II would prefer to give BoConcept (SOMA) a zero star rating, but the only saving grace was their delivery team. Nice gentleman, did their job to the best of their ability, and did so with a smile on their face. Best part about Bo--is the people you probably won't interact with.
Our experience at BoConcept (SOMA) was APPALLING. The weird part though was that it didn't really start out that way. Our sales consultant, Christopher, was initially very warm and engaging and seemed trustworthy. However, I am not certain the trustworthy part is a fair assessment any longer.
Christopher came over and measured our living space and spent about an hour or hour and a half for a cost of $150.00 to consult with us on our space redesign. After a day or two he called and said that the plans he had been working on were "stolen" by a customer and asked if he could come back to remeasure. Sounded strange to us that some "customer" walked up to his work space and "stole" his designs, but whatever, we said sure we could reschedule another time for him to come back and redo.
He presented some options and we recommended some changes to his design and we finally all agreed on a design. He also did a pretty decent job of putting some ideas together. But his customer service and execution at this point on were horrendous. Considering we spent approximately 11K at the store, a week prior to Christmas--end of fiscal year for retail, we are surprised they treated us like dirt. Plus, we live in a large condo building kitty corner to their location--so obviously have a lot of neighbors and friends we could bitch to, but BoConcept did not seem to care one bit that we would easily explain our story to MANY MANY MANY condo dwellers in the SOMA area.
We were scheduled to receive our order of furniture (3 large walnut paneling units, 2 large rugs, and one dinning room table)--approximately 10 weeks after our order. The order actually received very quickly from oversees and was held in the BoConcept warehouse while we returned from vacation and were able to organize our schedules and contact our HOA for delivery.
About 2 days before deliver was to occur (and I had cleared my patient list from my private practice), BoConcept called and told us that they "forgot" to order many parts to our walnut paneling and that we needed to pay the added cost but they wouldn't be able to get our stuff to us for another 3 weeks. They then said, "and you are lucky because now the items that you ordered are actually on sale and we can give you 20% off the parts that you are missing". Wow, lucky us! Not. So we politely inquired that since they "forgot" to order 1/2 of our items AND since they still had possession of ALL of our items, could they grant us the 20% percent off since now we had to wait another 3 weeks to get our stuff. No. No. No.
Lastly, when they finally delivered our stuff--it was still wrong and they had incorrectly assembled at the warehouse. So, while 3/4th of the wall panel arrived correctly we had wait (yet again) for another few days for the delivery team to come back with the correct assembly.
After all this, we inquired about a 10% discount given all the errors and waiting we did--not to mention all the product that we bought (and was still in their possession) was on sale for 20%. Of course they said no.
We have never stepped foot in that store again. We have told our story to countless people and get satisfaction each time we tell it-since our friends refuse to go in the store now. Thankfully there are opportunities to tell our horrendous story about BoConcept (location: Townsend) Thank you yelp. read more
