Beautiful store design with a wide selection of plants! I appreciate how they label each plant with whether or not they're pet friendly. The staff here is very helpful and knowledgeable! Inventory may fluctuate; when I dropped in here, there were very few (3 total) ceramic pots to choose from, so I wasn't able to grab a matching pot for my planter. I picked up a Chinese Money Tree plant, which was lush and healthy. Overall, this is a fun place to shop for houseplants! read more

Such a pretty place. Don't expect too much plants since they have such a small selection. Kinda on the pricier side too, but it is expected in the city. They sell items that are plant-related as well if you are interested in that. Didn't try their coffee but I like their concept! read more

My favorite plant store in SF! Staff is always super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I bought a Pilea peperomioides (Chinese money plant) from here a few months ago and today on Jan 12th I picked up a split-leaf philodendron (Swiss cheese plant). Mellow has a great selection and I love that they label certain plants that are pet friendly. If you pay in cash you get a 3% discount! read more

Note: This store is actually on 1906 Fillmore St. It was formerly Plants and Friends. We came in around 2pm on Black Friday, passively looking around. There was a decent amount of foot traffic as a lot of people ended up coming in to browse. We didn't expect to buy a plant but the Peperomia Rosso looked way too awesome to not get! If you're looking for rare plants, this place doesn't have them but they still have a good selection of plants. Chase was great at providing information on the Peperomia Rosso and the other plants we had questions about. He even wrote a care card for our plant and helped us choose a pot. I don't believe they have many options for big pots, but if you're looking for 4"-10" pots, you'll be able to find it here. Prices are decent. Similar to what you'll find in other plant shops in SF. The Mellow SF is a small plant store with a lot to offer. They sell a wide array of indoor plants: Pothos, Succulents, Philodendrons, Pepperomias, etc. The varieties range from common to rare. The prices are very reasonable. If you want pet-friendly plants, they label them for your convenience! My favorite plant shop in the city!!! They have such an amazing selection of plants, pots, and other little goodies. It's truly such a vibe in there and the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable! Shoutout Jen who helped me curate some pet friendly and easy to care for plants for my apartment. She really took the time to help pick ones that would fit with lighting in my space as well! Juice is perfect! First of all, I'm greeted by the cutest human on the planet with the dopest style! And then I get all of the plant knowledge I could ever ask for. Considering I'm barely keeping my plants alive. Juice was so helpful and was so patient with me... thank you so much! I hope I can take care of my plants better now. I must say that this is my Mom & I'd favorite plant store!!!! I had such a wonderful first experience here, the owners were working and were super friendly and accommodating. So I took my mom back here a few days later and she fell in love as well. I must say that this store takes VERY VERY great care of their plants! Every plant in the store seems to be thriving and full of life- no dry or dead leaves as I've seen at a good number of other plant stores lately. I've bought 3 plants here so far, 2 Calatheas and 1 starfish sanseveria. All of my plants were flourishing when I bought them, and are still flourishing now at home. This is for a plant I bought for store pickup 7/8/20. Things may have changed. I bought a medium sized burro tail and was surprised they found its condition acceptable to give to a customer. It's a delicate plant and a HUGE portion of the leaves were knocked off 10/14/22 David at the Mellow reached out to me via email after reading my review and expressed they were so sad I was not thrilled with my plant. Oh no! I just discovered one of the branches on my money tree wasn't rooted at all, but just a stem jammed into the soil with no roots. Update: So apparently this business is really bothered by honest reviews on Yelp and would prefer we discuss issues we have with their business privately. I've ordered from them twice, the first time a little bummed about the stumpy burro tail, but still pleased with them and supporting their business. The second time they had a sale at the end of March and I bought some more plants, this time receiving the wimpy unbraided money tree. After some hassle (their emails go to your junk folder) we got in touch and via email they suggested I bring the plant into the shop to exchange it. I decided I would rather just keep the plant and care for it. Made a Yelp review so people are aware about the quality of plants they receive via delivery and moved on. Now here's where it gets messy. They responded to my Yelp review via email, but I never saw it as it went again to junk and I didn't think to look for a Yelp response via email in my junk folder. Fast forward to today when I discover one of the branches of my money tree not only died, BUT WAS ENTIRELY UNROOTED. It's just a branch jammed into the soil, which explains why the leaves turned pale and fell off despite caring for it as instructed. I posted a video on Instagram and they speedily blocked me. I now have a lovely passive-aggressive email from them that makes it clear they are angry that I reviewed them on social media and also bringing up again that I made the purchase on sale, as if I have not earned the right to criticize bad products that I still paid for. Changing my review to 1-star and making it abundantly clear that not only should you not have plants delivered from them, but you shouldn't give them your business at all. read more

I was recommended by a friend and came to shop for calathea ornata yesterday. This plant shop is not only cute but also has the best people working there!! The staff was so friendly and nice :) it is like a little oasis with many high quality plants and a humidifier!!! I had a very pleasant experience visiting the mellow. Found this lil shop through Instagram and must I say, it has to be one of my favorites!! They have a beautiful store front and an awesome array of plants. All the workers are super friendly and willing to answer any questions/give tips on plant care. I'm one who usually likes to look at the plant before purchasing. However, I have such a busy schedule and aren't always available to make it to their hours of operations (12-5PM). They were super accommodating and flexible with the purchase/pickup process. For my first plant, I had my bf come choose one, pay, and I picked it up within the given timeframe. I also got a second plant that I purchased online and again, did store pick up. Both were wrapped up very securely and made it safely home in my car! Every plant I received has been of such high quality. I've been back three times within a week and a half.. and walked out each time with something new. There is absolutely no room for self discipline and I'm excited to visit again for another plant baby!! read more

They quickly became my #1 fav plant shop in SF! Most plant shops here close around 5pm, which makes it hard for full time employees to visit unless its the weekend but I LOVE that they're open til 7pm! Staff is SUPER kind & knowledgeable. They don't hover around and watch you which makes it super easy for me to shop. Their website has all the info you need and if there's something they didn't answer, you can just chat them! The quality of their plants are great as well - I didn't see a single sad plant in the store. I came here 2 times in one week and bought 3 plants. One of the days was a Sunday and they had live music right outside! It made waiting in line so much better. Gonna make my third trip in a few days!! :) You pay via Square on their phone so you can check out anywhere in the store. They also offer to wrap your plant so it doesn't get damaged during transport. Overall, REALLY amazing plant store! Please support them! read more

Wonderful local plant shop and amazing service. I purchased a plant for for delivery to Daly City. I had some questions about delivery timing so I reached out via Instagram, and they were so responsive! They also let me know I could note my preferred delivery date (so long as it fit their delivery schedule) when ordering online. The morning of delivery they sent an email with a timeframe of when to expect them, and my delivery driver texted me when they were about 10 mins away. My plant just arrived and it was in great shape. I'm so grateful for the organized, clear delivery process and fantastic customer service! read more

Update: Mellow circled back on my email and offered me a store credit or exchange. Thank you!! I am very disappointed in Mellow. They sold me an unhealthy Ficus Audrey for $100 and refused to exchange it. I sent multiple pictures and details about how the plant degraded in a matter of 10 days. All the leaves are now limp or have fallen off. I bought multiple plants from this shop and personally drove multiple friends of mine to this shop over the last two months! ‍‍‍The fact that they wouldn't do anything to help a returning customer is baffling. I am an experienced plant owner and I send a word of caution to new plant owners about this shop. Buy at your own risk . Will not be recommending this shop to anyone going forward. ‍‍ read more

I went in for the first time today. The store is beautiful, plant selection is great for the size, it's very beautiful. Downsides: 1) None of the plants are labeled with care instructions or what kind of sunlight they need. I'm sure the workers can educate customers but shopping would be easier with some labels 2) They do not re-pot plants because it "shocks them." I was prepared to buy several plants today but I have a small apartment, do not have bags of soil at home (nor want to), and do not want to make a mess in my little kitchen. The lady down the street with the plant truck happily potted my plants the other day and this is much easier for me. read more

Since the pandemic, like everyone, I've been buying a lot of plants online but always wanted something local. I finally found The Mellow SF. From ordering online to the delivery of my plants, everything was just perfect. Courteous customer service, constant updates on my plant delivery status and on time delivery...and the plant itself - my god!...my ficus decora ruby. So healthy and the color sooo gorgeous! I also bought a monstera for a friend for her birthday and she mentioned it was beautiful. I will definitely shop here again. I walked by this store since outside it smelt so good! The owners were smiling right when I walked in and told me about their Palo Santo they were burning (hence why it smelled so divine!) I was on my way to a yoga class so I didn't buy anything but they gave me one free Palo Santo stick (crazy nice) and made me feel special despite not buying anything. I live nearby and remember the store being an apparel store or something. My how they transformed it!!!!!!! Feels good to know that this is a store for EVERYONE to enjoy not just men. Many families were coming in and they even had dog treats for the local pups. Can't wait until they open again and I can take a workshop and buy plants. Thanks Mellow SF! read more

Had THE BEST experience with Mellow SF this past week! I am from Dallas, TX and my best friend lives in SF and I wanted to surprise her for her Birthday. I found Mellow SF on Google and so glad I did because the process was easy and smooth! You can imagine how nervous I was ordering plants for delivery and making sure all goes well. But they more than exceeded my expectations. From ordering online, to communication with staff, and then delivery (free within range) - it was all perfect. The Mellow is my new favorite shop! I've gotten 3 or 4 rounds of house plant purchases here, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful, both with picking out new babies to add to the family, and with tips when some of my plants aren't doing so well (pro tip: it's really easy to overwater!). Since my first visit in five months back, I've gotten seven plants from here. All alive and healthy; some growing so fast I've had to repot already! I definitely recommend for shopping online for nearby SF delivery, and visiting the shop. Both experiences are welcoming and easy, and of course the biggest measure of success for a plant shop is they have a great and changing selection of plants! read more

The various rooms and displays provide a detailed history of Walt Disney and his dream of building his beloved amusement park come to life. Never knew his dream started with his love of trains! What's more, the museum setup makes you feel like you're actually at Disneyland. Thoughtfully curated and full of color, the place was a joy to explore on multiple levels. It included interactive elements, exhibits on synchronizing cartoon sound, a reproduction of an animator's desk, details about Walt's collaborations with artists and musicians for films like Fantasia, and captivating artworks and animated displays of his classic works, such as a whole section centered on the history and influence of Snow White. I was especially a fan of the Mary Poppins display, which featured studio story sketches, film posters, and photos of the actors with Walt Disney in 1964. I also really enjoyed the current exhibition, "Happiest Place on Earth: The Disneyland Story" in the Lower Lobby and Theater Gallery, which included a film screening of Happiest Place on Earth: Walt's Disneyland (2025) included with the admission price. The exhibit as a whole was quite interesting as someone who used to go to Disneyland multiple times per year (can't splurge like that anymore). I learned about Walt's vision and the evolution of each of the rides at the amusement park, especially some of my faves like the Haunted Mansion with original ideas stemming from a "museum of the weird" that was never built. The venue also offers a cafe with seating (open Thursday through Sunday 11-3pm) and a museum gift shop with plenty of Disney-themed goodies for all ages. Staff was professional and helpful, though not really involved in the self-guided tour. And parking in the area is easy and costs a small fee by the hour, payable by mobile app.

This is the oldest public Japanese garden in North America and it shows -- well maintained winding paths, koi ponds, the iconic Drum Bridge, pagoda, stone lanterns, and that big bronze Buddha all create a nice calm vibe right in the middle of the city. The garden feels authentic with graceful maples, pines, azaleas, and cherry trees (depending on the season). Strolling the paths and crossing the bridges is relaxing, and the zen garden area is a nice quiet spot to pause. I snapped plenty of photos because the scenery is very photogenic. The tea house is worth a quick stop for matcha or snacks if you want to sit and soak it in. Overall it's a solid little oasis -- not huge so you can see most of it in 45-60 minutes, but still worth lingering if it's not too crowded. A couple small notes: it can get busy with tourists (especially midday), so early morning or weekdays feel more zen. Entrance fee is there but they have free hours some mornings. Parking in Golden Gate Park is the usual hunt -- Music Concourse garage or street spots nearby work if you time it right. We didn't want to waste our time in the Teagarden itself just getting tea or snack snacks, as well as experiencing the gift shop, but I wanted to check out the actual garden and monuments within the garden area. There are maybe 10 different pathways you can go to get to each area, but we circled the park maybe three times to make sure we got enough pictures of everything! Lol. A lot of the pathways loop around each other or have multiple entry points, which is rather nice considering there were so many people. I also liked the steppingstone over the water. Kind of cute and interactive. There were these huge steep steps at one of the monuments that were really hard to step down because it felt like you were stepping at least a foot down with each step in a crazy maybe 45° angle! I'm glad we were going down those steps instead of up! There's also a archway friendship bridge that people were climbing. I wanted to take a picture, but there were too many people waiting in line and taking their own personal pictures on. So I didn't want to be weird and take pictures of random people. Lol this is also why I do not have a picture of the Teagarden Cafe portion as well. Overall, I think of taking personal family pictures here or wedding. Pictures would be gorgeous with the beautiful backgrounds if they are allowed. I saw a handful of people taking personal pictures, but with their own cameras. I'm guessing you have to have a license or something to come in the park with a tripod, but I could be wrong. I really love the relaxation of the garden itself but honestly on a Saturday there were so many people here you could hear people talking everywhere. I think coming on a weekday would be a lot more tranquil.

These street cars are the star of the attraction and definitely worth the ride. For $5.70 one can buy an all-day Muni pass which allows you to ride these cars along with all other transit EXCEPT the cable cars. These cars are a collection of preserved vehicles from the '30s to '50s. Each one was given from a city in the US. They were originally brought to San Francisco to substitute for the cable cars when the c.c. Went under major renovation back in the '80s. The street cars became a hit with locals and tourists and are now a part of historic transit systems in San Francisco. The museum is small but detailed. It is open limited hours and run by a team of volunteers. They are passionate about these street cars and it shows. They are very detailed oriented but expect a pause every 10 minutes when a street car goes rolling by. The museum is free with a suggested $5 donation. It will only take about 30 minutes to cover it but a great stop if a rail fan.

We learned so much about the history of streetcars and my grandchildren learned how to drive a streetcar using the museum replica. We were inspired to take a streetcar ride afterward. I recommend to Bay Area and out-of-town families to drop in. The Museum is free! What a bargain.

Parking for the mission is challenging. There is lots of street parking, but everyone is parked and we didn't see anyone leaving. We did find Sunday Church Parking. I believe it said tow away zone except between 8:30 and 4:30 on a Sunday. It was a smidge after 4:30 and a space opened up and we took it. Thankfully we didn't get a ticket, but I did see 2 meter maids coming though when we left. The mission is beautiful. I wish we had come earlier so we could have taken a tour.

Today all that remains is the chapel, a couple of small rooms attached and a portion of the cemetery. The majority of the complex is long gone, buried beneath the city that built up around it. The chapel has been restored and could be used today. The alters, wooden pews and decor resemble what this church may have looked like in its prime over 200 years ago. Today it sits in the shadows of the Basillica. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors. The site can be easily toured in under an hour. However, to get the full story one may want to spend some more time.

They have a donation box at the exit of the museum. The current exhibit is titled "Neon as Soulcraft", which was my first time seeing an entire exhibit devoted to neon lights. As someone who likes reading descriptions at museums, I spent about 30 minutes, so it's something that won't take too long. I really enjoyed the combination of art and science, and appreciated how they provided background information on the artists and their inspiration. I won't go too in depth so that you can check out the exhibit for yourself! *Verdict: The lady at the entrance was so friendly! She took the time to explain what "Pay What You Can Wednesdays" was and offered to answer any questions. There's a new exhibit every few months, so I look forward to coming back in the future!

However, the staff was extremely accommodating and kind, and escorted me to a separate bathroom. They made sure I got to pick the bathroom I was most comfortable in, as well as apologized for the inconvenience. Not only is this place fun, entertaining, and family friendly, they are welcoming, kind, and caring. I will never forget the kindness that I was shown.
