! The original design did not need edge tiles, but the final layout does. The manufacturer of the tiles went out of business about three years ago, so I thought there was no way I'd be able to get the pieces I needed. But when I visited Galleria Tile to see what might come close, I talked with salesperson Diana Visona. She looked at the two tiles I'd brought in and said she might have some trim pieces by the original manufacturer still in stock. She hunted through the storeroom, came back with trim pieces that matched, and, because they were discontinued, sold them to me for a mere 10 cents each. That's really going the extra mile and taking care of your customers! read more

I'm remodeling my loft. I've had 5 different tiles ordered from Galleria. The first two were in my bathroom -- a metallic gray porcelain tile and a mosaic glass tile. I was sufficiently happy with their service (I worked with Glenn) and location that when I needed tile for a countertop and for a stair landing, I ordered it from them too. Their prices are reasonably competitive and their selection is terrific. Agree, the hours are kind of annoying if your job isn't in the construction / design biz. But it wasn't until this week that I was exceptionally happy with the small-store service level. The glass tile I ordered looked hideous when installed esp with the porcelain I had ordered. Glenn worked with the manufacturer to exchange the unused boxes of the tile for some other [less expensive] glass tile. The new tile came in a day later -- I guess that's more the manufacturer's shipping schedule, but anyway, it all turned out okay. They've never messed up any of my 7 orders (5 tiles, but I had to order an extra batch for 2 of them). read more

I found my bathroom and kitchen tiles here! Went here not knowing what to expect. Very pleasantly surprised at the assortment to select from and great service. The rep took care of everything without fail, they email and return phone calls throughout the process. I ended up ordering a variety of tiles for my first remodel. No errors and everything shipped on time. All the tiles are shipped to the store, my contractor doesn't speak English very well and said the guys at loading were very helpful and nice during pick up. They also count and check the tiles prior to you taking them, so you don't have having to come back and return. There are beautiful high end pieces for those in the market, but there are many selections to meet most needs. The buyer has definitely good taste and selects with scrutiny. read more

Ooooooh, I've been waiting to write this one! I echo the other sentiments about the customer service here - HORRIBLE. I came in on 3 separate occasions since I'm in need of tiles for 2.5 bathrooms, entry way, and backsplash for my kitchen. They're close to my work and so I really wanted this to work out. Alas, it was not the case. You get better customer service at the Chinese places that are notoriously rude (although I've noticed they've gotten MUCH better). I came in twice to browse - very nice and organized showroom with a fantastic selection. I was excited. Obviously, questions ensued, but no one said hi to me AFTER they saw me browsing. I finally walked up to Barbara to ask for prices. She helped me pull them, but didn't want to know anything else about my project. No questions to assist me in the design or to even know where I'm placing these tiles. She's nice as in she doesn't give you attitude or anything, but you can tell she don't give a sh*t. Meanwhile, her and the other staff member were chatting away about their personal lives, rather loudly, too. Third time was the WORST - a woman sat toward the front of the store, not the back. I figure she's the greeter, but she literally looked at me and looked away! WTF?! Sit your a** in the back then if you're just going to ignore your customers. I even smiled and said hi, but she DID NOT acknowledge me. WOW. I asked her for a price because I really wanted to know about this certain tile, so I sucked it up. She looked for a few minutes, asking around. She got it back to me and that was it. Pretty much walked away. Yea, she doesn't give a sh*t either. Maybe that's their motto - we don't give a flying f*ck unless you know what you want and am ready to pay for it. I think their saving grace is Glenn (?) who sits in the side room. He said hi to me when I walked in to his area and asked if I needed help with anything. I did chat with him for a bit and he was very friendly. I was looking specifically for him on my 3rd visit, but he wasn't around. HE should sit in the front. I thought maybe they're racist, but an older white man came in and the RUDE woman who sat towards the front ignored him, too! He walked to the back to ask for Glenn and I though "smart man". He probably knew the deal. I will be absolutely shocked if these women worked on commission. I really hope the owner addresses these negative Yelp reviews - they're not bogus. GALLERIA TILE is wonderful resource, their selection is amazing! Everytime I've gone into the store they always have something new to show me. I don't understand some of the negative feedback that others have left. I've never had any bad experiences in all the years I've been doing business with them, and returned again on several of my projects. The staff is great, a lot of knowledge, and always helpful in finding me what I am searching for. Their prices are competative, ranging from low to some higher end products as well. Most of the time their prices are better then Anne Sacks or Waterworks, saving me a lot of money in the end. I'd say go there first before you go anywhere else.
