I was looking for tile edge trim in either a jolly or bullnose for a tile I bought online because I couldn't find the shape anywhere else. The online shop did not sell a matching edge trim for the fishscale tile. I went into Global Tile Design and was told by the Asian lady in the showroom that the "factory" doesn't sell tile edge trims separately and since I bought the fishscale tile elsewhere, they won't sell me any tile edge trims. I knew that wasn't true. I immediately left without bothering to talk to the lady anymore. How did I know that wasn't true? I was just at Daltile and Galleria Tile near the design center and they were more than happy to look for tile edge trim (jolly or bullnose) to match my fishscale tile. They were super friendly and I highly recommend going to Daltile or Galleria Tile. I don't recommend anyone visit or even check out Global Tile Design. They aren't willing to work with you to find trim tiles unless you purchase tiles at their shop and comes up with a lame excuse that the factory won't see trims separately. Don't expect any service from them and based on other reviews, it says a lot about them. Don't waste your time. Go check out Daltile or Galleria Tile. read more

We have never experienced customer service so poor by a professional company than the one we experienced with Global Tile. Our experience started out very good, Aldrich was very helpful in selecting our tile and giving us great design suggestions, they also had a great selection compared to what we saw elsewhere in the city. Where it went very downhill was after we received the tiles, and our contractor alerted us to a defect in the coloring of half the boxes. We sent Aldrich pictures of the tiles, he agreed that there was a mismatch and agreed to take them back to have new ones shipped out. Apparently he was told by the tile distributor that "it was fine" and they refused to give us a discount, so Aldrich went back on his initial offer to waive shipping and only gave us a 5% discount on a defective product. The most frustrating part of our experience was how unresponsive and defensive Aldrich was to our efforts to solve the problem. It was incredibly difficult to get a hold of him, we needed to email/call numerous times before we got any updates, and when we began expressing our frustration on how communication was going, he was very defensive despite clear email thread evidence that he was very late in getting back to us throughout this process. We eventually asked to speak to his supervisor as we felt we were getting no where with Aldrich. This was met with even more defensiveness and a flat out refusal to let us speak to his supervisor. I have never experienced this in a store that has customer service. Despite multiple requests, to this date (a month into the problem) we have yet to be "allowed" to speak to his supervisor. In summary, while their products seem to be mostly great, in the case that your box of tiles have anything wrong with them you will be met with extremely poor customer service and I do not think is worth the stress. read more

I have had the great pleasure of working with Aldrich over the past several years for various home projects. He has always provided me with the highest level of care and attention. Anytime one does a home project, timelines are critical. And, the products were always easy to get, arrived on time, and none were broken or damaged. I hate to do this, but I was so frustrated with my experience here. GT has a nice selection, they helped me pick out a good tile - that was all fine - but when there was an issue with it it was IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere. My rep was Aldrich. It felt like I wasn't worth responding to, once my check had been deposited, as days would go by without any response -- and never without me sending multiple emails/voicemails to follow up. (All this time my contractor was sitting there waiting....they had total disregard for that.) What a giant pain in the a** it ended up being. When i finally asked if i could speak to a supervisor, he outright refused. He seemed to care more about not getting in trouble than with helping me with my issue. The tile defect was not his fault, but it was probably the worst experience with a sales person that I've ever had. If you must go here, ask for someone else. read more

Well-worth a visit. Prices are competitive, and they have a great selection across a wide price-range. They pack quite a few samples into a small floor space, compared to the competition. I worked with Anita and Aldrich - both were extremely friendly and helpful. Providing me with loaner sample pieces to take home for no charge, and taking time to help me figure out what my needs were despite my inability to articulate them. You can get $40/sq.ft. Italian Bizzaza or a $6/sq.ft. Chinese knock-off. We went to a bunch of kitchen and bath stores around the city, and it seemed like they all had the exact same selection of faux-Tuscan, faux-stone and earth tone mosaic tiles. We weren't renovating a villa in Siena. We were trying to remodel the bathrooms in our 1950s house. We wanted clean and contemporary. I went in to Global Tile late in the day, and fell in love with all their gorgeous, creative tile displays. They have tons of stuff. I was close to losing my mind, completely scatterbrained, flinging receipts and papers around and losing my cell phone (remodelling and moving can do that to you). Aldrich calmed me down, got me to tell him what I was looking for, and made me an appointment for bright and early the next morning before work. The next day I came back and he had laid out a beautiful selection of tile for each of our bathrooms. We liked just about everything he picked for us, which was totally unbelievable (I am uber-persnickety.) It's like he has a sixth sense for your aesthetic goals and just taps right into them. Anyway, long story short, our bathrooms are finished and they are everything I wanted. We had some snafus along the way but they were our fault (bad measurements = not enough tile, too much tile, etc). Do make sure your tile guys have the skills to cut and lay some of the fancier stuff - our guy couldn't handle the beautiful shell accent strip we picked out and basically destroyed it, then made us order something else to replace it. Perhaps sensing my extreme level of desperation, Aldrich happily advised us on paint colors for the walls and stain colors for our vanity. He is really good at what he does. Make use of his expertise, because it's a rarity to find someone that knowledgeable nowadays. read more

Customer service at this place SUCKS! We placed an order and 2 of the tiles arrived damaged. Global tile offered to replace the 2 damaged tiles. A day later, we ordered 10 additional tiles (same tile) over the phone and were told that the tiles would arrive in 2-3 days. I received a call when the tiles arrived and given the total charge over the phone. I questioned the cost and was informed of a $25 shipping fee (there was no mention of shipping fees when I placed the order). I went to the store to pick up the tiles and asked about the additional charge on my invoice. The girl at the front desk told me that Anita was the one who took the order and that I was informed of the $25 shipping fee when I placed the order. The front desk girl walked away and came back without any solutions. Anita apparently was in the store the whole time and finally came over to talk to me. Instead of trying to find a solution, she went straight to accusing me of having forgotten that she explained the charges when I placed the order and kept saying I agreed to charges over the phone. A) Anita said she told me she had to FedEx the tiles because the order was so small - If this was true, I would have asked what the shipping costs were B) Anita said she told me about the $25 fee when I placed the order - I would absolutely remember if someone informed me of a shipping fee C) They were shipping the 2 replacement tiles at the same time so why did they charge me the shipping fee? If I was actually informed and agreed to the additional fee, I would not be writing this review. It's not even about the $25, it's the principle and they way Anita handled (or didn't handle) the situation. Global tile has a decent selection but I would never come back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

We brought him over some sample paint colors and he suggested a stunning mosaic design which is the visual highlight of the kitchen. Our design consultant Christina is THE BEST. She really helped complete our new bathroom design vision. Global Tile has a great selection of domestic and import tile. We fell in love with an Italian tile that looks like falling water - a natural for a glassed in shower. She showed us a spectacular metal-flaked terrazo we used for the floor and a great-feeling and looking glass bead tile in ocean tones for the shower floor. Munoz Tile from Santa Rosa did an amazing installation. Very happy with the result. If you're not sure what you want, or even if you are, like us, go to Global Tile. I love Global Tiles' selection and their personal service. I broght my 70+yo mom over recently as she was remodeling her bathroom and Anita quickly summarized that my mom would like LARGE modern tiles for easy cleaning. She was right! Anita brought out several colour schemes so that mom could have a selection. We were all surpised when Mom selected the light blue checked Italian floor tiles and the 'forest' glass mosiac tiles for trim/accent. The tiles looked very modern kind of 60's style, which my mom lived through. I think Anita is a genious. To the reviewer who states, Anita is a snooby .... I'm a Chinese business owner and I can understand Anita not wanting to give out too much discounts to 'friends.' This showroom is fantastic! Aldrich rocks! I have been to Galleria, Best, Ceramic, and a couple stores in the EBay. We found our tile and best service here at Global. I wasnt looking for anything obscure just subway tile in larger size 3x8. Aldrich helped us pick out the our trim to match our carrara marble floors. They had more selection than the other stores and had the bull nose and 1/4 round we need. Ordered it on Monday and was ready for pick up on Thursday. I called them because I was too impatient for my regular tile shop to get back to me on pricing. I spoke with Aldrich. He priced out what he had on hand then followed up regarding the remainder. Prompt and courteous. When my other tile shop got back to me I was really surpirsed that Global was 30% cheaper across the board. Global Tile sold me tiles that were mis labeled and so porus that 9 coats of sealant did not stop water stains. After all the coats my contractor and I realized the issue was the stone. After weeks of calling and emailing - Aldrich blew off calls and emails and tried to put me off to an assistant who further delyed. Then finally I reached the distributer who put the blame back on Aldrich and Global Tile. I am still working to get Aldrich to refund my money and pay for the tile to be re done. He is unresponsive. There are better places to get tile in SF - protect your self and find them! read more

We recently purchased our kitchen's tile at Global Tile design. The place does have a good tile selection but their customer service is HORRIBLE. I highly advise you not to buy your tile there. We were told when we ordered it that it would take 6 weeks. 9 weeks later and no phone calls, we were still waiting for our tile. It finally took 13 weeks to get it and at no point in the process did Global Tile design contacted us to let us know about the delay. It was us calling them every week to figure out what happened. We never got any explanation as to why it took so long or any apologies either. This place sucks. read more

Don't let the lovely showroom fool you; there are a dozen tile stores in the area that have a similar selection. So, there's no need to pick this one. My experience was deeply frustrating and really surprising. All was friendly and easy as we were picking out tile and signing the credit card bill. But actual delivery of our purchase was not only late, but full of off-putting, dissembling, and stalling. Over the course of almost two weeks, it gradually became clear that information I'd been getting about the manufacturer and delivery was baldly untrue. Requests for explanations were eluded; attempts to pin down dates were skirted; request to speak to managers were quite rudely sidestepped and ultimately refused. Finally, I think the problem here is a team of very young salespeople with only a vague sense of what constitutes customer service in American retail -- i.e. LISTEN to the customer! So, it's not worth the run-around, especially if you've got a schedule planned with a contractor. Try someplace else! Latch Tile, Artistic Tile, Ceramic Tile Design, etc. They are many and all have similar selections and often better prices. read more

What seemed to be a good experience went quickly south. I found Alrich helpful in the beginning. He helped me design a nice looking bathroom and we ordered the tiles. However, the follow through has been horrendous. The tiles never arrived on time and arrived broken -- we waited two weeks for the replacement after he quoted me 2-3 days and I had to follow up with numerous phone calls and emails to get any results. Aldrich would not return my phone calls and often said he was busy with another client. In response to this delay, he simply said delays are common and he blamed the other tile company and never took responsibility of the issue. Like the other reviews, they do charge quite a bit on shipping and when the tiles do not arrive on time, it's your problem not theirs. Very disappointing. read more

We recently finished a complete bath re-model and purchased our travertine tile from Global Tile Design. They have a great selection of various materials and sizes, and with Anita's help in choosing the wall/floor tiles and trim pieces, our bath room looks fantastic! If anything, you can either get a knock off the expensive hand made tile, or for the real deal all in one store. Anita can be a bit on the greedy side. She oversold my contractor by about $800 worth of tiles, even though he went there with precise measurements. Long story short, I attempted to return the several boxes of expensive and unused tiles......no response to email and no return phone calls from Anita. I finally just went down there and she kept me waiting for over a hour before she would see me. She then gave me a partial refund based on a "repackaging fee"..... Bottom line, she's very nice when selling.....not so nice when returning your money. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. This is a small little tile shop however don't let the size fool you, they have everything! Aldrich (Asst Mgr) is the best - a pleasure to work with. He finds tiles suited to your style and budget, and lays them out for you to see how everything fits together. He has excellent design sensibility, and will make recommendations and even sketch out a diagram of how the tile should be installed, if you are doing a decorative pattern. There are some great selections of tile while it's a bit tough to get the order placed and processed smoothly. The phone answering was not as professional and the phone calls were returned the next day or sometimes none. The answers were not as clear about the estimate arrival and the accessories availability so I had to cancel the order at the end. We recently underwent a whole house renovation requiring tile for 3 bathrooms and a kitchen backsplash. The size of our project required so many decisions it was quite overwhelming but working with Aldrich made the process so much easier. I was appalled by the (lack of) customer service I got at Galleria Tile, so I had low expectations of Global Tile Design. But the people at GTD 1) actually greeted me when I walked in, 2) did so with a smile, 3) took the time to show me various tile options for my bathroom floor, 4) without sighing or looking annoyed or rolling their eyes or making assumptions about my budget based on my attire, 5) made helpful suggestions, and 6) overall seemed genuinely happy to help me. Other tile showrooms could learn a lot from Global Tile Design's attitude and approach to customer service. GTD is also open on Saturdays, which is hugely helpful to those of us with 9-5 jobs, and they referred me to a contractor for installation (something another showroom refused to do). read more
