Gao created the cabinets for our renovated kitchen and two bathrooms project. They helped us select colors and styles and were patient with our questions. They directly worked with our GC to arrange delivery and for install.

Joanne was the sales rep we worked with, she was patient and responsive in the beginning but felt like she began avoiding calls for two months. When the cabinet was supposed to be due, she did not follow up to let us know proactively how long the delay would be. It was after repeated attempts asking for an update and also a negative yelp review (I think) that got her to begin communicating again. All in all, cabinets were originally due last week of January, and delivered on 2/23 (almost a month delay). Two weeks due to builders out with Covid ...but what happened to the other 1-2 wks? We did have a couple interactions with Clara (sales rep) who was great, gave us a great design alternative to hit our goal. We really appreciated this! In any case, a business that has been around for this long really should be to focus on proactive communication with the customer. The delivery guys were exceptional, very careful and attentive, friendly. Cabinets look amazing and can't wait to get it fully installed.

I wasn't going to post originally since the project was over, but their quality of work is so bad that I decided to follow up In 2020, we ordered a set of custom kitchen cabinets from them and encountered some issues back then: 1. Our order came in very late. They had to delivery some first, and then follow up 1, 2 times to deliver us all the parts, delaying the overall project 2. The cabinets were custom and suppose to be high quality. But It didn't fit at some of the places that well. Our contractors had to adapt instead 3. Some pieces were just bad quality. One of the cabinet had no hole that we had to drill ourselves; some of them had misaligned holes...which was even worse (1/4 -1/2 inches misaligned) 4. The owner had a very bad attitude and treats customer very poorly Now 3 years later: 1. Some of the things are peeling 2. Cabinet had cheap coating that the stains does not come off 3. Some piece just fall off Pretty terrible experience overall :/ do not recommend this place

We found our dream house but it didn't come with my dream kitchen. I knew the kitchen would be a complete gut job but I didn't know where to start. I started researching kitchen designs online and got quickly overwhelmed and stressed. Our consultation was with Carla and after asking us a few thoughtful questions to understand our needs and priorities, she designed our dream kitchen for us! She provided helpful suggestions such as "toe kick" drawers, custom built-ins for knives, and hidden storage for larger kitchen appliances to name a few examples. Delivery and installation went smoothly, the crew left the house cleaner than they found it. I really appreciate the attention to detail the crew had with the install. Tony took special care to make sure our cabinet doors were straight - honestly when he pointed the "gap" out to me I couldn't even see it, but it didn't pass his eagle eyes. I am so happy with the way our kitchen turned out. It wasn't a huge space to begin with, but Carla's design gave us so much extra storage space that it feels a lot bigger. I've recommended Gaos to family and friends and everyone I know have had the same positive experience. I've jokingly (half kidding only) told my husband that if we move, we are moving the kitchen cabinets with us!

I was referred to Gao's Cabinets by our contractor. I'm very happy with them and their products. At first, I went to visit them. There is no fancy showroom, just an office inside their factory. But I got to see the real products they were making and that was really good experience and helped me on my decision. I worked with Joanne who is really responsible, knowledgeable, helpful. Best of all, she was very patient with me. I had changing mind multiple times during the process and even at the last minutes. She accommodated all of them. She is also very detail oriented. She spotted a few issues on my architect's drawings. The drawer installer was also very friendly and helpful. He cleaned up after his work. He even did the adjustments on the cabinets installed by my contractor and that wasn't part of his job. I really like their products. The cutouts of the drawers are contoured on the under mount sink, not just straight cut. That gives the most space to use. During pandemic, very thing takes long time. But it's worth the wait. Overall I'm very pleased to work with them. I will use them for my next job.

We used Gao's cabinets to renovate our kitchen and bathroom. Carla was so kind, professional and responsive. Her experience, ideas, and recommendation's were greatly appreciated, and there were so many options to choose from. She listened to our ideas, took our needs into consideration, and was flexible during the entire process. Extremely quick to respond when we needed something or had questions. The transformation was amazing and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Professional, responsive, amazing quality and craftsmanship. Had custom kitchen cabinets made by Gaos at the recommendation of our designer and contractor, and they exceeded every expectation. Karen was remarkably easy to work with as we went through several design iterations. Communication was thorough and emails were always returned same-day or within 24 hrs. Turn around time was as scheduled, and even after installation the team returned promptly for quality checks and adjustments. We couldn't be happier and give them our highest recommendation!

A little more than 5 years.

A little over 5 years and my cabinets are peeling/flaking. Very disappointing. Is this the standard? These were very expensive and were expected to last considering the price point.

After some years the lacquered finish is degrading and rubbing off the cabinets. Shoddy tinted lacquered techniques.

My home is an upper unit of a 2 unit, 115 year old building in the Castro. You can see from the photos below that Gregory did a beautiful professional job on my project, working with the architect/designer who had suggested the built-ins, and responding to my particular requests. Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

He is so incredibly easy to work with, creative, flexible, and has an incredible eye. He got a feel for our taste and made the benches fit aesthetically in our space seamlessly. It was not an easy thing to install either with the angles of the apartment. We could could tell it required a lot of skill and patience. We cannot imagine our space without them now. The bookcases on each side of the center chest piece was his idea too and it was such a clever use of space and it looks great. Truly, we cannot recommend him enough for his skill, taste, and he's really just the nicest guy. If we could get ten stars we would!! And his partner is awesome. They are the greatest team.

I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.
